Whoa! I did not say cold, only chilly. Well chilly is near 50F. We warmed up nicely to mid 60's. This morning it was 61F at 8:15. Yummy. No coats or jackets needed for church, but I did wear a turtle neck light weight sweater. It's 72F now. Glorious. Kiwi will get our favorite outdoor walk along the golf course on the hiking trail.

Summers are HOT, but winters are mostly just chilly, seldom really cold. A couple more weeks of winter, and then Spring should greet us with balmy weather. March and October are our best weather months. Truly enjoyable.

I'm nearly through my Large Print Bible Word Search Book. I look forward to buying a different word search book very, very soon. Fun for me. I prefer crossword puzzles on line bc they tell me if I have guessed wrong and highlight in red the letters that need to change. I am rather new to returning to crossword puzzles, so that helps me.

Have a grand day.

GAIL Donna sits at 3 F with a -9 F windchill. I need to try harder! I am sitting at -4 F and I see the sun rising. That full sun will help. Should make it to the plus side of Farhenheight by the time my walk is done!

Good morning.

So glad that your MIL did not send the money. I hear of so many that do. Good for her for not being taken by a scammer.

Well, it is freezing today and I am on for second service at church. Have to bring dessert, so chocolate brownies it is. Easiest to make.

Bitter cold today. They were ice kiting on the frozen lake yesterday. Gosh it must be cold out there. I, for sure, will never go to find out. I will not put a toe on the frozen lake, well, at least not until I lose a "lot of weight." Scale was not good to me last week, but must admit, totally my fault. Of course, when I come to think of it, whose fault would it be? Of course, I remember now........S1 sent the extra weight with the cold weather. Better up that to two hats and three scarves, and do not forget the 4 pairs of gloves. Gosh she is a meany. emoticon

Must shower and get dressed.

Be back later to catch up on anything I might have missed.

Good morning Gail.

Good morning GAIL. Just opening eyes and see you up and posting. Sounds like you have come to grips with your loss and are moving forward. I hope your new friend becomes a good friend and you enjoys some good times together.
I see I am sitting at -2F, but it should warm up a bit before I walk with a couple of my walking buddies. It's icy out there, that's the worst part.

ALICE, thank heavens MIL saw the light in time and did not lend the money! That's quite an age difference! She must be feeling a few emotions today.

Susie Q, my steps yesterday were so bad! I barely moved and slept in the afternoon on top of that! Sure was not able to find my game! I never made lunch or supper, thankfully Terry did...for himself. Sheesh. Oh well, I preferred my scrambled eggs to his beans and wieners!

I will check in later, take care everyone!

Good Morning from snowy Madison Wisconsin:

Well, it's been snowing all night and will continues till past 10 PM tonight. We are expecting 3-5 inches of snow and the temperature is anticipated to go down to -2 F. The bad news is the wind which will get as high as 20-30 mph. I'm staying put today thank you. I've got everything I need including a working efficient furnace.

I started a new book yesterday, HELSINKI HOMICIDE: AGAINST THE WALL, by Jarkko Sipila. Hope you all stay warm and safe.

Gail

Hi from the frozen north. S1 has done an excellent job of sending us delightful weather. Yesterday we had snow and a -2c temperature. Today it is down to -32c with the wind chill factor. I have been hibernating today but must go out tomorrow for church. I, like S1, agree that spring is definitely not around the corner. Unusual weather for us, but as I said, S1 sends it and we have to endure it. emoticon

I am so sorry that your MIL was taken by a scammer. I do not understand why people still lend money to stranger, especially when you warned her. Perhaps the police will trace the emails and be able to get the money back. I am not sure how much money that is Alice in Canadian dollars but I am sure it is a lot.

Have a great evening. I will catch up on my reading to see what every one has been doing.

