I missed aqua this morning-just way too slow getting around and when I looked at the clock it was after 9. I don't even have the energy to get up from the chair. ugh. There are two 11 year old girls here with another one on the way. They are supposed to be working on a project for school but right now it's just sounding a bit crazy. emoticon

Jo-ann---hope you can work it out to keep in the water for the next couple of weeks. Know you will be glad when your Y reopens.
Kerry, wow, that must have been tough on that lady to move to a new location right about the time for a new baby. Hope you get to meet them and see the new baby.
I have done really good in getting in my 10000+ steps with being back to work. We will see how I do once regular schedule starts next Tuesday. No walk today with my buddy---I have a family funeral to attend with my mom this morning.
Hope everyone has a nice day!

Good morning. I had a great coffee with several friends this morning and then a fantastic water aerobics class. Tracy always teaches a class so you know you've had a workout. When I went outside this morning I discovered our brand new neighbors (renters) have a blue balloon flying form their mailbox that says "it's a boy". I have seen one little boy and a man as they were getting into the truck and I saw the boy run into the house after school but that's it. They've only been there about a week.

Last day of swimming and water aerobics at my "summer Y" location! They are closing for maintenance.

I'm hoping the pool schedule at my "weekend Y" will have times that work for me for the next couple of weeks until my own Y finally reopens. Their evening lap times for summer were very limited. However, their swim lesson session has ended. I hope the lanes will be open when I can get myself there. Otherwise, I'll just do the best I can with land workouts.

I've done very well adapting to the different schedules and locations to keep up swimming and water exercise every day while my own Y was closed. (I had been very worried about dealing with all these changes to my routine last spring.)

Probably the onion rings and the garlic toast caused it. Or if the turkey was processed and not "real" turkey. Seems a weird combo to me---LOL
Had a busy day at work yesterday and got in over 10000 steps---so my legs were achy last night, esp. the knees. Hoping to get on the computer at school today---know I will have lots of email on that site to go thru---most to be deleted I am sure.
Have a good day!

Sorry your knee is bothering you, LECATES.
Lin, great news from the doctor!

If that paper comes back with a big PAID IN FULL stamped on it, I may just frame it!
I have decided to stay home-apparently I didn't sleep real well because I can barely keep my eyes open. My knee feels swollen this morning but that's the way it feels when the IT Band needs to be massaged or rolled out. I tried doing that on the bed since I can't get down on the floor and back up with the new hip. I am bloated up this morning for some reason-we did eat out last night but I had a turkey dinner-ate half the turkey (about 2 1/2 -3 oz), a couple bites of baked beans, and a few onion rings. A little later I had one slice of the garlic toast that came with it. I still have the rest of the turkey, beans and 3 slices of toast in the kitchen. I'll have the turkey and some beans for dinner and Larry can have the rest.

Kerry, that is wonderful news! Will you have a mortgage burning party?
Lin, glad you are getting decent reports at the doctor's and that your knee is doing better. I would like to know more about that laser treatment for your knee. I find myself limping a lot due to the menincus tear last summer.
No water aerobics last night---they lost power late yesterday and electric company gave them estimated time of repair at 7PM. Bummer!
Back to work I go---I am ready to get back into routine---have run out of stuff to do here(well, stuff I want to do---LOL)
Have a good day!

I plan to be in the pool in the morning also. Today was physical therapy. Our last house payment is now at the post office. Hopefully by the end of next week we will have the paid off mortgage papers in our hands!

Hi everyone. I've been in a funk for awhile not logging my nutrition or participating in my challenges or even regularly writing in the forums. This is the time of the year I have my 6 month check-ups. I've had the one for the Crohn's - Kerry I take a couple of things for acid reflux and indigestion, etc. with the Crohn's but I'm not sure which is for which - Pantoloc 1 tablet 2x/day and Domperidone 2 tablets 4x/day. I should have a Colonoscopy as I haven't had one for years and should every 1-2 years with the Crohn's but I've been doing so well with it that the Dr. says lets let sleeping dogs lie, I have enough other problems to deal with right now. The other day I had the one with the neurologist and although he'd rather I didn't drive he okayed me for another year with restrictions and said I don't need another sleep test nor changes in my meds for my restless leg syndrome. Today I had 2 heart tests and I'll formally get the results in a couple of weeks from my Cardiologist. The fellow who did the Echocardiogram said he could definitely see the cardiomyopathy but even showed me the pics of my beating heart and it isn't nearly as wobbly as it used to be - I think because of the leak in the valve going into that section being fixed in Jan. He said the function probably hasn't improved but it is looking better so that was an uplifting bonus. I had an emergency trip to the optometrist recently and have my 6 mth check-up with the Ophthalmologist in a couple of weeks. My Diabetes check-up was pretty good a couple of weeks ago too - so snap out of it Lin - things are looking up. Wish it were that easy, lol.

