Looking forward to hearing about the SW changes. Our village class closed but I've discovered a class about 3 miles away with free parking. I'll check it out in the new year!

Well done on getting the window work done in time to be cosy over Christmas, Janet. Hopefully not too much mess?

I'm glad your trip was enjoyable, Mona, and that you are feeling better. My cough was so irritating at night. I sympathise!

I had two less than successful cake baking sessions today before I twigged that the thermostat on my oven is clearly on the blink. It's overheating by about 20 degrees I think. If we can't get someone in, it will be an interesting challenge timing the turkey. Anyway, what was going to be a Clementine cake is now being re-formatted as part of a pudding! I did manage to rescue the banana bread by hanging around in the kitchen, peering through the oven door, before the outer edges incinerated. I refuse to try pastry until it's fixed so the mince pies will be Waitrose specials this year! Christmas fun and games! ( shakes head in disbelief!)

Wishing all a peaceful Sunday with success in the culinary department!

Mona, hope you have a speedy recovery now you have the right treatment for that cough.
Poor Megan & Cooper....hope they recover very soon too....it's that time of year for coughs and colds I think.
We'll need to give you some info about the new changes that are coming to SW...they will be launched on 26th December but at the moment it's all hush hush!!

Lovely moment Donna...receiving your Target award is a special moment. I'm with you there on the chocolate temptations...so hard!!!

I had a nice visit from my sisters and bil this morning...we don't see one another often enough although we live close together.
We've had some new double glazed windows and front door unit fitted...how wonderful it is not to have wet windows etc every morning!!
Yesterday I met my friend and we had lunch together...I tried to be good!

Keep trying to stay in moderation everyone....

Hi everyone. Stopping by to see how everyone is doing.

I finally went to the doctor today and I am taking amoxicillan and a cough medicine that makes me feel great!! AND it stops the cough! emoticon Makes me angry with myself that I don't go sooner but I keep thinking it is better and then back it comes.

Had a wonderful weekend in Atlanta with my family. Everyone was there but my son and three children. I got a great photo and as soon as I figure out how to download on this new computer I will post it. My granddaughter has been sick and so has Cooper so they haven't been over for a few weeks.

I am going to go on SW 100% after I get back from FL on Jan 6. I have gained three pounds.

We are not allowed to have Christmas programs in our schools anymore. It is so sad. I know how much I always enjoyed seeing my children participate when they were growing up

Take care everyone and have a great weekend. Hugs to all!!!

Well done Janet for losing the pound this week emoticon

I didn't lose weight this week, however was delighted to get my target certificate in front of my friends at club last night emoticon emoticon .
However I as tempted today with the chocolates, only had one celebration choc so far but I can feel how 'challenging' this period may be emoticon

Drinking water is a very good idea and I love my mint tea, which is mostly water too.
Irene hang in there, keep on with the little changes, emoticon .

Diana you're going to have a great night I am sure, you will look wonderful in anything I am sure.

I went to see Aladin, the Pantomime with my school yesterday and it was great fun and I got paid too emoticon . I love children's performances too and thats another great thing about working in schools.

I am really looking forward to Friday dinnertime as I'm ready for a rest! Only 2 sleeps till the end of term! emoticon emoticon

I think Christmas is coming upon us fast now, especially with all it's goodies.
I weighed in at group this morning and was happy to be 1lb down...a total of 72lb was lost by members today!! How's that for dedication!

Diana, you've got a few days to sort out your posh frock do...do you have one readily available to wear? emoticon

Irene...water is so good for us and can be filling too. Quite often we can mistake hunger for thirst. Keep going, I know you are doing your best.

I love Primary School Christmas productions! Hopefully there will still be a place for them by the time my Grandies get to school age.

