I think I'm back among the land of the living again. I've been down for the past week with another digestive upset ........ but was able to stay home and deal with it by myself. I'm still watching what I eat. The good news is that I've lost a pound or two. It's definitely not the way to go about it, though.

It's amazing how deep the house gets when I'm not puttering around and about for a week. I keep thinking I'm not doing anything but when nothing gets done the clutter and fuzz in the corners really piles up. I'm gradually getting things back under control.

This morning I need to go out and pick green beans and little gold tomatoes again. The big red ones are starting to slow down and I think we will be able to keep up with them now. The joys of having a kitchen garden. There is always something to do. I did get the fall/winter garden planted with garlic for next summer, kale for the winter harvest, sugar snap peas that might bloom before the bees are gone. Leaf lettuce that should be ready for picking in another week or so.

My hugs to all of you ... healing hugs to those that need them. congratulation hugs to those that have earned them. humor hugs to those jokers that share a good laugh. consolation hugs to Gayle at the loss of her friend.

Morning all

Barb, so good to see you and with some good news, that is great coming off 4 meds, now build up your walking strength slowly.
Sounds as if your sister is now enjoying the karaoke lol

Roger, this has been going on long enough, what do the doctors say?

Have to get up before 7 each day this week as we have ordered some parcels and they will all be delivered this week, could have stayed in bed today, so feel some early nights coming on.

Hello everybody,
It's been awhile since I've been on here, but I have been busy going to doctor's appointments. I don't know if I told you or not, but my new cardiologist took me of four of my meds and they are insulin, blood pressure Warfrain and one of my water pills. My blood sugars have been real good as well as my blood pressure. I have to count my liquids maximum of 64 ounces a day and watch my sodium. I can't go no more then 200 mgs on sodium. My doctor also told me to walk every day, which I have been doing. I go around my block twice. I want to build myself into walking and then go to my park that I usually go to and start walking around the small circle and eventually walk around the big one.

Roger is not fighting the dizziness, but how ever he still fighting diarrhea.

My sister and I have been going to karaoke every Saturday night. It took me all evening to talk my sister into getting up and singing for the first time, She has found out it was fun. We have been going now for two months. She came over to my house Friday night and we picked out a lot of songs to sing and we picked out a song we can sing together.

Well I better scoot myself out of here I still get my snack at ten.

You all take care,
Great big hugs,
Barb1

P.S The sandman is on his way to sprinkle his magic dust on all of you. I hope he has been doing a good job helping you all to fall asleep during my absents

I lost a dear friend to cancer yesterday. Howard and I took him out for his birthday on Aug 6. He lived here on the floor above me. I'd known him for 45 years. He will be sorely missed.

Morning all
Didn't sleep much last night, still up at 3 a.m.

I think the tourists in Ralphs e mail were from UK, hate to say it lol but from how some of them were worded!

I do remember when we went to Venice in Aug 2007, of course it was very crowded and we were on the Rialto Bridge looking at the shops on there and the view of course and an American woman shouted very loudly, "Why is it so busy here, we can't see anything?" I don't know if she thought she would get it to herself haha. We wandered off down below the bridge to the Rialto Market and it was mainly locals and we bought some fresh blackberries in a punnet, they were HUGE and sweet and delicious. We also wandered away from the busy places and explored the alleyways and over little bridges, beautiful and quieter.

Hi all, Sorry I didn't get I here yesterday. I was doped up on antihistamines and just couldn't stay awake. We did get to Walmart and got my groceries that I had listed. I was able to get everything home with Leon's help. Then when I started cooking dinner I remembered a few thing we had forgotten.

So today we walked to the grocery store and just picked up the things I had forgotten. Then we got home in time to watch the beginning of the Cubs game. Then at 3:30 we watched the first Notre Dame football game. There has been a lot of flack about the coach not playing 4 of the players because they were suspected of forging their class work. So there were doubts about how the rest of the team could play. No doubt now. Final score 48-17. They blew Rice out of the game.

Ralph, Boy did those tourists have a few screws loose. If they can afford to go to Spain you would think they were smart enough to know what language the locals speak. Talk about Ugly American.

Well I think I'll go to bed now. Goodnight.

Whew! and these folks book tours and walk among us. So they have some discretionary income, but no brains.

Good day.

Fell behind on my steps today, only 18,000, but I got out there more than once.

I tackled the second sock and got it knit past the heel. Now I just go around and around and around until the yarn runs out. Oh, we'll. I'll figure something out.