The laser treatments on my torn ligament in my knee seem to really be working. I haven't had anything for the pain today and although it's a bit sore tonight, it's only achy unless I step the wrong way or bend it without thinking. The better it gets, the more you do old habit things like bending and such without thinking. I've got a session booked for tomorrow and Friday and I'm hoping that will finish it. Last appt, and she said for the next 2, she gave my tendonitis in my shoulder a treatment and that's helping that already too. As the knee improves and I get more exercise - still using the cane indoors and out - my heart failure seems to be improving which is great.

I've had all this extra time on my hands resting the knee I'm amazed I haven't been in my work room painting but I just haven't felt like it. I was busy all last week getting ready for my mom-in-law's 90th birthday celebration. We had 13 here for the afternoon and a bbq on Sat. Unfortunately it rained the entire time and it was very very cool. We have a covered gazebo and 2 car length carport so we were at least under cover. I had the fixings for hot chocolate and tea at the ready and my DSIL brought some peach brandy. We all had a good time and my MIL got to visit with grandchildren she hardly ever gets to see. I made her a memory book of that day and also of an open house her husband held for her the Sun before at a local seniors' club. I was able to order and include in the book letters/certificates form the Governor General of Canada, the Prime Minister of Canada, and the Premier of the Province congratulating her on her 90th birthday - she said she'd have trouble getting her had on after receiving personal items from those offices. It was tiring but a lot of fun. Fortunately, my DH pitched right in and did a lot of the prep work for and with me.

Back to school already Lecate? Summer is really almost over isn't it! A lot of the trees are either turning or have turned already and most of my fall flowers are in bloom. It's been so cool. It wasn't bad yesterday for temp but we haven't had any real warm weather this Aug. I think Lecates is right and we'll have a full blown Indian Summer come October. Take care everyone and enjoy your swimming. I'm off to the pool in the am.

I know what you mean about getting back to routines, LECATES. Even though I've found ways to keep working out all summer, I am still very eager to get back to my own routines (as soon as my pool re-opens).

Kerry, way to go on not using that cane----my dh still has to use his and I still see a limp in his walk. Can you get your dh to run a rolling pin up and down that IT band---they told me to do that to help mine at home?
My last day of summer break----really need to go get my hair cut so it is easier to take care of as it is down and starting to go past my shoulders again. My hair grows so fast! With it longer it is easier to pull up for the water aerobics but it takes longer to dry so it would be easier for work to have it back shorter. Then have water aerobics tonight. I am ready to go back----I have done all my chores at home and the boredom is getting worse, so I need to get back to routine.

Insurance companies seem to take longer all the time. I will probably have to wait a week or two before they approve the new med for acid reflux. I think you did spell that one right-or close enough. I took one of those types for a while but they switched me to the Nexium for which they insurance company is charged more than $400 a month because I have to take two a day. It's all such a pain.

As for the IT band, when my trainer first learned the technique (and I was often his guinea pig) he would use it one me and he would be saying "I'm not pressing down hard". I told him I could tell because the muscles in his arms weren't moving but it still hurt like crazy. Then there were times when he would hit an actual knot-wow, was that a killer pressing on that until it would unknot. Of course, when I got up and tried walking I could feel it knot up again. I can't do any of the tradition stretches because they involve crossing one leg across the other and I can't yet cross my right leg over the center line.

Water class was great today-I only had to stop for a couple seconds in one spot and change up form jumping to just raising up on my toes. No cane again today!