Not doing brilliantly on the Christmas prep front.... 2 extra work referrals this week, one of which will need an urgent report by Friday. Hence, my carefully planned domestic schedule is being shunted to the weekend. Throw in an unexpected 'Hubby's clients needing entertaining' posh frock jobs on 21 and 22 Dec! Three deep breaths. Regain sense of proportion. These things will pass.

Janet, I will look at the Intuitive Eating book shortly. I got as far as reading up about it on Amazon (good reviews btw ! ). Thank you for recommending. The New Year is going to bring about several changes, one of which being the decision to cut back on some of my work load. I look forward to having you lovely people here to share renewed fitness promises.

Wishing all a good week!

Those set meals can be hard Irene...enjoy your festive lunch!!

SW is changing....not a lot of details yet but they say it will be easier to follow and better results so maybe that will help members more.

Succumbed to a small slice of cake and some mince pies this afternoon...my cooking is too good!! Better be 100% now until weigh in!

Popping in to say hello and thanks for messages and goodies . I have one festive lunch out this week it's my choice what i order.
I was at a set meal out this week I didn't enjoy it very much and left some on my plate on two courses ,I did eat all the dessert but it was tiny.
I get heart burn now if I eat fats so that's an incentive to eat healthily.
New start after Christmas ? Irene

Hi everyone. Going away this weekend to my daughter's in Atlanta. Going to a Pittsburgh Steeler game Sunday and then heading home. I have had a horrible cough and cold but been trying to get well enough to go. I think I will without sharing with everyone.

Haven't done as well with posting as I thought I would. The holidays are tough and tomorrow would have been our 20th anniversary. But I am NOT giving in!!

Hugs to all!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can't recommend too highly doing a daily diary to help keep tabs on my eating; for the good and the bad!! I just use a little note book and my own shorthand notes.

Donna...hope your weigh in is successful tomorrow. Eating out is a difficult area, I seem to be out once a week at the moment...!!

Diana...I have an excellent book called "Intuitive Eating" by Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch. It really does explore all the aspects of our relationship with food.
If you're interested let me know and I can mail you this copy.

We need to all be kind to ourselves especially at this time of year, it isn't easy is it!?!
Irene I've sent you a private message, but you should still try to keep 'sensible' or at least not 'get silly' as its so easy to do that especially at this time of year.

And Janet yes you are right that we have all overindulged and regretted how long it can take to get back in the right mindset! emoticon

I've been good with my diary this week, at least I was until I went out for an Indian meal on Saturday, but I never got around to writing down the syns, I believe I am still under the weekly 70 but of course am not quite sure, so that's not good enough is it! Weigh in tomorrow will show the truth won't it!

Hi Irene. First a sympathy hug because I know this feeling! But I would agree with Janet on trying to maintain an even pace.

This morning I noted a tiny downward movement and logged it but I am still 2lbs away from where I'd got down to in October. I kept a journal for the first 6 months after coming out of hospital - the 6 months I lost over a stone in. So I looked back at in and the last entry was 'Party weekend 10-12.10.14. Went completely off plan. Oh well, I'll catch up.'

I didn't. And not only did my journal entries cease at that point but I slapped 5 lbs back on over the following weeks because I had re-awakened my taste for the sugary and yeasty stuff. Now it has taken me right up to this week to chip away at SOME of that re-gain, slowly rebalancing my eating and resisting the voice telling me it is easier not to bother.

Personally, I struggle a lot with my relationship with food. I eat a very healthy range of fresh, home prepared food daily but, on top of that, I can keep the biscuit industry buoyant for Britain once I get going. In January, I intend to read up on the reasoning behind emotional eating and how to handle it.

However, in the meantime, I'm going back to a daily food journal to help me get through the next few weeks with better control.

Sorry to ramble on with my personal story. I just wanted you to feel that you aren't on your own with feeling the way you do. This is a good team for support and we are here for you!