Might not be on as much this weekend, but I'll catch up.

Sending hugs

I'm doing well. Yes, AMMAMMA, I had a parathyroidectomy. The procedure went fine, but I've discovered I can't do everything on my own. Recovery isn't as quick as I expected. Thanks for thinking of me.

Too funny

THESE ARE ACTUAL COMPLAINTS RECEIVED BY "THOMAS COOK VACATIONS" FROM DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS:

1. "I think it should be explained in the brochure that the
local convenience store does not sell proper biscuits like
custard creams or ginger nuts."

2. "It's lazy of the local shopkeepers in Puerto Vallarta to
close in the afternoons. I often needed to buy things
during 'siesta' time -- this should be banned."

3. "On my holiday to Goa in India, I was disgusted to find
that almost every restaurant served curry. I don't like
spicy food."

4. "We booked an excursion to a water park but no-one told
us we had to bring our own swimsuits and towels. We assumed
it would be included in the price."

5. "The beach was too sandy. We had to clean everything when
we returned to our room."

6. "We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure.
Your brochure shows the sand as white but it was more
yellow."

7. "They should not allow topless sunbathing on the beach.
It was very distracting for my husband who just wanted to
relax."

8. "No-one told us there would be fish in the water. The
children were scared."

9. "Although the brochure said that there was a fully
equipped kitchen, there was no egg-slicer in the drawers."

10. "We went on holiday to Spain and had a problem with the
taxi drivers as they were all Spanish."

11. "The roads were uneven and bumpy, so we could not read
the local guide book during the bus ride to the resort.
Because of this, we were unaware of many things that would
have made our holiday more fun."

12. "It took us nine hours to fly home from Jamaica to
England. It took the Americans only three hours to get home.
This seems unfair."

13. "I compared the size of our one-bedroom suite to our
friends' three-bedroom and ours was significantly smaller."

14. "The brochure stated: 'No hairdressers at the resort.'
We're trainee hairdressers and we think they knew and made
us wait longer for service."

15. "When we were in Spain, there were too many Spanish
people there. The receptionist spoke Spanish, the food was
Spanish. No one told us that there would be so many
foreigners."

16. "We had to line up outside to catch the boat and there
was no air-conditioning."

17. "It is your duty as a tour operator to advise us of
noisy or unruly guests before we travel."

18. "I was bitten by a mosquito. The brochure did not
mention mosquitoes."

19. "My fiancée and I requested twin-beds when we booked,
but instead we were placed in a room with a king bed. We now
hold you responsible and want to be re-reimbursed for the
fact that I became pregnant. This would not have happened if
you had put us in the room that we booked."

Harlequin Novel, Updated.... 2014 Version
He grasped me firmly, but gently, just above my elbow
and guided me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we
were alone. He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low,
reassuring voice close to my ear. "Just relax."

Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused hands start
at my ankles, gently probing and moving upward along my calves, slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat.

I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care.
His touch was so experienced, so sure. When his hands moved up onto my
thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was
pounding. I felt his knowing fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And
then, as he cupped my firm, full breasts in his hands, I inhaled sharply.

Probing, searching, knowing what he wanted, he brought
his hands to my shoulders, slid them down my tingling spine. Although I knew
nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and expectant. This is a man,
I thought. A man used to taking charge. A man not used to taking 'No' for an
answer. A man who would tell me what he wanted. A man who would look into my
soul and say . . . .
.

. "Okay ma'am, you can board your flight now."

Obviously I missed reading yesterday, but I sure got a lot done, INCLUDING THE FENCE! I even got my steps just over 20,000 in case Jean got up in the middle of the night, ha ha. (as my day ends after hers, I can still run around in circles trying to beat her, IF I had the energy, lol)

Well, I laughed out loud at you Delores! Still chuckling! There are some people who do seem to just go on and on.... I blame their meds, lol. I am a little chatterbox too, but at least I am not a phone chatterer.

The older we get, and it seems to be happening to all of us, it gets harder to drop those pounds. Those 8 days I walked over 100 miles including the regular steps not Volkssport walking and I got home and gained 6 ounces!!!! gotta love those scales that tell you you lost an ounce and we cheer wildly!!!!
Now I am home and away from restaurant food, the weight is finally going down again. SLOW, but I know that is how it will be. I got myself into this mess again, I can get myself out of this mess again! Maybe we can get Team T-shirts with that slogan. emoticon

Kathy and family coming tonight, they will stay the weekend. Kathy's inlaws live about 4 blocks away, so it gives the other Gramma a chance to see the family. I leave at 7am tomorrow morning for another walking holiday, this will be the last of the year. This time northwest Alberta, 90km, again, many places I have never seen. I hope the weather holds!