IT bands do hurt when worked on but you are so right, it feels so much better afterwards. I have had lots of issues with mine but now know to massage it at home when I can and it helps. Surgery for hiatal hernias is very chancy and very difficult and often does not work---do you have the bathroom issue with the nexium? my dh has a huge hernia and has to take 2 omneprazole(might not have spelled that right) a day but it does help the Gerds---and he takes imodium when he has a bad case of the runs from the meds.
Had a great water workout last night. Today I will be cleaning the living room and dining room and then done with the cleaning for my back to work agenda----dh will have to maintain the housework when I go back to work---only fair since he is home and I will be working---and it will get him up moving just a bit. We have still not heard from the doctor's office about whether they have approved the gel shots for his knees. I am not happy about that.

Physical therapy this morning went well. The therapist massaged out the IT Band before we started-painful while he did it but great after. After that was a visit to the gastroenterologist for a check on the acid reflux. He wants to try a different medicine (which will probably take a fight with the insurance company) but I really don't like the side effects of the Nexium so we will try. Last option is repairing the hiatal hernia and see if that works. Other than for walking in to and out of therapy this morning I haven't used the cane today.

Boo to your dh! He could cook out on the grill for you---LOL Mine cooked the meat on the grill for me yesterday and I fixed baked beans and squash fritters and we had potato salad to go with it---so we had a nice meal yesterday. Then later we went to Burger King and got soft ice cream cones since we only had a combo lunch/dinner.
Will be doing housework and laundry in preparation for going back to work on Thursday----and have water aerobics tonight. Dh has PT today so I will drop him off and go to Giant to get some of the specials they have to stock up on supplies.
Have a good day---and make a big splash somehow! emoticon

They are more than okay on their own. lol We got to church this morning-Sunday School first and then the service. In between one of the teens who has just aged out of the youth group told our GD that she needed to be in Sunday School with them and in the youth group meetings because they had made her an official member a couple months ago even though she won't be 12 until February. I agreed but really wish there were more girls in the group especially closer to her age. That would make me a lot more comfortable. Guess I have to go figure something out for dinner. I have to learn to pick up some stuff I can throw in the crockpot since my husband refuses to be like Elaine's who has dinner ready for her when she gets home from counting!

Larry and I went to breakfast this morning. When we got home the grandkids were up-oops, forgot they were here. LOL They need to work on the milk we have here anyway since it expires before too long. I'll take them with me to the grocery store and get some gas in the car. Maybe we can find something good for lunch or dinner tonight. I need to work on my PT exercises this weekend. The doctor said everything looked good on x-ray but ordered some IT band exercises for the knee. Hopefully that will take care of the knee pain and I can walk without a limp. I did NOT take the cane this morning to breakfast and I forgot to take it into the bedroom last night so I made my night trip without it, too. Every day gets a little better.

Glad you got the flowers in. I wish I had more flowers around our house.

Walking /jogging in the pool is great exercise so of course it counts---and often a good way to warm up or slow down your activity.
I finished up my yard work yesterday and got my hostas all planted that I brought home from my son's house---was really sore from using the weedeater yesterday---hate using that thing and told dh that he was quite capable of doing that the next time I cut grass.
Another lovely morning but heat and humidity are due back later on today so guessing the ac will come back on at some point today---oh, well, it is August.

I did 80 minutes in the pool this morning-I admit some of it was just jogging or walking in place while talking but the rest was a pretty active workout.

Hope you get a good report--and no more surgeries!
Mowed part of the yard last night---waited too late as the mosquitos were really getting to me so I left the back where they are worse til today. I have to remember to wear my knee brace when I cut grass, esp. the front yard.
Another nice day for today, but then the humidity and heat start to come back tomorrow---oh, well, it is still August.

Luckily so far I have been too tired after working out to walk over and get something to eat. lol I've only been twice which isn't bad since it's been open for a few months. Once I went by myself and a couple from church were just finishing up so they sat with me for a while and then yesterday with my daughter. I think I will make it three because I owe a friend for taking care of our cat while we were gone and we had said we were going to meet there one day.

I did get to the pool this morning-only about 20 min of class and then I worked out on my own as well as actually swimming a couple laps. Can't believe I used to swim 33 laps at a time at the other gym. That was before I started replacing body parts.

No, I didn't make it to the pool yesterday. My daughter and I went out and dropped off the cable bill before stopping at Panera for a cup of soup. Does looking out the window at the pool area count for anything? The gym and Panera are in the same parking lot. lol There seemed to be a lot of teachers getting together at Panera.

Right now I am missing the beginning of class because my computer was messing up and I was trying to do something. I'll get there before the class is half over and then do some swimming afterwards.

