Hello, Everyone! Feeling low this week. Another UTI has me and apparently it is resistant to CYPRO so I'm on a new one. I don't think a weeks worth of antibios will work because this thing has been with me far too long and they don't actually kill it. I have to go back to the doctor next Friday so we're going to talk. I can't take most antibios and this is probably the last one to try. What happens if it doesn't work either? A bottle brush?

My stomach was hurting so bad and I've been told that if it gets that bad, your stomach will hurt. He gave me Prilosec for the stomach pain. It's making me dehydrate ridiculously. Good think I am a fighter or I think I would be dead and gone by now.

So look out medical world. I remember the UTI I had 2 times ago. My test came back and they never told me I had a UTI, which let it go until I was having stomach pains. Then they looked at my tests and said, "Oh, you have a UTI!" Wonder what would have happened if I would not have called with the stomach pains?

Doctor was on vacation at the time so it wasn't his fault but it was the fault of the PA and the nurses and the associate doctors that I sure were supposed to be handling his patients. He's moved away from that group now to another group in a much better neighborhood and newer building. Don't like the lab though. They close at 4pm and you have to have an appointment. They made me wait a week after doctor ordered the blood and urine tests, which allowed the uti to grow more. I had a cow, but nothings going to change their new rules. Nothing in that building seems to move very fast. It's worse than a lawyers office.

Too bad I like the doctor so much. Off to work. Have a good one.

Can't live without friends!! I have the grandkids today and even though they are plenty old enough to take care of themselves it has given me an excuse for a lazy day. I have the washer running and need to get out the vacuum along with a nylon stocking and see if I can vacuum up my lost contact. If not I have to order a new one and the last one was $80 since I wear hard lenses.

That works too.
Had a good workout last night and then we all went out for pizza---it was so nice to be out with others and not just ourselves---we need friends!

I'm more the type who makes a comment out loud to whoever I'm with in a not so quiet voice about how wrong that is while walking by. I'm not so good at confrontation but I am good at making comments on their web site.

Oh, I have been known to tell off a manager that does that---and if they give me lip, a call to headquarters follows---always wakes them up if you say that.

I'm hoping for a cool day to mow. Cool would be anything below 90. I haven't really looked at it recently other than noticing it's 90 % weeds which is really irritating with all the money I've put into it. We slept join this morning so no water aerobics for me and are going to a movie this afternoon. I'll need some exercise after that.

I also hate managers who yell at employees in front of customers. That tells us the management is bad because they didn't properly train the employee and has the gall to blame the employee. I always want to tell them to take it to the back room.

So right, a restaurant of any kind is only as good as the manager who is running it---and a dictator does not work well either as the employees don't do as well with them either. And man, do I dislike one who berates an employee in front of customers or other employees---they have no skills.
I was able to mow the entire lawn yesterday with no break---but those last few swipes were tough---but glad I got it done yesterday as it will be in the 90's for the next 5 or 6 days and high humidity. Looking forward to water aerobics tonight and think we will go afterwards for pizza with my workout partner and her dh.

Lecates, he was mad at me-he seemed to think I was rebuffing him. He doesn't get that it's often hard to get comfortable with these 4,artificial joints. He got over it but I stayed awake until he was home.

Pat, I'm sorry you didn't have a better experience at Dunk in though you definitely got an experience. I got mine at the theater- both indoor and outdoor. The new head manager here has fired a couple folks and given warning to a couple others. She is the type that expects everything to be done right and no being lazy, dressing wrong, goofing off etc. We actually see them sweeping the floors and tables between customers. Plus she tries to get to know the regulars which makes them feel important. I do keep my receipt when I earn my free coffee but usually use my phone coupon to pay. I just worry I will accidentally delete it. 😊

I did my aqua class this morning along with 30 other folks, then we went to a new sandwich place for lunch and just finished bathing the cat. Hopefully we can start getting rid of her fleas. Since Larry was holding her feet she just laid in the sun and then sat in my lap until she decided she was dry enough.

I am always so happy to have people back. I understand when life gets in the way, schedules don't work, etc., but it makes me happy to know that they realize they feel better when they get themselves to class.

New class got off to a good start last night. Two ladies who'd had to stop coming because of work schedules found a way to return to class.

Another adult class tonight, plus two parent/child classes with the littlest age groups. They are so adorable.

Kerry, is your dh mad about the cpap machine? yes, he would never admit to having anger issues----scary that he got behind the wheel of a car in that mood---kind of reminds me about that person who shot all those people in the movie theater.
Florida, glad you are going to look for another job---young kids have no work ethic and it is getting worse out there. And lets not get into their use of their cell phones while working. And we are not making it any better with allowing them in our schools now---it was a nightmare this year in school---by the end of the year, kids were actually making and taking phone calls in the classroom---definitely against policy but who enforces anything anymore.
Legs really acted up last night after water aerobics class---might have been a consequence of getting dehydrated when at the zoo with gd yesterday---no power so they were not selling anything and it was really humid. I tried to drink enough when I got home but think it affected me more than I thought.

Hello, Friends.