I enjoyed your joke Jean, seems so true for some reason.

Oh, almost forgot... I have opened the Spreadsheet for September in case I don't get on to do it closer to September 1. You might have to check for it underneath the current spreadsheet....there are tabs there, look for September 2014, should be right beside August. I will have my laptop, but sometimes getting internet connection in the mountains is iffy.

A dozen things to do, and they are not getting done sitting here. I will call Gayle today, see what's up with her and let you know, if she cannot get here to tell you herself.

Keep up your exercising, it makes you smarter. emoticon

Morning Sue
Good to see you pop in again

The dogs have had their first walk.
I am heading out to the mall to walk for my morning exercise.
Somewhat cooler this morning. The promised rain still has not come. Maybe it will get here yet.

I am knitting on the second sock, but fear I may run out of that multi-color yarn. The yarn was purchased in Florida a couple of years back in a JoAnn Store. I looked for it here a while back, and didn't see a color match. Not sure what I'll do to finish this one when the yarn dribbles out. Procrastinating didn't help.
emoticon

Megan is doing well to regain her equilibrium. She seems to be bouncing back. She's even gaining some much needed weight. Bless her heart.

Sending hugs for all. Have a great day.

Hi all, I am very tired tonight. I didn't sleep well last night. My sinuses were acting up and I coughed all night. Of course, the golden rod was in full bloom. I tiptoed by it but emoticon

So today all we did was to walk to the library and home. I'm going to bed early and see how I feel tomorrow. Goodnight.

I have now had three no sugar days. I am staying away from the treats I love so much. The scales are not cooperating yet. I'm walking a great deal more, and snacking at night bc I am truly hungry after a second or third long walk. I have to find my equilibrium again. Today I have walked 10 miles, and the dogs get one more walk before bed.

The walking is fine, but something has to be done about my appetite. Sheesh! emoticon

Hit 11.5 miles with the last doggie walk. Not in bed yet. emoticon

Cheers! for you and Steve. Sorry he is having a rough time with it.

A very satisfying day here. Megan came over this morning. I addressed the envelopes for her Thank You notes. She was having a terrible time dreading sending them out. I wrote out a kind way to say thanks, and announce their change in plans. She was so grateful. So she copied what I suggested and got all of her Thank you notes written, stamped, and in the mail box here. We took Rudy and Kiwi for a long walk and chatted. She stayed for pizza dinner and will leave soon for work this evening. I was glad to help. Good job faced and completed.

I am back to knitting again. Washable wool socks. emoticon
My next quilting project is a turkey table runner, but it's not a demanding creation. emoticon

Good step count so far today.

Hi Alice,

Congrats on the smoking. Steve will make it, I am sure.
Tell him the Sparks Team is watching. emoticon emoticon

It is just a quick pass through to say hi. Just home from the Thrift shop and then have the general meeting for the condo. Once a year it is held, thank goodness. Would not want to go more often, and hope there is no yelling back and forth.

Have a great evening.

Not done much today just De-fuzzed my legs and tried to De-fizz my hair, cant start packing us moany man forgot to get the cases out of the loft ha ha

Hi all, I did a real good job of walking today. I had a meeting about 10 blocks from my home. After the meeting we decided to walk by the river. We started from there and that added to our trip. We ender up walking for 4 miles or 9908 steps by my counter. We reversed the usual route so we ended where we usually start.

I had a couple of distracting telephone calls this evening. The first one came when I was trying to fix dinner. So that made dinner late. Then a friend called while we were eating dinner. I basically hung up on her after trying to explain I was trying to eat my dinner. After dinner I called her back and she chattered on and on so much I really didn't understand what she was even saying. What is it about me that screams sucker whenever someone wants to talk? I guess I just don't want to offend anyone.

Well I will head to bed now. Goodnight.

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his wife, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

'I'd like to be eight again', she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco Pops, and then took her to Adventure World theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.

Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favourite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.
He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well dear, what was it like being eight again?

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. I meant my dress size, you f@*#*! retard!!!!'

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.

