Crazy cat lady...

Dude and Smoke, brothers, born to a feral mom, indoor kitties

Plus 2 that just showed up in our yard that we couldn't help but feed, name and love--Ben and Ginger.

Hubby actually calls me during the day (when I work from home) to check on the cats, how they're doing, if they ate, etc. He gets very anxious when we're away on vacation, even though we have great friends who kept them fed and otherwise attended to...

So I feel like a liar saying we don't have kids. We do, they're just feline emoticon

I had the same experience my indoor cat managed to get out we put over 200 hundert posters trough neighbours letter boxes ,on lamp posts and local stores , one house was missed out in the next street and that was the one whose garden he hang out in ,luckily the Lady saw the poster in the little grocery store a week later and realised it was our Tabby.
Getting him back was one of the best days of my life and I am so glad you got your cat back as well.

One cat: Violet. She is the light of my life. I had a black cat named Jezebel but she passed away almost a year ago. I'm still trying to get over that.
I've avoided getting another kitty but I think it's time to give Violet a sister to keep her company.
If it was up to me, I'd have a zoo in my house.

We've got our crazy girl Eleanor (golden retriever...probably) and our skinny ol' lady, the princess Isis (greyhound, sharpe, ridgeback...maybe).

Both dogs. Loves of our lives. Honestly, I think my husband might love Eleanor more than me. :)

And the great love of both our lives was Bailey, our golden who we had to put down two years ago. :(

Oh, and all rescues.

My husband and I have two cats, Ginger and Cassidy. Ginger is a red tabby cat, and Cassidy is a calico cat. She is red, white and black (mostly black) with white tipped paws and white on his chest, like a tuxedo cat, and she has reddish accents. Ginger is all red. I love them so much. They are like my children. They are both 11 years old. I take them to the vet, and dote on them like they are my kids. Love 'em!

Hi team! My husband and I are proud "parents" to our Rottie, Lexie. Lexie is 9.5 years old and is spoiled rotten! She's great with people, once she gets the feeling they're not a threat. She's especially great with our two year old nephew.

We have a cat, black and white bicolor with blue eyes and a bushy tail. Earlier this year (in May) I opened a window and apparently the screen was broken and he slipped out. We were beside ourselves. At first we thought he'd just be outside the house, but he wasn't. Everyone kept saying "they come back in a day or two" but he didn't. We put up signs everywhere and (no kidding) even left the doors open to the house 24/7 for the first week, hoping he'd come back at night or while we were at work. We ran ads in the local newspapers, and fortunately they post free lost pet listings with pictures, so I just kept renewing every week. We'd get calls at least once a day and rush to check it out, but it was never him, or we wouldn't get to see the cat that the caller had seen. Finally, 7 weeks later, we got a phone call from a wonderful family. They saw our ad and were sure our cat was in their yard. We were hesitant to get our hopes up because all the previous calls led to nothing. We went over and sure enough, he was hiding under a trailer in their neighbor's yard. It was about a mile away from our house. He was so skinny and dirty and boy was he relieved to see us. The callers had been putting food out for him and he had been sleeping on their front porch some times. He was so clingy that first week back, but now a month later, he is back to his bratty self. Anyway, I just wanted to share our story. So many people would tell us not to worry, and that cats are resilient. But others would also say that cats don't travel further than a few houses away, and others would say that he'd come back in a week. While searching for him we saw sooooo many stray cats out there and I really believe that many people give up thinking their cat has probably died. Well, let me just say, our cat is an indoor cat, a real pushover, baby of a cat, and I was sure that he would get destroyed by the first outdoor cat that he came upon. If you cat has gone missing, don't give up hope. Keep looking. Keep posting posters, and running ads.

My answer is always too many. I have three generations of Boston Terriers sharing my house. CH [kennel name] River Dance CD RN CGC is the oldest pushing 11 right down to her 1 week old grand daughters. We have CHs, BISS CHs, aglility MACHs CGCs and other performance titles. We don't place our retired show dogs since they just move from conformation to performance events. We only breed when looking to add a new show potential to the house.

BTW, all are OFA health tested. Health tested parents make healthy puppies.

saying goodbye to a furbaby today... one of our shih-tzu males we cant use for breeding has found himself a home in north carolina... new parents are arriving about 11 this morning.. gamby is a wonderful dog and it sounds like he's gonna be a spoiled pup in his new home... he now gets to be a housedog instead of a pen dog... i know his kennel mate will miss him... they've been together since they both arrived at the farm... we will miss him too but i'm exceedingly grateful he's going to such a good home... wish all my children could do as well...

