Hi Ruthie and welcome to the team. I love all sorts of apps and anything else on an ipad and iphone.

I started with the iphone 3 and now we have just gotten the iphone 5.

So what is you favorite part of SparkPeople? I like the fact that it keeps track of all the individual nutrients. I'm diabetic so I have to keep a close watch.

Hi! My name is Ruthie and I have been on SP since August of 2008. I live in NJ, have been married 39 years, have 3 children, 1 grandson and 1 grand dog.
I waited until Verizon got the iphone before I got one, in February 2010. I am a MAC so I have an imac desktop, macair laptop, and an ipad and ipod.
I use the SP apps and used to have an issue with them, but they seem to be working smoothly now.

I'm Kelly and I'm from SE Michigan. I've been a member of SP for about eight years now (this is actually a newish account..I wanted to change so many things about my profile it was just easier this way). I'm more fitness focused than diet focused (although I do try to eat more fiber and get in more vitamins and calcium and such, the calcium is actually really important since I'm nearing 30). I like the SP app in that I can challenge myself to more fitness minutes but I find myself using things like MapMyFitness more often than the SP app. I'm definitely thinking of using SP to recharge my strength routine though!!

I'm also quite big on using my iPhone for music (lots of nice radio apps out there along with downloaded music) and audiobooks (which I get as mp3s using Overdrive...which utilizes my local library's audiobook collection).

I'm glad I found this team! I love using the phone app for meals plans. For me that's the only way to lose weight. I have to keep myself in check. I just wish the app allowed interaction with other members. It's great to find people who want to be healthy. I am a mom with three kids and I work four days a week. I go to crunch gym Monday - Saturday, missing only a day here and there. I also love to walk my little dog, but she doesn't last too long. I am the leader of the rocklin sparkers and I would love advice on how to be a better leader. How do I make my team more interactive? Thanks for your help!

Newbie here! I've had my iPhone for a year or so and love it! I am downloading the Spark app now. I think this will be a great tool for keeping track of exactly what I am putting in my mouth.

My husband and I finally gave up the flip phones and went out and bought brand new iPhones yesterday afternoon.
I've been on SparkPeople for less than a week. I'm liking it so far and happy to have found this group.
I've joined this group but haven't added the app yet. Since it is free I'm willing to give it a try but from what I read it isn't very diabetic friendly.

Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie and I have the iphone lol. I am 31, married with a daughter and step daughter. Long story short I have 98 lbs to lose. I have set small 39 lb goals to help me reach my 98 lb goal. Plus I found these awesome leg warmers that I want! So that is my motivation right now! My biggest hurdle to overcome is over eating. Hello everybody! I have been with SP a little over a week and am loving it! I have an iPad and an iPhone and love keeping track of everything on these! I was out and about with my family yesterday and was able to enter my water intake and food with my iPhone! This made it easier since I didn't have to try to remember everything I ate at the end of the day! I have 45 lbs. to lose and I want to get my blood pressure down so I can get off meds. I have a husband (34 years) 2 sons, (ages 28 and 18) a beautiful granddaughter and daughter-in-law, and I want to be with them a long time! At the age I am now my mother had a heart attack and had a quadruple bypass, so I want to become healthier and not go through what she had to! Thank you SP !

I have been casually monitoring Spark for a couple of years but...now that I have my wonderful iPad, I am really getting involved with it. I hope to get more regular with good eating habits and regular exercise (I am a runner, but very sporadic). My struggles are with eating to relieve mild stress and just plain loving carbs. Hope to get in better shape to keep up with my 9 grandchildren and my wonderful students (teach middle school special education). I am almost 59 years old and about 15-20 pounds overweight.

I agree with the post below. I would love to see the team on my iPad app as well!

Hello everyone,
I am always perusing my iPad for apps to help me in life. I found this one by doing a search for diets This one popped up and had an average review rating. after reading a few of the reviews I found that most bad reviews where connection issues so I thought I would give it a shot. The app has performed flawlessly for me since I downloaded it last night.

A little about me. I'm 48 and am continuously fighting genetics. I have high blood pressure, cholesterol and have diabetes in the family so at this age its very important to try be healthy. I was on WeightWatchers for a while and lost 20 pounds doing that but my wife lost her job and i could no longer afford it so finding something free is huge for me. I have gained almost all I lost back.

So far what I see I really like, the diet, the workouts, it seems very motivational. The app seems to work seamlessly with the website. The only suggestion I would make for future updates it to add the community to the app some how so we can encourage each other no matter where we are.