Irene, PLEASE don't give up, you'll only have it to deal with later on...maybe make a plan so you can enjoy the good things too. I have plenty of goodies here and will be trying not to chow them down quickly..
I have already planned that weigh in is Tuesday 23rd...will enjoy 25th & 26th and then pace myself towards the next weigh in on Tuesday 30th. Make a plan!!

Popping in to say hello. You are doing so well and positive I am not doing well and just ignoring scakes. I am falling into the trap of there are pre Christmad events coming up involving food so I may as well forget healthy eating now. Start again in January , help !

I totally agree with those principles Diana...I used to be in children services with social services. Now I hear the current problems though my daughter and her community college day nursery and my grandson's primary school.
I do agree with children being in mainstream education where possible but it's not always possible and then we ask...where is the provision?

I think that is one of the main encouragements for attending a SW group...the weight loss of members that encourages others. I see a lot of that on the local fb group too.

It's great that people are being so determined. That is an excellent group result and the 8lb loss Lady must have felt very heartened.

The training was work-related, Janet. There are some new courses for classroom teachers to build their awareness of special needs such as dyslexia and speech& language difficulties. I wanted to work through them myself before I recommended them. I have two advisory meetings this week and, under the new Education Act, we are to encourage all teachers to take more direct responsibility for students experiencing difficulties. I wanted to be sure what I was suggesting was do-able and useful. It is!

I'm feeling much better and thank you for your encouragement and good wishes.

Wishing all a peaceful Sunday.

Donna, my group lost a total of 81lbs last week...one lady had her 1st weigh in and lost 8lbs!

Well done Diana for being down a pound!! Hope you're feeling better now too.
What are you studying on your training course? Nice to have the option to do it at home online.

Today is a chilly day here...Brrr!! The town was full of Christmas shoppers and children.
The exchange table and chairs will be here on Tuesday. This morning we went to the paint store to get some paint to restore them to match with our existing dresser; a nice project for Joseph!!
My eating has been very good today...I have weigh in on my mind now!!

Down a pound!

Have an online training course to do today but I'll try to build in 'movement' breaks so I don't sit for 5 hours. The freedom to do that, plus doing it in comfy clothes, outweighs the social side of a formal training day....and I don't need to defrost the car!

Stay warm and well this weekend.

Thanks Diana....I stayed the same again...that's 3 weeks so happy about that.
My friend lost her last 1lb and that made 3 stone!!! She's also a Target member now. We started the same day....I'm so proud of her achievement.

There seems to be a good range of subsided fitness classes here. The Tai Chi one my husband goes to has (according to him?) about 100 people there!! They are well attended so I think that's why they get the ongoing funding.

Good luck with the weigh-in, Janet. I did an adult learners Tai Chi course a few years back. It was one of those subsidised courses designed to get folks healthy. Unfortunately it only ran for two terms, then there was nothing in the area to follow on. I loved it and would gladly go again.

Well done on the cards, Irene. I'm hoping to get all mine incl USA out on Friday. I still prefer the old-fashioned way, though I get increasing numbers of e-cards - lots of them 'singing and dancing'. I guess there is an equal amount of thought to mailing and emailing but I enjoy the handwriting part.

Still coughing at night but definitely on the mend. May weigh myself tomorrow and see the damage caused by doing less exercise emoticon

Oh Irene I remember the scramble to get the parcels off in time for Christmas. I'm sure you'll manage it.

Diana, good to hear you're slowly recovering....I know coughs can linger though. I agree, who wants to go out unnecessarily in this grim weather. I did brisk walk around the town this morning while Joseph was at Tai Chi but only because it was drizzling!

I have weigh in tomorrow morning...not sure how that will go though.

Welcome back Mona. Big hug! I'm now reading 100 days. I think I'll start the 'writing' part when the group goes back to Day 1 in the New Year. It's interesting and I hope will shed some light on why I'm my own worst enemy sometimes.

I don't know, Janet. Exercise (or lack of it) is a big factor as I'm sure my maintenance cals are most people's weight loss cals. Unless I'm very active, I seem to gain weight eating remarkably little!