Just joined the team. I have two living furbabies. I'm typing this one handed because Smudge is in my left arm. Princess is probably curled up in the living room. She doesn't really like it when I'm on the computer. emoticon

Hi I'm new to the group, glad to be here. I have my evil twins, Sid & Gus. A friend rescued a litter of 5 outside Baltimore, fostered them insisting the that I 'needed' to take one. Well, turned out he got 3 adopted out & was left with 2, so, I guess you can figure out the rest. I had always been a 'single cat' woman, live in a small apt, but, there is enough room for another little kitty here :) They've been here since Feb. of 11, they have their issues, but they are worth every bit of trouble they put us through :) Trust me, it does not stop! And I really don't want it to. Oh, they weigh just under 9 lbs each, a nice healthy weight in my opinion, but, they feel they should each weigh at least 40 if not 50. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I have four dogs. All of them border collies. Bek, Jill, Kita, and Twofus. I rescued Bek and Jill, who then had a litter of 8 out of which I kept Kita and Twofus.

DH and I have 5 cats. Two are sister-twins (yes, only 2 were born in their mama's litter). Their names are Kitra and Zoe. They were born Nov. 2005. The other 3 are siblings (2 sisters and 1 brother), from a 6 kitten litter, born July 2011. They were from my co-worker's cat. I initially took Toki, Lucy and Grover, with the intention of giving Grover to my sister once they reached 8 weeks (I got them at 5 weeks). But in those 3 weeks, I fell in love and could not part with him! So, I have 5 indoor cats, who, for the most part, tolerate each other. Waiting for the day when they become buddies, but I am not holding my breath.

we have 2 unofficial rescue dogs.

A golden retriever (original owners bought him as a cute puppy...then realized he'd be BIG someday. We got him when he was 4 months old).

And a lab mix (abandoned at a school; he was about a year old when we got him).

they are best buddies. They travel with us. It is a little work to find accommodations that don't have a size limit on dogs, but we found a vacation rental in the area we like (near Cocoa Beach).

Our family members know that if they invite us to stay, the boys WILL be with us. We did leave the lab mix with mom one year at Thanksgiving. He's smaller, so a bit easier to handle.

the golden is a big boy (he's the one sitting in my lap). He's sweet as he can be, but when he gets excited he could knock you down. He doesn't jump, but chances are good he'll bump against you prancing around and wagging his tail. And if he steps on your feet...OUCH!

I told DH before we married that I would always have at least one dog, and that my dogs are house dogs. He's fine with that.

i hope it does continue this way for you!!! i have several aging children and had to say goodbye to my eldest child the monday after christmas... she's under the apple tree... marked by a concrete rooster statue and some button flowers i made... it was a very difficult goodbye for me and peyton... but her memory lives on in her children and grandchildren on the farm... and certainly she will always have a little piece of my heart...

We have a golden retriever named Sandy (12 years old!) We've had her since 2003. We sort of ended up with her and of course, now I can't imagine life without her which is awful since we know that every day we have now is a blessing. emoticon I know after she is gone we probably won't get another for awhile.

She's been good going with us on trips, stays at our parents house and loves going to the vet to be boarded (if necessary). We have been very lucky - she's just getting old where it is difficult for her to get in and out of the car. Otherwise, you'd think she was a puppy with her energy. I hope it continues to be this way.

I have 3 Boston Terriers. They are all rescues so they all come with some quirks, but we love them to death. They are absolutely the reason we decided not to have children.

As for the term "furbaby," I used to always roll my eyes when I heard that in my younger days. But now, I can't think of a better way to describe my kids.

Ha, I agree Sharon! I'm frugal on almost everything, but when it comes to the cats, whatever they need is okay.

I just had two of my kitties to the vet on Thursday for routine shots and such, and it was almost $200. My one kitty has really bad tartar on his teeth, so I have to make an appointment for him to have them cleaned. They need to put him out for it, so w/ the anesthesia, it will cost like $250!

They're not cheap, by any means, but so worth it! As I type this very moment, my smallest kitty is curled in a ball sleeping on my lap :)

LOL! I am notoriously CHEAP - like, to the point where if I forget to bring my lunch with me to work, I don't eat so I don't have to spend money on food!