That is cool---but I would enjoy it---LOL---actually, front door is open and the temp this morning is 58---loving it---this has been a cool summer compared to what it usually is---I am betting that as soon as we start school we will have a real heat wave hit us----LOL
Kerry, did you make the pool?
It was just me for the class last night so we just stayed in the deep end---felt so good in the water and think that finally helped the legs further along.
I go back to work a week from today---ready to go---went in yesterday to schedule working ticket sales for sporting events and met the new principal---and I know her from when I subbed ---think she was a guidance counselor back then. So not a bad choice for our new principal but I will miss our old one.

looking forward to going to the pool tomorrow. They've reopened the whirlpool so I'll try that again tomorrow too. I miss the water jogging because of my bum knee but the water feels good as I do some exercises in it. We've had some rain and cooler weather which I enjoy but my DD is visiting her in-laws up in Cochrane and she says not only is it raining there all week, it's only been 7C (45F). Brrrrr.

I can tell what a big difference there is with the PT but I had three weeks of 3x a week at home therapy and then the insurance approved 12 more sessions-2x week for 6 weeks. I only have 3 more on the schedule but I think that's only 10. I'm not sure if I will use the last two or not-I'll find out later. I have made really good progress the last week or so-I now walk around the house without the cane though there is a little limp. That will go away as the strength improves. I was beginning to think I would be using the cane forever but today I noticed a huge difference just from yesterday so I can see the end of the cane!! Looks like a storm has rolled in but maybe I can talk my daughter into a swim after it passes.

Kerry, are you satisfied with PT coming to an end or is it because that is all your insurance will allow? Sounds like a good plan to go swimming in the afternoon.
I have water aerobics tonight and a busy day before that.

I don't take any meds that would affect the sleep-just one for acid reflux and one for the premature heart beat and that just slows my heart rate down which should make sleeping easier. I did make it to the class today-I only had one spot where I had to stop and that was probably because I tried pushing it just a bit too far. I swam one lap and then left the pool to the people coming in to swim. On the days I have therapy (and there are only 5 more scheduled) I should make myself go to the gym in the afternoon and do some more of the actual swimming.

Too bad the PT is at same time as pool classes---bummer---could the sleepiness be from your meds?
Joann---glad you will be back to teaching
.Had to go to the pool early yesterday---had class but no instructor---at least we know what to do.
Today going to see 100 foot Journey with some friends and then have Red Hat night out for dinner later on---and watched gd this morning---so have a busy day for once.

I will miss the Monday and Wednesday classes the next 3 weeks due to physical therapy being at the same time. That should be the end of the PT. It will then be up to me to keep working on strengthening this hip. I thought I slept well last night but within an hour of getting up I was falling asleep again. Crazy.

I feel so much better today---the meds helped a lot---of course, I spent most of the day on the couch as it does knock me out for most of the day when I take it---but it really helped those muscles to relax and recover---was able to take a short walk this morning---will continue to take short walks through out the day and then I have water aerobics today---have to go early class as our teacher won't be here for our late class.
Lots of laundry to catch up on today, too---so guess I should get that started.

I agree that good friends are great. Life without them would be pretty boring and lonely. The movie was very good-thought provoking. When it ended my 11year old granddaughter came right over asking if she could get the DVD. I wasn't sure if she would like it but she watched ever second.

Sorry about your back. I haven't seen that movie---do you recommend it?
I did my walk this morning at the park--the inclines really hurt---but I made it all the way around but boy, was I pooped. Later a friend called who has been away----she had me come over and she gave me a bunch of free meat to bring home---that will help stretch out our budget. Nice to have friends who help out when you need them.

I think I will skip aqua this morning. I didn't sleep well and my back is bothering me (like the hip is not enough). I will do my PT exercises and try to stretch the back somehow. We had a great time at church last night. The youth had a fundraiser for an event they're attending next weekend. They served a Caribbean style dinner and showed the movie God's Not Dead. Most of us had seen it before but it's worth seeing again. Our granddaughter(11) was asking us to buy it for her afterwards. I just wish more people had shown up to support the youth.

