Today was a day I do not want to repeat. It has been hot hot hot here and after acupuncture at noon, I got in the car and cranked up the air conditioner. Horrible noise and no air coming through, but a bad odor. Since I had to wait until 5pm to pick up a dog food order, I decided to stop by the Toyota dealership and see what was wrong. A rat had gotten into the fan and built a nest. The look on the mechanicís face said it allónot a pleasant time. After two hours, there was a part missing and they sent me home in a loaner. Tired to the bone!

My best friend is allergic to my cat :0 I always try to keep him out of the guest room. She has only been here once. It is a nightmare for her. I can't imagine it either
We came back from our camping trip early. It looked like the weather was going to be real bad up their . Hubby said there was no way he was going to be stuck inside a tent or have to bug out during a storm with the girl LOL so they are sleeping in there sleeping bags here . They were sort of bummed out . But better to be safe then sorry .
It was so nice up in Cloud Croft like an enjoyable 74* It was 97* down here emoticon
We will start going up more often after Hubby gets back from Houston.
Have a nice visit with your friend

Here's hoping you can visit with your grandson next week!

I've got to clean the house before Friday. I have a friend coming to stay over the Fourth and she is allergic to all things animal. So I try really hard to at least sweep through before she comes. I cannot imagine being allergic to animals!

Have to babysit the motel this afternoon, so better get a few more things done.

Enjoy your day!

The world has sure gotten tougher with all the new relationship rules .
My house probably needed the cleaning anyway.

Oh, ICK!

I'm sorry about the grandson situation. Similar situation with my youngest granddaughter. Her mother will not cooperate with my son and it makes for long times between visits. I just have accept that the relationship will not be as wonderful as with other grandchildren. But it aches the heart.

we had a wolf spider in the bath tub about 2 weeks ago. Jimmy went to wash it down the drain and all the babies ran off his back. It even grossed him out LOL emoticon

I was hoping to go to Las Cruses this morning after to work to visit with my grandson. I have not seen him in about a year. My son is dead and mom has issues so she is hard to find. :( They grow so fast at this age he will never know me . He is already 2 1/2

Oh well guess I will go chop down some of the creosotes bushes in the back yard they are getting to bushy.
Then when it gets to hot I will come in and do the floors BOOO a visit sounded so much better. LOL
Later I need to force myself to go get hay
Have a nice day emoticon

Snakes have never bothered me, but spiders just send me into spasms of heart pounding terror. And if the web 'crackles', that is a black widow. Since moving to the Jemez, I have seen some of the most ugly, weird looking spiders. I am convinced that most of them are radioactive from Los Alamos! I even had a tarantula on the front closet door one time. Guests had left the front door open. and there it was crawling up the interior door. It was big and all I could think was squashing it would be like squashing a small mammal. I got a big glass and a piece of thin cardboard, put the glass over the spider, slid the cardboard under the glass, and was supposed to release it outside. I got outside and just threw the whole thing as far and hard as I could. UGH.

We have them here too. I see them in the well house and the sheds. EWWWWW I got bit by a spider when I was pregnant with my son. It was awful. My hand was swollen and itchy. They could not give me anything to help because of the pregnancy. I always have a terrible reaction to bug bites. That is one of my favorite thing about NM Not many biting bugs... Well in comparison to the other places I have lived .

I developed a serious dislike for snakes when I lived in Florida . I never knew where one would come from. They could be in a box ,a ceiling panel, a flower bed ANYWHERE ready willing and able to fall out on your head. UGH total "depends" territory for me

I've never enjoyed close encounters with snakes, but they won't fly across large spaces to bite and kill you. I'm quite convinced that most spiders will. emoticon I've got a particular problem with black widows and I see one every summer around my laundry room. That's about enough to keep me in the apartment and completely away from laundry rooms for the whole summer... emoticon

I thankfully am not afraid of spiders. I used to be a girl scout leader and would take 15 girls into the wilds of NJ .Those girls were afraid of out houses too. They would pee in the woods hahaha. Now snakes on the other hand totally creep me out..
We have a nice air mattress that we take. I can no longer sleep on the ground myself. In fact my knees are starting to get real bad. I have trouble getting up. This getting older thing is for the birds.
We have been wanting to take them. This will be a good test run .
I dug out the go fish and the old maid card. Bet they have never played that before .

Amen to that Val! Once, as a kid, I went to an aunt's cabin with an outhouse. Saw a spider the size of my hand the first time I went in. I don't think I peed again until I went home a week later!

I bet your girlies will think it is a big adventure Arlene! Enjoy the camping and the grandkids.

