I think all neighborhoods must have at least one of those neighbors ---I sure do. Mine complains about everything. Must be sad to have life that you LOOK for things to complain about.

My vent is that our next door neighbors park in front of my house. I realize that I'm being petty and its a public street but its annoying. THEN if you can believe it, those same neighbors complained to my husband that the new people who moved in on the other side of them have too many cars and are parking in front of their yard.

Yea that is crazy rude isn't it.

I got back from a 5 mile woodsy trail walk only to find that my SPAT had fallen off my shoe. SO SAD! After 24 hours and a pretty good rain, my daughter agreed to re-walk the trail and look for the SPAT with me. Silly enterprise, but....Would you believe we found it???!!!

Happy again.

Was rolling right along , getting in my exercise and feeling great , but, boom yesterday I woke with a strange feeling and couldn't walk straight when I tried. Don't know what this was but headachy all day and sick to stomach feeling all day. Feeling much better this morning.

Ughh I know losing a pound is a pound but I've been working soo hard this week I would have liked to have seen a larger number! But my fitness coach keeping saying strong is the new skinny and I'm gaining muscle that you can't always go by the scale that's why measurements are important too. I just want to see the numbers dropping!

LiaLove, Yesterday was indeed beautiful, and so is today. Didn't take advantage yesterday, but will definitely do so today.
I, too have been a bit off-track lately, both in nutrition and exercise, but still managing to maintain. I have forced myself to stay in the habit of tracking, mostly so healthy living doesn't have a chance to fall off my mental radar.
I don't really have a soda issue - never really touch the stuff. For me it's ice-cream and the muffins my teen-aged DS bakes.
My biggest vent and frustration this week is keeping calm while teaching DS to drive my stick-shift car.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.

LiverGiver-
The weather here is amazing right now!!! I just had to walk the dog, and for the first time I didn't have to wear my top coat!
I'm very frustrated right now.... I overate the past few days... Thankfully I've been tracking it and still being active with doing my 15 minute dog walks each day, and 30 minutes on my upright bike.. I'm taking Body Pump at the Y tomorrow, too. Just kind of amazed at how my calorie intake went up and out of control the past few days. For example:
My daily calorie intake/limits is between: 1,200-1,550
on 3/5 I ate 1,470 Cals.
on 3/6 I ate 1,736 Cals
on 3/7 I ate 2,060 Cals
and today I ate 1,550 Cals, and I haven't even had dinner yet.
I'm trying to come to terms with this and take this as a learning lesson instead of beating myself up about it.
Today I had a bottle (20oz) of Mtn. Dew, which I haven't had in months and now I realize why. I tracked it AFTER I drank all of it and I won't be doing that again!! Who knew just one bottle had 91 mgs of Caffeine, 290 Cals, and 77 grams of SUGAR!!!! Never again, my friends!

What all do y'all have to vent about??

Frustration yesterday was the battery gave out in my Fitbit. Don't know how long it was down but when I realized my sweet hubby went to CVS and got another to replace it. Everything is fine now. emoticon

Good Morning All...Chemo went well yesterday! I was able to use the dexamethasone IV and turn it into 11800 steps! WooHoo! That is equivalent to 5.9 miles! I really like the new tracker because I sure wouldn't have gotten credit for all of this without it! So I can highly recommend it!

Take care all and talk to you in the morning!!!! Have a great day! And stay positive!!!!! I will carry each one of you with me and close in heart!!!!

All things in moderation. Instead of focusing on the foods you can't have, set goals to eat more of the foods that you know are good for you. This is a much more positive way to think about your goals and get results. Plus, allowing yourself portion-controlled servings of the food you're thinking about banning will keep you happy and content, but also prevent crazed binges that can occur when you're feeling weak.

Ahah! I have always seen emoticon when it came to anything emoticon . Which is why I always ended up pigging out on it. Now I know I can emoticon to chocolate instead of setting myself up for a total blow out.

I'm going to amend my goals to put a more positive spin on my relationship to chocolate. (It's my one remaining vice in life so I really don't intend to give it up forever.)

Have a great week everybody!

I am off today to a Tea for Breast Cancer at 10 AM this morning. We have a minister of music who will sing several songs today and she is really an uplifting inspiration to me. She donates all of her time that she spends with cancer patients and gatherings like this. I really break down when she does “My Hero”. But then there is nothing more inspirational and positive than the aftermath!!! I am going to enjoy today and prep for the upcoming round of chemo all next week!!!!

