Swam 1200 yards this morning. I'm joint this group and will keep track of my total. Doesn't seem to be too many people doing this challenge anymore...

Another half a mile-the pool was very crowded, so I had to walk laps till a swim lane opened up. That leaves 15.25.

Sorry, that leaves 15.75. I haven't been to the pool this week because I ended up in the hospital again with them having to use shock paddles to stop the tachycardia. They tried drugs by IV 3 times. So I have been ordered to cut all non essential activities and rest.

I'm behind in posting. I swam Wednesday, Friday, and last Sunday for 2.5 more miles. I would have done 3 except that the manager was there on Sunday and was concerned that I was doing too much. He doesn't speak English but essentially ordered me to stop swimming and walk in the walk lanes, then told me I could do the hot tub, but I don't do hot tubs.

1 more mile-that leaves 18.25. I had a workshop today and will be off island tomorrow until after the pool closes so it will be Monday before I am back in the pool.

Glad to see you are back. The holidays can do that to a person. If I had not been in the hospital for half of our break eating Japanese food-breakfast, lunch and dinner; I am sure I would have racked up some as well. I have never had miso soup for breakfast before! I forgot to post my remainder=19.25. So, you are way ahead of me percentage wise. Hope to catch up soon.

Hey no problem! :) I'm just glad you're feeling better. I've been MIA for not nearly as good reasons. I've just been plain unmotivated, I managed to gain about 7lbs over christmas. :*( But on the upside I actually have some meters to rack up too :) :) :) I went to the pool twice last week and then again today last weeks totals 2150x2 = 4300 today i was lazy and only did 4 sets instead of 4 1/2 sets instead of 5 = 1800. For a grand total of 6100.

Fire Sprite-I had my cardiac ablation 12/22, swam 12/27, 12/29, 12/30, and returned to my job yesterday. Sorry MIA for so long. My swims totalled 2.75 miles. I plan to swim again tomorrow, but the indoor pool closed 12/28-1/4; the outdoor pool doesn't close, but it was in the upper 30s F, So...

The cardiologist thinks I may need ablation, but his hospital does not do that surgery. He does not accept echo cardiograms unless they were done at his hospital, so I am scheduled to have that repeated at his hospital tomorrow. If he agrees with the other doctor, he will refer me to a third hospital that does do that procedure.

I'm so sorry to hear about your heart. Remember to keep an eye out for bruising/changes :)(I'm sure you've heard it a Million times) sorry. About the awol thing - no worries - I'm currently taking my once a month hiatus from all things exercise. Although with this much bloating, I could just....float.

Hi, I have been awol as well. I was in the hospital again with my heart. I am now on rat poison and a heart rate reducer. It makes me very tired. I did get in another hour last week, but hurt my shoulder-so I am grounded for a week.

Well the first typhoon was a 3, but hit with the most force at the north end of the island. Our end got high winds, but no structural damage. A church camp and a military recreation area both sustained significant damage and lost power for several days. The second typhoon diverted and did not hit us-we just got lots of rain and heavy winds, so my potted plants (even my plumeria tree that was in bloom) got to come into my LR. Sorry late posting, I got in another 1600 meters Sunday, that leaves 22 miles.

Wow, you are a much more rounded swimmer than I. I only do free style. I can do breast stroke, but back stroke is difficult in a 20 meter pool with more than one lane mate. Hope you are ok following your ER visit. I have had car problems the last 3 days-dead battery twice. I guess the car only wants the engine running-no wipers, no fan. I planned to swim today, but aside from the car we are under TC1 conditions. A typhoon is supposed to hit the island around 6 pm tonight.

Ok, I have conquered a broken car ($400) a non exercise happy work schedule and one visit to the ER. :( Along with an entire week of doing almost nothing. I made it to the pool today!! yippee! So: 1 warm up crawl - 50y 4 sets of: breast stroke - 100y side stroke - 100y crawl - 100y breast stroke 100y Total of 400 x 4= 1600y Today's Total being 1650y So what's the conversion rate again?

I'm so sorry to hear about your back, somtimes those can be the worst to get over becuase we can't help but use the injured area. Thank you for your willingness to go another round, and as for the time, I'm good when you are, I'm actually working on a 7 day on, 7 day off schedule where - while I'm working- I won't have access to a pool either. :( I think every town should have at least 1 pool. Thanks again, and I hope you feel better.

I thought I lost this thread when I went to the States for the summer, but I guess I was the last to post. Here are my very late posts. 7/27=1.2 mi;8/6-8/30=6.6 miles;9/5-9/30=13.9 miles; 10/1-10/31=10.3 miles I guess that also means that I overshot the Amazon River by 30.2 miles-oh well, that's what I get for posting so late!
Mary
I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Sorry, I copied from the line below the posting area. I guess I should have scrolled lower. Gomenasai! My freestyle is the same speed as the younger swimmer's breaststroke at the pool. I do sometimes do breaststroke if I am behind a slower swimmer. Our pool is very small 20M, and there are sometimes 3-4 per lane. We have 2 lap lanes, 2 walk lanes, and an instructional area. The pool is uniformly chest high, except for half of the instructional area where they have dragged 4 of the poolside benches to make a shallower area for kids.
Mary
I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
mary, i think a good way of challenging your body might be to "spike" your swimming workouts by adding in high intensity intervals, or by alternating one day of freestyle and one day of breaststroke. breaststroke is much slower than freestyle, but it uses different muscle groups and requires harder work from your body.
oh, btw, i am bine, aldana is our MIA original leader, i took over a while ago to keep the team going, since she wanted to leave open the possibility to return in the future. i'm doing my best to keep this team going! swim on!

Yes Aldana, but I think that my body got used to swimming an hour every night. So, even though I was trying to eat healthy, I would have long plateaus between each pound. When I did the Bootcamp challenge with my daughter, I lost 7K (15 lbs.), but then it tapered to a pound here, a pound there. So, I have signed up for another challenge and have lost 2 lbs this week (but I also swam all 7 days for 55 min-hr.) Summer's coming, so the time output will not be so bad. 6/6-1 mile freestyle 17.1 miles left
Mary
I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
mary, i think it's a nice thing that with swimming your speed doesn't really matter as much as that you keep challenging your body. i think an hour (almost) every night is totally awesome!

Well, I am not known for my speed-only the distance!:) I try to swim for an hour every night, since I need to rev my metabolism up to hopefully drop more pounds. At my age, I'm sort of like a VW with my food mileage. 6/4-.9 mile, 6/5-1.0 mile 18.1 miles left