Jean - well done topping Sherry's steps. I keep looking at the two of you at the top of my friends steps list and think "one day". In the meantime I am really pleased when I make my 7,000.

Alice - you made me laugh. I'm frizzy Lizzie all the time unless I just walked out of the hairdressers! Can't get it straight enough by myself.

Finally gave you a run for your money yesterday. Tee hee hee. Enjoyed that. didn't drop an ounce. I guess that handful of peanuts was not such a good idea. At least I didn't go for ice cream.

I got out my old tee shirt dress we sent around for decorations in 2009. So I was thinking of the others lately, too.

Tell Miss Jaq, "Hello!" for me, too.

Take care. No rain yet. Drats.

So exciting for Norma, I know she was here on another team when I joined Spark in 2007, and I can tell you see and her "boys" have been working hard to get this weight down. How awesome!!! I must tell MissJaq, she will be sooo impressed with you!

Jean, WAY TO GO!!!! I managed 19,910.... you beat me!!!! Painted today, but tired from the heat I suspect, so came home at 2:30 and fell asleep till 4:20, then washed and changed and went on a 10km walk with the club. Otherwise, my steps would have amounted to diddly squat!

My daughter suggested I put my fitbit on my arm....tee hee.

Good night everyone, I hope not to chat with the UK gals tonight!!! (meaning, I hope to be sleeping)

Hi all, Well Sherry you are half right. I woke up to thunder and lightning which continued until about noon. That's OK since we needed to do laundry. Or should I say that Leon needed to do laundry. He had changed his bed twice while I was gone (3 days) and wore 5 pairs of pants, etc. He had a full laundry basket. I lad a little laundry to do myself so we did that in the morning. After we finished lunch the sun came out and I said let's run to the grocery store. Sure--it was so humid that at 75 degrees the humidity made it feel like nearly 90. Anyway we needed to pick up more bananas, milk, and eggs to hold us over until Friday when he gets paid. As we came back home the rain was beginning again and soon after it was midnight dark except for the lightning. Boy did we schedule that close. emoticon

At least it is supposed to clear up tomorrow. Goodnight for now.

You inspired me. I have had a no sugar day. My first in a long time.

I walked 20,000 steps today. The dogs had good walks. I walked in the mall this morning, and then Pam did come over after work. She only had 2,000 miles so we walked extra in the mall tonight. My legs are trembling.
emoticon
I grabbed a handful of dry roast peanuts, and a diet lemonade drink. I'll be just fine. Maybe even drop a half pound. That would be terrific.

Greetings
Kiwi seems better today. He does gobble insects before I can yank his leash away. He has tunnel vision and eats them before I even notice them. With two dogs on separate leashes, it is hard to watch both of them, and pick up their poop. I wish Kiwi would learn that eating katydids makes him ill. I do better with his restrictions when walking him alone. Yelling, "NO!" does not faze him when he already has the darn insect in his mouth.

We return Rudy to Charlotte when she flies home from California. Rudy is super happy to have a playmate, and Kiwi is a bit more responsive today.

I have my 10,000 steps already today. If Pam stops by after work, I'll add to that. I need to pay better attention to my high blood sugar and quit cheating with goodies. I'm sure the weight will drop slowly if I give up my treats.

Take care, and have a wondrous day. emoticon

Hi ANGELA, when we are both here at the same time, one of us is not sleeping! Looks like it's me this time. I still have my treadmill, I enjoyed it when I could not get outside walking. It is true, we never seem to be sorry we made the effort to get some exercise within our own means.
Super nice here, we have your weather apparently. We are our supper on the patio of the restaurant. Window is open, air smell great, now if I can just get back to sleep.....

Maybe Delores has all the really great weather, but likely a bit TOO warm.

Wettest bank holiday for years here in Dorset too!

It rained all day yesterday, all night last night and its still at it. Got the treadmill walk in again this morning but it was a struggle as I hadn't slept much last night. Still feel better for it though :)

Hi all, we got going early today. We went to McDonalds for a quick breakfast. We then rode the bus to Leon's pharmacy to pick up his drugs. We then walked around in the new park. A lot of other people were doing the same. The weather was getting very humid and the temperature got high today so we got back inside before 11 am. The temp was 93 by noon with the heat index (heat + humidity) was 101. No way could I stand that with my asthma. So this afternoon was spent clearing some room on my DVR. See you all tomorrow. Goodnight.