Okay, I will try out the SP tracker on my SmartPhone and my iPad. I like that LoseIt works on both and that I can update on either device and it updates on both. I'm such a geek sometimes! I want to use the short exercise videos that I get in my emails, but I haven't scrunched in the time for those yet.

Thanks for the input.

I think once you get used to the SP trackers, you will love them. To me, I find them more user friendly than some of the other tracking sites/apps. Actually my nutritionist had wanted me to use the LOSEIT app, but it only frustrated me after using SP which is much more user friendly. I have the SP app on my smartphone, it's cool how I can track throughout the day.

Just stay focused & take one step at a time. You can do this.

I am new to SP and really want to do better. About three years ago I lost 60 pounds, but I have gained the majority of it back. I am especially frustrated with myself coupled with the fact that I have been in a depressive episode (I have Major Depressive Disorder, a fancy name for depression.); therefore, I eat, and I eat whatever is convenient. As we all know, convenience foods are typically not healthy.

I love technology and am really hoping that this site and this team will help me to get back on track. I looked into the SP app, but it did not have very many good reviews. Hmmmm. Can't decide about that. I do like the LoseIt app, and I can scan barcodes with it. I may try using it and tracking the food on the SP site as well. Hard to tell as I haven't really started logging what I eat yet.

Help! SPNC

First of all, do you have a smartphone? If so, if you have the SP app, you can scan the barcode/upc code & it will add the food item to your tracker.

2nd, try to add something as closed to the nutritional count as possible. Sometimes if I can't find my food item, but there may be something similar in close calorie range, then I will use that.

Hope these help, you can also contact the SP coaches & they may have other suggestions that will help you get your tracking groove on.

I also have trouble with the food tracker. Since I just joined I haven't yet started using the meal planer and might not all the time. When I try to put in what I ate there isn't anything in that catagory that matches, ie, instead of milk I drink almond milk. The only substitution listed is soy milk. I also eat a healthy buy very strange concoction of oatmeal and flaxseed plus a few other things for breakfast that won't be on any list.

Tammy,

together we can do this.

Welcome to the NC & to Sparkpeople, it's great to have you with us. Yes, the site can be overwhelming because there is so much it offers. Just take it one thing at a time, focus on one thing and then add to it. Food tracking is important, but I must admit I fall sometimes in this area as well. Just persist & do what you can, it does get easier with time.

I am new to Sparkpeople and I find it kind of confusing. I do fairly well with my eating for a while and then I loose it. I am hoping to get over this bad habbit this time around. I have been in NC for 4 years now and my family lives in OH. I get to see them 2 times a year which is great but I am very lonely a lot of the time and "SURPRISE" I eat when I shouldn't.

Tammy,

together we can do this.

I know you are glad to be out of the classroom setting. Enjoy your weekend.

Heading out with DH for a seafood supper, then home to relax & start our 3 day weekend. Will be traveling to SC Sunday after church to visit my parents for a belated Mothers Day & belated Dad's birthday.

I spent the entire day yesterday in a room with a student taking an Algebra EOC. No book, no phone, no paper, no computers, no talking allowed. The student didn't finish. BLaaaahhhh!

Oh my, you are juggling so much right now, I could not even fathom that much on my plate, no pun intended. Have you tried to just exercise or some other activity to help with the stress @ least for being able to have a relaase. I know when I'm all worked up about something, a walk helps to clear my mind & also relaxes me. Cardio is a good alternative to letting the stress take over. Just some suggestions that work for me.
Hope things ease up or at least you find a way to cope with the life stresses in your day to day.

It sounds like you may have hit a plateau. You may need to change something up about your routine to trick your metabolism into working again. Perhaps decrease your calories one day but increase the next day but just so you are still balancing out for the correct amount over a weeks time or even change your workout time & intensity.

Things have been going really well and I have been consistently losing weight every week until 2 weeks ago. Now I am gaining and losing the same pound. I'm staying at 1200-1300 calories and exercising. I am starting to get discouraged. emoticon

I would take a look at what you are eating in the evenings. Maybe you aren't balanced with protein & carbs, perhaps too much sugar? I know that's what I've found to be the problem with me. Have a balance of carbs & protein, maybe a small apple with cheese or peanut butter or even a handful of nuts.

Here it is straight up. I'm hungry. I'm so hungry that my tummy growls (loudly enough to scare small children) and my back hurts. I'm serious. It wakes me up at night. I get a bite to eat and it eases up. I'm following the guidelines that I got from SparkPeople and keep my calories/nutrition at the top end but that does not seem to be enough. (By the way... reasonable and even generous.) How am I going to ever reach my goal if eating like a normal person is not enough?

