This is a great topic for me. I have been putting off a haircut for weeks, no time, no money, maybe I'll let it grow... This thinking is coming from a woman who is old enough to know that a good haircut is all one needs to look beautiful! I have heavy hair, usually get it thinned, and have done my own coloring for ages. I am thinking that I might like to go natural. My youngest, newly engaged daughter is coming home for the weekend - hope that she gives me some advice.....

I cut and color my own hair so if I don't like it I have no one to blame but myself I have been thinking about going and having it styled as a treat for my 65th birthday next month but Fantastic Sam's is as fancy as I'll go
Most times I've had my hair short, there was a reason. When I was little (4 and again around 8), my mother cut off my long hair because, in the process of trying to break me of biting my nails, I started chewing on my hair.
When I was in my teens, my stepmother forced us through home-perms which made my hair a frazzled mess, then took us for haircuts which took off most of it.
Once as an adult I chose to have my hair cut short just to see how it would look. My hair is very straight and I have no patience with blow-drying, trying to add a wave at the ends, or styling, so it didn't look good.
Short hair doesn't make me miserable though. My hair grows faster than the average 6 inches per year (more like 8, I think), so I could have it shaved and in two years it would be past my shoulders.

Right now my hair is really long but I'm getting tired of that and going to have it cut soon - I have had it super-short, super-long, in-between and every other length - this time I think I'll get it done in a bob just above my shoulders and yes, I think I would be unhappy if it was 'too' short

The last time I got my hair cut was June 2010 and it was cut way too short that even my family who usually will not say anything asked why did I get my hair cut so short. I think it traumatized me because I keep talking myself out of getting a haircut. However, I think when it gets hot this summer I may have no choice because my hair is already at the middle of my back.

I don't worry about my hair much. When I first moved here, 21 years ago, my hair was half way down my back but I always kept it braided or clipped back. After two months I had it cut so short, I couldn't even get a small curling iron in it. Now I keep it just below my shoulders, but it's in a ponytail most of the time. My beautician worries more about my hair than I do! I always tell her, no stress it grows back pretty quickly, and if not short hair can be easier to deal with :-)