Hi everyone, spent the day in the sun to paint more of the fence, I will have it done by Wednesday. Not sure if I mentioned neighbor on other side asked me to paint his fence next. I think we have the color issue settled, lol.
I did not lose a lot of weight with all this walking but seems it has moved around or consolidated into muscle, getting lots of compliments, so it is keeping me motivated even with the low step count while I paint the fence.
Thanks for the update Jean, and I am so very sorry but do think life might be very miserable with that MIL. Sad this has had an unhappy ending.

What's up with Kiwi??? hahah, I get like that....JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! tee hee.

I am out for supper with MJ tonight. I have not seen her for ages, and she has been to NYC and I have had my trip so we have lots to catch up on. It will be an early night as she will head home and is up at 5am every morning.

Getting SP messages again. Yeah!! Temporarily fixed, I guess.

I am so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o relieved. We drove over to Megan's work just so I could give her a huge hug. I have been truly concerned. She looks good and was chatty with Joe and I. Elliott unfriended her on Facebook. When she asked why, he said he just couldn't deal with her now. So she told him, it was OK, she was blocking him and his family from everything since he took the first step. She is concerned because he is coming in for Labor Day weekend and wants to take her to lunch. She declined and asked him to stay away completely. I think that is best, too. She doesn't need his toxic Mom in her life any longer.

The decision was mutual to cancel their plans, but he wants some things to continue. She thought they could be friends, but reality set in.

None of my dear Michigan family is coming to Texas now. Sad. We all feel bad, but realize Megan's future is more important than some cancelled vacation plans.

Sending hugs.

Hi Jean,

That happens to me regularly. Whenever I see that I am not receiving Sparks Messages, I know it has been checked off. I do not know why either. I just go and change it.

Must be both a relief and with a bit of sadness that you are dealing with. Megan certainly sounds like she has made the right decision as far as she is concerned. Like I said, better now than later.

Sorry about the problems Ree. We have the same situation here. Somehow when I call to do something, the same problem will often arise. Patience it takes patience.

Weather beautiful, warm and sunny here.

Yes, the wedding is off. Megan has returned everything from him or related to him to his parents. His toxic Mom is berating her for her Facebook page. So glad that woman is not going to be an ongoing part of our lives. Megan decided she needs to block her from her Facebook. Yes! Overdue, but glad she sees the need. Megan wants to be "friends" with his family, but that may not be possible.

Walking is going well for me. It is hot here, but the mall is chilled. Yeah!

Kiwi is withdrawing. Strange. Usually he is all excitement with Rudy around. Not sure what prompted this. We do not put them in their kennels before we leave the house, so perhaps something happened while we were gone. Not sure.

The table runner is complete. Need to get a photo to share. Today is laundry and floors here. Chores cannot be sidestepped for long.

Ree
Sorry you have officialdom to battle. Speaking to foreigners is not easy.

I was so pleased that I got to talk to an American Friday when my refrigerator had an issue. Apparently just unplugging it so it could reset itself took care of the problem. It was making a whooshing sound, and the lower ice maker was not working. The technician created a work order, but said he would hold it for a week to see if resetting fixed it. Good to know.

Alice
We are supposed to get rain all week here, 100% chance of rain tomorrow. Welcome it.

Have a great day.

Hello everyone....just a quick pop in to say hi...have been a bit busy with my cousin Mary not doing too well & DHs cough & the side effects of his cough meds. Just got back after his eye shots & a quick check up with his pulmonologist. The pulmonologist has given us a 3 day course of meds or we might have to admit him to get the water out of his lungs.

Ree how terrible that you have to cope with all the crazy officialdom....

Sherry love hearing about those walks & then coping with all the painting assignments... You go girl

Jean wow all set to finish the runner....

Alice, Gayle, Barb, Roger hope all you folk are doing well... Didn't Gayle have a medical procedure lined up...any news

Wishing everyone well & a fantastic new week

Hugs, prayers & blessings

Sherry, your walking sounds wonderful, you should be on tv like Julia Bradbury. Watched her walk in Iceland last night she got to stand on the earths youngest volcanic mountain and even looked right down into a glowing volcano.

This morning I set my Spotify power walking music playing and walked 2.5 miles on the treadmill - its raining outdoors today.