Going to play today as it's my Sunday. Looking for a new job. I'm still at Dunkin' but I've reached a point where there are so many things that are not right and not being fixed and one of 3 - 4 managers on the morning shift are at fault. Dunkin' has a standard that we are supposed to follow so when you go to their online menu/nutritional page, you can look up the item you want and know what you are going to eat or what you already ate. However, these people are just throwing the stuff in, without measuring or weighing it, even though there is a digital scale beside the machine and measuring cups beside the machine. They have sacificed accuracy for speed and because of that, the speed is down the tubes because people are coming back complaining about what they got, asking for replacements and getting it, which eats up more time and supplies, and they refuse to see it. My GM, the lady who hired me, is on vacation for the next two weeks and I decided that since I see issues that are not going to change, other than expecting to me to get accurate and fast on the cash register without touching one, it's time to move on. There are plenty of office jobs out there that pay 10.00/hr instead of 8.15/hr and life is more relaxing in an office. I wanted to see what it was like working in a fast-food restaurant and I'm happy for the chance and "experience" but it is definitely time to move on for me. All of the people, except one, are great, the company is great (a little sugar, fat, and salt overboard) and their standards are excellent if and when followed. I do not understand why the training manager for the company (nationwide) cannot fix the problems this restaurant is having. She gave orders to stop screwing around, pay attention to what you are doing, and get the work done. We went from a zoo to a place so quiet you could hear a pin drop for almost 30 minutes (no customers at the time) and she told the managers, no cigarette or phone breaks. Then she asked if everyone understood and she looked at everyone, including me standing behind her frosting donuts, and we had to give an answer. She went back to her office and one co-worker immediately went out the door and had a cigarette break and came in talking on her phone. She got caught - Donna has cameras everywhere inside and out on the property. She sees all those cameras on one screen in her office. She had also told us all that if a supervisor asks us to do something, to do it or we can leave and not come back. She was going to have a jobfair and get rid of the goof-offs we had already collected. Now there are signs on all the doors, inside and out, stating we're hiring experienced crew members.

We have 3 - 4 managers that don't even follow her orders - how can you expect everyone else to follow those same orders. I look at it like this. When you hire kids out of highschool with absolutely no work experience or ethics, they are still highschool kids and they are going to be silly and try to use the front-line area (a small alley filled with other workers and things, to do cartwheels because they can do cartwheels. No thought to safety or health. I don't want to be around that kind of action any more. Last think I need is to be smashed into someone doing a cartwheel that, for some reason, failed. The managers do nothing. and one adds to the issues instead of stopping it. The one that seems to be the closest to the GM. Just don't understand it.

KG - did you know you can put your Dunkin' Perks on your Iphone or Android? I didn't know that until I started cashiering before I wasn't allowed to touch a cash register, because one new person had so many cancellations on his day of using the cash register, that the entire store was in trouble with corporate for it. Since I wasn't given a number to a cash register, I could never sign in to it, even though promised 3 times, and then told not to touch the thing. It's like buying a team of NFL players - the best money can buy and then making them sit on the side lines and not touch the football, forfeiting all the games. And then complaining about it to boot. I don't understand that, don't need the stress, and I'm getting out. Too bad for them, glad for me.

Have a great one.

I don't know about the housing-I think my friend was saying she is equal to some of the officers in her job though she is not IN the Navy. She was telling Tara about what it was going to be like over there from her own experiences. I didn't mention that a lot has changed since the 70's. lol

I hope your mom is healing well-I know it does take longer as we get older. The boot is at least easier than a cast.

My husband decided to have a fit last night when I went to bed so he took off his cpap, put in his teeth, and put his clothes on slammed out the front door. He came back a little later, fixed himself breakfast and then slept in our daughter's old room. He's back in our room now. I really think he needs to get some counseling because in the last couple months he has started getting really angry-I'm surprised it hasn't caused a stroke or something but if he went to talk with someone he would deny it all and everything would be my fault. Oh well such is life. He'll get over it.

Wow, will she have base housing since she is not "Navy"? It is really expensive and hard to find over there---my cousin had to go over there for a year but could not take his family due to housing situation over there.
Have my gd all day today---but dh is going to go to the pool this afternoon so he can watch her when it is time for my class this evening. Taking my mom to the ortho doctor today---she keeps thinking she will not have to wear the cast after today---I told her that she is dreaming as it takes at least 6 weeks for healing to be finished---and with her being older, it might take longer. Hopefully there will be signs of healing in it.

Glad you're feeling better. We had our grandson this morning and we went to Sunday School, then had a small going away get together for a member being transferred to Japan-her husband is staying here as he just started a new job on the Navy bases. Tara is employed by the Navy and works on base but I thought it was really strange that she is being transferred rather than her husband who IS Navy. Their daughter will be going with mom. While we were chatting I got a surprise when our daughter walked in the door and attended church with us. She is working the middle of the week for a while so she decided to come to church. I just got home from counting the money and depositing it so it's time for a mental rest.

Good for you in helping that fellow customer out---honestly, they don't train people very well anymore. My mom and I went to Dunkin Donuts the other day---haven't been in ages--the 2 girls both asked if we needed help but we told them we were still trying to decide when the manager puts his big self up there and asks us if we need help---well, I had to tell him he could help by moving out of the way as I could not see all the choices as he was standing in the way and informed him that the girls had already asked us. And he really did not get out of the way to see all the choices.
I did feel better yesterday and feel better today, too. Looking forward to going to church today.

I told the manager at Dunkin yesterday that she needed to make sure the employees can all explain the perks program as the girl in line ahead of me asked if they had one and the gal said "I think all the Dunkin gift cards do". Not much of an explanation and so I said, yes, they do and explained the whole thing including the free donut on the receipt. She thanked me and said she would have to get into the program. I should have gotten a prize for that. LOL

Since I didn't get to aqua yesterday and slept too late for breakfast out with Larry (kind of on purpose) I went to class this morning. Mattie really got going with starting us on a set of moves slowly and then speeding them up-way up!! Everyone enjoyed it-lots of laughter through class. We have a going away dinner at church this evening.