I know what you mean...I had to order out to Zaxbys today, chose what I thought was a healthier sandwich ...the Cajun Chicken sandwich, boy was I suprised to see there was 700+ calories in that sandwich!

The biggest challenge I have had is last minute preparation or last minute meals. Sometimes I have to eat on the go and it is really hard to decide which foods are better for me.

My go to snack when I have a sweet craving is putting a tblsp of nutella in my yogurt. It is a creamy chocolaty snack that has protein. I do watch to see if my calories etc. are OK for adding it. emoticon

I was told by my trainer today that it is okay to occasionally give in to the sweet tooth. But when you do, do not take any more than 2 to 3 bites and get rid of it. Then immediately drink some water with stevia in it. That should satisfy your craving without breaking the calorie bank. I thought it sounded good so I am going to try it. I ate a slice of homemade cake and pie on Easter which was not good.

the best thing I'm doing about the dessert issue is cutting out sugar for Lent. Last night at this Jan Karon thing I went to at church downtown Raleigh the meal was a buffet. Since it was Sunday I freely grazed on EVERYTHING. Today I'm paying for it. Funny to me how yuck I can feel after over eating, especially on the sugar.

I just wonder if I will keep up the once a week sugar hit after Easter.

Hi Yogi: I originally come from NY and then moved near Baltimore, MD when my son in law was stationed there so I could help out my daughter with my then 4 month old grandson. Now he is going to be 7(yikes) and there is a 3 yr old too and now he is going to be stationed at Ft Bragg. We are moving down there to be with them again to help out. Looking for apartments in the surrounding areas for hubby and I and then dtr and her family.
Wanted to just say I find desserts the hardest too. Since I have started back on SP and WW, have been to the Golden Corral 2 times. I loaded up on salad, rotisserie chicken, 1 pc of my beloved bruschetta(my supreme weakness) and fruit and just got so full I didnt even go up to the dessert bar. It was tough but I knew if I did it would be hard. So my advice is just fill up on the salad bar, the veggies and fruit and hopefully you will be too full to worry about dessert. If it's really tough, keep an aloowed program dessert and have it when you get home to compensate. Gale

I want to be a person I can look up to.

What works for me is "moderation". It's ok to have an occasional sweet dish as long as it's in moderation.

DBELLE, I think most of those kinds of drivers live here in NC. It is getting to be a cut throat society, or some of the time. Just pray that people would learn to love one another the way the Lord intended!

Hope you & your DH are feeling better soon WILLITWORK. Make sure to stay well hydrated & get lots of rest.

I guess my vent today is not understanding why some drivers have no regard for their own lives or anyone elses. On my way in to work, traveling in a 60 mph zone on the 4 lanes, had a driver that nearly took off my front bumper to get in front of me, I actually had to brake to keep from hitting her, she went about 1/2 mile & did the same manuever again to get back into the right lane to merge off to another major highway, this time nearly clipping 2 vehicles in the process. ARGGHHH!!!

My frustration today is time. I can't seem to find the time to do all the things I want to do as well as the things I need to do. Today I'm missing a golf tournament because I need time to catch up on housework and other errands. I think I will have to cut short the amount of time I spend on Spark People site. emoticon

No advice from the nurse, guess she figured since I had them before than I could handle it well. I just don't remember having this much soreness from the injection area.
She called to give me the lab report --no exactly the results I wanted, my A1C is too high, still. Although my Triglycerides are still too high, they did drop quite a bit in the past 3 months, but still work to be done.

So sorry about the arm, DBelle. Surely it will be better soon. Any instructions from the giver of the shot. Like, should you keep it moving to help the soreness?

You are welcome. Mine raised me til she got sick when I was 16, so I have lots of memories to cherish.

Mentioning grandma brings to mind beautiful memories. I remember mine rocking and singing"Amazing Grace". I think she rocked all of us to sleep with the hymn. She also kept us knowing what was right and wrong. Thanks for the mention!

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.

That's so rude of them to do that. Whatever activities we plan, we try to not impose on others as I try to be as respectful of others as I would want. Grandmas taught me to live my the golden rule, even though she's no longer with us, I still remember alot of the things she taught me growing up, oh how I miss her so much, especially this time of year.

My vent this morning is uncaring neighbors. Our neighbors were having an outside party last night that kept me awake. Their music was blaring for all to hear until 1:00 AM. I have red eyes this morning due to no sleep

DBELLE39 and GOLFGMA - Prayers for your parents and healing. It is difficult to see our parents ill and suffering but He gives us the strength to carry through. Take care, both of you.

With God, all things are possible