Painting is messy for sure. I have several sets of old painty clothes that I use when painting. That way I don't have to worry about wiping a brush or hand on them.

I guess you'll find out. When I was a kid I never really had a problem with peeing in the woods. The problem for me sometimes was peeing in the outhouses you find at camping sites in the woods. I'd freak if I could see spider webs when I'd lift the lid. To this day I'm still convinced that deadly spiders are waiting inside those toilets to jump up and bite me on the privates. I haven't gone camping in about 20 years because sleeping on the ground causes me so much pain, but if I did go camping again I think I'd prefer peeing in the woods to using a nasty spider infested outhouse...

There was much rejoicing!

I love to paint :) I can be messy too at times ;)
Sounds like you had a productive day.
I made two batches of plum jam today and fry up the 3 eggplant that were in the garden. I turned them into eggplant parm and put them in the freezer .
We have been planning a camping trip and have been trying to get our gear in order . It seems we always have some sort of brain fade first trip out. Got a text from my daughter in law today she needs a sitter on Friday her day care is closed SOOO we are going to drive back down to Alamogordo Thursday afternoon and pick them up. Should be interesting . We primitive camp. I wonder if the grand girlies can pee in the woods emoticon emoticon

I've got one side almost finished. Need to add a phone number and attach the letters and the metal lizard. THEN I get to start all over on the other side! But now the dogs are no longer in the same room with the paint!

OH DEAR!!!!!!! There is never a dull moment with dogs ,kids and paint ;) My lab did that years ago. Not thinking to the extent you described though. Hope your car wasn't too bad, I will usually notice something on the cars and ask about it. Hubby never knows anything. We are the only two who drive them Hmmm seems a little suspicious to me that he knows nothing . At least your honey was honest about it .
Hope your today is less eventful.
It has been a rainy kind of a day down here. It sprinkles on and off. Really need to be in the veggie garden after two days of neglect . Had a great visit with the grand girlies though. They enjoyed making their mini gardens and the movie we saw was so adorable. It was called "Inside Out" I love pixar movies. The animation and the stories are usually wonderful.
Okay back to work with me.
I am trying to do a facebook page for the local farmer's market . emoticon

Yesterday was a three stooges/marx brothers kind of day. I painted the boards for the base of the motel sign I am doing with primer. Sat down to wait for them to dry and got involved in my Kindle. Looked up at one point and about died. One of the dogs had stepped in the paint pan (and she really had to work at getting to the paint because it was between two paint cans and under a chair) and tracked paw prints throughout the house) and because I was screeching like a mad woman, Caly was having nothing to do with me and continued tracking paint everywhere. Finally got her and the rest outdoors. Immediately doused the floors with water and steamed them. Then got soapy water and started scrubbing with a brush. Most of it came up after about two hours of scrubbing. Luckily I have brick floors and any left over paint just adds a patina (yeah, right!). So I'm scrubbing like mad and knock a glass off a table and it shatters in the middle of my suds. Finish cleaning that up and realize that Caly had also jumped on a leather chair to look out the window. By that time I decided to leave her pretty little paw prints on the chair--a reminder to be more careful with paint and dogs. This morning Bob tells me he didn't have the heart to tell me last night that he dinged my car. Haven't the nerve to go see what that means! So ... back to painting today.

The humidity gets me more than the heat. I feel like a limp rag. Now I grew up in the midwest and I KNOW what real humidity feels like, but we get used to DRY and it is not dry right now. We've had a couple of showers already today with more scheduled. I have a friend that moved here from New Orleans. She used to laugh at me when I complained about the humidity. She has been here about two years and I caught her complaining last week! We both had a laugh at that!

The humidity is also causing problems with my painting--creating a new sign for the motel and the paint is taking forever to dry. Oh well, it gives me time to do laundry between the coats of paint.

Everyone enjoy your day.

Our house thankfully stays cool for most of the day. It seems much cooler today. Last night the winds shifted and it actually was cooler outside then in so we opened the doors for a while.
We did go for an early hike and I would not want to be working in the yard right now.My phone app says 87* 34% humidity .
I will probably turn the air in in about an hours and close the doors.
Stay cool emoticon

Right now the Weather Channel app I've got on my desktop says that it's 78 degrees and only 41 percent humidity...I think the Weather Channel is lying. Either that or they're just not very good meteorologists. emoticon When I got off work at 10:30, I walked out into the parking lot and I thought I was going to die because it was so muggy. I think if I sit in front of a fan every moment that I'm at home for the next 3 or 4 months I might just survive until my lease runs out on March 11th...

