the teacher for my water fitness class plays disco. the beat is fast and it keeps you moving. I would like some 50s and jitterbug music too, its got a fast and steady beat. Basically I want something upbeat and happy as I struggle through the cardio portions.

I am a BIG fan of the Nu Dolphin. It is made for going underwater. I have great waterproof earbuds that don't fall out as long as I put them in before my ears get wet. The sound is fabulous, the headphone jack (as long as you lock it down properly) is waterproof, and it is designed to wear in an armband or it can attach right to swim goggles and you can actually do laps with it. would fit nicely in your, ahem, center front suit pocket.
The best music to listen to in the pool is whatever keeps you moving. I use every kind of music imaginable to keep going at water aerobics. But for water jogging which can get seriously boring, I pull out the big guns--audiobooks.

I got a waterproof shuffle for practicing my Ai Chi, but I found that the volume gets all weird when the thing is submerged in the pool. It gets REALLY bad if I put in the, um, center front pocket of my suit because it sometimes touches my skin. My theory is that the controls are responding to random electrical charges conducted thru the water. I don't have this trouble if I keep the shuffle out of the water. Anyway, the whole deal is not as cool as I had hoped.
I cannot abide hip hop! Give me jazz, swing, early rock and roll, broadway, nothing rude or vulgar. Ragtime is good. Country moves me. I even like some classical sometimes. Dianne

Branching off from another thread...what kind of music do you like to exercise to? Is there some that you just can't stand?
I've noticed that my different classes have definite different tastes. This morning's group loved the rock oldies. Another group really gets going with '50s and swing. Seems like everybody's happy with Broadway tunes. I've had one person plead with me to never ever play the Beach Boys! (I don't, but when she's not in class, it's Surfin' Safari time!)