Okay, we need a gun in the emoticon or goodie choices---LOL Why do the males in our lives always try to sabotage us?
Lin, hope you did not over do it too much---but I know what you mean, it feels so good to make something look nice. I know I was glad to help my son out---I have been wanting to get my hands on his flower beds ever since he bought the house, but she did not want my help---she didn't want to mess with them at all--Michael wants them to look nice but be low maintenance which is what I had planned to do for them anyhow.
Kerry, glad you got that hour in the pool but sorry you had to sit there so long.
I did not do much at all yesterday but did take my rest time to finally get through a pile of magazines---now I can take them all off to school for the art teachers to use. I took ibuprofen all day and that really helped---still tight in those back hamstrings but not hurting all the time like they were.

My DH needs to be shot! He went out to pick up some vitamins he was out of and to go to the bank. He came home with a large bag of Bridge Mixture chocolates from the Bulk Store - for me. Grrrrrr I have very little willpower!

Kerry - glad you are in the water again and that it is helping. Lecates - still sore? My heart flipped when you said your son was going to toss a bunch of hostas - so glad you were able to rescue them. I love hostas and have 25 different ones. I expect I too will be extra sore tomorrow. Today I spent 5 hrs. in the yard. I spent at least 1/2 that time resting but I managed to get 2 of my beds cleaned up. Several of them are in not bad condition but there are still 2 that are a real mess from neglect this year. I'm not supposed to garden but I was careful, took lots of rests and did no squatting or kneeling - just thinking about doing either hurts and no way I'm capable of doing either right now. I couldn't sit on my garden stool all the time but did as often as I could. My knee is throbbing and the rest of me is a bit sore already; but, boy oh boy, did it feel wonderful being outside working in the garden!

I dropped the kid off at school and got to aqua early so I got in a full hour. There were some things I couldn't do but I could always jog in place at those times. I wound up sitting in the parking lot for 2 hours waiting for the kid to get out. Rather than 11, they didn't get out until 1. Halfway through my wait I made a quick trip across the street for a bathroom break and to pick up some lunch. My granddaughter wasn't happy with me because I had left my phone at home and she had tried to call. I could have used my phone as well as a book but I just watched the cadets practicing their marching, about faces, etc.

I was the only one in class last night---which was nice as I could just do the things that did not hurt my legs ----but I am still very sore and had a very painful night from all that weeding and planting---so I am going to just take it easy today---took some meds this morning and sure hope they help.
Have a good day.

Oh, man, do I need this class tonight---I hurt! But I got all of one bed weeded for him---it a kind of oval in the middle of the yard---about 5 or 6 feet wide and 10 to 12 feet long---but at least we started it early enough to get it done before it got even hotter---about an hour and a half weeding.

Glad the water is helping your hip---but we all knew it would.
Had a busy day yesterday after all---we took a little road trip and went to Chincoteague, Virginia to the Island Creamery---the number 1 ice cream parlor in the USA---got my Marsh mud---think dark chocolate ice cream like the color of marsh mud and oooohhhh, so good---then went and picked up a box of steaks from a place on my dh's bread route(if he ever gets back to it), then back home and stopped by my youngest son's house---he bought part of the steaks off of us---he was doing yard work around his house and had dug up a lot of hostas that he was just going to throw away----so we went home to put the steaks in the freezer and I headed back to rescue the hostas---came back home and planted all the small ones---the 2 large ones need to be split and son has the shovels---so hoping today when I go over to help him, he will be done with one of them so I can split the really big one and get them transplanted and the medium one already has a home, just needs a hole dug for it. I just love free plants and I had a big space that really needed some hostas there so it was definitely a winning combination.
I am really going to need the water aerobics tonight after helping him today in his yard-----I was sore last night from planting the hostas--so I know I will be sore from helping son this morning--esp. since it is going to be a hot one.
Hope everyone has a good day!

I was a little late to aqua this morning but kept working after class while talking with the instructor. I was surprised at how much stronger my leg/hip felt after just two actual classes plus the little workout I did on Saturday. It would have been nice if I could have gotten started right after the staples came out but that's long gone and things are definitely looking up.

Speaking of compression socks, my husband needs to go in and have the veins in his other leg taken care of. They did one but he hasn't made an appointment for the other. The blood is flowing in both directions rather than one way like normal. He keeps his tennis shoes very loosely tied so he can just slide his feet into them but getting his socks on is an ordeal causing lots of huffing and puffing.