I am going to start doing that Val Thanks. I always rip it up. I will win eventually when we first bought this place we had 3 acres of goat heads. I have seen very few so far this year. It was a real battle. This is our 7th Summer . I am always pulling the tumble weeds out too. They used to be every where.
Hubby chopped a hole into the wall two years ago and installed a A/C window unit :/ Our window won't accommodate one. I am not thrilled about the way it looks AT ALL . It is way better then the swamp cooler in this house though. That does not work at all. Some DIY person attempted duck work and truly blew it,not to mention the unit its too small for the house.
I have one grand daughter today. The other one had a stomach thing :( hoping she will be able to join the fun tomorrow.
Have a great night

Thanks for the info on bindweed Vali! I have been hoeing hoeing hoeing and hope to eventually get rid of it--but it will take a couple of years. Nightshade is nasty stuff too Arlene. (and poisonous). That is in the garden too. Globe mallow is pretty and in the right place looks great. But it takes over a small space and I want showier plants in this garden.

I was in Albuquerque yesterday--south valley, in a big tin box (metal building). It had swamp coolers and insulation and I still thought I would have a heat stroke! Even the dogs seemed limp.

Taking a friend in today for a medical procedure--sure hate that. It is a bit cooler up here. We are planning on replacing the swamp cooler with real air conditioning this year so I understand wanting to move to an apartment with refrigerated cooling! I always think of evaporative cooling like this: get a big sponge, set it in a pan of water and turn on a fan behind it. Not much relief, but better than nothing.

Enjoy your day folks!

I just read this about bind weed. Hopefully it will be helpful...

How to Get Rid of Bindweed:

Vigilance and persistence are the two most useful weapons in your arsenal against bindweed. Watch for signs of this vine, and remove it as quickly as possible. The best way to get rid of bindweed is to cut it off at soil level. Don't bother pulling it up; it will just sprout wherever you tore the roots (and you will. It's impossible to get all of the roots out.) By continually cutting it off at ground level, and doing it as soon as you possibly can, you will eventually starve the plant (since it will be unable to photosynthesize) and it will die.

Man alive, it's been HOT in Albuquerque for the last couple of days! We had such a nice cool summer last year with not a single day over 100 degrees that I knew this year was going to be nasty and hot, and so far it certainly hasn't "disappointed." I've been told that it got up to 103 yesterday, and I can believe it. I don't work on Mondays so I did my best to stay inside where it was less warm. (I can't say "cool" because my apartment has a swamp cooler, and they don't really work very well when the temperature is over 80 degrees or the humidity is over 10 percent, which it always is here at night for some dang reason.) I'm not working next week and one of the things I have planned is to look at other apartment complexes so that I can move into a place with an honest to goodness air conditioner when my lease is up at the end of February.

I went to the petroglyphs in the spring one time about 25 years ago. At that time you could actually get up pretty close and see a lot of them. It was really neat, but I haven't gone in years and I certainly would not be brave enough to go in the summer because I have a health condition that doesn't deal at all well with heat. Anyway, I hope that everyone is having a great week...and that we can all stay cool until summer ends sometime in October...

There was much rejoicing!

I have both of those plants in my yard. I have been fighting a loosing battle for years. I sort of like the globe mallow . I did not know what the bind weed was until I just Googled it. It is a pain in the keester for sure.I also have a ton of silvery nightshade. The flowers are pretty but it is a pain and very prolific .

I really like the the 3 river pertogylph site . It is hot there too. You have to get in and out early. We will often ride out there on the motor cycle hike to the covered bench on the top .have breakfast and then hike back down. Even in the winter on a sunny day it is warm . It is also a different type of rock. The place in Albuquerque was definitely hotter .

Chimayo is amazing. I can see why people make the pilgrimage now. They also have a very nice Santo Nino chapel there. I did not know about that . I just love Santo Nino.It was closing so I did not get a really good look around. We got there late in the day.

Hope you get caught up on your laundry . I hate when that gets piled up.

I finished my rock row in the yard YEAH . Guess my next yard mission will be to transplant the Russian sage renegades. They seem to come up in very interesting spots.. Will do that next week.
I am picking up the granddaughters for a over night. I need to come up with a cool project. They always look forward to doing something creative. I am thinking we will make fairy houses and do a fairy garden Has to be easy enough for a 6 year old but challenging enough for a 12 year old .
Have fun with the poochie. I sure hope she is feeling better and that her skin has cleared up :)

I hate to say it but I've never been to Chimayo or the Petroglyph Park. Before the park was established (or at least well known) I had a friend that lived up there and it just baked the brain in the summer. I am glad you enjoyed Chimayo. I know several people that make the Good Friday trek every year and they all rave about the energy.

