Here's the link for the Fitbit Flex jewelry bracelet.

Very attractive. Wow! If the Flex tracked stairs, I might consider it next time.

Kiwi's morning walk was cool. I didn't grab a sweater, so felt the chill. I carried a jacket to church for the AC, but never needed it. The crisp autumn weather feels great.

I am really looking forward to the Houston International Quilt Show. I'll look at fabric (of course), patterns, yarn and beads - - - All under one roof, so much fun. I love seeing samples all made up. That does entice me to buy if I think I can handle the challenge. So many wonderful quilting friends will be there. My DIL and I will cruise together plus we're meeting up with our Girl Friend Sew group, and friends from Canyon Lake. We'll be whacked out before the show ends. Hopefully I'll keep long range goals in mind, and not go off the deep end spending on goodies. I was careful last year, so think I can do it again.

Good morning.

Lovely day here but on the cool side. I am off to church in a few minutes. We are having a brunch which is a fund raiser.

I saw a gorgeous gold plated bracelet advertised somewhere on the internet that surrounds the Fitbit Flex turning it into a piece of jewelry. Over $200.00, but truly attractive for a professional who wants to wear it to meetings and consultations. I don't remember the bracelet company. I love bracelets, but don't have a Fitbit Flex. I wonder if your daughter has seen the beautiful bracelet idea.

Norma,

Mine is a fitbit one as well but my daughter chose the flex as she liked wearing it on her wrist instead of clipping it on. When we walk together she gets more steps in than I do and I reckon it should be the other way round since she is taller than me. I checked mine a few times after I first bought it by counting the steps I took and it seemed pretty accurate.

Checking steps does get quite addictive. On Thursday one of our daughters challenged me and our other daughter to a days high step record and I won it. Any other day it would have been one of them who won but Thursday we took the morning off and walked and cycled on Gasparilla Island so I clocked over 17,000 steps and that was before I knew about the challenge. As soon as I synced my fitbit I overtook them both!

It is great fun encouraging each other to get off out butt and move.

I cannot tell you how many pedometers I went through before I finally got a Fitbit. This one is a keeper, and I love it. BestBuy carries them, or Amazon, or purchase directly from the Fitbit site. Angela and Sherry both wear a Fitbit, too. Sherry and I wear the Fitbit One, but there are several models to choose from. They are accurate, and sync to SparkPeople - - - a nice feature.

Great exercise even if you didn't get steps rowing your canoe. Nature is so thrilling up close. Great experience.

Kiwi and I had a short walk after breakfast. As long as I don't pull him too far, he goes along with a nice walk. Such a reluctant little guy, not brave enough to take longer journeys some mornings.

We ran errands this morning; I walked the mall, and we strolled through an outdoor art fair. Wonderful weather for being outside. I have 8,000 steps, but will easily reach my 10,000 goal by nightfall. Because I'm not walking my extreme amount now, I've gained a couple of pounds. Need to step up the pace again.

Hugs always.

Happy Saturday!

We started our day with a 3 hour canoe trip down the Myakka river to Tippeecanoe bay where we sat just feet from an Osprey. Awesome!

Have a lovely day.

Good to keep your options open. Your party sounds delightful.

Delores
Always good to meet new folks who can become a part of your neighborhood lives. We have great neighbors here. We've lived in our house for 33 years now, and have come to know and appreciate others who share our street. Friends keep us grounded. A warm church family helps in all ways possible.

We had a lovely visit with DIL and son last night. She bought me a Hawaiian tee shirt and tickets to the quilt show - - - my thank you for keeping Bella. Yeah!! I look forward to Houston's International Quilt Festival every year. We'll travel together and shop our hearts out. Some of our friends from Girl Friend Sew meetings are staying in the hotel physically connected to the festival for two nights during the show. DIL Delores and I won't join them. We thought about it and decided to spend our money on other things.

