I Love California because first i was born and raised in SoCal...LBC is in the house...lol But now i live in central California and i can drive to LA, San Fransico, Lake Tahoe in 3 hours. I'm also only 1 hour drive from the coast to the west and 1 hours drive to the Sierra's to the east.
I love the weather. Even on gray/rainy days, because they happen so few and far between I think I love them even more. (I'm a fan of rain anyway) So weather. And (kind of along the same lines) I love that we have mountains, beach, forest, desert, snow, orchards, vineyards, all within driving distance.

OMG....you are not strange. I feel the same about earthquakes. They use to terrify me when I was a kid but now, they are quite exciting. (As long as I know everyone is safe). Keep in mind I live in a very remote area in a single level home. Not in a high rise in San Francisco or LA...that would be scary!!
Slow and steady will get me where I want to go!

I love California because my kids were born here, I was born here, my parents were born here and my grandparents on one side were born here. It's home and always will be. I am within a short drive of the ocean, beautiful mountains, redwoods, etc. I am very lucky to live in such a wonderful place.
I think one of my favorite things about California is something I learned in Junior High - the number of completely different ecologies we have here. (Looking it up on Wikipedia, it says California spans six ecoregions.) From where I live, in less than a day's driving I can go from desert to beach to redwood forest to sierra snowpack to wine county to hilly chapparal.
I'm also a tad strange, but maybe it is being a native, because I like earthquakes. My reaction is usually excitement. Certainly they can be devastating, but so can any act of nature - and where I live we get a lot of littler ones that just remind us we have fault lines in the area.

I love that I am close to Monterey or SF. And the weather is pretty good. I don't like the heat but at least we don't have tornados.