The garden at the motel has been neglected for years and is over grown with globe mallow and what I would like to think is NOT bind weed, but probably is. Today I am hoping to work on that with some stump and vine killer painted on the cut stems. I do not like using poisons but have been weeding for weeks and I cannot get all of the roots out. Hopefully this will help without doing damage to anything else.

Today is also dog training. I have been neglecting the daily training for the past couple of weeks and need to get back to that habit. Hopefully we can begin competing in late August/early September at the show over Labor Day weekend in Albuquerque.

Today is also catchup on laundry--piles and piles of the stuff: the motel washer broke yesterday so have to do that here too.

Enjoy your day all!

It has gotten hot pretty fast. I got so much done in the yard before it did. Seems to be late this year.
We were at the petroglyph place early so the hear was not really bad yet. It was a nice walk My body really appreciated it after the night in the motel 6 What a total dive that place was .I was disappointed that there were so few glyphs to be spotted . It was all roped off. Not sure if there were really few or if the sun was just shinning wrong. We only did one trail there then got back on the road.
We made Chimayo. That place is gorgeous and has a really cool energy . We did not go to Toas because we wanted to get home earlier in the day.
Sounds like you had a good trip too :) I have finished catching up and I am back to attempting to finish my new rock row. I am still pulling weed. Something called hookers purse or slippers I am trying to get out of the yard. That goes to the burn pile the tumble weeds g to the goats .
Okay off to work with me. Enjoy your day :) emoticon

Taos might have been a better choice heatwise! The Petroglyph Park would be a nice choice in late fall or in the winter--all of those rocks just radiate heat. I can't believe how hot it got so quickly. I'm NOT adjusting well! Ah well it is June and we are just getting to where we should be. I guess I should be thankful for the cool weather we have had up until now.

Going to do some resting today and always laundry.

Enjoy this day.

Glad to hear your trip went well :)
Our dog sitter did a great job too. Acoma was beyond my expectations . It was a really cool place. The hotel was also terrific. On our second day we stayed at a motel 6I am pretty sure there were blood stains on the ceiling It was a rat hole. We were in Espanola . We had squeezed in Chimayo . What a cool energy that place has.
We opted not to go up to Toas but instead went to petroglyph national park Albuquerque . We walked one of the trails . It was so disappointing after going to 3 rivers AND IT WAS HOT!!!
We were really good about out eating too. I also finds sweets a little rich these days. I did have so blue corn tortillas that made me very happy though
Hope your hubby gets your cooler going . We are going to need them again today. I am thankful that after work I get to drive to Ruidoso fro PT Lots of A/C there in the car LOL

How was your trip Arlene? Hope it was fun!

We had a good time with family and enjoyed the wedding. The reception was great too! A red rip your lips off chile to put on shredded beef and a tossed salad on the side. One bite of cake to say how good it was (actually too sweet for my newly refined taste!) and then lots of hugs and laughter.

But who turned the heat on!? Could not believe how hot it was when we arrived home today. Bob is up working on the cooler right now. Hopefully he can at least get the fan working to blow some of the heat out of the house. I think he needs some parts to get it completely working. It has been so cool, we haven't needed it until NOW! Maybe we should go sleep at the motel tonight! The rooms there are air conditioned!

Our pet sitter was GREAT. She loved it and the dogs loved her! So nice to have a person I can count on to stay with the dogs.

Hope everyone enjoyed their day.

I've said it before--Cloudcroft is a wonderful place and cool. And it looks like it is going to get HOT this week. This is a busy and stressful week. We are getting ready to travel to my granddaughter's wedding this weekend and trying to get everything in order before we leave. I will breathe a sigh of relief when the car door closes and we drive out of the driveway!

Lots to do.

Enjoy your day everyone!

The weeks and days do go by so fast. I think that is a blessing too. Better then being bored out of your mind. I hope I never find myself feeling that way.
Been real hot down this way :/ I guess we can't have it all.
We worked in the yard for a bit on Thursday. Friday we took the dogs up to cloud Croft and managed to not have 2 flat tires LOL Thank Goodness It was so cool and relaxing up there. Can't wait to start sneaking off for our over night camping trips .
Hope your day has been sweet. I washed windows after work now just waiting for it to cool down a bit later to get some things done in the garden

Where did the week go!? Here it is Friday and it feels like Wednesday tops! Lots of meetings, lots of trips into town.

