Thanks for the welcome!

I've lived here most of my life, but was away for 5 years. When we moved back the pool was closed and just re-opened in February. The opening date kept being pushed back... it was frustrating, but I am very thankful it is open agian!! I went swimming with my niece again today, and will do laps tomorrow morning after work.

Take care
Stacy

Glad you found us! and glad your pool is open again. 8 months...yikes! I'd be miserable.

Hi! I am a newbie as well, and LOVE to swim. I used to swim all summer when we had an outdoor pool in town. Luckily we now have an indoor pool that is open year-round. (After they were just closed for 8 months for re-tiling... argghhh...) Anyway, I just started out swimming again about 3 weeks ago, but I'm already noticing improvement. I think I will go with the smaller challenge to start with and work my way up to the larger one. :)

Take care
Stacy

Good thoughts on the Advil. I'm going to take it this week and then see if I can swim next week without it hurting.

Kelly,

I'm glad to know you're no longer in pain! sucks to be out of commission for such a small thing (for some reason pain doesn't seem like a valid option to skip the pool... I'm such a water fan :P).

About the Advil, careful with that as you will be numbing the area and might force it resulting in more pain.

Aldana, my arm is better, thanks. I took a week off from swimming and went again last night. During the past week I have been taking anti-inflammatories. Last night I took a couple of Advil before I went and swam 80 laps with no pain, and just a little popping noise. When I got home, the area around my elbow was feeling a little stiff and sore so I iced it. I'm taking today off, but will swim again tomorrow. I'm really glad this didn't put me out of commission for too long!

Hi,
On this site we have a Q & A thread and we have Aldana who is knowledgable with swimming. She might know the answer to your question. Would you post there please? Best of luck with the sore arm!

My name is Kelly and I'm relatively new to SparkPeople, but I am loving the site so far. I just joined this group because I thought it would be nice to have people to talk about swimming with. I don't know very many swimmers where I live (Boston).

Unfortunately, after swimming 90 laps last night, one of my arms is really hurting and a couple of people have suggested tendonitis! I've been swimming for years and have never had any injuries, so hopefully with some rest I'll be back in the pool soon.

In the meantime, I look forward to chatting with you all about swimming, and joining in on the challenge once I can swim again.

Kelly