Thanks, I do feel better this morning but not going to push it too much today as I want to go to church tomorrow. I didn't eat much yesterday so might be why I feel kind of weak but you know I am sick if I don't eat---LOL
Florida, I don't think I would want to work there---first off I don't like the smell of coffee---2nd is that I always spill it on me if I try to carry it----3rd as I would not put up with that crap, either let me have a register to try out for real or you get out there and teach me how to do it properly. Did they hire you to make the stuff or run the register? Not worth the hassle.

LECATES - hope you got past your day of "Feel like crap" and are back to feeling wonderful. I know what days like that can do to me. Yesterday I felt bad, but it was emotional. I got jumped on by my boss yesterday for something I felt was totally unfair and then left feeling like I should just clock out, get my purse and leave my apron and hat and leave, letting her wonder where/what/why, etc. I can't get fast and accurate on the cash register when no one will let me work with their cash drawer and she keeps me from working on it and won't let me have a number to have my own drawer and reap the consequences of it. What else am I supposed to feel? There is a computer version of the POS and I played with it all afternoon yesterday, but it even tells you up front that it doesn't cover every type of order possible, and with so many choices of orders, they've put the main buttons on top, then you push one and it takes you to a sub menu, that can actually take you further down into more submenus. Some of those menus do not yet make sense to me. And I notice, looking over my co-workers shoulders, that others have the same issue.

Have a better day.

It would be nice if my husband would do that with another grandchild on the way from daughter #3, but it doesn't seem to faze him much. He loves babies but when the start growing up and forming their own opinions it's not so great.

I skipped the aqua class this morning but am planning to go tomorrow if I don't get in after I finish the couple of small spots DH didn't mow this morning with the riding mower. That sentence could have been worded better. lol

You are right. You can fix him healthy meals but you can't stop him from stopping at a store and picking up bad stuff or eating bad choices at restaurants/fast food. I have been pretty lucky so far and my dh is really behaving himself. He wants to see our gd grow up. And hopefully have others.

I have people who think I'm totally wrong but I decided if my husband insists on killing himelf with the food he choses then he can but he doesn't need to drag me down with him. People seem to think you can make a stubborn person do what they need to do rather than what the want to do. My mother in law died of diabetic complications in her 60s-don't know if he is trying to beat her or what.

We had a great Silver Sneaker class this morning-70 minutes worth. We started with a lot of stepping (for balance)-just stepping forward, backward, side to side, etc. but my left hip was not liking it at all. Guess I need to do more strengthening on that side.

I just hope I don't forget the info I learned. I got all the work done in one day so I don't have to go in today. I was surprised that I did so well and got thru it---but I was frustrated at times.
Why are men so stubborn? I kept telling dh to cut back on his sweet tea---oh, no, I don't know anything. I told him he needed to be up doing more and that sitting there was killing him---did he listen? No---but now he has to prick his finger every day and not eat all the things he wants to eat. But I did not know what I was talking about---even though the doctor told him I was right.
Had a good workout in the pool last night. But I am dragging this morning for some reason. Think I am just worn out from taking care of everyone but myself---so I should listen to my own advice---LOL

I did a short power point class but it's been so long ago I've forgotten it all.

Our insurance offers a free nurse just a phone call away 24/7. They keep calling to talk with Larry but he refuses to talk with them. One day I should answer and talk with them myself. He had an appointment this morning to go over his lab results and everything was pretty good. They said his kidneys are down a bit more but not enough to see a specialist although it 'might be a good time to start looking for one and getting to know them'. That doesn't sound real good. I keep wondering what a difference it would make if the man would drop his Coke Zero to one a day and have water the rest of the day. He only drinks water in a restaurant or if he's hot enough to start cramping but goes through a case of Coke Zero every 3-4 days. He is so darn stubborn.

Today I did water aerobics, picked up a few dead branches that blew down in the wind yesterday and had lunch and feel ready for a nap. Maybe I should up my vitamins!

The class was okay---the next 2 will be much more interesting---I hope--they will be on diet and what to eat and how to track and what he should be having---did learn that our insurance will cover a one-on-one with dietician, too. Plus 2 hours with one each year afterwards. Sure hope she is right on that. I do have dh's numbers at a good range so guess I am doing something right.
Taking a 2 day computer course on creating power points---will be useful with my student for this coming school year---he doesn't know how to do it either so hopefully I can teach him how to do it.

Yesterday, Monday, I did manage a really quiet day. I started today with a healthy breakfast, read the newspaper and did an hour of water aerobics. DH and I had lunch at Applebee. Not much else though. Nowyou sound like you were super busy today. How was the class? We never got to one because it was at the hospital and the insurance company required a $300 copay.

You will need help when you go to catch them. Did you succeed in doing very little today?
I haven't done much---had to get up early to go watch gd while she slept until my son got home from work, then head home to get my mom ready to leave, then we left early so that dh could get blood work done before the diabetes class---took my mom to her house to stay while we were at the class---then sat for 2 hours for the class---then drive to get my mom and then drive home---I did take a nap once we got home ---then had to catch up on computer stuff---then a storm came thru---hopefully it won't be so humid for the next 2 days. For the next 2 days I will be taking a computer class at the high school that I could use during the school year.

Good morning. I really am trying to have a rest day today-stayed in bed until 8 and have had breakfast and read the paper so I'm off to a good start. It seems to be clouding over early today-another excuse to do nothing. I am trying to get the kittens to come closer to the house by making a trail of cat food hoping they will get used to seeing people in relation to food-that should make it easier. I'm trying to figure out a way to catch them all. If I use a cage and get one the others will probably disappear. The mom will probably be having more kittens before long as I've seen to males around lately. Hopefully the kittens are too young for that to start and will stay that way for a while!!