I love old friends too. They are so precious. New friends, especially at my age are hard to find, though I have been blessed with those too. All in all to have a supporting group of friends make life worth living! It's all about the laughter!

Arlene, I am glad you found someone to take care of your babies. I leave next week and hope things turn out well here.

I love gardening, but you are right--it can do a number on the back.

Enjoy the day.

Nothing better in the whole world then old friends. I met my best friend in kindergarten .We celebrated our 50th years as friends this year. We have just been through everything together. I wish she was closer.. She is still in NJ thankfully we have the phone . I also love face book for keeping up with my friends. I am jealous.
I had a quiet weekend. Yeah . The sweet lady that is going to house sit came over and got briefed about everyone . Everyone seemed to like her just fine :)
This morning after work I made my kombucha and have my yogurt incubating :)
I played in the garden for a bit moving some rocks. It started to sprinkle pretty heavy so now an back inside. Probably not a bad thing my back has really been acting up . I hate to be still though. I swear that makes it worse .
Now I am off to make a dream catcher for my girlfriends granddaughter.
Have a great day at dog training emoticon

We got some sprinkles here at the house, but the motel got a good shower. We are only a mile apart, but it is like two different countries!

It was a busy weekend. A party for a friend with lots of her friends flying in for her birthday and a mutual friend staying at my home. We've been friends for over forty years so it was a chance to catch up and be lazy.

Today is full of meetings, taking one of the friends to the airport and dog class. I will be glad to get through to the dog class!

Enjoy your day all!

My Rottweiler was like that.I had a dog I groomed. He also wanted to be groomed LOL what is it you trim on a Rotti. I would shave his paw pads ...LOL and he would stand like a horse to have his nails done . Silly guy would catch porcupines. he thought quill removal was a game hahahahaha He was the most polite dog. always happy loved everyone.

We lost all of our old dogs :( it is so sad to watch them decline. We lost the last of our big dogs last year. Have not been in a rush to replace them either . I hope you still have time with your older girl.

our boys are 7 already :0 time goes too fast .

We are going to work in the yard for a few hours before go out for a motorcycle ride.. LOL wonder how my back and knees are going to feel about that ?

My weight is holding around 123 I am so happy to be at this point. Never thought I would see it again .

Have a wonderful 'weekend'. I know what you mean about being able to relax! Yeah, like that is going to happen!

Summer seems to finally arrived-it was hot today. I'll give it two or three days before I start complaining.

I have one dog like your tri. My oldest girl HATES having her nails done, and it is always a struggle--especially now, she doesn't want me to touch her and I know she is hurting. Even with the pain medication she walks very slowly. I'm afraid it is only a matter of time. The three littlest dogs are easy--on their backs between my knees and then I use the dremel on them. My boy gives me his paws one at a time to dremel.

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

I did do both .. Sometimes I question my sanity ...... UGH and then I had to clean the bathroom because I just put them in the tub. ( Actually I get in the tub with them ) We made a mess ;)
They look so handsome now though. We did nails a few days ago. The little Tri hates his nails done with a passion . Worse dog I have ever owned as far as that goes :(
Those Springs sound wonderful . I am going to write down the names and Google them .
Hope your dog training day was wonderful :)
Today is my Friday . I ran my errands after work WHOO HOOO ! Now I can relax hahaha as if we ever just do that emoticon

Well, you COULD wash both! Just kidding.

The springs are lovely here. Several people have private springs at their homes, but there are several public and private springs that are available. I love to soak at the Giggling Springs, a private spring that you can pay to use. The Bathhouse is nice too, but they use indoor tubs and I would rather be outside. My favorite 'wild' bathing is at San Antonio Hot Springs, but if the road is closed it is a 5 mile trek in (and out--which is a lot harder after soaking!). And I'm not sure I own a vehicle I'd want to take on the road. The pools there start out very hot and the water drops into a series of pools going down the cliff side. You get to choose the warmth you want.

Today is dog training and I need to do nails on all of the dogs.

Enjoy your day all--I certainly intend to do just that!

All the drilling they do makes me nervous. I am not really sure how they can pump all that stuff on the ground and claim to get it all back out with out eventually polluting the ground water we need to survive.

I love fajitas and I am a sucker for a tortilla. I can pass on the sopapillas.