Hi all!! This is a return to SparkPeople.com! I loved it before so it was the obvious choice for me to get back to me!! I LOVE that there is now an iPhone app! I have not downloaded it just yet but will be here in a few. I have never been overweight before and the so called scales say I'm not now, but I don't feel like me anymore! Was sick last year and now that my energy is back, so is my appetite. UGH!!! Didn't realize how much I was eating until I came back to SparkPeople yesterday. That's right yesterday! So, here's to all of us getting to healthy and getting to the goals that we have set for ourselves!

Hi All,

This is the first time in my life I am struggling with weight issues. Lucky me. I am 45 and was sick for a bout a year. Part of my illness had me gain almost 40 pounds. I went from a size 4 to a size 12. Dieting did nothing and I am only recently able to exercise due to new meds. YAY.

I am doing Jillian's 30 day shred and l love it.I just got this app today and I am excited because keeping a food journal is a great way to keep yourself on track. Not to mention the other stuff on here. Still poking around.

I am brand new to sparkle and look forward to using this and getting to know some of you.

I have been on spark people for about 4 years now, but didn't really get serious about a healthy lifestyle until this past January. Since then I have lost 23 lbs and feel great. I didn't realize how much I rely on my spark app until the issues popped up over the last week. I was so grateful to see the update yesterday and have it start working like normal again. I'm back on sparkpeople to try and get healthy. For all those technology junkies out there who use the iPhone, I use the Nike + app as well as it tracks all my running, walking, etc. and then syncs to Nike's website so you can keep track.

One easy way is to go to your app icon on yr phone and type in "quick scan" to get a barcode, you will need to sign in to itunes when it asked before installing. Another free one is "scan". You could also go to Itunes and type the same thing in the search bar. I use the free one and it works well. Amazon has a great free one too. Hope this is helpful!

.stay within calories range
.three fruits and 3 veggies a day
. no eating 2 hrs before bedtime
. no white foods

Hello everyone! I have came back to Sparks after being gone awhile. Our internet here in the country has been terrible since we moved here a few years ago and hendered my posting but now we have the hot spot and I am able to post and particiate again.

I have the Iphone 3gs and love all the apps. I consider upgrading to the 4, but am happy with the software upgrade. They have some really cool apps, love the sparks app!

Hey peeps!

I'm using SP on my iPad 2. It's been a great companion since I started my 60-day weight loss plan 5 days ago. Since getting back on red meat (I abstained for 3-years) and getting injured for the second time, I've gained close to 10 kilos. I had a minor tear on my MCL and hamstring, and badly sprained ankle at a futsal aka indoor soccer match which sidelined me for 3-4 months. When I returned and started playing in a minor soccer league, I pulled my hamstring.

While I'm not 100% I play futsal weekly, and the current soccer league will last the next 3-4 months. Started playing golf so I'm at the driving range once a week.

I'm currently on a low carb diet, so all advice and recommendations are welcome!

I track my progress everyday on my food intake, exercise, body measurements (body fat, weight, muscle mass, water). Comment on http://vernieman.posterous.com

Hello!

I actually started Spark People the beginning of 2010. I was so into it! I lost 40 pounds and was exercising, tracking my food and interacting with the Spark Teams I belonged to. Then, I had a torn meniscus in my right knee. I had surgery and before I knew it, I was defeated because I hurt too much to exercise.

Now I just had surgery on my left knee and I am determined to lose weight so I may not have to have replacement surgery.

I am 58, married, love my husband, computers, and shih tzus. Looking forward to getting back on track with Spark People.

My name is Joel. I joined SP, honestly, only because my wife likes it here and I'm supporting her (and she's hugely supporting me!) in our weight loss and because SP provides interesting articles to help with losing weight.

More specifically to this team, I joined this team to report bugs with the iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad applications, but I haven't had any luck in attracting the attention of any developers yet, even with offers to scratch my own proverbial itch and try to fix my bugs myself. Granted the SP applications aren't open source (or are they? Maybe?) but that mindset is always beneficial to everyone involved. Hopefully the developers or team leaders do read the bugs forum? :)

Hi everyone!
I found the app before I found the web site.
Ever since my sister signed up for the biggest Loser web site plan that costs lots of money, I have been looking for a site for a better price. I not only got a better price, the site is way better!