Good luck catching the little ones----can you trick them with food? Sounds like a very busy day for you. I did absolutely nothing yesterday except for fix dinner.
Going to be super hot today---so I went to Walmart at 7 AM---got my stuff and headed home--big difference from when I went in to when I came out---crazy! Have pool tonight.

I am SO tired. Today was church and Sunday School then lunch drop grandkids home, grocery store, home, back to church to count money, to the bank, home. Days like this make me more tired than days when I get an actual workout. We are having a nice thunderstorm right now and mostly just that-thunder. There are 3 little kittens in the backyard looking for food-I have to figure out how to catch them all. I think if I get one the others will stay away but they all need to be spayed or neutered before being set free again or given to a good family. There should be a couple more plus the mom running around. I wish I had known they were in the back before they got big enough to run around.

If that is your idea of nothing, what do you do when you really have something to do? LOL
I have been bored today---did use wood cleaner on some of my kitchen cabinets---don't have enough to do them all so I might run out later tonight---I was so bored I had to do something. I should stick in a load of towels but the washer does most of the work.
My mom has been asleep most of the time since she got home---we were out of the hospital just before 10. I already notice improvement when she is awake so hopefully the blood flow to her brain will help her speech some.

It does help with stress-you can even talk out loud and no one will hear. emoticon

I decided to do nothing today so I have emptied the dishwasher clean up one bathroom, find the box of teacups my mother gave me a few years ago and put them on the shelf Larry put together yesterday, and vacuumed.

That is big! Glad the kids enjoyed VBS.
I did get the yard mowed after we got home---it was a good release for the stress of the day---had enough energy to mow all at one time and even did some of neighbor's back yard that they never do----drives me crazy!
Mom should be coming home this morning---waiting til shift change has settled in to call and see how she is and get a timetable for picking her up.

The front yard is small and can be mowed in 20-30 minutes but because we sit in a curve our backyard is huge 180 ft across the back and 180' down one side to the street.

I enjoyed our Friday morning coffee group and water aerobics even though my brain seemed to be still fried from the sun while mowing. I had a nap this afternoon and then we finished up VBS this evening. I'm glad it is over and really glad all the kids seem to have had a good time.

Mowing the lawn is a good calorie burn---you must have a big yard for that long.
We had lovely weather yesterday and dh and I got some yard work done---I pulled weeds out of my flower beds---haven't touched them in a month and boy, did they need weeding. Then helped put the stuff dh was digging up in the trash bin for him.
Today is mom's carotid artery surgery ---we have to be there at 11. Going to be a sit and wait kind of day. Kind of hope I can get home to mow the lawn as it will actually be another pleasant day here and hot this weekend.

Yep those cats will let you know when you've slept enough!
I did more than an hour and half of pushing the mower. I was just going to do a little but kept saying "a little more" so I did it all even after the clouds and breeze disappeared. I'm feeling a little friend and am drinking a lot of water. Day 4 of VBS this evening.

How silly of her--kids have to go to the bathroom--and like you said---they have to go!
I had a good workout last night---I ended up sleeping until almost 8 this morning---the cat jumped on the bed as I was in bed way too long for her---LOL

Oh, that reminds me I need to reserve the church hall for my daughter's baby shower in October. Guess I better double check the date.

I enjoyed pretty good class this morning. Just by doing it myself the instructor picked up my jumping jacks while turning in a circle. Not sure how the rest of the class enjoyed it but those of us who have done it with other instructors did. Tonight is day 3 of VBS-hopefully it will be as smooth as last night. I only got a "look" from another leader because I took two girls to the restroom and we were missing the singing. emoticon When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

I know what you mean, we don't have many kids either. So it was nice to have a baby shower at the church last weekend.
Enjoyed the use of a pool and a hot tub last night at the Red Hat pool party---kept moving my legs while in the pool.
Today my mom wants her hair cut so that it is shorter and easier to take care of before the surgery. She also wants to go by her house to pick up some things. Hopefully I will get back home to be able to go to water aerobics tonight----need it for stress relief.
Can you believe that July is half over already? I cannot believe I have not finished my summer cleaning yet, either---it is bugging me that I just don't have time for my stuff and have to do for everyone else---guess the stress level is causing this.

Wow, glad you were able to catch it before something really bad happened.
I remember when my kids were young we would have an average of 80 kids for VBS. We had our own plus a lot from the neighborhood. For several years I helped in the kitchen and enjoyed that. I'm not so good with the kids but with only 3 it's been pretty good. Only a few of the kids are from our church because so many of our members have grown up and moved away or have been transferred since we live in a military 'town'. We are becoming an 'old' church.

So, he is saying that only women love good food? LOL--tell him that one.
VBS can play havoc on routine. Hope you have a good turn out at it.
My pool partner was finally back from her hip replacement. I have missed her so it was good.
My mom has to have surgery---already scheduled for this Friday---her blockage is really bad and just waiting for it to totally close off and cause another stroke---so we had to get it in as soon as possible---so today we go for the pre-op stuff that needs to be done. Now I have to decide if she will be up to the doctor visits she has scheduled for next week and cancel her Friday appointment. Just more things to worry about.

My husband doesn't care to go to Panera cuz it's more of a girly restaurant. Amazing how many men I see there, though. I have a roast in the crock pot but don't know when I will eat since I will be at VBS til after 8.