Our friend from Canyon Lake, Charlotte (Rudy's owner), is coming to Houston for the quilt festival. We'll keep Rudy for her while she stays with another dear friend for the weekend. Delores and I will join those ladies for a quilt party before preview night. Their preview party is traditional. I attended a few years back, but it's a long drive across town so didn't keep going. They're great friends and I'll love being with them again. Charlotte and I introduced Delores to the group at festival last year and Julie invited Delores to join their group for the preview party this year. DIL Delores is driving. Yeah!!

Saturday. Love it. Got to get busy now. Sun is up, breakfast over, and Kiwi is waiting for his first walk.

Hugs

JEAN Thanks for that info I think in your case I would have had the injection, the Doctor did say I could still look at this option in the future, so I will wait and see what occurs.
I had that cortisone injection in my wrist and like you I sang its praises, my wrist has been fine for 2 years now.

Lovely sunny day here, washing blowing on the line, Steve mowing the grass and friends coming this evening for an Indian takeaway, so all well in my little world.

Hi all, busy day again today. We went to Walmart this morning. We got there at lunch time and went over to Subway and I bought us each a six inch sub. Then while Leon ate I went to the hair salon to get my hair cut. After that was done I ate my sandwich then shopped for a few things. I needed a gift for my secret sister at church.

We later went to the library to return a book I forgot to return yesterday. Then we had a small party to go to that they called an open house down the block. People from our building planned this party so we could get to know each other. We only stayed for the first hour and met 6 or 7 people but it was a start.

I'm now going to bed because I have football to watch tomorrow and a birthday party for my BIL's 80th birthday party following church on Sunday. Goodnight

I have a ruptured disc in my spine. I had a cortisone injection in the spine above and below the disc where the damage is. It was miraculous. My pain has been gone for 18 months now. Do look at the complications as explained to you. I sailed through it just fine. The spine doctor said it works in 90% of cases, but not all. I am so grateful it worked for me. I hope you find relief. Hugs

I taught school first period this morning, but have a break. Take care everyone.

Good morning peeps just walked to shops and back, nice to poodle along with the sun on you instead of fighting with an umbrella.

The consultant rung me this morning and he has conferred with another consultant (smile) and an alternative for me is to have an injection in my spine, they do not knock you out and there could be complications, I have opted to stay on the tablets with a view to increasing the dosage if the pain in my legs gets worse.
At least now (after fighting with the Doctor who said I had rheumatism) I have a name for the pain...damaged nerve ends...and know I had a choice to correct it. END OF SAGA

Hi all, I just lost a nice post. Oh well. My friend Bob and I were trying to get together today. We finally ended up meeting at the library. He walked with us to the store and helped us carry the stuff home. I then fed him dinner and he hurried off to his meeting.

Leon and I watched the football game and now I am heading to bed since Leon fell asleep at halftime.
Goodnight

Joe went to see his doctor on Tuesday. He got up long enough to eat some breakfast and returned to bed. I made the appointment while he slept, and told him, "This has gone on long enough!!!" [over two whole weeks] He went alone to the doctors, didn't want me to go. We picked up a prescribed antibiotic for him that evening. He is still sleeping a great deal. The doctor ruled out pneumonia and bronchitis. Wants to see him again for his regular check up and give him a flu shot when he is well. I am reassured, but still concerned that he couldn't throw off this cold. He'd get "better" a day or so, and it would return with a vengeance. Still sniffling.

My American Sewing Guild meeting was hysterical. Lots of fun. We had show and tell first - - - I took my three autumn themed table runners. Then we bought silk scarves, and a special colored tissue We wet the scarves and put the colored paper bits all around the scarf; rolled it up; and let it set. We had protected the tables with garbage bags, so the dye did not do any damage to the JoAnn Fabric store classroom where we meet

When I brought my dyed scarves home, I rolled them in paper towels before hanging them up to dry. I have to wait 48 hours before ironing to heat set the dyes. Mine are pretty. I dyed three scarves and one wide long one - - - more like a shawl.

I received my certificate for completing all 64 Volkssport walks in Alberta last evening at our board meeting, presented here by my walking buddy David, also president of the Alberta Volkssport Association.
This coming year will see 3 more walks added to Alberta's list of fabulous walks. I am truly privileged to have been able to complete all these walks. emoticon

Jean, Joe seems to be holding on to that 'cold' way too long. Has he seen a doctor? He's a bit invincible, I know. Grin. Perhaps his meds are doctor prescribed. Pneumonia was my concern, actually.

