emoticon I renewed my interest in becoming a trainer after losing my mom to heart disease far too soon and battling depression and the subsequent obesity. My desire is to reach people who don't fall into the typical gym scenario especially moms who never feel they can find the time and tend to put themselves last. Without your health you can't be there for anyone else. I am only **giggle** 44yrs old, but I really do believe fitness can start at any age.

It's great you're a trainer...my goal is to teach Yoga, with a particular interest
in persons, like myself, who are over 50.

Ashtanga Yoga is the foundational yoga from which Power and Flow yoga are usually derived and which emphasizes focus on breath. There are 4 Series of poses that are always done in the same order. Each series begins with the Sun Salutations (A&B) then proceeds to Standing Postures. The series of seated postures are what varies and are all connected by the "vinyasa" (lower pushup and jump or walk through). The finishing postures consist of backbends, shouldstand and headstand/handstands with the corpse pose at the end. The series are progressive, as in you must master certain postures before you can move on to the next.

It works for me because I like physical challenges and I love routine! It also works for me because it's connected to a larger spiritual practice. It's amazing because it is an intense, sweaty and all over workout: strength training + aerobic + flexibility.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!!

I have never heard of that particular form before. But as a trainer I am always looking for ways to incorporate more people into working out. More info please!

I've just recommitted myself to this strenuous yoga practice and am beginning to
see the results. I practice 5-6 times per week and I wonder if there are any other Sparkers who are either already practicing or who would like to join me.

The benefits are immense!