LOL, I love that soup, too---bet they will have it again when it is Fall. My fav reason to stop at Panera---might see if Mom wants to go there this week---dh doesn't even want to try it but we like it so we can go together. I take mom to the doctor to talk about the carotid artery blockages today. Not sure what we will hear. Glad I have water aerobics this evening as I think we will both need a break from each other.
Have a good Monday!

It sounds like your mom is recovering quite nicely. I do agree that she should hang around longer because not being able to use one arm makes lots of things impossible!

Pat, I do agree that smokers do not care about the environment or anything and don't even think when they drop those things on the ground. Even worse are the ones who sit at a traffic light and dump an entire ash tray. Not one of them even pay attention when fire risk is high and they are warned repeatedly to not do it.

It is raining pretty good here this evening after a lot of thunder. Luckily it waited until I got home from money counting. I even stopped at BJ's to pick up some Panera broccoli cheese soup but they don't have it any more. Maybe it's a seasonal thing. I'll have to check out the grocery stores tomorrow. If I get to craving it too badly I will just have to make a stop at Panera for lunch one day.

Kerry , we try to do that stuff early rather than later here but sometimes the bushes in the front yard get afternoon doing as that is when there is some shade there. We had a lot of rain here yesterday until 2---so no watering needed for a few days.
Florida, no, they just have no pride or work ethic anymore. I instilled that into my children about doing a job right and all 3 are very good employees because of that. Smokers are just rude, period!
Low humidity today so it should be a pleasant day---my mom is going to treat us to steaks for the grill today and our youngest son will come over to eat with us. She is doing better with eating decent meals here so that is a good thing. I think she will need to stay here until her arm is healed and probably would be best if she stayed with us during rehab as dh or I could take her---it will take a while to relearn to bend that arm.

Hi, Friends!

I've been going to work in the mornings 7-11 and by the time I get home, it's too hot to breathe out there. I want to go to the pool but I know, by the looks in the sky, that by the time I get my suit on, it's going to be pitching lightning and rain, so I don't even bother.

Every morning when I go to work, If they let me, and they usually do, I go out and sweep up the parking lot. This includes the drive through lane. If I get enough time in one place, I sweep all the leaves and debris from the curb. I almost have the entire perimeter of the parking lot cleaned now and it looks so much better, plus I sweep the cigarette butts out of the flower beds near the front door and along the front side of the building.

What is irritating is those that get out of their cars and throw a butt on the sidewalk or in the parking lot right after I swept it up. They have absolutely no respect nor do they care. They are immune to their butt tossing. I don't get mad, I just go back and pick it up. Once in awhile, if they look back and see me sweep it up, the say, "sorry," especially since I greeted them with a smile and a, "Welcome to our Dunkin'," But I know tomorrow, if they drive in while I'm out there, they will do it again because they just don't see it.

Oh well, in a way, you could say it is job security. I know I'm the only one that does it. They hired another lady to do it, but she only goes after the huge things and you have to tell her everything. She used to work at KFC and quit. I wonder why she's at Dunkin'?

Have a great one.

Being sick certainly does slow one down for several days afterwards. I'm glad you did make it into the house to dehydrate. Sometimes we let those nice breezes fool us. We got a new chain for the saw so we can get some branches trimmed-I really hate when I get hit in the head when mowing. We also need to trim some bushes but since it is so hot we may put it off at least until evening by which time it will probably be raining which is normal for Florida.

First thing I did was the front yard so I didn't get a notice from the city---LOL---and I almost didn't get the driveway done before I had to come in and rehydrate and cool down---not so much from the heat as it was pleasant and a nice breeze, but more from me being so sick this past week. Came in and my mom finally go up so I got her breakfast ready and then was able to go out and finish the backyard. Then in the afternoon I had to bake a cake for the baby shower today---that drove dh out of the house----the smell was too enticing and I couldn't allow him to clean the bowl due to his sugar issues(I think that really bothered him but I did it for his own good)---so he went to the pool to do his workout. Then I took my mom to visit my aunt and afterwards we went out to Chick-fil-a for dinner and we went shopping afterwards to get the shower gift. Came home and decorated the cake for tomorrow so I am all set except to wrap the present.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

We have a huge backyard so I have often had to mow in stages. I usually start with the small section we can see out the back windows. LOL Yesterday's weather wasn't great but Wednesday was near perfect for me.

We had a sub in aqua this morning-nothing new about that because they always pull or leaders out to fill in for other leaders who are sick or out of town, etc. No one cares about the aqua class in LAF management. We wind up with a 30 minute class so another class can get their full hour. Two of us stayed and worked out on our own for the other 30 minutes. One lady came in 10 minutes late (normal for her) and as soon as the instructor finished she left. I'm not sure what the point of being there was, but I guess she tried.

LOL, hope you find that switch.
It is so much nicer here today---humidity got pushed away for a day---need to get out and mow the lawn---going to do it in stages---it is so high it will be tough going anyhow.

There's always an extra sports fees at the schools here, too.

I won't be doing water aerobics today but Silver Sneakers IF they have a class. Last week we all got there to discover the aerobics room closed. I need to make myself a list so I can stop at Wal-Mart and get some things I've been needing for a while. I may just need a switch to turn my brain back on!

Kiddly classes are going well, 2 more tonight. Water exercises classes also going well, but lots of folks are out of town so attendance is low. My lap pool is closed for renovations. I'm going to try to squeeze in a swim at another Y tomorrow morning.

It is probably an insurance/liability issue on pools at a high school---but they will pay a fortune to have insurance to have football programs. They now charge all athletes to play sports here in our high school system---oh, sure, they say it goes to their program---but if you add up the amount, it just covers the football insurance premium.
I did get to the pool last night---had a good work out but did not push myself to my limit.

