Great Amy! I have also been anxious to get back to school. My class started Monday, and I feel the same way! I am studing Computer Graphics. It's a career change for me and I am taking two courses.
I also was starting to get bored, but I don' think that is the right word, It was more like loss of connectiveness and belonging that you get from a job.
I always find a lot of things to do at home, I have a million hobbies, but my motivation seems to drag without the structure. I sometimes go to the library in the afternoon just to get out of the house.
I start going to the gym in the morning to start my day and see how that is. Anyway I am glad to get back in school. It is really motivating.

Amy that is so wonderful! :)

I too am a complete nerd! I love school to death and want nothing more but to go back! :) Just your enthusiasm has inspired me to look more into my MA in Public Administration.

Have a wonderful week in classes!

Make short term goals:

Swim run and lift as much as possible!

MWFSat = swim
ThSSun = lift
FSSun = run

How GREAT it is to have your SPARK back!

You have been taking many steps toward preparing for your big leap into the world of academia and now you are reaping those rewards!

What I think some may overlook is that our days can ALWAYS have a purpose...! Sometimes we need to be creative and under conditions where resources are scarce and there are many barriers we can STILL find a purpose for ourselves.

The trick is to take a close, hard look at those factors which are under our control. Top of THAT list is always the choices we make regarding the quality of our food choices and our physical activity outlets. But there are always other areas in which we can exercise our control. Such as how much contact we have with others.

Getting out and "networking" is an essential strategy for letting it be known that you are looking for employment. One never knows when a friend of a friend of a friend may come to the rescue!

Exercising control over one's immediate home environment and de-cluttering, organizing, honing things so that your home more truly represents your interests and activities...this can also help to lend purpose to one's life.

On another thread someone mentioned volunteering...yet another choice that is often available!

Returning to school as Amy has...yet another choice!

Keep coming back to our message boards everyone and post your struggles...many hands make for lighter work! :-)

I think the hardest part about being laid off is that my days don't seem to have a purpose. I have been doing a lot of errands for my boyfriend, otherwise I don't have much to do during the day. When I first got laid off, I had every intention to continue to get up at the same time I was getting up when I was working, but now I sleep in, usually to 8:30. I figure those extra couple hours of sleep are a couple less hours of being bored.

My days now have a purpose again! School started up again last night! I don't think anyone was ever so excited to be in a cost accounting class, but school started!

I am working towards a BS in accounting. I will be done in May 2010 if everything goes as planned. I do have a BS in education. I don't want to be a teacher. When I picked my major the first time around, I chose education because I didn't know what I wanted to do and my friends were all education majors. That was dumb on my part. Kids drive me nuts and I am not very good with them, but I did learn a lot about people in general.

I did a lot of research a couple years ago, and I decided that I really want to do accounting. I am a huge math nerd and I do best with things that are either right or wrong.

I am also excited that I have school again tonight and on Thursday night. I have a computer class tonight and advanced financial reporting Thursday. I am really looking forward to advanced financial reporting. I took intermediate financial reporting last semester and that has been my favorite class so far.

Sorry for rambling so long. I am excited today! Have a great week everyone! Amy