Good Afternoon:

Since organizing the basement and garage I have found enough office supplies for the rest of my life....literally. I have entire moving size boxes with all kinds of packing tapes; markers, pens and sharpies; envelopes; file folders; pads, computer paper, notepads and lined paper. twines; labels...the list goes on and on. Same thing for toiletries: soaps and shower gels; toothpaste, tooth brushes and dental floss; shampoo and conditioners; lotions and creams; razors and shaving cream, etc. I have three full floor to ceiling metal storage units in the basement with these boxes. Obviously I couldn't use all this stuff in a lifetime. I'll give a lot of the toiletries to the Salvation Army and share the office supplies with family and friends. Also, Travis is coming over on Monday to go through some boxes I've set aside and a few are filled with office supplies. I'll auction some of that stuff off.

I've been donating regularly to the Hospice Thrift Shop since my husband Vic died almost 2 1/2 years ago. Well, one of the volunteers sends out thank you notes once a month to donors. One day she called me and wanted to get together. She lives in my area. Her husband also died of cancer and initially she just called to say hi and told me I could call her if I needed to talk to someone. We had a very long chat and I liked her a lot. I told her I was still up to my armpits getting rid of Vic's things, but that I would call her when the dust settles. I called her yesterday and again we had a nice conversation. We agreed to get together in the next week or two. This is a first for me, reaching out. I think it's a good sign. BTW, her friends were trying to convince her to move to a retirement center and her experience was the same as mine. Also, in terms of finances, like me, staying in her condo was much more affordable. See, already we have a few things in common.

Planning on reading today. I've three 2 week books that I need to finish. One I'm half way through and the others I haven't begun.

Sending you all a big hug,

Gail

Alice: I'm so very sorry your MIL got scammed. That's awful. It really burns me up when I hear about such things.

Jean: What do you call cold? 40F? Cold in Wisconsin is -24 F.

Enjoyed my friends Birthday bash yesterday evening was a bit giggly on 3 wines, cant handle it like I used to.
My poor MIL has been scammed, thought she had found a nice guy to chat with a couple of weeks ago, yesterday he asked to borrow 1000 euros...I did warn her but she wouldnt listen I mean why would a 59 year old guy say he loved her, she is 83, I would kick him where it hurt if I could lay my hands on him.

Quiet weekend for us, Steve still decorating

Good gracious, where does the time go? Our oldest granddaughter is 21 today. I was there for her birth, Very special moment.

We won another package of steaks last night at the Legion meat draw. That's two weeks in a row! 8 steaks for summer BBQ's, but LO oking out at the light snow falling and the steam escaping the heat stacks, summer is a long way yet!

Good Evening:

Cleaned house today and made some acorn squash soup. It was really good. I've still got some for the weekend: squash, a carrot, cinnamon, chicken stock, black pepper, half an onion diced, and some butter. After everything was all cooked I used my immersion blender, MMM

You ladies don't know it but you are very inspiring. I did 3 different PT exercises today, two of which I haven't done for a few years. I could see right away that my range of motion has deteriorated greatly in my left shoulder. It hurt like the dickens but I did 3 sets of each and it hurt less with each set.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

A neighbor from Livonia, MI. died yesterday. Our son texted the Texas family. Whew! They keep dying. I know it is our age, but we are experiencing a tremendous amount of deaths.

Teaching music today was superb again. So much fun.

Temperatures rose into the high 60's. Great all day long in a nice hand knit sweater.

Walked during the school day to hit my 10,000 steps, and then Joe took me to our mall to walk. I am over 6 miles now. Pleased with that.

Can't believe I'm jealous of someone's mall, but that is unbelievable that you can do 10 k that easily. I looked up a church that isn't far from here and is equipped with an indoor track that is open to the community. That track takes 9 circles for a mile. I may try just to avoid the cold.

Sherry, I had a problem with my password last night so I still have to fix my goal. Will try to get the goal changed today. It is windy and colder so my walk will be abbreviated to say the least.

I hear the problems with sticking on a diet and dining out. We're going to a Mexican restaurant this evening. That is going to take me off my plan. Doctor appointment Monday morning so Will have to get right back.

I'm sorry for you UK ladies with that winter blast. I don't think you can even blame it on one of Sherry's Alberta Clippers. Hope you'll get some spring like days real soon!

