From the December 2012 - Childfree Times that I publish each month on my main blog (so ya it means that I've not posted everything from the entry since some of it is links to various pinterest boards that are of a childfree nature.

ARTICLES and BLOG ENTRIES

Childfree, why so mean to parents?
First: I know. Parents are also guilty of being mean to the child-free, calling us “selfish” and whatnot. So, I can see responding to a particular person who makes a particularly offensive remark. But why throw unbidden offensive remarks out into the world, ourselves? sylviadlucas.com/2012/12/04/childfree-why-
so-mean-to-parents/

Stop Trying to Convince Your Critics – Psychology Today on child-free women
No one asked me during Thanksgiving why I am still single. Hallelujah. That leaves the other question. Not, “Do you have children?” but, “What do you mean you don’t have kids?”

Infertility: Adopting Versus Embracing Childfree
Can you imagine living in a culture in which it was not the norm to automatically leap to a parenting-at-all-costs strategy, perhaps even a culture in which infertility was interpreted as a call to do something meaningful with one's life other than parenting?

Thoughtfully Childfree
As I am in my twenties I see that being childfree is not taking the popular road and when others hear about our decision I am quickly faced with an array of worried looks and questions as to whether I have thoroughly thought this though. When in fact being childfree is one of the most thoughtful and researched decisions I have ever made. I often wonder, do people thoroughly research and think about their decision to have children?

How about we all stop asking invasive questions about why people do/don't have children?
This society seems to take a very “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” stance when it comes to children and whether or not you’re going to have them.

Childless couples may not live as long as parents study suggests
Having children may lengthen your life as women are four times more likely to die if they are not mothers, a study has found.

Man Bemoans Selfish Women Not Having Enough Kids
Ross Douthat set off a firestorm with a column urging American women to stop being decadent and have more babies. In a follow-up blog post, he explains that raising children is easier than it used to be, so there’s really no excuse for women to be so selfish.

Brenda Horrocks: Childless at Christmas: A survival guide
Create a list of things you enjoy doing together. Pick one item each week and have it be your special holiday of the week. Take time to focus on one another and enjoy things you cannot do with children — like late night movies, fancy restaurants, an overnighter at a favorite hotel, sleeping in followed by a late morning breakfast. Remember, even though you don’t have children, you are still a family.

Do Women Have to Be Childless to Combat the Wage Gap?

we said goodbye to one of our children yesterday... had a call for yorkie pups... wont have any til late august... but told the girl on the phone we had a 3 year old yorkie female we couldnt breed again and we'd let her go for $100... i sent pictures and she called back asking if we'd be up since it was 7pm and they were 2 1/2 hours away... ordinarily i'm in bed by 8 but i said i'd wait up... she called at 8 and said they were stuck in traffic and wouldnt be here til around 1030... i told them to come on since they were already in route... peyton gave razzamatazz a bath and i got her paperwork ready and a bag of food... razz seemed to know something was up... she's a sweet girl but has floating patella in her back legs we found out during first pregnancy and cant support the weight of a pregnant belly so after one litter we retired her... we had mixed feelings about placing her cause she is such a sweetie and we love her so much... but here she is one of the multitude... and we both figured in a home where she is top dog she'd probably fare better... the young couple arrived about 11:10... razz was shaking when i handed her over but i could tell the young woman would be kind and gentle with this sensitive soul... peyton came in to say goodbye but i knew it troubled him more since he and razz are so close... he told the couple if they had any problem let us know and we will come pick her up and give them their money back...

i know we did the right thing for razz... but a tear escapes this morning as i think about our sweet girl... sometimes it's soooo hard to say goodbye...

on my road to recovery... one step at a time

A friend of mine send me this article yesterday : opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/17/t
hink-before-you-breed/

I'm happy to have lots of friends who think the same way as I do (and my bf). In my opinion more people should start thinking WHY they want to have children instead of letting us (the childfree ones) defend themselves WHY NOT

I have been seeing more topics like this in different media sources.

Good!

My hubby is getting very tired of explaining to people that we chose never to procreate.
People cannot believe that some actually think about things like that.

Great article! Thanks for sharing. I thought it was interesting that one in 5 women in America don't have kids. I find that very refreshing!

It is very exciting that we are not necessarily the "delusional" ones anymore!

From the yahoo article: "Perfectionism is the number one issue keeping modern mothers from enjoying the moment." Which is exactly why I don't want to walk down that path! I have no interest is trying to serve anyone else but myself!

There have been more and more articles in the News that many of us who are CF might have noticed and with Opera joining out ranks in the open its helped to push being Childfree or Childless into the light that many people would not like it to be.

But its out there and many of us are proud to be Childfree, if you have any links to articles about being childfree that you'd like to share please by all means let us all know by adding a link the article here and maybe a short comment on it as well to give others an idea of what you though of the "article"
