JEAN- Have a great time at the Quilters Show!!!

Have been REALLY busy AND the Ace store wants me to work more hours this coming week. May have to miss a couple of Tai Chi classes to make some $$$. We'll see.

Have to go unload some firewood for tonight's cold Trick or Treaters.

BBL,

Ralph

Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young 'pullets,' and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs.

He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.

This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters.

Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing.

Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.

Fred's favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all!

When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the

roosters coming, would run for cover.

To Fred's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring.

He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.

Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the Brisbane City Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention.

Great to hear from you Barb. It's a good news bad news post in that Roger still has problems and that your blood pressure is out of whack. But having your blood sugar in control, is wonderful. I also feel you prove that exercise is very helpful for many ailments, and the more you do, the more energy you have to do it.

Great news on the new dish and receivers, and your subscription costs remain the same, too.

Hello all,
I just want you all to know that Roger and I are still among the living, I have been going to many doctor's appointments because of some problems with my blood pressure, but my blood sugar has been doing great. Roger still is having problems with diarrhea.

We just got a new dish and two receivers put in for free. The person that Roger talked to
said that our old dish and the receivers was out dated and eventually we wouldn't be able to watch any tv. I have to figure out how to put my DVD'S in because I have been doing Leslie Sansone 4 mile walk and been doing well, so I'm anxious to get started again. I go for my exercise classes the two days out of the week, which I really love doing.

Well I got to scoot out of here and get busy. You all take care.

Big emoticon all around,
Barb1

Get well again. Joe's cold hung on terribly, too. He's a bit better.

Alice
Sorry your back is painful, and your ankle, too. Not fair.

Angela
Hope your health improves in sunny Florida.

Today is friends, a quilt party this afternoon, and the quilt show tonight. Lots of fun and smiles. Looking forward to a ton of fun.

Walking will be in the background, but not my focus today. Kiwi and Rudy had a good walk this morning, but I'm not heading to the mall. Need to get ready for fun.

Gorgeous weather here. Low 70's, no wind, no rain.

Hi all, As you know I have been sick. At least the doctor says it is just a bad cold. I have mainly been sleeping and taking plenty of fluids and cold medicine. I have been missing some of the best weather since this summer but I just have not felt like getting out. I am feeling more human today They were talking that it would be the last of these beautiful days so Leon and I got out and rode the bus to his pharmacy and then on to Walmart for the drugs that I am out of. After walking to the bus stop and then all over the store I don't think I could have done more. So I will head for bed and hopefully fell like turn on the computer again tomorrow. Goodnight.

Morning everyone!

Not sitting at computer for long as I strained my back on Sunday and I'm still suffering. Ironically I got more steps in yesterday than normal because I couldn't sit down!

They say every cloud has a silver lining but I could quite honestly do without this one!

Have a good week - we're off to Davenport again to finish off the DIY before guests arrive on Thursday. No lifting for me this trip though!

Wishing you the finest 150 ever. May your goal be reachable, and give you new enthusiasm to be your best self.

Rudy arrives today.

Kiwi is bathed. His sleep bedding and day bed are all thoroughly washed and pretty. He's all set for company. Such an exciting time for these two little guys.

Our temps are cool, still in the 60's, but we'll warm up this afternoon. Terrific weather promised for our darling treat or treaters. I'll miss it all bc I'll be at the quilt show. Joe and the dogs will have fun.

Gotta get my day together.
Still more sprucing up to be done before Charlotte arrives with Rudy.

Our own kids were raised to pay their own way. I don't understand how my son allows his daughter and son-in-law to take such awful advantage of them. His wife is beside herself wanting to just kick them out, but he doesn't have the heart to force them out. I'm afraid they know his laid back approach to life won't force them to follow through on the promises they made when they moved in. Number one to quickly find employment, and number two to live according to house rules.

Sherry
Our garage is not insulated either, so it gets hot and chilly according to the seasons. The old upright refrigerator/freezer out there mainly holds beverages. It is self defrosting, but doesn't even freeze that well. Not trustworthy at all. The fridge fan doesn't circulate the cool, so just the bottom shelves are decently chilled in the summer. It's convenient for cases of V-8, or bottled water. Otherwise useless.

