3.8 earthquake jolts Long Beach, South Los Angeles, Orange County

A 3.8 earthquake jolted Long Beach and parts of southeast Los Angeles
on Friday morning.
The quake hit at around 9:06 a.m. and was felt across southern Los
Angeles County as well as parts of Orange County. Officials have not
determined which fault caused the quake, but the general area is
around the Newport-Inglewood fault line.
The epicenter apparently was in Long Beach, two miles fro
m Signal Hill and three miles from Seal Beach, according to U.S.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
[Updated at 9:20 a.m.: The quake appears to have been centered around
the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Anaheim Street in Long
Beach. According to the USGS, scores of people felt the quake in Long
Beach, Compton, Irvine, Garden Grove, Westminster, Los Angeles and