I would love to see your hot springs. I have been to the springs in Arkansas . .They are amazing.
Oh well off to work with me. Not sure if I ma going to bathe dogs or wash carpets later LOL Both are in desperate need

Just got back from Cuba--there was a meeting at the forest service office to give opinions of the geothermal drilling that may be happening in the Jemez. It looks like a 5-10 year project before it ever gets off the ground, but needs to have an eye on it during the process. I need more info on how the drilling might affect the hot springs in our village and surrounding areas--that is our major source of income: tourism and the hot springs are a huge draw. I'd hoped to see my sister who lives in Cuba and have dinner, but she must be away--couldn't get hold of her. Nice drive and it is marvelous to see everything green! AND we had dinner anyway. Fajitas make for a good LC dinner as long as you don't eat the tortillas and sopapillas!

Time for bed--hope everyones' day was fantastic.

My mom loved breaking bad. I just shook my head when she told me that. It was a pretty good show ;)

Jimmy has netflix so he just streams a lot of the shows we watch. Or we get the DVD from them for the stuff they do not stream. When he is not home I never even have the TV on so the Dish was sort of a waste for us. It has been a bit tough being a year behind on the shows I do like but so far I have survived .
I do not like to sit in one place for too long either. My knees sort of lock up if they are stuck in one position for too long. At least I can squirm a little in the car the motor cycle is about impossible .I was talking to my therapist today about my dumb knees. Not sure if he can help or if I will have to check ito it further. I really hate going to the ortho guys. They always want to do rotten things. or they say it is arthritis LOL. EVERYTHING seems to be arthritis .
I really do not stop to help people anymore either. I do call the emergency number and report a problem though . I was really shocked by the sheriff not stopping.
Oh well I hope your day was wonderful :)

We don't have HBO either, but have a movie/tv night show we watch with a friend who does. We bring dinner every other week and it is a good social occasion as well. We were getting ready to watch an episode a couple of weeks ago and Cheryl said she could never watch Breaking Bad because it was so violent. I looked at her and laughed hysterically! No Breaking Bad, but of course Game of Thrones has no violence! When GOT is over we go on to Major Case Crime, and have started the BBC mystery that I can't think of the name right now!

The wedding is the weekend of the 19th and 20th. Not looking forward to the drive, but will be glad to see everyone. (the dogs are good travelers--me not so much!)

Such an adventure! Maybe you SHOULD have stayed home and worked! People don't feel safe about stopping anymore, but the sheriff's deputies should certainly have check with you.

I LOVE "Game of Thrones " !!! We dropped DIsh last year so we are a season behind on everything .We just watched last years show.

We have not gone to Acoma yet .We will be doing that mid June. AM pretty excited. Our dogs are good travelers too.We usually just camp. I love to camp. This will be a BIG adventure for us staying in a hotel LOL

We worked in the yard on Thursday .I felt we needed to get out away from the house or we would work all day Friday too. SOOO we loaded up the dogs and headed up to Cloud Croft . We go on a forest road up there .It is always peaceful and cool. HAHA the minute we parked the car I heard a pop. The tire was hissing loudly as it was losing air. Hubby got the spare out and put it on LOL It was so low on air. Neither of us have checked in in such a long time . Since we weren't camping we had none of the repair stuff with us..Bless that tire it got us off the mountain and darn near into Cloud croft before it shredded .Hubby walked into town and found a place where he could fix the tire. He walked back and rolled the tire back into town. Thankfully a nice younger fella drove him back out to the car with the repaired tire.No one else even offered to help or check . We were on a curve. Crazy even two Otero county Sheriffs just drove past... Anyway I think we should have just stayed home and worked in the yard .
I have been working inside for the past two days.I freshened the guest room up . And washed the last of the dusty walls in our room today.
Picked the first 2 squash :) out of the garden .
Now I am off to have a smoothie and relax for a little while .
When do you leave on your trip?

I remember how hard it was to find someone to stay with the animals when we lived in Bosque Farms. Horses and cows were no problem. Dogs and cats--no problems. Goats--no one knows how to milk anymore! I have a couple of friends that will stay at the house and take care of the dogs while I am gone. We will take the two youngest with us--they are all good travelers from competing in dog agility, but the littlest two really like to travel.

Arlene, how did your weekend go? Hope you enjoyed your travels.

Not much going on today except laundry and gardening--moving mulch and weeding never ends! Then tonight watching 'Game of Thrones' with a friend over dinner.

Enjoy your day!

UGH I would had being married to a public figure!!!! I much prefer being and unknown. Hoping you are rural enough so that people do not chew your ear hoping you can influence him to be swayed in their favor ... People can be so rude.
There is a Dr here with e same name as mine. I can not believe how many people would call thinking it was her private number and leave message for her .I thought it was so invasive .
I wish we were going to be in Santa Fe or Toas over the weekend Looks like there is more to do.We are off on Thursday and Friday though That is a no go. I would love to check out the farmers market.

