I will be checking back here but I did start a new 2012 chat thread and I am encouraging everyone to move their chat their. Shorten up the thread and let this one go by the wayside.
Also going to try and post a game or to this week sometime.

Hi everyone! I'm back in North Dakota after being with my grandbabies in Shakopee, MN for about a week. I miss them already! I need to get back on track as I was a bit out of control over Christmas and not in my own environment so I had other foods to choose from. My daughter is a fabulous cook so it is hard not to have seconds although I did manage to control this temptation for the most part. I didn't exercise like I do at home, walking 3 miles with Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim DVD at 5 a.m every day before I go to work at a.m. Tomorrow I will get back on track in all ways. I have found weighing once a month works for me because I have been rather obsessive about the scale in the past.

LDESIR, you sound like I did when I first joined. Don't try to do it all at once, it can be overwhelming. Do what you can and the rest will come together. I would suggest you track your intake and exercise, at least this as been the most critical to my weight loss.

Let's go North Dakota!!!

I've been on SParks a few years now, going up and down and up and down. I had forgotten to "subscribe" to this discussion for this team so was not getting posts, but I did now and will post more often. I'm on a few other teams as well and have renewed my desire and intent to get rid of the excess weight. Last night I threw away the last of the Christmas goodies, so now to get back to tracking all my food daily and exercising!

I have been on spark people for a long time and have not really participated. I just read stories and track my weight. I have gotten serious about weight loss this year and have lost about 25 pounds in the last 6 months. I live on the Air Base in Grand Forks and was wondering if anyone else was sparking on base. In any account I would like to have a place to post and others to hold me accountable for working out and eating right. I am missing a support group and was hoping to find one on this page. Good luck fellow spark people!

Hello, I'm new to the ND site. I have been with the SP website since June 2011. I have lost 30 plus pounds since joining although the damage done over the holidays may not be a reality I want to face;) I am back on track now so that is a good thing. I have to run, my nearly 5 year old grandson said he is sleeping with me. I am visiting my daughter's family in Shakopee and will be back in Minot on the first. Til then-hang in there fellow Nodakkers!

Hoping today is not such a big food day. I know I know I control that to a large extent.
I have been decent so far and it should be a solid workout day today as I have time to get to the gym.
Finding it hard to believe it is raining in my world. Doesn't seem like late December.

Way to go on your weight lose for some of you. I struggle lots, buy my dr called me last week and said not all my results are in yet. but will get back to me after Christmas and will have a plan for me to follow. Their is one test that came back and I allergic to many foods, like milk product, wheat, and lots more. I pretty much can eat corn and rice. I guess once I stay away from these foods my health should get better and I'm sure I will certainly lose some of my weight.

Have a great day all!

Down another pound, for a total of 4.6 pounds in 3 weeks---slow and steady, right?!?! I definitely enjoyed the warmth this weekend but wouldn't mind a light dusting of snow for Christmas. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Krisa, I have needed one of those for a while. However I think I have done some better this week. Hope I can keep it up. I got 90 minutes of cardio today. That used to be my daily goal. Some would call that a bit ocd but it was working for me til I fell off a bit. My current goal is 75.
Light dusting of snow this morning. Just enough to slow traffic. I don't think it will give us a white Christmas. . .
Have a great weekend ladies.

Just checkin' in . . . it's been a long, long time since I have. I am sitting on a weight plateau and it kinda bites. Having a real problem controlling emotional eating right now and am not motivated to get out and run (I wanna run the Fargo 1/2 marathon in May and it's not going to happen unless I get out and train). I need a good kick in the pants!

You were active and that is all that counts emoticon ! I have logged in 60 minutes of excercise this week. My weekly goal is 90. I think once I have this going on for a few weeks I will up it to 120 minutes per week, etc. Happy Friday! Keep up the good work!

I make it a rule to not just weigh every day but to track it on a calendar and or chart depending on my current frame of mind. It helps because my weight can fluctuate a lot with my cycle. Sometimes I have been able to tell where I am at just by how my weight chart is going. Not lately because my eating is way off. For me if I know where I am at on my chart or calendar it helps moderate my feelings about what the scale says.
Ok that got long.
Not a great day today but there have been worse ones. I did walk quite a bit. It's just that that is all I have had time for.

Way to go Clare! That is awesome!

Just some words of caution...I use to be a weigh-in everyday kind of gal and I had to stop. I became so obsessed with what the number said that I lost sight of the bigger picture. The number on the scale literally determined what kind of day I was going to have. Weigh-ins are affected by a variety of factors, like sodium in-take, etc.

