Hi there,
I'm new to the team. I was recently told to exclude all high-impact activity from my training program, due to a knee problem. The next obvious choice for a good workout is swimming and we have a local challenge which I've decided to participate in.
The Elite Swimming Challenge is a series of 10 open water swims of 1 mile each - the purpose is to promote open water swimming, and your progress is monitored by the local Swim Society. You have to complete each swim within 56 mins, which is pretty slow I think, and you must complete 8 of the 10 to be eligible for a scroll of recognition.
This is a bit different to the challenges posted here, but I think it's a great one for me to try out and I was wondering if anyone out there is thinking of something similar?
My plan is to get myself up to 60 mins of swimming first, and then work on my distance so that I can meet the time trial. The challenge kicks off in October, with the start of our summer and I hope I have time to get fit enough!
Would love to hear some thoughts/comments/suggestions...