Be productive today.. I'm doing laundry, and sprucing up the place. Rudy arrives tomorrow to stay with Kiwi for a few days during the quilt show. Two little fur brothers will be in doggie bliss.

My larger downstairs freezer will get ice, and I do that job when I can put bags of frozen food in garage. Garage not headed, obviously. It makes a good freezer on its own, lol. I don't have to defrost it either!

Good morning peeps from a sunny Southend on Sea. Today I decided to get back on the wagon and made a good start eating the cardboard crisp bread instead of toast with lots of butter, then its into my walking gear and pop Leslie in, 5 minutes later I literally fell over my own feet and my ankle is {{{{{hurting}}} like crazy. Oh well will wrap it up and try again tomorrow.

LOLA I hope you do check in again, its HARD getting back into it, I understand that mode your in and the legs that wont let you sleep.
I really do hope you feel more like your old self again soon emoticon

SHERRY JUST 10k JUST!!!!! I do envy you girl

JEAN Hope the problems calm down soon, even if its not your problems and you JUST listen, it makes you feel as if they are your problems in the end...still what else can you do a!

I'm up in the middle of the night and have been reading the Chatterbox for the past hour. I'll never get to the bottom of it ..... I miss being on here and have to make it a priority again to check in with my many dear friends. I have not been using the computer much lately and have seemed to retreat into my quiet little world for a while.

I've gone through an 'anything goes' 'doesn't matter' and 'why bother' mode lately. Maybe it's the change in the weather and closing up back in the house again.

I've started physical therapy on my legs and they are feeling so much better. I'm up tonight with restless legs which just won't let me stay in bed. Kick, move, stretch, wiggle, turn ... easier to just get up and walk around for a while.

It breaks my heart to read of such angst in our families. It is so hard to know when the tender mercies that we offer are of a benefit or are just enabling someone to continue to mess up their own lives. These certainly are days of some people feeling they are entitled to things at the expense of others.

My migraine is getting worse - better close down and try to go back to bed for a bit. Hope the legs will lay in one place.

Today is a good day to have a good day.

SUE, no one can change how you feel, but I do agree with what JEAN said, and I feel the mother who raised you, is your real mother. I know Donna2 feels strongly that the woman who raised her is her mother. But again, we would all feel differently in your situation. i hope you are comfortable staying home.

Walked just 10k today, but it was 6 hours driving to do it! Some club members are very specific about the walks they need to complete challenges. I just go along for the ride!

How very sad for you. The joy is that someone took you in and cared for you. Count that as a beautiful blessing.

Ralph
I know we all have our own set of problems to deal with. Thank you for understanding this is not a cake walk, or something Joe and I can step in and fix.

I feel so bad for my emotionally unstable DIL, but there is little I can do except listen to her. We spoke very briefly yesterday and she told me my son did speak with the young people again. Not sure how much good it will do. DIL is relatively calm on the weekends bc my son does not work Saturday or Sunday. She cannot work (medical disability for her nerves) and he is the produce manager at a WalMart, so they can ill afford ungrateful, unmotivated free loaders.

Our cool weather is still around. So very appreciated.

Sunday blessings wished for all of you.

Heard that my birth mother died yesterday. She gave me to my dad when I was 4, gave a younger sister to her sister to be adopted as a baby. Kept her last 4 children. Not one of them told us, we found out from a post on fb. We had tried more than once to have a relationship with her, but she wasn't interested. We will not go to the funeral, whenever it is, as we are not welcome, they prefer to think we don't exist. She wouldn't want us there either. Strange how we are both hurt and upset, even though we know we couldn't have done any more. At least we found each other, even if it was only 5 yrs ago

DELORES, I am pleased you went to the doctor, you have been so tired lately, I was thinking your cold might be affecting your lungs. Lots of rest, plenty of fluids, call me in the morning :-)

Early start for me, day road trip with walking buddies, gonna be quite cold too. There will be 4 of us, so lots of chit chat to pass the time. Enjoy your day, whatever you do.

Hi all, I have been fighting a bad cold that kept getting worse. Yesterday I went to the doctor and he checked me over and agreed that it is a cold and keep doing what I have been doing. I hope I can sleep tonight so I'm taking Niquil. I hope to go to church tomorrow. Goodnight for now.