Kerry, glad you got to the pool. And my dh takes forever to get his shoes and socks on---and hasn't worn his compression socks since he broke his knee---I doubt he could get them on right now---and they might be too large as his legs have shrunk---guess we need to check that out before he goes back to work.
Water aerobics for me tonight.

no more double vision thank heavens but noticed today if I turned my eyes to the left to see my daughter without turning my chair, I could feel my eyes losing their tracking and quickly looked forward. The muscles in my eyes hurt when I do exaggerated movements and have for years.

Missed swimming Sat as not feeling good and Sun as had DGS for sleepover. Hoping to go again on Tues.

Hope you can get those sugars under control.

Today was a pretty normal day-a healthy breakfast, Sunday school, church, lunch with the grandkids and then took them home. I got to read the paper before going back to church to count the money which went well and then Elaine and I took it to the bank and back home. Hubby bought pizza for dinner. That's a pretty normal routine for me. Tomorrow morning is physical therapy.

just lost my message - the jist of it was:
- Florida - make sure your SPAT is on your ankle or foot with bottom flat to your skin, you can't stop for even a few seconds or it stops tracking. If it's been less than 10 consecutive mins. SPAT will wipe out the workout
- knee still bad but get 2 laser treatments this week - they'll be back from their hols.
- eye Dr. thinks double vision episode related to Diabetees and with knee injury and being unable to exercise the same, sugars are elevated and it's difficult to lose excess fluids. Any time it happens to get it checked right away. My eyes aren't tracking perfectly and haven't since diagnosed with Diabetes but never before like this was
- have DGS for sleepover tonight and will have him Mon. while Mom and Dad work .Hol. here but not a statutory one so they have to work.
- have a good week all. humid here today - was 25 (77) but felt more like 30+ (86)

Bet the pool felt good.
ON that tracker---do you need a new battery---sounds like that kind of issue? My fitbit started acting up and finally died---it was a connection issue with the battery---they sent me a replacement free of charge---doubt Spark will do that for you.

Sorry your workout didn't track.
I also managed to get to the pool this morning. Larry had to drive me because my car was blocked in the driveway. I spent nearly an hour in the pool-all of it talking with a friend but I kept my legs are arms moving the entire time.

Finally, everything worked together and I made it back to the pool this morning. Nice pool, water, etc. Got my 50 minutes of pool walking in - tracker on, but did not pick up 3/4 of the workout so didn't get credit for even a 10-minute workout. This has been happening a lot lately and I'm getting hacked off. Just did another 12-minute workout to the same results - no notice of a workout.

What is going on - if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Have a good one!

We made it home earlier this evening. Traffic was extremely slow in one spot due to an accident and then we had to slow down for some horrible rain. My plan is to get to the gym/pool in the morning and I have a massage scheduled for the afternoon.

LOL, so kick them, too! I know, I am bad!
Had to turn the ac on last night---humidity just skyrocketed---oh, well, almost 3 days of no ac in July is highly unusual.
We rented "Heaven if for Real" and watched it last night---great movie---highly recommend it. Now going to watch Noah this morning so we can take that back.

Lin, hope you are as thrilled with our suits as I am with mine. Sure hope that eye issue was just a freaky accident and doesn't happen again. Glad the voltaren is helping some---maybe if you keep using it, it will improve even more.

Lecates - I ordered 2 bathing suits - hope I gauged the sizes right because to return for that reason from here is at my own expense. They do ship to Canada but it cost a lot more than $5. Still it was cheaper than what I pay here although I don't yet know what the exchange will be on the dollar. Lot of ifs but I thought it worth it. Thanks so much for the information.

Also, I've been using the Voltaren. I had hoped it would relieve more of the pain but I think it's helping at least. It's pretty bad tonight but I visited a friend this am and toured her gardens - on uneven ground. I also had weight lifting and exercises at Heart Rehab. I shouldn't have tried the ones that involved that leg. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and my exercises in the pool - much easier than on dry land! Today we had another lecture in Rehab as well. It was on Medications. We had to fill out a form the nurse gave us to list our meds - what a joke! I ended up typing a list that was an 8.5"x11" paper both sides listing prescribed, over the counter, and supplement medications. Whenever she was talking about various heart conditions needing types of medications or types of medications for various things, she'd look over her glasses at me and say "of course Lin fits all categories." It was done good naturedly though.