I now focus on how my clothes feel, how I feel after I eat a good lunch or supper, etc. Try to focus on the little things that will eventualy turn into a BIG loss on the scale:0).

The weather is kind of cruddy here---very dreary. I wish we had a dusting of snow for Christmas. I've never had a Christmas without snow emoticon .

Well I have to go get some work done and track my nutrition for this morning. I hope everyone has a GREAT day. Seriously try to weigh yourself one time a day---focus on getting water in or increasing fitness minutes instead of the scale. You might be pleasantly surprised what the scale says in a week:).

Granddaughter's program was so cute. She was a dancing reindeer. Roads going home were already getting slippery but not bad, same for comute this morning to work.

5 miles done and did not have any breakfast because I knew our janitor was bringing in home made kuchen. So I had 1.25 serving. Haha

I did good last night when I went to Bis. Going through fast food is a challenge as I seem to always have to have french fries. I love them. emoticon emoticon But just had to keep telling myself No fries tonight Clare...you have to weigh in tomorrow. I did good on weigh-in. I'm happy emoticon

Lori, my dr did a full panel and that's what we found and of course that's why I have a hard time losing weight along with being so tired. I gain weight easily and lose it slowly. Right now the dr is waiting for the results and then he is going to put a plan together for what will get me back to being healthy again....can't wait!!!

Clare, I sure do envy you with getting in all that exercise.....great job!!! I just don't have the energy like I did this summer. My health just took a turn for the worst. I started noticing it ready back in August, and I couldn't get a dr to believe me when I told them how I was feeling. I went to 3 dr before one took me seriously....thank God!

Hope you all are having a great day!

Enjoy that program!
Sounds like fun to me and the roads and weather are looking good still.
I really believe in daily weighing frustrating as it can be at times. Just don't get into the multiple times a day thing. That is a route to going nowhere fast.
I am trying hard to get my food back on track before I have a complete failure.
My health truly is at stake. I need to keep my focus on that and off food.
Got to try and get lunch and some walking in now.
At least I am getting my fitness minutes back up.

emoticon ICAN10...absolutely a loss is a loss. Anything is better than a gain.

I keep going up and down. One pound up one day, down the pound another day. So frustrating. I really need to drink my water today to see if that will flush out the sodium overload I did last evening w/ a brat and sauerkraut. Now this morning I was up a pound. Ugh!! Oh...I am a numbers/scale fanatic. I know we aren't suppose to be but I have to keep an eye on that scale or I lose focus.

Going to 8 yr old granddaughter's Christmas program at Dorothy Moses this evening. She called me last evening to ask me if I was coming. I asked her if they were singing...she says "some are singing but I AM DANCING." Well I had to tell her "Yes, Grandma will be there to see you dance dear." She was so excited...so happy the weather is great.

Have a good day all!! I need to get some work done.

Toni that seems like letting Christmas get a bit much.
Make sure you dr. runs a full panel check on thyroid. Sometims even a little low is an issue.
I am relatively frugal about Christmas for the most part. I think some people spend a lot lot more than I do. I do buy for my sister's family. My husbands family exchange names. Other than that it's just my immeadiate family. No grandkids at my house yet.
I wish I could say my weight was down:(

Greetings!

Even though I was sick and ate crappy (I didn't track and I didn't excercise) I still managed to lose .6 last week for a total of 3.6. I'm pleasantly happy with this loss. Its small but a loss is a loss.

This week I am focusing on getting back on track with tracking and slowly getting back into working out.

Happy Monday and CHEERS to a good week:).

Got a 5 mile dvd done this morning b/4 work. So happy to get that out of the way.

I agree $80 would be high. I only do the children/spouses and grandchildren and then since I only have one sister. Her and I usually exchange but we keep each other's gift low price as we both have grandkids to keep smiles on. I am very frugal.

That's gets to be alot when you are buying for your own spouses families and children. I would pick names if it needs to be that way. I hope he doesn't have a large family.

So sorry you haven't heard anything Toni from the Dr yet.

I am going to chiropractor this afternoon. I need a good adjustment. emoticon

Have a good day.

Hi all, I too have been having a stomach virus.....ugh!!!! What next! Lori....I did have my Thyroid check and I am just alittle low, but what they found that had the dr more concerned was a autoimmune disease which buy the way I haven't heard from the dr what I have. So I'm just waiting.