Yes, it can work. These two have flagrantly broken two vital home rules, and have no regrets. They moved in bc they each walked off their jobs, got into deep debt, and lost their apartment. To so totally break House Rules is unimaginable to me. Texas has hiring signs all over the place, but no, they cannot find work bc they don't want to work (in my opinion.) They are 22 yrs and 24 yrs, so able to work hard and save for their future. I hope my son can sort them out. They honestly do not listen to my DIL, and even mock her. She's been emotionally unstable for years, but to use that against her is unthinkable.

Gorgeous weather here. Cooler weather forecast, too. Yippee!!

Good morning one and all, been up doing web master club for my club, honestly wonder if I will ever learn how it all works. We have a walk and pot luck, so a ground beef meal is in the slow cooker.
Let's all be quiet for ALICE.
JEAN, I truly don't understand when kids live at home and don't pay their way. I guess it has to be experienced to understand. I have 2 grandkids living at home, but working, and each pay $600 for room and board, a fraction of what it would cost them to move out. But they also have "MOM's" house rules too.
RALPH, you feeling 65? Missed having a birthday party for you here, rats! Many more birthdays to come!

Very funny, but probably has more than a grain of truth in it. Texans do LOVE their trucks. Many households have at least one truck or the driveway or garage. Lots of gals own and drive them, too.

My needy DIL called this morning and wanted to talk. So I picked her up and drove to the Water Way where we could walk and talk privately. Spent four hours with her. Lots of tears on her part. She seemed to be doing so much better, but their daughter got married and moved in.. It has not been a good situation. Mostly I just let her vent. My son called my DH tonight about something else, but asked Joe to Thank me for taking so much time with MaryAnn. My Joe would have kicked those two inconsiderate unemployed young people out, except they're broke and have no where to go. That just exacerbates the situation. So many promises were made before the young folks moved in, but none of the house rules are being followed. They've brought pot and vodka into the home, when my son and DIL neither drink nor smoke. Don't know how they get the funds for that poison when they're broke. Extremely sad and troubling situation.

I had good walks today, and hope my listening did some good.

Texas - What Happens When A Wife Goes Missing ...

A husband went to the sheriff's department to report that his wife was missing:

Husband - I've lost my wife. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home.

Sergeant - What is her height?

Husband - Gee , I really never noticed. Maybe about five feet tall.

Sergeant - Build?

Husband - Not slim, not really fat.

Sergeant - Color of eyes?

Husband - Never noticed.

Sergeant - Color of hair?

Husband - Changes a couple times a year . .. . maybe red.

Sergeant - What was she wearing?

Husband - Could have been a skirt or shorts. I don’t remember exactly.

Sergeant - Did she go in a car?

Husband - No, she went in my truck.

Sergeant - What kind of truck was it?

Husband - Brand new Ford F150 with Eco -boost V6 engine special ordered with manual transmission, four-wheel drive, tinted windows, custom matching white cover for the bed, special alloy wheels and off road Michelin's. Wife put a small scratch on the drivers door.

At this point the husband started tearing up and almost cried.

Sergeant - Don't worry, Bubba ..... We’ll find your truck.

Good morning everyone, Friday already!
Walking early this am to visit David and get pointers with my Samsung phone. BIG step for this gal, as my other phone was from my DD many years ago. This new one is wifi enabled, so as long as I just use free wifi, I can stick to my extremely inexpensive cell phone plan. At least, that the idea!
He is also leaving for AZ till spring and I am house watcher while he is gone. I should repaint it when he is gone, pink maybe. emoticon
There's frost on the roof across the street, my morning walk will be a bit chilly maybe. Well, better get used to that.
Enjoy your day!

Hi all, I was still quite tired yesterday. I did get to the party that our Senior group at church. Most of us dressed up in costumes. Some were quite unique. Our hostess had the best one. She was Fred Astair on one side of her body and Ginger Rogers. One lady had a tee shirt with ceiling on it and had pompoms that she twirled around--not a cheerleader but a ceiling fan! One had a baseball cap and had a leaf hanging in her face--a leaf blower. I put on my new pink cowboy hat and was a pink cowgirl. I put a cowboy hat and a flannel shirt on Leon and he was a cowboy. Neither one was very unique.