Had a bit of a scare on Sat. We had just finished grocery shopping and we were leaving the parking lot of the grocery store, my husband was driving (thank heavens), and I bent over to reach for my purse to get my sun glasses. It was a bit of a strain because I had my seat belt on but not that much of one. Anyway, I got up and cripes - everything was double. I don't mean a shadow like I see up and down when reading in bright light or on the TV - everything around me was double. My eyes weren't tracking together! When I looked at a line of cars going through the intersection, I could see the entire vehicle and behind it see a full half of it again - the same for the landscape and buildings and people. What a headache I got. It lasted for about 4 mins and was just awful! Being summer, a lot of offices are closed but I managed to get an appt with my optometrist for this Fri. I'm praying she'll tell me not to worry, it was probably a one-time thing. I've got enough on my plate thank-you very much! Wish me luck on Friday.

You'll be glad when it's done though, I'm sure! Did more walking today up and down hills and ramps and thought about bringing my swimming stuff down to the lodge but I'm glad I didn't. The pool is full of a bunch of noisy kids. They are also riding scooters across the deck and up and down the ramps.

Oh, I am aching now---went outside this morning and swept the deck and the sidewalk and steps, then pulled weeds, Then went down into the basement to try to get thru some more stuff down there---think the squatting and the steps make me ache---and my son showed up and he helped me get thru a lot of stuff down there--we threw out 2 bags of trash and took off 3 bags of donation---then we came back and took dh's truck and got rid of all the recycle stuff in the back of it. Definitely a progressive day---good thing I have water aerobics tonight!

We just had the most beautiful day yesterday---the weather was so nice---and a really cool morning today---love this ---wish it could be like this all summer---and great for my electric bill, too. Mowed the lawn yesterday since it was so nice out--so that chore is done for the week.
Hope all of you are having some nice weather.

Yeah for the fitbit! I keep thinking of bringing it along but didn't get the restroom checked out until today. It's really nice with showers and a steam room! Nothing like waiting until half way through vacation. lol My hip is really sore right now and I think lying down with the ice pack will be the best thing for it.

Kerry, pack it in a bag and take it with you, silly girl!
Lin, hope they will ship to Canada---think that is the site that often offers free shipping in the US and $5 shipping elsewhere when having the special.
Good workout in the pool yesterday---and my replacement Fitbit arrived yesterday afternoon and I was able to connect it to the computer without my son's help---a really big deal for me---LOL---so today my goal is to get at least 5000 steps in today--already half way there as I walked for 20 minutes this morning. I know I will be thrilled if I can get closer to 10000---going to Sam's club today and need to mow the lawn since it is a beautiful day here---high of 79 for today and low humidity---front door is open and ac is off!

I still haven't made it to the pool-well into the pool since I am right next to it. If I had gotten the tankini type I could have worn it under my clothes but we can't just run back and forth to the room up the mountainside to change. I'm in the lodge using the wifi to log my food and listen to some dumb mom let her toddler scream. We went to the Cabbage Patch hospital and it is totally different-very fancy now when the last time we were here it was in a rambling old house. We all went to lunch and then our oldest headed home, the middle daughter and her family headed out for tubing and we went back to our condo for a rest. You can tell we're getting old.

The kids and grandkids have been enjoying the pool, water slide and paddle boats. I was going to use the pool this afternoon and realized I forgot to check for steps rather than just ladders. They do have one set of steps so I will have to come back later.

A while back, someone posted a website to order bathing suits from that were chlorine resistant and affordable and thought I might be able to order from Canada (if memory serves me correctly). At the time, I wrote the information on a little piece of paper intending to look it up. I saw today a new topic in our forum on bathing suits designed for people with difficulties getting into regular suits. That jogged my memory about the earlier listing. Can't find the darned note anywhere and I've gone back quite a ways in the discussions here and don't see the original message. If anyone knows what I'm speaking about and how to find it, could you please let me know. thanks,

I just put some of the Voltaren on and will have to let you know if it helps. Wonder why you have to have a prescription for it in the States.

We finally got some rain. I slept through it but my husband said it was quite a thunder storm with quite a light show. I know the clocks were all flashing this morning but fortunately I woke up around 5:15 so was at the pool by 7 to do exercises. My husband showed up at 7:30 to go into the Life Centre to use the treadmill and whatever else he goes on. Shortly after 8 he poked his head in the pool area and called out that I was going to turn into a prune lol. I was in for an hour and a half. With my knee I can't do a lot of my exercises but I kept moving the whole time. (I did have a few extra wrinkles for awhile too, lol.)