There wasn't anyone at the desk when I left so it will have to wait. There are only 4 weeks before school starts up. It would be nice if the high schools around here had swimming pools like we had when I was in high school in Nebraska. The gym that LAF bought out had a summer program for teens which allowed them to come in free during the 3 months of summer. I did a little mowing to get the places Larry didn't get done with the riding mower. Cut down on my exercise plan but that's okay, at least he was helping.

It is really dark inside the house here and it's only 3:30. I can hear a bit of rumbling but no rain yet.

Hope they allow it but kind of doubt it.
I am hoping to go to water aerobics tonight---have to see how I feel after a whole day of gd---but I went to Walmart last night and was able to go all over without any ill effects afterwards---definitely making progress in feeling better.

I did get to water aerobics this morning and even got there early so I got an extra 10 minutes. This afternoon I went to the doctor with my youngest daughter and heard the baby's heartbeat. She was sick over the weekend and had to work because another employee got mad and quit so she was a bit worried about the baby. Seems all is well, though. The clouds are rolling in which should keep it from getting any hotter today. Tomorrow I am planning on the pool-depends on my husband and what he decides we should do and I need to ask at the desk if my grandson can use the pool. He could use some work on his swimming since all they have is an 18' round pool. I'm sure they won't let my granddaughter in as she's only 12 but I'll ask.

Good for your grandson---that is how my youngest son got started in his career---by doing that kind of stuff at church. Sorry you had to spend all day at the church though.
I feel a bit better today but did not go to the pool---and not sure about Wednesday either as I will have my gd all day---but we haven't had her all summer and I am looking forward to spending some time with her.

Wow. Another whole day at church due to a funeral and DH was asked to make sure the doors were open by 8 am and grandson was doing the audio visual so we wanted him to have plenty of time to get set up since this was his first solo gig. He's 15 but this was a bit tense because of the occasion. He was told to wear dress shirt, pants and shoes but after a few moments of thought he decided a jacket and tie would be appropriate so we found a new jacket at Penneys yesterday for $50 and he wore one of grandpa's ties. He looked pretty sharp. By the time the reception was over it was about 4. emoticon

Does that mean you got caught in the downpour? What a pain to have to go to different stores for what you needed but good for extra steps.
I am not sure if I will go to the pool tonight or not---tried walking this morning but only lasted for 6 mintues before I decided I needed to stop. But will try again later.

We did the normal church thing, then I helped get the money counted and deposited. I stopped at the grocery store for some sandwich ingredients for a funeral reception tomorrow and on my walk from the store to my car I really felt like a water baby!! The wind had picked up and we had lightning, thunder and a downpour. It had stopped by the time I got home and then Larry and I drove to two more stores before finding what I needed. Now I am hearing more thunder but don't care. lol

Carol, take some ibuprofen before you go to work out---then the muscles won't ache as much afterwards as it starts working right away---heart doc taught me that when my boys were playing ball---they never had sore arms after pitching so I knew it worked.
Kerry, glad no one was hurt---crazy idiots on the road.
Staying home today but taking a shower and getting dressed today---I stayed on the couch all day yesterday.

Hope everyone has had a great day so far. We headed out before 6 to get to summer camp on time. We were early enough to see the entire closing ceremony and were also able to find our friends' daughter who is a counselor there. We had a safe trip home though not totally uneventful. We were all doing the speed limit when a speeder flew by and nearly sent two vehicles into the ditches as he went down the center of the road. I can't imagine how scared the people in the oncoming car were. Luckily everyone kept control of their vehicles and were able to keep going.

Happy 4th of July emoticon emoticon

Lecates - There's nothing wrong with 6 pm. What was wrong was my thinking. Actually, the more I think about it, the more 6 pm sounds good to me. It will mean a very light dinner on those nights and a chance to get my body working afterwards instead of sitting and reading or watching TV (which mostly stinks anyway!)

I totally overdid it yesterday emoticon I went to the gym with DH and walked on the treadmill and used a couple of the weight machines. Then I went downstairs and we used the walking pool. Some friends met us there and so walking and talking, I lost track of my time and walked/jogged for 45 minutes. I am a little stiff today but, truthfully, the stiffness and soreness in my upper back and shoulders is from spending too much time on my notebook computer and using the mouse. I'm going to have to cut down my use of it at home. I work with a computer and so I have to choice at the office. I think the problem is using this notebook on my lap though and not the PC on my desk. Anyway, we are going to go to the pool today and I'm just going to walk and let the water sooth my aching joints.

There is a fireworks display at the rec center near our house tonight. I think we're going to watch that and ooh and ah for a while emoticon Hope everyone enjoys the weekend! emoticon Be safe and God bless!

Prednisone does make one go to the bathroom more often---hopefully when I take it in this morning it will wear off by evening---yesterday I had to take it in late afternoon when I got it as I wanted to feel better as quickly as possible.'
I have a friend who read that and she changed her eating pattern quite a bit and uses alternate grains.

LECATES - talk to your doctor about the bathroom issues. My husband found out he was taking a med at the wrong time of day (just before bed) and they told him to change the time he took them and he would not longer be going to the bathroom at night. He changed and it worked. Don't know what meds you are taking, but your doctor should be able to help there.

I used to get Bronchitis at least once a year, then it started hitting twice a year. When I moved here, I no longer got the bronchitis. Not sure what happened or why, but I know I lost weight, close to 50 pounds and it seemed to clear up a lot of my issues. Now if I could just lose the last 50 pounds I want, I'd be so happy.