Anyway, we took the cats to the vet for shots and de-worming, etc, etc and it was close to $500.... I didn't even blink as I handed over my credit card. The BF was floored!

Take back what I said about the dog being cheap. We took our furbaby to the vet this morning and she has a severe ear infection. The bill came out to nearly $600! OUCH! I had $140 set aside thinking it would just be the standard check up and vaccines and was NOT expecting this!

Hubby and I have 2 dogs and love them to death. I definitely have pics on my Sparkpage. We take ours with us most of the time, but we have just come back from 2 trips we couldn't take them on and we have a fabulous dogsitter. they love him almost as much as us! It's great. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Katie is a rescue dog and is a doberman/collie mix and is about 9 or so. She is the second love of my life (hubby first). Georgia is a shepard/retriever mix and is about 4. We can her whiplash. I swear she has ADHD, but is the sweetest dog ever.

Nothing beats having them at home everynight. Kids won't just sit with you if you have had a bad day, but my girls will.

I am worth it. I just sometimes have to remind myself of that!

Goals:

To release 3-5 pounds per week.

To become more educated in why I crave the things I do (bad foods)

To become a leaner more healthier person.

Loren, that's a good point, and that's why we have cats over dogs. Cats are so much less maintenence. We can leave them for several days and they're fine, and for longer times we can have someone come in and feed them, or put them in the kennel if necessary. We love dogs, and would love to have a German Shepard, but we know how much more of a responsibility they are. Having a dog is closer to having a kid, IMO.

Be fearless.

The thing with pets though is that you can kennel them, have pet sitters, and they don't cost nearly as much as kids! My dad loves when we take weekends away because he gets to watch his granddog. We can go away overnight without having to make arrangements (she has a doggy door and a fenced yard). She rarely wakes us in the middle of the night. She doesn't slam doors in our faces. She subsists on $25 p/mo of food. She has unconditional love. The little amount of resposibility that we have is definitely worth it to us.

Loren, that's an interesting point you make... when the BF and I got our cats, people were so surprised since we don't want kids. At the time, I looked at it as people thinking we were cold, unfeeling, hearless individuals, but now that you bring up the responsibility part of it, I guess their reactions make sens!

We just lost my cat last year to old age, and we currently have three dogs (two inside & one out) and a guinea pig. Getting my outside dog is one of the best things I did - saved him from going to the pound, and he keeps me accountable for having to walk him every night. :-) Yes, EVERY night - rain or shine, Illinois winter or not. Only time we skip is if it's a 10-degree high for the day.

We have a dog! Her name is Pippin and she's 8 years old but we've only had her for 7 months now; we adopted her from my MIL. She's the sweetest thing but it kinda getting old already - she's going gray and is losing her eyesight but she's a pup at heart.

I think we will always have dogs. Next time we get a dog, I want to get two sibling puppies. I want them to have someone to play with.

My husband and I have two Dogs

Mine is a Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon, who is 15 (we where told last month that he's got "spline" cancer)

Hubby has a American Eskimo Dog who is going on 16

I say his and mine because we brought them into the family (aka a blended family - grins). But they are ours there is no dought about that when all is said and dun.

We also have two parrots, a Timnish African Grey and a Senegal though its debatable if the Senegal is really ours or my dad's since she gets touchy around us but loves to be around my dad.

I have a Beagle named Charlie. He's my favorite child. LOL We adopted him from the Humane Society and we're not certain of his age, but guess around 8 or 9 now.

I have a 10 year old black cat named Edgar who adopted us when he was a kitten.

And I have 2 orange tabby cats, Malcolm & Seymour. My husband brought them home from work when a stray cat hanging around had a litter of kittens. They are now almost 3 years old.

I have one cat. I got him when he was about 4-6 months old from the Humane Society. He rules the roost! He sleeps at the foot of my bed every night. He is totally spoiled. As he's an "only child", we pay a lot of attention toward him. He's an indoor cat & not allowed outside, except into the garage or back porch. We have way too many wild animals around...

I have 2 cats and they are indeed my children! Have their photos in my office, go home at lunchtime to play with them, would drop anything for Baby Girl and the Big Bubba!

Pets... I have pets. 3 cats and a dog.

EVERYONE knows EXACTLY what they NEED to do to be fit, healthy, and slim.
The problem is, nobody does it.

I have 3 kitties and I love them to death :)