Thank you for the Get Well wishes. I haven't got rid of the cough but my temperature is stable and the ghastly achy joints bit has passed. One advantage to a day off work today was getting the bulk of my Christmas decorating done. There is less out than usual because we'll have both toddler-babes bobbing around and attempting to climb on everything. Nevertheless, it is all looking bright and cheery.

Wishing all a good week. emoticon

1st December....what plans do we have to stay with the SW plan over this tempting time?
I'd like any help anyone can offer...

Last year I seem to remember I gained 1.5lbs...but I've been much more relaxed throughout this year and am a little concerned!

I am still really pleased we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK (at least in my house we don't). The temptations of Christmas are challenging enough anyway emoticon .

Yes welcome back Mona, and the bean stew sounds great. emoticon

Well now Thanksgiving is over for another year and as you said, back to SW plan and all the healthy eating.

Joseph's sister came yesterday and we ate out...the meal wasn't so good so we were given free desserts...not so good either!!
Been a lovely sunny day today, hard to believe we're almost in December.
I've just made a 3 bean chilli for lunch tomorrow...smells so good!!

Day #18

Hi everyone. Starting where I left off. Emotions are much better but sneak up on me. But I am doing much better and setting some new goals and going to work toward making "me" healthy.

Janet~~2 sweaters in 6 1/2 weeks!! That is awesome. I finished a seafarers cap for a missions project our group does for foreign ships that are in port of Charleston over Christmas. Got some yarn to make myself a scarf and marking my quilt to get finished once and for all!! Pray Joseph has a good night's sleep.

Donna~~I am so proud of you being almost to goal!! That is awesome. I am going to get there too one of these days.

Cathy~~Congrats on the 21 pound loss!! emoticon

Diana~~hope you are feeling much better. I have had a bit of a cough and sniffles myself. Our weather has been 28 and then up to 74. And loads of rain!!

Had a very nice Thanksgiving yesterday with my granddaughter and my daughter and families. Megan is an excellent cook and even though I am starting today I am not going to weigh until Monday. I was very bad!! Back to my SW plan. They said the average Thanksgiving day meal and then all the nibbling adds up to between 3500 and 4000 calories. I am afraid I was among those who were average. Absolutely horrible~~but SO good.

Take care everyone and it is SO good to be back!!! Hugs to all!!

I think knitting is like swimming, riding a bicycle or driving a car...we never forget!!

Diana, hope that cold passes quickly...maybe some mega doses of Vit C?

My sister in law visited today and we took her for lunch at a carvery. Their food wasn't very good so the establishment gave us free desserts...not a good idea! emoticon
I went to see the twins in their assembly this morning and had a nice time. It was an early start and I had breakfast with Joseph when I got home again later.
I'm tired after my busy day...hope Joseph sleeps well, he had a terrible night last night.

Update from me
Am not looking at scales but making my am to eat healthy drink more water and exercise daily, sounds good, but the chocolate and wine aren't on my plan! But sneak in sometimes.
It stress relieving that's my excuse.
So is knitting I too got back to it recently making squares for blankets for charity, I do find it soothing and relaxing to do. Woolis cheap in pound shops and the Range if you have one near, b and m bargains and such shops all sell wool.
Have a good weekend , irene

Well done, Cathy on the 21 lbs. My knees are grateful for my weight loss to date!

I used to knit all the kids' cardis and sweaters until school sweatshirts came along. I only recently got the needles out again when my daughter asked me to knit a metre square to be joined into a peace blanket. I'd forgotten how therapeutic it was and it resurrected lots of the fancy stitch patterns from the dusty corners of my memory. The only place I could find wool was Hobbycraft.

The family went back home on Weds and probably as well, because I've come down with a horrid feverish cold. Did my weekend grocery shop online at 3am because I was stuffed up and sleepless. Technology can be a bit of a time-waster but also a blessing!