Do you have some one to watch the fur kids? WE are trying out a new person so I am nervous and excited all at the same time.

Okay better get back out side and finish weeding the last piece of this fence. Hubby helped so I got way more done then I had anticipated YEAH!!!!

Hope the day up there is lovely It is sunny and HOT down here emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can't imagine an ugly place to live in NM. All of it is inspiring in one way or another.

Chaco is supposed to be beautiful, awe inspiring and very spiritual. I would think it would affect people in various ways depending on their mindset when they visited. You will enjoy Acoma. I spent three days in Taos a couple of years ago--Bob was attending a conference for the Village. I took one of the dogs and just hung out at the plaza and surrounding areas sipping coffee, reading and people watching. That was before the knee surgery, so wasn't moving around much, but I had so much fun just relaxing.

Bob is at another conference today and tomorrow in Santa Fe (I really do not enjoy being the mayor's wife!) and someone has to mind the motel. dangnabit. We are going to my granddaughter's wedding toward the end of June and I know what you mean about finding people to watch the critters. I will take the two little ones with us, but must find a motel sitter and a dog sitter for that weekend.

Everyone enjoy your day.

All of the places up there looks so gorgeous. I need more time away :) We are trying a new person with the critters. It is hard to find someone. SO want to make it a short trip. Hubby has an appointment in Albuquerque so we though we try 2 nights away from home.

He wants to go to Acoma I would really like to see the churches in Chimayo and Toas . Have always wanted to go to Chaco Canyon. An old Pueblo women I used to do caregiving for told me to get out of the canyon before dark .That it was a bad place and it was haunted.Of course that intrigues me more but I do not want to sleep there.LOL

My old room mate was from Lansing ,MI .God people must come from there :)
I love the desert. I hope I never have to leave here. I do miss take out sometimes .But I never miss the over populated areas and noise..
Okay break time is over. I am transplanting my sweet potato slips. They never seem to multiply into new potatoes for me . HOWEVER they are gorgeous green vines :) I just put them in pots
Have a great day

We had been in NM for a year, when we took the train from ABQ to Lansing, MI to visit our families. I swear to God, by the time we got to the midwest the trees were brushing the sides of the train. I was so claustrophobic by the time we arrived I didn't know how to act. Was really glad to get back to the wide open spaces. Even here in the valley is a little confined, but I get to visit the wide open a couple of times a week.

Chaco is about an hour and a half from here and we get lots of people staying here before the trip or after. Apparently the road can be daunting, but the canyon is beautiful. I am ashamed to say we haven't visited! You might want to check out the Valles Caldera National Preserve--it just became a National Park. Gorgeous place with hiking, car trips, fishing and van tours. And of course Bandelier is just up the road from there and has wonderful old native ruins.

Enjoy your day all!

NM is amazing! I was shocked at how much life was in the desert the first time I walked in it. You can't see it just driving by . I love the openness. I was overwhelmed by that when I first got out here. A sweet little lady told me not to worry my eyes would stretch. She was so right. I am claustrophobic now when I go back east . I really hate not being able to see.

I had another fairly productive day today :) I love when I accomplish something.
I was checking out Chaco Canyon on line. We are going to go up to Acoma in June and I was seeing what else is up there . Thinking Chaco might be out because of the car we are going to take .

Hope your day was a great one too.

It sounds like you had a GREAT day Arlene! I am always amazed at the beauty all around us here in NM. From the wide open desert spaces with their amazing sunrises and sunsets to the closed in valleys with their rivers and green grasses and trees!

The gardens here are jumping too. No veggies for me, but the flowers are sure doing well. I overdid in the garden yesterday and am tired and sore today--but I did get a bunch of weeding done here at home. And hauled mulch. NOW I do have to stay inside and really catch up on the housework!

Hope your weekend is going as planned and enjoy your day all!

I have been mostly lazy for the past two days ;) Yesterday hubby and I worked about around the house then we took the dogs for a hike and a picnic.
This morning after work I drove back out to Ruidoso and met my friend from there we headed out to the Iris farm and I had another picnic. I am glad to report we ate fairly healthy foods both days.
It is so nice to sit chatting surrounded by all the beauty that is at the Hondo Iris farm
I think tomorrow I am going to have to swing my but into gear and get some things down around the house and maybe pulled some grass that is sprouting up in the veggies garden. The squash are starting to grow on the plants :) :) :) emoticon Lots of little tomatoes too .Eggplant are getting flowers I just love this time of year .
Hope Tipsy beats her itchiness soon. I have got to give my dogs a bath and blow them out :/ It is a project but they look so much cuter when it is done. Perhaps on Monday emoticon

I spent yesterday in the garden at the motel finishing the planting. Now just have to keep it weed free and watered. The rain has sure been helping with the last part! I don't remember a wetter or cooler year for May! It looks like we are even going to have a fireworks program for the Fourth in the village! We haven't had a fireworks display since 2008!