Sorry I am falling behind on mail, I had a few days of officialdom and not sure who won yet. It was either phone calls where you are left hanging on for ages. Or I get an accent I can't understand very well ,
Then I had forms to full in . One was me applying for replacement bus pass. First thing I saw in the form was Enclose missing or damaged pass with your claim. Is it me?. Who designs theses forms, not got my pass yet anyway,
It all got to me and I had a vertigo attack , I am on medication for it but it comes and goes, so been taking it easy ,
I did meet our new great great son yesterday.,Joseph. Hr was handed from one to another at the family Sunday gathering .
Have a good week friends . Ree

Hi all, I took the day off after going to church this morning. My daughter's family did not go to the circus as planned. My grandson had not finished his homework so no one could go to the circus. I watched the Cubs win the last of 3 games against Baltimore. That is one of the few times they won all 3. Well I will head for bed now. Goodnight.

Home for lunch, 4652 steps Norma :-)
Paint color issues, one panel done, color wrong, lots of discussion with neighbours, client, paint store. SHEESH. Decided to come home for a coffee, a rest and now ready to start again. Lost 3 of my 6 hours!
JEAN, sorry to hear wedding plans changed. Life is tough sometimes. Yes, I hope to do all the Alberta walks, if I ever find time to figure out which ones I am missing!
Ok, coffee done, back at it!

Are you trying to hit all 64 walks this year? Sounds like tremendous fun and a heck of a lot of walking. Way to go.

My Michigan family is not coming now since the wedding was cancelled. Jeri decided not to take her boys out of school in October. Frank and Sarah decided to vacation somewhere else. Son Jeff and his wife may still make the trip. We hope so. Usually we have Jeff do some paid work related chores around here when he comes. Maybe Joe will still come up with some ideas.

I am hand sewing the binding down on the back side of the quilted table runner Very pleased with it. Nearly done now that I only have the hand work.

Good Morning, Cannot keep up right now, seems I am trying to beat RC in the activity cycle. I returned Thursday from my 8 day 155km of walking (96 miles) trip. We racked up over 2200 km driving miles while we were at it. I saw parts of Alberta I had never seen before and marveled at a rock slide in a town called Frank in south west Alberta. "On the morning of April 29, 1903, at 4:10 am, over 82 million tonnes (90 million tons) of limestone rock slid down Turtle Mountain within 100 seconds, obliterating the eastern edge of Frank, the Canadian Pacific Railway line and the coal mine." It was estimated 70-90 people were killed, 20 miners were trapped but later rescued. 3 miners outside the mine were not so lucky. It was a fascinating piece of Canada's history and to see how much rock and the size of it was astounding. Even now, 100 years later when the initial valley area has been cleared to allow the river to flow again, the rail line to resume it is a very impressive site.
Friday I unpacked, did my wash, had my Legion night and won the Breakfast package, and Saturday, gosh that was just yesterday, we had a group walk out of town. I was gone 7:30 am, home 7:00pm, walked 15km and had a great picnic lunch at a walkers home, where she supplied pulled pork and we supplied pot luck to accompany it. It was fabulous! She also provided us with a singer and his 90 minute long program of up beat country songs. Tough to walk after that relaxing sit in the sun and all that good food.
Today I am starting to paint a fence, should do that for about 6 hours a day, likely 5 days work, so it does not look like I will get much walking in. I think the Fitbit could use a rest anyway. Before I get the fence finished, we are off again on Thursday for another 5 day walking trip; this time going north.

I will try to read tonight when I get a chance to sit down.

Hi. I am just a little ticked off! Somewhere along the line Sparks lost my post from yesterday. Well I guess I will just try again. I left on the train Wednesday afternoon for my sister's home. It takes about an hour to get there. We live in different time zones so I leave at 5 pm my time and get there at 5 pm her time. But of course it takes me 2 hours (sort of) to get home emoticon

Thursday very early we got on the bus that was taking a group of us to Saugatuck, Michigan. They were having a Sidewalk Sale and an end of the season for those shops that are permanently located there. We each found some wonderful bargains. I found a pink cowboy hat, a large coffee cup and a nice toy for my little Emma.

We then went to this nice restaurant for a huge luncheon. There was a salad the size of a dinner plate then a choice of steak, chicken or fish for the main dish with a baked potato and fruit on the side. Then it was topped off with a chocolate turtle pie. And yes I ate it all. Bad me. emoticon

We then were supposed to take a boat ride but bad weather was approaching so the boats were not going to go out so instead we went home. It's just as well the store soon hit us at her house and it knocked out their cable.