Good luck anyone heading for the sales. I'm sitting home with some Lemsip!

Cathy, I haven't done any knitting for years and years...just fancied doing something again.
I agree the wool shops seem to have more or less disappeared here too. The shop I buy from is owned by a most obnoxious and impatient man but his wool is discounted so I overlook his manner!! lol.
Being 21lbs lighter compared to last year is no mean feat...well done you! I know it's hard to start the ball rolling again but I'm sure you will.

Been a shopping day here for me and everywhere there seemed to be folk buying Christmas goodies already...well, I suppose it's not that far away now.
I'm off to my grandsons 'good work' assembly tomorrow morning and later, if my sister in law makes it we are out to lunch. I didn't plan to eat out this week so will be working hard afterwards.

Yes Donna it's great that you are so near your target weight.
Janet,I used to do a lot of knitting but have not done any for years,i used to like doing arran patterns. At one time there were at least 4 wool shops in Douglas but now i dont think there are any,i think there is only 1 on the whole island.
My weight has stayed the same for quite a while now,i keep reminding myself that at least i am 21 pounds lighter than i was this time last year.

Well done Donna, that is great being almost at target now. I haven't heard about the books...so 'mum's' the word!!

My weigh in was a STS...I'm sort of OK with that but did expect a small drop...maybe have to work a bit harder this week!!

emoticon Janet I wish I was as talented - knitting is a fantastic skill and 2 sweaters is fantastic!

I lost 1lb this week thankfullyl so am down to 12 - 9.5 so almost what I want to be, I'd like to take target at 12-9 but try to get below that when I take target to give me some wriggle room, especially at this time of year. Almost there! emoticon (Also I ate a little more than usual last night but not the 70-90 syns that I sometimes eat on a weigh in night - guess that's a binge reallly - yes I'm not proud!) prob 23 last night so reasonable and I did have 9 remaining from the week so not too bad!

I have heard there are new SW books coming out after Christmas, its supposed to being made even easier! Not allowed to facebook this but you guys won't tell will you?

Hope your weigh in goes as well as you want it to today Janet.

Great thoughts Janet, I'd like some wriggle room too and Irene J is right you have a lot going on right now and are a maintainer so ignore the scales! emoticon

I'm hopeful for the scales tomorrow, however I know I will not overeat tomorrow night after weigh in as I often do, that's my goal for the day! emoticon

Irene, you're doing just great with your exercise regime. I know you're a maintainer and as long as your range is still in sight I wouldn't worry about such things. I know you have much to juggle with your husband so pat yourself on the back and don't worry. emoticon

Chilly here today but sunshine so we have to be grateful for that. Just one more week and it will be 1st December!!
I'm off to collect the twins from school and football...so better dash.

Hi guys, I'm sorry I haven't been around very much but I've kept checking in on you but been too lazy to type (maybe too busy too as things can be crazy but overall REALLY GOOD!)

I'm afraid that the scales weren't kind to me on Tuesday and up 1/2lb but I remained positive. I hadn't written all the extras down so wasn't sure if I had gone over syns so may have been lucky emoticon .

I can say that I am happy in my own skin right now, most of my clothes fit well now, I even wore my 'skinny' clothes at weekend - my thinner jeans and green jumper on Saturday and looked really good (in my thoughts anyway! emoticon .

Everyone else try to stay positive with me too, emoticon emoticon Donna xxx emoticon

I agree on the clothing. When I was young and even after the babies, the weight seemed to be around my hips but I had a waist.

When I hit 60, it started collecting around the middle and, I now know, depositing fat on my liver. Luckily, that is where it is going from again since I got stuck back into the plan. So, as well as improvements to my health, my clothes have started looking less bunchy as well.

I haven't had the best couple of weeks controlling my eating but this is my motivation to stay on track.

Wishing you all a happy Friday and lovely weekend.