I've been so busy with trying to get my Christmas shopping done. My hubby side always buys for everyone and I feel we should just give gifts to the children or pick names or something. Oh, and if you ask the parents what to get for their kids they will say things that are about $80 and I think that is way to much. What do you guys think???

Hope you all have a great Monday!!!

Had a nice dinner w/ my granddaughter on Thurs eve and Fri after staff meetings I finished up my Christmas shopping. Did well over my pedometer goal. Yesterday I did a five mile walk and then with Christmas decorating and organizing I did another 3.5 on my pedometer and man could I feel that on my feet.

Sweet onion chicken teriyaki subs from subway...Oh My!! I really like that one too Lori.

I would love to get into a cookie exchange...then I would only have to make one kind.

My food choices while in Bis was not good. Why do I do this to myself? On my December challenge w/ Walk at Home I have 5 miles to do on Mon, Wed, & Fri and then 50 crunches and 50 pushups on Tues and Thurs. It's going to be a challenge alright this week.

Going for a walk outside today w/ hubby, our usual walk together is about 3 miles. I think it will be nice enough but we have to get it done this morning as we have church at 2:00.

Later....

Since there still isn't any snow, I can still take her outside, but as soon as it starts dumping, I'll need a different way to tire her out. The treadmill would work...if I could get her to stop being such a big baby!

Now that's an interesting concept walking your dog on the treadmill. Sounds like the Jetsons to me.

I need a new treadmill. I've been trying to teach the dog to walk on mine because she needs exercise too. She's a border collie, so she has tons of energy and needs a way to run it off in the winter months. Anyway, I've been trying to get her on it, but she's resisting. The last time I tried, she locked up her legs and let it drag. I think that really killed the motor. It still moves the belt, but it's making a horrible noise and is just sloooooow. Sigh.

If anyone knows of one in the Fargo/Wahpeton areas, please let me know!

Food choices mostly just aren't going that well for me but I think they are on the upswing.
I have been doing pretty well with my exercise routine.
New 12 pound dumbells have meant I am doing more resistance work at home.
Keep on fighting the good fight ladies.

Holiday food choices are going well for me. I am hosting Christmas Eve at our house this year and I have been making goodies. I took a few out for us to enjoy and placed the rest in a ziplock bag and placed them in the freezer. If they are out of sight they are out of mind;)!

I haven't been feeling the greatest all week. I have a terrible head cold, so I haven't been working out or really keeping track of my food choices this week. I did log in today and did my food journal for today and yesterday.

No matter how old I am, when I am sick I want my mom and her TLC! LOL...

I hope everyone is well. I'm going to go and guzzle some more fluids.

Holiday food choices for me aren't perfect, but certainly better than when I'm not be conscientious about this journey. Exercise is going pretty well. I did some biking this morning, but would like to get some walking in yet. My lower back is hurting, so I may not be able to get through it. I've still got 45 minutes in today, which is my minimum goal for the day. I hope all is well with you all. Have a good day.

Hey Hey Hey,
How are we getting through the holidays with food choices and fitness.
I am trying hard but I can't say I am perfect by any means.
Also there is my latest addiction Sweet onion chicken teriyaki subs from subway.
There are worse things though.
Hope your feeling better soon Toni.

I will be in Bismarck Thursday and Friday for staff meetings so may not have time to check in. I know I won't be excercising those two days other than after meeting on Friday, lots of walking for shopping. I am going to be wearing my pedometer and tracking my steps from today and through the month. Goal is: 7500 steps/day and hopefully more.

Taking my oldest granddaughter out for dinner tomorrow night as she turns 17 tomorrow. Oh my how the time flys.

Up to Fargo today to donate blood. I couldn't understand why I could never find a donation site close to me on the Red Cross website...until I was playing around online one day and came across the website for aabb.org. Figured I'd give it a shot. Turns out that the Red Cross doesn't work in this area! I really wish they would have told me that when I called to find out what the deal was. Instead, they just didn't get back to me.

Greetings fellow North Dakotans: I'm back again. I started again on Saturday night. So far, things have been going well. I know it's not a long streak, but it's a good start. I've been tracking and exercising more. I know that both of those things greatly enhance my chance of doing better.

I am wishing the best for all of you. I'll be back.

Or I believe you can just go on walk at home's web site and pick it up. You don't have to be a member of her club.

I got a 5 mile fatburning walk in this morning. Comes out to about 20 miles/week that you walk. Tomorrow is a two mile booster.
