Working with book, "Mini Habits: Smaller Habits, Bigger Result" by Stephen Guise. I've got three "habits" I'm trying to develop and already have over two weeks. (Tracking with SparkPeople, an Android App, and stars on a calendar.) Have a reward chosen for four weeks. After starting and maintaining my exercise streak (now at 216 weeks), I am confident of being able to stay with the mini habits.

My knees don't like certain things (like steps) so one of my mini habits are a short routine of knee stretches. I'm trying to develop mindfulness, so another of my mini habits is a minimum of five minutes of meditation. The final mini habit I'm working on right now is writing an entry in my Gratitude Journal. I bought my journal in 1998. I thought I was only using for that year. Instead, I use small post-its to add additional year entries. It has been hit or miss for me to use it but I love looking over previous entries. The journal I'm using is, "The Simple Abundance Journal of Gratitude" by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Starting Jan 1st. I'm going to add a fourth mini habit. It will be to get rid of a minimum of one item each day.

Exercise streak is now over four years. Plan to join a fitness club for reward. There are strong rumors that Gold's Gym will be opening at a convenient location. I'm waiting a bit to see if that happens.

It was such a good feeling to be part of the FTA hike at Lake Kissimmee State Park. One of our members went to Gainesville to borrow the TrailRider. That is a device that makes it possible for disabled and even paralyzed people to be taken out into the woods. I led the hike which included pre-hiking and setting the path. Another member was other point person with the TrailRider. The Office of Greenways is doing an article on the TrailRider. One of our members took pictures of our event for that article. Many people on the hike traded off the front "Sherpa" position in front of the TrailRider. We took Teresa, who used to be a very active, vital person until stricken with ALS. She led hikes, kayak, and bike trips as well as organized many camping trips. She was also the newsletter for our Chapter for more years than any of us know. Mostly, it was a feel good moment.