That evening I went to our Bible study but we were doing service projects instead of studying. We wrote cards to all the students from our church who are now in college and in need of encouragement. We also wrote some cards for soldiers who are overseas since a local grocery is collecting them to mail to them around thanksgiving.

By the time I got home I was too tired to do anything but go to bed.

Today we wanted to do laundry so we went to the store to get laundry detergent just in case we needed it. We had just enough in the old bottle to do all the wash. We finished that and walked down to the duck pond to feed the ducks. I had invited my friend Bob to come to dinner since I had a nice frozen enchilada meal to put in the oven. He said he would bring some things too. He brought some bread sticks and pizza rolls. A lot of carbs so I ate only a little of it. He really put the food away and enjoyed himself and I enjoyed his company.

This evening I watched the Thursday night football games and the Broncos won. That was nice since I was rooting for them. My favorite quarterback has moved to Denver and Peyton Manning had beat Bret Farve's passing touchdown record. Well anyway I will head for bed now. Goodnight.

When I increase my calories for a day or so, it seems to help the pounds come down again. Perhaps you are not eating enough. Not sure. Keep at it. I stabilized for a long long time before I started the slow decline again. I am steady at 119 now, but would love to see 115. That's my ultimate goal. I feel good, and that's super important. Still have a tummy, but I only walk for exercise without AB exercises, so my tummy may stay with me.

Ants. I do so hate any kind of insect that takes over my peace of mind. We have an abundance of little spiders in here. I kill them when I discover their webs, or see them. Haven't had an exterminator in years. Roaches are not a problem. Those give me the heebie jeebies.

Had a great mall walk with a mall friend this morning. Hit my 11,000 already. Yeah!!

DIL Delores and I worked on our burlap crafts last night. I need to finish mine up with a glue gun, but basically it's done. Burlap is the theme for our Quilt Festival Soiree next Wednesday at 1:30p. Silly little gift exchange will be fun.

Take care all. I am knitting on my second sock of the pair I started last week. Coming along nicely.

What an enjoyable conversation this morning. The key word today is "bugger". Just make me giggle!
You may have heard of the killing of an unarmed soldier at Canada's National Memorial in Ottawa. The cenotaph is a massive reminder of 2 world wars and also a bronze casket with maple leaves on it, in various conditions of decomposition. "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" It's very symbolic of the deaths war has caused and still causing. It holds the remains of an unknown soldier killed in Europe. I have been here, you can literally feel the electricity in the air when your mind grasps the scene. The gunman eventually killed. It's been a sad week for the military.
ANGELA, you and me both on the slow but sure downward trend with the scales. Time for me to change my ticker, doctor appt today, hoping my blood sugar and cholesterol numbers follow the scale drop since my last visit. Lab results next week likely as it is Thursday already.
I miss going to the intimate little theatres. When DD Kathy was early teenager she was very prominent in a theatre group, getting many great reviews for her singing voice. Allow me to burst my buttons here.."with the true soprano voice of Bernedette Peters." Now with my hearing so bad, it's not an option I choose. Good news though, I believe they now have hearing aids with Bluetooth and they will link to the sound system. Soon as we pay off the furnace....lol!
Norma, I was thinking more for you, grin, on a fitbit. You like keeping statistics and Fitbit links to the computer and keeps all your stats daily for you. You would love that. How about asking family to all chip in and pay for a Fitbit for you. It is also the perfect reward for 7 years of persistence with your weight loss.

Norma hope your ants are gone soon. They can be very persistent little buggers!

Donna, your day sounds great have fun!

We went to see a play by the Charlotte Players last week. It's an amateur dramatic group in a very intimate little playhouse but the quality of the acting was superb. The Cemetery Club was about three Jewish ladies who's husbands had passed and they visited the cemetery together every month. The things they got up to - it was hilarious and at the end a little sad but we thoroughly enjoyed it and will return for future productions.

Today I made my mini target of 165lbs. Yay!! Speaking of which I must go change my ticker and add my new target. I'm taking baby steps because I get depressed by big ones I can't seem to achieve within a reasonable time frame.

Have a lovely day friends.