The next day I went with Carol to the senior center where she works. I played Bingo with everyone. I didn't win but I had a lot of fun. This wasn't the usual quiet rapid number calling. They had a lot of fun banter back and forth. Then I had lunch with them and then took the train back home.

Today I spent the day recovering and resting because my friend Christine invited me to a play tonight so I had to be well rested so I didn't fall asleep if the play was a dud. Well it wasn't and I loved the play. I am still wired but I must try to get some sleep for church tomorrow. I hope this posts this time. Goodnight all.

Greetings from my sunny part of the world.

Wrapped up my exercise by swimming this morning and then a couple of hours later met with a couple of friends for breakfast. Later took my list and did a bit of grocery shopping. Forgot two things on my list so I will make a return visit tomorrow after church.

I am still knitting my dish cloths. I should goggle dish cloths and look for a new pattern. They are getting a workout as my dishwasher has to be replaced. I am kind of tired of the same pattern all the time. Amazing Jean that you can knit while you are in a moving vehicle. I cannot even read on an airplane. I get very motion sick.

Jean thanks for the suggestion re news on line. I do get some of my news on line and I guess I will just continue. I will look into it and see what I can pull up.

Well, out I go to battle the spiders on the balcony. I am close to the water, and of course it is against the law to spray with chemicals so I think the stuff I use, they might enjoy. emoticon This is as close as I could get to something that is suppose to be a spray can.

That's great. I love the "Girl Friends Sew" meeting at our local quilt store. DIL and I show up there with several of her friends from the school where she works. Lots of good information, chatter and fun. No teaching, although one of our gals is a teacher at the same quilt store. So we get some free hints.

My refrigerator is making wheezing noises, so I called the Home Depot protection plan unit. The trouble shooter had me unplug the machine and restart it. We'll see if the noise stays away now. If not, he'll leave my work order open for a week and see if it crops up again. The fridge is running and cooling, but the wheezing bothers me. It's intermittent which would make it darn hard for a technician to catch it and fix it.

Quilting progress again this morning. Yeah!!

Good morning on a beautiful Saturday in August. I woke early again, don't know why. DH is still sleeping and I've finished the newspaper and am now drinking my #2 cup of coffee and planning out what needs to be done today. I think most of it is going to be outdoors. The summer flowers are mostly gone, bushes have overgrown, weeds are getting tall. There just aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with all the upkeep around the yard and house. I want to get some kale plants for a fall/winter garden. I'm also wanting to plant some asparagus roots for a permanent asparagus bed.

I have put off doing any quilting over the past 4 weeks and I am anxious to get back to the sewing machine. Last evening I took some "me" time and went to an open quilting night at the fabric store. (bring your machine, project and sew and chat) DIL works at the store and she is hosting the late night sew-in after the store closes.

I'm happy - we just keep puttering along and doing things that please us both. It works for us.

Lola - in Oregon

Today is a good day to have a good day.

Just drank my salad!

Yes really! I blended cucumber, lettuce, celery and mint in a cup of Kefir (a bit like yogurt but thinner consistency) and it tasted fine. I did draw the line at adding the tuna and wrap so I skipped the wrap and mashed the tuna with a little light mayo and ate that separately.

Going out with friends for a curry tonight.

Morning all
Thanks for the good wishes for our Megan. I hope to see her today bc she is laying low, and I want to share some smiles.

The dogs have had their walks and breakfast. Such little rowdies so early in the morning.

Thanks for the good wishes. We both feel young, so hopefully we can add some more years.

I'll be quilting again today. Anxious to get that table runner complete.

Good morning from sunny Dorset!

DH cooked us smoked mackerel and scrambled eggs for breakfast. He thought he bought kippers but I actually prefer the mackerel. Bit of an odd breakfast but it was a nice surprise.

I had a really bad week for walking. Pain, stress and too much accounting work to get away from my desk. Next week will be better!

Sherry and Jean are the two top ladies on my fitbit friends list and they both get in some awesome miles. My daughter has challenged herself to make the 10K steps a day and then she will buy herself a treat from her Amazon wishlist so she is way ahead of me this week too. That is really excellent as she needs to walk for her health way more than I do because of the neuropathy in her toes.

So, I need to challenge myself for the coming week. I will walk at least 7K steps a day (I know that's not many for most of you but it is for me) and as a reward I get to not beat myself up for being lazy.

Ralph I loved that joke - I just copied and sent it to all the family members. Thank you for my morning laugh.

Off to do the chores now and also get in some walking. Where to go?

TTFN friends.