Found out I am grain sensitive. Suspected it when I had to take my blood sugar levels more than once a day. I would take my BSLs right before a meal, then eat, and 2 hours later I would retake the BSLs. When I ate bread, pasta, rice, anything with grain in it and some things without grain in it, my BSLs would rocket. I could not figure it out. After reading a book called Wheat Belly written by a heart surgeon, I found out why grain causes that in some people. It confirmed my sensitivity to grain and I talked to my doctor about it and he confirmed it, too. Good grief is it hard to get my brain to stop wanting toast or sandwiches or anything with breading, stuffing, or grain in it. Ketchup has grain in it. But it is a small amount and I do not use much ketchup so I am ignoring that fact, but almost everything has grain in it. I guess they use it as a thickener or make it plump up or something.

Anyway, we made it to the pool after work yesterday and 10 minutes later, we heard loud thunder and those clouds were coming fast so we bailed and came home. Only got our stretching done. Oh well. Maybe tonight.

Have a great and safe 4th.

When you are off during the day, it makes more sense to do earlier---but I am used to the later time and prefer it.
Up early---guessing meds affecting me---figure I can take a nap later anyhow---but the meds have me up at least every 2 hours to go potty--not like I don't have enough issues with bathroom.

When we were at the other gym we tried classes at 4 so teachers could make it but it seemed that 6:30 worked best. It didn't for me because I enjoy watching Wheel and Jeopardy which are on from 7-8. Poor excuse, I know, but I do enjoy the morning classes. For a while I would go back about 7 and swim for 20-30 minutes. That was when I was serious about getting to my goal weight.

I enjoy the smell of coffee-don't drink a lot of it-just one in the morning. I may need a large one when we head out in the morning for Leesburg which is more than 2 hours from our house-the GS needs to be picked up from summer camp by 9 a.m.

Florida, no way could I work there---I hate the smell of coffee and I always spill it on myself, too. Yuck to that job---sounds like too much work to me but glad you seem to like it.
What's wrong with 6PM? My class is at 6:30 year round and I could go to an earlier class in the summer but don't want them to cancel the late class as I can't get to the early class during the school year. I go home and just get in my pjs afterwards and it helps if you had a really stressful day to unwind in that water. See, night time can be good time to go.
Kerry, hope the car ride does not aggrevate your issues again. Glad you are feeling better. I am not---went on errands today and kept feeling worse and worse---chest was tight and hard to breathe---so I took myself to walk-in clinic and yes, I have bronchitis so on meds and an inhaler. They gave me a breathing treatment and boy, I don't like that combo of drugs---I was so jittery for quite a while and that was not a fun feeling at all. So, don't think I will get the kitchen finished this week unless I feel a whole lot better tomorrow.

Well that stinks. Ours are Wednesday and Friday at 9 and Tuesday and Thursday at 6. We also have another gym location 3-4 miles up the road with classes on MTWTH and Saturday all at 9. I just hate driving down to that interstate area. That gym also has Silver Sneakers classes at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

I did get my hour in class today which felt great. Tomorrow we will be in the car picking our grandson up from summer camp.

I was so excited about signing up for the July session of water aerobics and then found out it was too late to get in the class. There is a session in August so I'll get in on that one. In the meantime, I'll just keep doing the water jogging and going to the gym. I have to tell you all that I was bummed because the other "problem" was that all the classes are at 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. There was a group that meets on Tues. at 8 a.m.and 6 p.m. and Fri. at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Well, Friday is my day off but I work on Tues. So, I thought maybe I could go at 6 p.m. on Tues. and 8 a.m. on Fri. That was a no-go because they won't let you split the times. My first inclination was "so that's the end of that" because 6 p.m. is not when I want to be in the pool. Why? Who knows. I guess I'm just in this mind set that that is too late in the evening and I'll be too tired. But that was yesterday. Today I read an article on Spark and realized that I was just making excuses. There is no reason I can't get myself to a class 2X a week at 6 p.m. So, I've made up my mind I'm going to do it. emoticon

This is why I love Spark - you can always find something to get you thinking in the right direction emoticon

Got to the pool on Thursday, my only day off this week. I was looking forward to having Saturday off, but I was asked if I'd come in and work the morning shift. I can't say no. I just have this feeling that they are asking me to really check out my attitude and desire for full time (still only 30 hours/week), but I am getting tired of the long time without a day off. Last week it was from Sunday through Friday, got Saturday off, and now I'm working Sunday through Wednesday, Thursday off and Friday through - only God knows at this point.

The lady that got me hired (Tineka) has not been in for a week. I know she was hacked last time I saw her, but I didn't ask because I don't want to get into personal attitudes and soap operas at work. It's a real waste of time and hard on the stresses for me. I've got a big enough soap opera of my own going on, so I don't need anyone else's. I won't ask, I don't need details, but I sure miss her and wonder what's going on. She was sure sweet and a good trainer for the cash register.

Today I worked on the front counter coffee service. Actually, it's any liquid they want including smoothies, barista drinks, coffee, iced coffee, iced tea, sweet or unsweet, etc. I'm okay on the coffee, iced coffees, and smoothies, still have to learn the barista drinks. Getting there. We have a new manager - at least I think we do. He's a real nice guy. Seemed to be in training last week, now he's basically on his own, but our Training Manager still comes in, except today - she wasn't in. Our district manager came in and when we got swamped, she dove in to help me. She sure is a sweet lady. Tall and burley, but a heart of gold. I kept going but she bailed me out of a pile of customers. It was my real first crush of customers and everyone was trying to help. Last time I had to leave because there was someone in there that shouldn't have been and it bugged the crap out of me to be tripping over her. Today, it was the District manager and the manager with one other guy that's real good on the barista work and is a very nice person, too. That poor guy get's stuck with with all the heavy work, like emptying trash cans and lifting boxes, restocking the shelves and the freezer and walkin fridge.