SHERRY that Mall sounds wonderful. It is great you have this and I am sure it keeps you alert to all the new trends and sales. Sort of double pleasure. Bet it has some awesone coffee shops too. It would be a joy to have a backup system here but our mall is not that big.

I am resigned to the fact it will be impossible to keep my calories straight with company here all weekend. I think yesterday I doubled my calories entertaining. At some point it becomes rude not to eat. Last night we went to a big dinner and they bought me a cake to the table from a premier bakery. Although I did not eat a whole piece and did not bring it home, I did eat half a piece. The only veggie with the steak was potatoe augratin, deiicous and I ate them all When I walked in the restaurant I had almost 900 calories to enjoy..I think I passed that before the entree..LOL

Oh-h-h-h I would be in mall heaven to walk that mall. Fabulous! I pass the same stores over and over. When my daughter Pam and I take our evening mall walk, the vendors in the corridors recognize us by now, and just smile and wave. In the morning I usually get there before the stores open. My mall walk is just less than 1/2 mile for one circuit. So I go round and round, but it's comfortable in summer and winter.

Glad you can drive to this fabulous indoor walk.

yes, JEAN, it's massive.
"The West Edmonton Mall is the biggest shopping center in North America, and formerly the biggest mall in the world (until 2004). Aside from having more than 800 stores, two luxury hotels with individual country-themed room styles, and 100 restaurants, the WEM has an indoor amusement park called Galaxyland, an indoor lake and sea-life park that includes a life-size replica of Christopher Columbus’ Santa Maria (it's used for birthday parties), an 18-hole mini-golf course, and a regulation-size recreational ice rink that also functions as a practice space for the Edmonton Oilers hockey team. In other words—with a size equivalent to 48 city blocks or 104 football fields—it’s massive."

Lower floor is 3 km, so we do it twice each way around, hugging the outside walls, so right to all the doors, not just the shopping areas, and the upper floor is 4km. That makes the 10km. It has been officially ruled with a mileage wheel, so it could be sanctioned with the Volkssport Club. 10km is 6.4 miles. But there are NO HILLS!

I can not get my head around why one would log activities on Dashboard, but it was sure helpful the day I forgot to wear my Fitbit! Jean helped me out there.

GINNA, change goals was not under dashboard, maybe you caught that.

I am sorry you lost a dear relative. Death just keeps taking loved ones at this time in our lives. Each one hurts and helps us remember our time is limited here.

Teaching music today and tomorrow. Delightful. day was 4 sections of 4th grade. tomorrow is the 5th grade choir (53 singers) and one section of 3rd grade and I see one section of 4th grade a second time. I love singing, so It's easy to lead them. Today we enjoyed "This Land Is our Land!" Then we played music bingo.

Weather still gorgeous here, but Texas winter returning this weekend. Nice break.

Sherry
That's a huge mall if you only circle three times for 10K. Glad you can walk indoors.

Hugs for everyone.

Take care. Keep warm.

Thanks for that tip, Sherry. I have been having trouble with logging activities on Dashboard. I also would like to change my goal. On many days 10,000 is out of reach. 6 or 7 thousand would be better. It would really make me put out some extra effort on the days when I'm just being lazy. Today was easy to get 10,000, but that isn't often the case.

NORMA, I am sorry to of your loss. I am seeing dreadful weather out your way!

GINNA, I noticed on my app for Fitbit that along the bottom there are choices for Dashboard, Challenges, Friends and ACCOUNT. When I clicked on ACCOUNT, then GOALS, and then touch the GOALS line, you can change the steps goal. I have FITBIT ONE.

So good that you could get in your walk inside. It wasn't bad here so Dan, Koby and I walked at the river park. I love walking there because it is flat with nice scenery.
Jean, I hope you get the computer problems worked out. It is so hard and frustrating to be without that tool. I go to my tablet over and over every day. I do still miss my laptop. They get to be one of the family.
I've got to put dinner on the table now.
Try to get back later.
Sorry to hear of the loss in your family, Norma.
Alice, I didn't need the DVD today, but you are right I should get a new one.

