Well, I am hopeful that this will resolve eventually. Time will tell. I will let you all know what my doc says after I see him on Friday.

I mentioned your post the other day about the muscle spasms you were experiencing 3 months post op to my physical therapist. She said she wouldn't be surprised if you had musccle spasms for life. She said that you are taking muscles that used to glide over moving parts and now some parts do not move whick can cause spasms. Probably not what you want to hear. Do the best you can to take care of yourself.

It has been 15 yrs. since I had my last back surgery. I have more pain at times then before! At that time, I almost bled-out on the operating table. Took 9 units of blood. Both lungs collapsed. Terrible time. And, still pain. I have had very few pain-free days since than.

It will be 2 years in January that I had my surgery of L4, L5 & S1 fused. I still have pain and sensations in my back, hips and legs. I don't like to take pain meds but I really like my TENS unit. It seems to work the best for me but everyone has different pain levels and in different places. I hope you can get yours under control soon. HUGS

I had that kind of pain intermittantly for about 6 months. Had some success with medications, but gradually improved and finally almost quit completely. Good luck!

I am 3 months post a double lumbar fusion with instrumentation. I continue to have MAJOR muscle"tightness" and spasms. I took muscle relaxers from the day of surgery until just recently and stopped taking them because I didn't feel they were doing anything. I am starting to wonder though because I think I might be feeling a little bit worse without them. I see my doc on Friday and will run it by him. Anyway, for those who are recovered, how long did you have the muscle pain post fusion? I can't wait for this pain to resolve...everything else is fixed but the muscles!