I hope Terry is moving around better with his cane. I knew he left a long time ago, but August 8th. Whew! That's a long time. I trust his sister is doing all right. It must be hard for him to leave her when he felt needed there.

Bless you two as you adjust to being together again.

Joe is somewhat better, but still has a long road to travel. He is taking his meds and sleeping a lot, so that should help.

I'm off for an American Sewing Guild meeting. We dying scarves today and should be a riot of fun.

Sue
Sorry your Mom is so ill. Bless you for helping out your Dad. This has to be a hard time for all of you.

Norma
Wow!! A year early with your cards. Whew!! Joe does ours, so I am not involved except for a few friends that are just mine and not ours. He writes them as they come in. So if we don't get a card, he doesn't send one out except to relatives that stay on the list forever.

Mani
Please let us hear from you.

Ginna
Where are you?

Ralph
We miss you.

Lola
Glad your trip was fun. Hope to hear a bit about it.

SUE, I am sorry to hear that you're Mom is not well. At first I wondered if she had a stroke, but if the doctor has been, he would have seen that. How very stressful for everyone, but my concern is you. You will be in my thoughts till we hear again. Hugs to you.

I also keep thinking of Mani. There is some vicious weather happening in India. I thought the storms were on the east side of India, she's on the west side, but the way things are going weather wise, i was thinking of her also.

Stitches out, still told to refrain from heavy exercise, lifting or forward arm movements. The doctor was so impressed the bandage remained untouched, kept saying it was awesome, among the best he had seen. I knew they did not want it touched, I guess it's very important for healing. Anyway, its covered up again with some polysporin and a light bandage. I'll get Terry to help me now, he's home tonight. Not to mention I'd like to see what he did!

A quick pop in, as I am spending time at the parents. Mum is not well and to be honest yesterday I thought we may lose her, not only was she very confused, she slept differently if that makes sense. If we spoke to her.....when we could get her to respond at all......she was more or less just repeating what we said. Also she only ate 1/2 slice of bread with a little bit of a boiled egg. She seemed a bit better last night, the doctor said nothing he can treat, so don't know if it is just a blip with her alzheimers or if it is more.
So going back over there each day for a few days, more for support for dad than anything. If she will be like this more often, he may have to think if he can keep her at home.
Be back when I can

Hi all, We had a pretty good day today. We walked to my group meeting at 1 pm and then grabbed lunch at Burger King. I later went to my Bible study at my church. We finished the study of the women in Jesus' linage. When I got back home I reheated leftovers for dinner. Having lunch as the big meal of the day may be an answer to my snacking later in the evenings.

IRENE, I know where you are coming from. Taking care of an ill husband is a frustrating and tiring job. Keep finding time for yourself and keep watch over your husband. I'm praying for both of you.

Well I will now say goodnight.

Good Morning. I have been here, trying to post, losing them and walking away in disgust!

Add to that, apparently my Spark Mails are sending multiply times, the same spark mail. How annoying is that!!! Sorry if that is happening to you. I don't see any other complaints going to the Help desk, and I am pretty sure I do not have a trigger finger and sending it out multiple times.

Life's little annoyances!. I am thinking most of my issues are happening with the Mini, not the lap top. I know the lost posts are "mini" related, so I will be experimenting with my Spark Mail using the computer to see if it is only the Mini giving me fits. Be sure to let me know if you get multiple emails from me that all say the same thing. If I have to go to Tech Site, I will need documentation.

Today I get my sutures out. They are still covered with a bandage, have no idea what is under there, but there has been no problems associated with it, so I have to assume all is well. I will know soon enough. If I need to have the site treated after today, I will at least have Terry around to do it. I pick him up tomorrow at the airport. I had him send me a picture of himself so I would know what he looks like. :-) Gosh, he left August 8th.