Tipsy is doing better--still itchy, but not as bad as she was. Hopefully we can get rid of this.

Today is a housework kind of day--catch up to get done, and dinner with friends.

Enjoy your day and weekend.

It is so much fun to work with a dog that works back. I think my tri colored corgi would have been a great participant if he had a good fur mom like you.
How is Tipsy doing with her food? Do you think the goat meat is helping her out her allergies ?
Antibiotics wreck a lot of things. I bet she will get her abilities back.

I spent most of the day in the house. Really wanted to vacuum and wash the floors. Have worked the last two days in the yard figures I had better spend a bite of time inside LOL SIGH emoticon

My youngest granddaughter had a kindergarten end of school concert so we went to that and then ran to do shopping while in town. I am beat emoticon
Thankfully I am off tomorrow !

I did enjoy training yesterday--Tipsy is going to be phenomenal! She really works hard to get it right. I am so excited to start competing with her. Maybe over labor day weekend. Unfortunately she has lost her ability to pick out the correct article. Evi says it is because she has been on antibiotics and it affects the scent, but will come back. I did not know that!

It is a beautiful day--still a tad cool, but blue skies and sunshine--who could ask for more? Will work in the garden today and finish laundry.

Enjoy your day all!

I only have two grand daughter close by. It is nice to see them when timing works out. We work weekends so school gets in the way. Summer it is a bit easier but they enjoy friends more and more each year as they get older.

I have been pulling so sort of wild flowers/weeds that have conquered the yard. I think my neighbor said they are called hookers slippers or purses. They are sticky and attach their leaves to your clothing :/ The goats do not eat them so I am pulling them out and taking them to the burn pile. They showed up last year UGH!!! Always something blowing through down here.
The storms must have been beautiful. As long as their is no hail I am good. The hail in this state is epic.
Heading out to the yard for a bit . Have fun with your dog training :)

I've always said that grandkids were the prize and blessing for putting up with kids! Mine are mostly grown and on their own except for one that I get to see only rarely--but sure enjoy when I do!

I am also a bit fanatical about food, and know I drive friends and family crazy.

What wonderful rain we have gotten over the past few days! We had thunderstorm after thunderstorm roll through the valley last night! It is an amazing experience with the thunder reverberating up and down the valley.

Today is dog training and I am looking forward to it.

The iris have been lovely this year. Thursday I will get the last of the plants for the motel and get them planted this weekend. THEN I just have to keep them weeded--a major chore since this garden has been neglected for 10 years or so.

Enjoy the day!

I really got nuts about food and food additives when I had my second child. I am sure I caused a lot of grey hair in those around me. It took me hours to shop.I swear my oldest son is a total wacko from listening to all of my conspiracy theories .(which by the way have panned out )

Sounds like your gardening went well today. I worked for a bit in the veggie garden ,them polished our boots hahahaha strange activity right.
Am going back to the iris farm with a girl friend for lunch on Saturday. I might pick up another iris there if they have a potted one I like ;)
Then my daughter in law and the grand girlies came for dinner. We painted some rocks after dinner. It was a great day :) emoticon

Amen Sister! I have learned so much this past five months about nutrition and healthy eating habits. I was always fairly knowledgeable about what to eat, but now have fine tuned and fine tuned some more. I really don't try to impose my eating habits on others--I really do believe each person has to make her own decision about their health, but I do try to pass on what I am learning.

I finished the planting at the motel and got some more weeding done--YAY rain! The plants all look so happy. Now I need another dozen or so to fill in! Work is never done.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Knowledge is wasted if it is not shared. I think people get tired of hearing my rants on fast food. HAHAHA I am insane when it comes to food . Just wish I could afford fresh everything .Our shopping options are limited without a road trip . I am sure you understand.I think people should work to be their very best and to take care of their bodies. They have to last our lifetime. We owe ourselves sound nutrition at a minimum .
I am enjoying our conversations as well. :)
Thanks for the friend add emoticon

You are welcome! I have really enjoyed all the reading and research--my friends here not so much, because I like to share all my new knowledge. I have stopped talking about what I am learning--I think they are beginning to avoid me! (GRIN)

I hope you don't mind that I have put you down as a friend? I am enjoying our conversations and think of you as a friend.