I haven't tried the map yet. I walk around a mountain I live on and I never know how far I have gone. I just read a blog about it and I'm going to try it tomorrow.

I had a great week and lost 3.7 lbs. last week.

I like the tracker too. ESpecially the walking one. I am opening my eyes at all the portions I have been eating. I am suprised also at what is considered a portion for some commerical products like pop.

2012 is the year for me!

Hello, just joined this week and am so excited about all the support. I love the trackers! The food tracker really helps to keep me honest and has opened my eyes as to the portions that I have been eating. I love the fitness tracker, especially the map my route feature. Just got back from a 40 minute fast walk with the dog and was able to figure accurate mileage. Yes!

hi all I have been ound SP for a few month but not really being a daily user. I am going to change this in 2012. So far so good I have logged food an water so far. lol.
Anyway this is where i introduce myself.
My name is Christy and I am 38 years old and in the Canadian military. I am 210 lbs emoticon for my 5' 8 frame. Although I don't look overweight I sure do feel it. So I am sick and tired of not loking after me so this was my new Years reloution to myself. I have always put others first so this is major for me.
That is all I can think of for now.

ps i am not 212 kg not sure how to fix this.

Not quite sure if I am doing this right, but here goes! I am a single mom to an 11 year old and I would love to be healthier so that she doesn't end up like me. She is good so far, but I also am all she has and need to be around for her. I am doing this for my little Angel! I love you baby!

Hi, my name is Kristina and I just this site about a week ago. I am glad to see that there is an app for both the iPhone and iPad since I actively use both regularly. I am a mother of 3, my youngest is 6 months old and oldest is 7. I was able to lose about 70 lbs before I became pregnant on my own but now with a newborn, I really need some outside motivation and accountability! emoticon I am looking forward to getting know some of you and hope we can help each other.

I just joined this site today. I am downloading the app to my iphone 3g as I type. I can't wait to get started. Hopefully having the app on my phone and withy me all day will help to remind me to record things.

Hey guys and yes I have been away for a long while and I find when I sit to do the recording of the food eaten and water drank I end up sitting for longer than what I wanted and lose my motivation for anything other than reading blogs and everything other that moving grrrr I get OCD on something and not enough on others drives me totally crazy! lol enough about me I am glad that you are able to get the apps to work for you and finding it a wonderful tool! Hi! I love that SparkPeople is on my cell phone. It makes it really difficult for me to cheat on my diet because SparkPeople is always in my pocket. I record the food before I eat it, then I know how much I can splurge while I'm out and about :)

Also, I look up a lot of food nutrition online. I find it easier to pull up the nutrition info on my computer and then I grab my phone and plug in the numbers. It sounds stupid, but it's easier than flipping from one computer screen to the next.

Aloha! My name is Susan and I live in the Memphis, Tennessee metro area. I use my iPhone 4 and my iPad (1st gen) to track most of my spark people things.

I am going to use my PC to enter recipes as neither my iPhone or iPad seem to work when I try to do that. And I've tried more times than I care to admit. I use computers at work and I'm not a total ding dong. If there's a way to get it to work on either idevice, I've yet to figure it out.

I work for a major food manufacturer in R&D. I design flavors for a living.

time to get back to work!! It's lunch time!

I LOVE SP.......and I have both apps on my Ipad,.but the Ipad one is 'tidier' and cleaner looking,.........but they;re both great,........I was using the one for Iphone first, didn't realixe that there were two,.........I didn't like the wheely thing for portions, but it was okay,...the Ipad app, you just type in with a decimal or whatever,.I do wish they would allow you to choose more portion labels,........some are just grams, and then you have to go and see , if you ate so manyoounces, then how many grams is that.........but all in all, absolutely love the app

Just got my iPhone a couple weeks ago. Yes! Very happy with it and the SparkPeople apps - they didn't work so well on my Blackberry. I'm back to tracking things again.

Hi Everyone My name is Liz and I am new to the whole iPhone thing-a-majig! Yeah, yeah old dogs can learn new tricks but this little thing is a bugger!

I have been with SparkPeople for a while under different names and different groups but this time I choose to be more public about my weight loss so I have set this one up with a real name and I will put real pictures instead of the glossy ones that are cute that I would rather hide behind I am tired of being quite about the issues of being over weight and no where to go with out someone looking at me like I have done something wrong instead of seeing me as a person.

Well that is me I am looking forward to learning about all in this group and no there will be no quiz later to see if I remember!!!!!!