Washed windows in and out yesterday. The world looks pretty good from in here now!
All those bags of leaves have been taken to the Compost Yard, and most of my trees are bare of leaves. I have one tree in the back that holds its leaves forever. They will turn a dirty yellow late in the fall, and just hang on there. I hope when they do come off, the wind is blowing into my neighbors yard. emoticon

Good morning all!

We're back from more work at our Davenport villa. Cable and wifi has been such a nightmare to get repaired and they're not finished yet. They have to come back and bury the cable while trying to avoid, water, gas and electric lines already under there. So we will be back there again this weekend.

Irene, so sorry to hear about your husband. Please take care of yourself first and foremost and pm me if you need a chat.

So good to start today with a great yoga workout! Oh and I got a fitness hula hoop yesterday and can even make it spin! I was so inspired by the beach drumming dance and hoop workshop. Will be going back to see it again weekend after next.

Must work now - just wanted to say hi!

Have a lovely day everyone.

Hi all, We didn't do much today besides laundry. I think Leon isn't feeling too good today. He mainly wanted to sleep so I let him. We didn't get around to laundry until after lunch. When we finished that we just watched TV (sometimes behind closed eyes for both of us). Plus it has been raining most of the day.

Good to see some of the old gang around. Welcome back Ann and everyone else. I will head to bed soon so goodnight.

Evening
Good to see you again, Ann. Do the best you can with your problems. Come back when you can.

Joe's cold escalated again. He had breakfast and returned to bed. This time I made a doctor's appointment for him. I told him it has been long enough. He didn't want me to go along so I went grocery shopping instead. Doc listened to him. Checked him out. It is NOT pneumonia. Joe's on antibiotics now for ten days. Doc said Joe is the first person he's ever known to have such a low and erratic heart beat that is not on a pacemaker. Joe's cardiologist ruled against it. Heart Rate of 35 to 85 just is not normal. What's wrong with this picture? We know he does not black out, or faint, but such a low rate is not anywhere near acceptable in my mind.

Joe told the Doc that he and I have this running debate about who will go first. Doc said to have me check out the old folks' homes, all women, so Joe says, "You lose; I go first!" My DH uses that argument whenever I want him to do something healthy. He just declares, "I'm going first!!" Nut case.

Pam told me Joe confided in her that he doesn't know what he'd do without me. That's sweet, but I'd still like him to eat his fruits & veggies, take vitamins, and be more active. I simply cannot imagine my life without him in it. He teases the snot out of me, and makes life fun. We're a good team.

Take care. Appreciate the good folks you have as long as you have them. Be sure you tell them.

Maudlin! Sorry!

Howdy emoticon Just letting you all know I am still around (barely) and Stan and I are doing ok. Doctor says Stan is healing well enough and it will take a long time for him. The are scheduling a MRI to see what other issue is going on. I too am having some problems with equilibrium syndrome and dizziness. I guess it is making the rounds emoticon among us. Having some MRA's and a MRI done to see if nothing to serious. End of this month we are attempting to get away for a few days which will be for the first time since last May. We are so ready for it emoticon and can hardly wait. Sorry I have not read the posts lately, somehow I could not get on here, need my new Computer hooked up asap but just not getting around to it. Thinking of you all emoticon and will try to get back more often.

It's been a long time since I've been Chatting -- summer has been busy with outdoor things, indoor things, family things.... Now the rains are back I'm sure I'll be in the Chatter Box room more often.

We are doing well -- Eldon had "amazing" comments from his cardiologists re his annual testing. He's well on the way to a record for longevity for heart transplant patients. It will be 28 years soon. I think the national (and maybe world) record is 30 years. He has many issues but has bounced back from things that might have taken down someone with a less hearty constitution and will to continue.

I've been dealing with leg issues .. bursitis in my hips and a new issue of restless legs. Darn - they just keep aching. I start PT on them next week and hopefully with some specific exercises and help I'll be able to be more active.

We just returned from a visit to northern California to our DS and DIL. It was delightful. We drove through some of the redwoods and sat at the overlooks on the beach but didn't get down to walk in the sand. The waves were so high and rough that it just wasn't appealing to be too close.

