I love the water aerobics because it doesnt cause any stress and tension om my body. Along with arthritis, I have sciatica and spinal stenosis in my back. I've been told by both my dr and other Y members, that they know of people with my ailments who can barely move, are in pain or have had surgery. I am in the pool 5 days a week, early in the morning (5:30 am) without fail. Being retired allows me the freedom to stay as long as I want. There are over 5 of us that are there each morning, either lap swimming or on the recreational side where I go, doing our own thing. No crowds, kids or excessive noises. I also have to inquire about the aqua zumba. We had 2 test classes but I dont think the majority of the members liked it. I loved it.

I like water aerobics and water zumba because it is a great way to do active recovery after 5 days of intense workouts in regular zumba and weight lifting. Still get my blood pumping and some toning in without risk of injury. It gives my body a time to stop hurting.

Water aerobics is also fun! The music our instructor puts on (I'm a baby boomer so I luv luy luy the oldies!) and just talking and laughing with the others is great, too.

I also have osteoarthritis in both knees, as well as in my back (along with all my other back troubles.) Water aerobics is one of the two exercises I can physically do, because the water takes the pressure of gravity off, & I can move like I'm a normal person (most days, that is!) I also have been going so long that I have friends that want to know where I am when I can't come. It gets me outdoors, & gets me a good daily dose of sunshine, which helps with SAD & depression. And afterwards, the spa is right there, & sitting on the jets really helps my back.

The only thing I ever found not to like is getting out of the pool -- man! that return to gravity sucks!

I have arthritis in my left knee so it's a good way to get a low-impact workout without pain. I love using the dumbbells to exercise my arm muscles at the same time as I jog in the deep water to work my leg and abdomen muscles. Plus, there are no mirrors in the pool - lol.

I'm handicapped and I love the fact that I can actually do the exercises. The water holds me up and I can actually do all the exercises. In a life that is filled with "I can't" any "I can!" shouts volumes.

I LOVE being in the water - the feel of it, how it looks. I like that it's low impact. I like that I don't feel sweaty. And the other members of the classes and the instructors are so welcoming, helpful and positive! I'm not very good at it yet, but I love it!

The low impact exercises, that give me the benefit of cardio and strength.

I started water aerobics to build strength and flexibility. I now have friends there that want to know why you missed a class.

New team member LUVW8S has asked this question, and I think it's a wonderful one! I'm sure lots of members have plenty to contribute.

I'll start it off by saying that I love the way water exercise can be simultaneously cardio AND strength exercise.