We can buy Voltaren over the counter here - don't need a prescription. We have some in the cupboard. I never thought of using that - isn't it just for muscle aches?

Lin, have you ever tried Voltaren Gel? have to get it by prescription---it is a topical nsaid--that way it does not upset the tummy and the meds go right where the pain is----it really works. But for some reason, the doctors won't prescribe it unless you ask for it.
Have gd today---going to walk in the Mall so she can go to the playarea there.

I haven't been too good lately at exercise or tracking foods let alone eating as I should. With the torn ligaments in my knee I am still able to do some exercise in the pool thank heavens but not my water jogging. I can also work out on some of the machines at the Heart Rehab but I've been in so much pain I haven't been doing much else. I went to the pool yesterday for my regular day's work out in the pool and it was closed. The roof is being repaired and the workmen wanted a tarp over the pool for that day. Hopefully it will be open when I go again tomorrow morning. I've had my knee x-rayed and I've started laser treatments to hopefully heal the torn ligament. It can't come soon enough believe me. I can't garden, I'm hobbling about with a cane, stairs are a nightmare and so is getting in and out of the car. Because I can't be as active as normal, my glucose levels are way to high and I'm not getting rid of fluids as I usually do. It's been about 4 weeks and I'm going into my 3rd heart failure because of the fluids - even with watching my sodium - apart from that stupid misread of that pepperettes label. The nurse running the heart rehab wanted the label for her nutrition sessions. I took it to her and showed here where the sodium was listed in grams instead of the usual mg and how the amount listed for just 100 gr. of the piece was 3x what the same amount of ham would be. I also noticed and pointed out to her that it said there were no carbs in it yet it listed 18 mg of sugar - sugar is one of the components of the listed carbs so that can't be! I can't take much of anything for pain so I'm feeling just miserable - one of the reasons I haven't been on much - who wants to spread their misery about. I'll be back when I can be a bit more positive. I've been reading other's messages but my computer only lists messages on here up to the 20th and this is the 25th so that's odd. On one positive note, although it was difficult to navigate on the grass, I went out this morning and took pics of my gardens and posted them on my Sparkpage if anyone is interested in gardens.

I like when the rains come at night, too. Today has been a busy day- after breakfast we went to Sunday School, church service, lunch and then home where I changed into my swimsuit and Larry dropped me off at the gym. I never saw my friend but there were others in the pool. I spent about 20 minutes walking along with other of my PT exercises before getting out, showering and dressing. I remembered to pack all my clothes along with the grabber which I need to pull my britches up! When I go on a busier day I definitely need to bring my purse which is where I keep my lock. I used to have no problem with putting my stuff in a locker without locking it but then people started complaining that things were disappearing. Guess I should start thinking about dinner now.

Glad she came back for you then. How much longer will that take for the muscles to be secure?
Had a lovely lunch yesterday and a good walk--wore my knee brace all day and that helped a lot. Even got some weeds whacked. And it rained last night so no watering needed today---I love night rain---it has a chance to sink in---and we might have more rain today, too. Glad I cut the grass otherwise it would be way too much work after more rain---LOL

Good morning! Yes, it is great to spend time with friends. My DD did come back right at 8 o'clock to pick me up. I am leery of riding in other vehicles because so many people drive bigger cars/vans/suvs which I am unable to just sit in. I have to sit and then swing both legs into the car together-none of the one leg in and hoisting myself up until the implant is securely attached to the bone and the muscles are strong enough to hold it in place.

Everyone keeps talking about BLTs so I may have to find some good fresh tomatoes somewhere so I can enjoy one, too.

LIn, I know, bacon is soooo good! We just had some this week ---found a good price and since we have fresh tomatoes coming off our plants, we had BLT's for dinner---and then I took the last pieces and crumbled them up to put on our French bread pizza last night to change that up. We don't have it too often so that makes it even better.
Kerry, LOL to making too much noise---glad you did and got to enjoy your coffee meeting with your friends. Did dd come back to pick you up or did one of them bring you home?
Mowed lawn last night---good temps for it---but man, my knee did not like that---going to wear my brace when I walk with my friend today just to give it some support. Then going to come home, take a shower, and go out to lunch with the ladies from the church. Nice to get out today to be with other people.
Have a good day!