I haven't been able to read comments for the past week ... and am on my way to see what's going on out in the rest of the world. I think of all of you often --

That should give you a level of relief Yes, he would want to see you immediately if your health was in danger.

Very cool here. Yummy weather. Rain is done, just great fall weather.

Thanks for thinking about me, everyone. I did hear from the doctor and I am to wait until my scheduled appointment and we will discuss it then. The appt is Nov 17, so not too long to wait. It also tells me that he isn't overly concerned about it. Maybe he knows the iron level is ok.

Eye Dr appt today.

Have a good one.

Morning all, still very rainy in the UK, getting webbed feet now.

Was out most of yesterday, Ralph had to have a blood test and then our estate had a community meeting so we went to that for a couple of hours. So we got some walking in what with going to town and back and then up to the top of the estate and back, all hills here!

Gayle, have you heard from the doctor yet?

Jean, glad you got the keys sorted, shame Joe wouldn't wait, men eh? Still at least you found him safe and well eventually

Ralph back on nights tonight, it comes around quick, but he finishes Saturday morning. We just rang Emma and she is coming here at midday on Saturday until Sunday afternoon, so me and her will have a girlie night on Saturday, watching Strictly Come Dancing, and maybe a homemade pizza.

See you all later
hugs

Hi all, I will just swish in and out. We have been having rain off and on all day and that storm that hit the middle west is heading straight for us. So I am turning off my computer and heading for bed. I had my usual Bible study to go to this afternoon until 6 pm. Of course my DD stops by while I am gone to pick up the coupons I have saved for her. I called on both her cell phone and landline (that is what the kids call the telephone we know).. When I called her home I talked to her DH and I asked him to to tell her to call. I should know that you can't tell a man to remember anything.

Well, I'm heading to bed now. Goodnight.

Glad you're looking into this immediately. Take care of yourself.

Alice
Rain. We're getting a good share of it here, too. I walked Kiwi outside in my housecoat early today, but don't trust the nature trail for a one hour walk It's overcast and rain is forecast. Probably return to the mall after a two week break. I have enjoyed walking outdoors. Hard to give up.

Sherry
Hope you have a strong back today with no ill effects from all that yard work. I would be bent over and sore. Just saying.

Lola
I trust everything is going well in your world. Give us a buzz through. Grins. We miss you.

Time to get out of here. Dressed and ready to hit the road.

Hi all, I was busy yesterday and didn't have time to check in. Actually when I was getting ready to get on here my DD called and we talked half an hour. Then I had to get to bed.

Saturday we went for a walk along the river and on our way home we came upon a rally for chidren. We watched for a while but hurried home so we could watch ND football. They won the game and that was the most important thing.

Today after Church we watched pro football. I know I'm sports crazy. I also did some studying for my Monday evening Bible study.

Now I'll head for bed. Goodnight.

That's a ton of exercise raking and bagging 19 bags of leaves. Are you kidding me? Awesome. Quite a workout.

Yes it was hard not being able to find my keys. We were both upset. But when he left the parking lot, I was so sad. My guy does not walk with me, and he took off alone for a three mile hike home to get his key to my car. I called Pam and asked her to try to intercept her stubborn father. Grins. She had to shower and dress to go after him. When the manager brought my key out to the parking lot to me, I hugged him. Then I texted Joe and called him. No answer of course. I drove home. Left a note on his car, and drove back a different way looking for him. I was so relieved when I found him. I called Pam, and let her know I had him. She does worry about us. I just felt terribly old, senile, and helpless.

I do know to put things away immediately before I forget where the heck I left them. Terrible memory lapse. Did not realize I left them on the tray. Being the neat, organized guy he is, he grabbed both trays and put them in the pick up spot. I honestly felt good that a tiny part of the awful situation was his doing. I was relieved that I hadn't just left the keys in a stupid place for someone else to find.

In his search the manger found that the key was on the tray in the dishwashing section, but had not been put through the washer. The key was not wet. Thank goodness!

All is well. We did have a good day after all.

Hugs for everyone

RC, you never noticed he sat a lot. I often fear he will fall when he gets tired. Being the wife, my comments on a cane were received as "nagging" as he called it. I have never been a nag, that comment was hurtful, but then I had to consider how difficult the whole thing was for him, too.

