who the heck can feel unhappy most of the time - especially this time of year! Here's hoping whoever you are can put a sparking stop to that real fast. I am no Santa, but I do wallow in the peace this season brings ... even if I am in a ruckus the rest of the year! This tip should be in the end of winter blah days ---not the beginning of winter wonderlands.

YEA! Downsizing personal possessions has been our mission for 5 yrs. We got real serious about it in 2004 & got rid of 50% of our household inventory. That allowed us to get a smaller home. 3 months ago we did it again - and are not regretting 1 thing gone - including the formal DR furniture, China, Christmas Tree & other things we seldom use.

It's too cold to plant a garden right now in our neck of the woods. The other alternative I have is to buy some household plants. I especially like the Christmas Cactus and the Pointsetta's right now.

Our children live in different cities but we do try and connect several times a week. Not everyday. My husband and I try to go for walks with each other when the weather is suitable. He is such a romantic....he loves to hold hands while we walk. Every morning we sit on the couch together and have our cup of coffee and talk about everything and anythng. We like to think we can solve the worlds problems that way!!! LOL

Just sy no. If you're already overworked and overscheduled, don't take on more tasks in order to pjlease others. You have to remember to jplease yourself too.
I find this difficult at times because I tend to be a people pleaser. Sometimes we just have to put our foot down and say I need to take care of my needs first. That doesn't mean we are self-ish it means we are self-caring!!

Spend time outside. Getting closer to nature can help you feel more connected to the world at large. Spend time outside today walking, biking, picnicing, or raking or planting a tree.
Sounds like a great idea to me. Maybe a nice walk downtown would be in order. Fresh air always helps to clear the head of negative thoughts and turn them into positive ones. Listening to the sounds of nature can do that to a body!!

Maintain your health. The healthier you are, the more likely you are to be happpy. Eating right, exercising, getting preventive care, and reducing your stress level can all enhance health and happiness.
I take my vitamins everyday and try my darndest to get some form of exercise in each day....even if it's just hula hooping. I do a craft each day (stampin is my game) and take an hour out to watch my favorite TV show. Life is goooooood!!

Deb: What a fortunate sister you have! How wonderful to have her with you on your 1st journey too! Nothing compares to sisters. I am blessed with 7. The last we were together was Oct. '08 on Hilton Head Island. I have some of our pics posted. I hold them all so dear to my heart.

Today I got going & zipped right by my house when I intended to call it quits & come home. I like to do all the things mentioned above as well has have a few cups of warm herbal tea during the day while I sit down and gather my thoughts. I always find ME TIME during my busy day!! I deserve it!!

I volunteered at the hospital today.
We're taking my sister on vacation with us to Vegas in our motorhome and bought her plane ticket home 'cause she can't be gone as long as we can (and we're continuing on to California). She took care of me a lot when I was little (me? little?) so now it's my turn to take care of her!

Yesterday I felt the need to do something for my neighbor who is her disabled Hubby's sole caregiver. I took her garbage cans to the garage door & called to tell her not to back out into them. In conversation I learned she has always wanted to try a deep fried turkey so I promised to bring her one all done & ready to carve on Thanksgiving Eve. We are going to a Turkey Fry with our old neighbors where everyone brings at least 1 to fry & take home. We are doing 2 - one for the Fire Dept. & one for our neighbors. We'll roast a 3rd bird on Thanksgiving Day for ourselves. It sure feels good to give to others after many yrs of always being on the receiving end.

Last year I began keeping a list anytime that I bought myself something. This includes clothes, shoes, t-shirts, souveniers, and special services like perms, haircuts and massages. Writing it down makes me accountable for how I spend my money and keeps me aware of new items that I am choosing to bring into my home.

Savoring your food really does help. Slows me down and adds to the enjoyment. Also gives your tummy a chance to relay to your brain you're full so you don't overeat as much. Eating isn't a race?????? I used to eat like it was.

We recently moved into a new community that keeps me on-the-go pretty constantly. In 2 months, I know more of my new neighbors than the community we lived in the past 5 yrs. It makes a HUGE difference to have a BIG variety of close friends to share life's ups & downs with.
