It was such a good feeling to be part of the FTA hike at Lake Kissimmee State Park. One of our members went to Gainesville to borrow the TrailRider. That is a device that makes it possible for disabled and even paralyzed people to be taken out into the woods. I led the hike which included pre-hiking and setting the path. Another member was other point person with the TrailRider. The Office of Greenways is doing an article on the TrailRider. One of our members took pictures of our event for that article. Many people on the hike traded off the front "Sherpa" position in front of the TrailRider. We took Teresa, who used to be a very active, vital person until stricken with ALS. She led hikes, kayak, and bike trips as well as organized many camping trips. She was also the newsletter for our Chapter for more years than any of us know. Mostly, it was a feel good moment.

Remember that I have to do all of our Christmas things plus get ready to have hip replacement surgery. Therefore, due to all kinds of limitations, I have had to spread things out and budget my time. That meant that I had to shop and finish my cards early. I have to have a whole bunch of pre-op tests within the next ten to twelve days! That means my time will be at a premium! Not fun!

My exercise streak is 156 weeks in a row or THREE YEARS! There have been some weeks that it was a struggle but I have been determined not to lose my streak. I'm over 65 (getting way over) and know my health can change quickly (one fall and you can down for awhile). I feel that whenever something happens that I lose my streak, I doubt I'll be able to get one this long again. Each week of the streak I had an at least four exercise sessions with at least 30 minutes per session. emoticon emoticon

My weight hit a current new low this week. emoticon emoticon My diet has been consistent since February with some notable exceptions. One of them was this past weekend when I went to a Florida Trail Skills Workshop weekend. They fed us AND the food was so not on my diet & didn't taste that great either. Luckily I wasn't paying for the session. At least I got some great exercise, learned some great stuff, and met some great people.

My weight is at a good point. I do need to lose some fat around my middle. If I can tone up my thighs and arms, the weight loss will look better. Lost the weight but my skin didn't shrink. Didn't expect it to but it makes me not crazy about my look in the mirror with shorts. Living in Florida, if I don't want to get overheated, it will be shorts. Oh, well. emoticon