I sure wished I could have heard the band, seen you rock! If I cannt have a tshirt, get me a cd.

Did I tell you how much my DD enjoyed the Canyon. She felt an aura from it, totally enthralled her. They spent a night at Grand Canyon Village, too.

Nice to chat with you. BYOBeer, I just drank all mine. emoticon

SHERRY - That is a LOT of bags!!! I would gladly share a cold beer w/ you after you've done all that work.

I'm sure Terry will get around much better than he did before. I never noticed he needed a cane while he was here or in Vegas.

I'm glad you get your sutures out on Wednesday...means you're healing nicely.

Don't mean to be MIA, just needing a break, I guess. I was sure I saw ShirleyG rejoin the team, that gave me a lift. Hope to see her post.
JEAN, how stressful! I am amazed the key was even found! What a relief!
Yes, Canadian Thanksiving, and I spent a good part of it raking leaves. I had already done 2 afternoons of leaf raking, good thing I did, as this is a monumental job! I have a leaf blower, I made use of it today, it did help. 19 bags total!
I will do some lamb on the BBQ, we are still experiencing lovely weather.
I have been walking, mt sutures are still covered, they come out Wedneday.
Terry comes home Thursday. He says he is using a cane, I hope he continues, as his balance is very bad. I know it is a mental hurtle to use a cane, perhaps his long time away gave him confidence to try when the chance of running into someone he knew was less likely.
I have not read back, will have to do that, I have missed much.
Hugs all around. emoticon

Joe and I had a delightful breakfast this morning at cafe type. BUT when it was time to leave, I could not find my car key anywhere. Joe was truly disgusted. He decided to walk home to get his key, but I could not leave my beautiful car for someone else to drive off with my key, so I stayed. I asked the manager to please ask everyone if they had found my car key and returned to the parking lot to stand sentry over my car.

Guess what? The key was found before going through the dishwasher ON the tray that we used to collect our plates and utensils. So we actually were both at fault. Me, for not stopping immediately and putting it in my purse after paying for our meals at the cash register; and Joe for placing the tray in the pick up spot without seeing my key on it. Not sure how he could do that.

Such a disaster when we had planned a nice treat after church. Our kids gave Joe a birthday gift card to the restaurant, so it was fun to use it. At least until I couldn't find my key.

All is forgiven. All is peaceful once more.

Good morning Cuties,

I don't have to work today!!! I do however get to play music ON THE BIG STAGE at Watson Lake Outdoor Festival. We will also get paid for this gig!!!

Long day yesterday, 6:30-9pm. Rested well & am having coffee. Will leave here in 45 minutes. An hour set up & tear down & 2 hours of music. S/b done early enough to relax & have a beer...or two.

I hope everyone is doing well & I'll try to check in more often. I may be able to drop the 2nd job here in a couple of weeks or may just stay on till after the 1st of the year.

Have the best day...I'll let you know if I dropped my sticks during the performance.

That is indeed scary news. So relieved that it is treatable for both of you. I'd get tested quickly to see if you did inherit it, also. Glad the blood donations are useable for someone else.

At least you know before your situation is as drastic as your brother's. Wow!!

Peaceful day here.

My house needs cleaning but I haven't tried to tackle any of it. Oh, well.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, RC! Goose bumps.

I just lost a huge post, grrrrrr, which included a long description of something scary I found out yesterday.

Cutting to the chase, my DB has been diagnosed with Hereditary Hemochromatosis. It's a manageable disease, but he's already in stage 3 of possible 4 of liver damage. He will have to have a unit of blood drawn every 2 weeks to start with until the iron level drops to normal (which is around 50 to my understanding) from where his is now at over 1,000. I need to be tested. Apparently it's a blood test and if the iron is elevated, genetic testing. I'm not sure. Pretty disconcerting!

It can be managed through diet and exercise (naturally, isn't it always?), and regular blood donations. The blood donations will deplete the iron level. Luckily, the blood he will donate is usable.

I'm posting this before I lose another post.
