I haven't found anything like that in the state of Colorado. Xilinx did try to trick us out of filing for unemployment, but the unemployment office helped out with that.

Remember, nobody can go back to the very beginning and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."

Sadly, often even unions can be eviscerated by management and only be a union in name, but not function. As an EAP therapist I've often heard of scenarios where unions proved to be fairly useless. There seem to be fewer and fewer instances in which a union truly goes to bat for its membership.

I've come across a recent case however in which the State Division of Human Rights has been QUITE a fierce defender of an employee's human rights...far outstripping the union's effectiveness! This is a service to which ALL employees are entitled!

I'm still angry that I was laid off from a profitable company that wanted to increase its stock price. That still hasn't happened, so the layoffs continue and jobs are shipped to Singapore and India.

I email my senator and representative and call them asking them to support the Employee Free Choice Act and other bills like universal health care.

Why should health care be for profit? Police and firefighters aren't in profit organizations. My grandson attends a non-profit daycare that is one of the best I've ever seen.

I'd join a union if I had the opportunity!

We post often about methods of seeking employment and the extra importance of taking care of ourselves while dealing with the stress of unemployment.

But how about this...kicking it up a notch, metaphorically speaking and attempting to do something about the CAUSES behind unemployment...?

In France, for instance, management takes great care regarding how they deal with employees...one never knows who might be the next victim of "bossnapping"...! Workers in France assert a great deal of power and potency.

Not so here in the USA. But it doesn't have to be that way, necessarily. Check out this interesting article:

Any thoughts, reactions to this...? Post away! :-)