Today I learned one thing - if only one thing - make sure you have supplies under the counter so you don't run out. Before the crowd showed up, we had lids, cups, and donuts. I was making the usual coffee, three pots at a time and the special dark-roast in the thermal pot, which takes longer because of what you have to do for it. Anyway, here comes the rush and we ran out of all the lids, most of the cups, and the coffee pots were running dry. I had to stop and make more coffee or we would have been totally out and people would have had to wait. I prevented that disaster, but that's about the time the District Manager saw the crowd getting bigger and bigger and knew I was lost. She did it all and asked me to go get lids and cups. I went, got some lids and some cups, but I discovered that the boxes are not marked as you would hope, large hot cups, small cold cups, etc. They are marked with some stupid code only the informed and experienced employees know. So I'm ripping open boxes and having to look inside. Finally, with some help, I got all the cups and lids I needed and stocked up our shelves, then everyone else, too.

So lesson learned. Tomorrow, I will have a supply of bags, boxes, cups, lids, and all the other stuff needed to run without going nuts looking for stuff under code.

Live and learn I guess. Still not good enough to just go with the flow. When the screens fill up, I get lost. Especially when others are in there, too. My manager got to a point where he marked the cups and I read them and filled them with the appropriate stuff. He'd step behind me and have the spoon ready with the lid so he could stir and lid it. Sometimes he would pour the coffee, but if it was a cold drink, I would do it all except the stirring and lidding. It seems to go faster the more I do it. Hate the lids that don't want to go on tight. I've been burned more than once with the coffee sloshing my hand because the lid came off just high enough to have the cup drop down an inch and slosh the coffee out. Now I have to wipe the cup before giving it to the customer.

Part of the coffee service industry.

Oh well, have a great one and next time you pass a Dunkin - think of me. Especially in the AM. I'm probably pouring some coffee right about then.

Have a great one.

I guess I should have left early because when I got to the gym and locking up my purse I discovered there were no classes this week so repairs could be done.. ?? Must be the a/c because the only other thing in there is the sound system which could be replaced with a CD player. I put in 15 minutes on the elliptical then did a tour through a couple mall stores.

Kerry, we are in a shallow pool. We don't have water walking belts available, but we do have belts with flotation that could be used. I haven't suggested that they try them, because I think the floaties would make them even more unstable by making them too buoyant at that depth. They are both under 5 feet tall. The pool depth is about 3-1/2 feet where they stand, and they are already close to chest/shoulder depth. I want them to be able to put their feet on the bottom and feel secure.

It is going on 10 a.m. and I am still trying to talk myself into getting dressed. I need to get back to the gym plus buy some generic Aleve as the Ibuprofin isn't working for me. Right now the only pain I have is in the upper back/shoulder area from sitting in chairs and car seats that are not made for someone 5'3". Silver Sneakers starts at 11. My husband should be heading out for his lunch-usually with some other retirees from the power plant. Sometimes he invites me along but usually the only time I go is if we need a car worked on and he can't avoid it. I do miss my friends at the gym since we've been gone and then the injuries so it's time to get in gear.

Glad your mom is doing okay with the elbow.

Hopefully they will eventually feel more comfortable. Do you all have flotation belts there? at our pool, those who are not comfortable in deeper water are put in 2 flotation belts---one in the front and one in the back--that really seems to help.
Kerry, are you feeling any better? You might want to go get checked out.
Well, my mom fell on Tuesday and broke her left elbow---thankfully no surgery needed---so yesterday was a visit to the ortho doc. And another appointment added to my calendar. Thankfully I was able to come home and get to the pool last night---it was just me but I pushed myself and got in a good workout as I was very sore last night---LOL
Working on deep cleaning my kitchen this week ---I sure got things done a lot faster in the past without so many interruptions. Like today, we need to run errands again.

I told them I was glad to see them again. In the locker room, one told me she was enjoying it. I don't mind that they don't swim, I would just like them to feel comfortable enough to participate more. Maybe, in time!

Very nice rose. emoticon

It's great they are willing to come back. You may make swimmers out of them, yet.

I noticed that 2 of my students from last session have signed up again--these are the two that are most uncomfortable even just standing in the water!

Both are very short so that the shallowest part of the pool is chest-deep on them. Neither will move away from that wall. One of them does not like to move her feet off the bottom. They are not able to move very much in class because of their discomfort. The rest of the class is moving all over the pool, we do some suspended exercises, etc.

However, I think moving even a little bit in the water has been good for both of them. On the last night of the last session, I overheard them telling someone else from class that they could feel a difference.

I skipped aqua this morning-just no energy, headache or just lazy. I'm still having pain from the fall. I can't believe how the chest/breasts can hurt from falling like that. I had a friend tell me that after a car accident it took a long time for that area to heal. Not what I wanted to hear. I'm not sure what the headache is from but it may just be that I am sleeping but not sleeping well because of the different pains. Enough complaining. I think today will just be a rest day for me.

First night of the session for my high intensity water aerobics class went well. It was a small class (typical for summer here, when people go on vacation or do more activities outdoors). Someone new gave it a try and said she really liked the workout! First night of "regular" class tonight. I also ran into someone in the locker room who'd tried my class once before. She said she was thinking about signing up.