As MissJaq says, don't pay the ransom, I escaped!

Heading out to walk 10k with some of my walking club buddies, we will be at the mall, outside walking treacherous right now.

Gosh, month almost over and I cannot lay claim to any progress on my part. Picked up my RCMP mug yesterday, learned the designer also does Police, Firemen, Military, and a dog in this unique design of words only. Boxes of mugs piled halfway to ceiling when I picked up the ones I ordered. It was a successful fundraiser for the family of Constable Wynn. He leaves behind 3 teenage boys and a wife.

Weather here in Alberta has been crazy warm, especially in southern Alberta. Any I get I send immediately to Donna in Montreal, she's always so appreciative. NOT!

Since I have not read, I cannot address anyone, so just have to update on my life. Terry has recovered from his fall, still 3 large bruises on his back where he bounced down the stairs. His stitches healed very well, I tell everyone my frying pan never did recover. emoticon

Ok, shoes and coat, it's below freezing out there, but not unbearable for the 20 minute drive into Edmonton. I am picking up another walker on the way.

Good Morning:

Thanks for clarification on the Fitbit.

I'll be running a few errands today and will also set up some file folders to get things organized. My paperwork is in many places throughout the house. Figure I'll set up a few folders every day till they're done. The rest of the day I'll get back to reading.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Gail

Sue: So glad Ralph will have 4 days to rest up. Your stew sounds great. Do you use beef or lamb?

Linda: Hope you're feeling better today after your recent tumble. Are you still sore and bruised?

Morning all

Norma, so sorry for your loss emoticon

Gail, my fitbit just measures my steps and sleep, not got one that does heart rate etc....yet lol

Delores, take it easy and have a couple of rest days.

We still have snow showers here and not much settled yet but they say my lunch time it will be really snowing so guess we will have some later, hope Ralph is home from work by then, he gets home around 6.20 and then he has his 4 days off so we can stay in and stay warm.

Just put a stew in the oven to slow cook and will do extra veggies with it, sticking to Slimming World plan and it seems to be working, not fast, but that is okay as long as it is moving in the right direction.

Off to put a few steps in the SS long time since I could do that!
Off to do some walking in the house today.

Hi all. I had an off day today. I think I have overdone things this week. Today it was dull and cold again and maybe it was just depression. I made chilli for dinner and then we watched the Notre Dame men's basketball team beat the number 2 team. Yea! Now I'm heading to bed. Goodnight

NORMA i am so sorry for your lost BIL. So sad because sometimes we know them longer than our own fmily members.

GAIL a fit bit is an instrument you wear to measure steps and other activities, heart rate etc. I am unfamiliar with it too but looked it up, It can be syn with the computer to track your progress.
It is usually warn like a watch.

ALICE we had a great Happy Hour.. About 300-600 too many calories thanks to 3 glasses of wine and a few ounces of almonds However, I did keep my feet on the ground.

Computer has hard drive issues. Software is working well. Cost of repair not a good investment for a 2009 iMac. Bad news! I like my own computer. It's my only USB port. Sad loss.

IPhone 5c is fine, Fitbit needed to be removed and reinstalled on phone to work properly. Happy to have Ftbit syncing as I go again. I did what I understood to do, glad genius knew a fix to try after mine. Didn't lose any data. Happy camper.

Well, it's been quite a day: mammo, library, bank, PT appointment; appointment with decorator. I treated myself to dinner at Denny's: grilled wild salmon, mashed potatoes and broccoli. It's been a while since I ate out.

I forgot to mention something astounding. When I went for my annual checkup yesterday they took my BP. It was 100/70. It's been ages since it was that low. (I was especially surprised since I had a couple of cups of strong coffee for breakfast.) I'm convinced it has a lot to do with the absence of stress that has come about in the last month or so. Resting, reading and watching TV was just what I needed.

Gail

Norma: So sorry for your loss. I guess as we get older it's bound to happen but it's never easy.

Jacqui: Have one for me too.

Jean: What is a Fitbit?

Glorious warm weather again today. Just soaking it up. 78F

Taking my computer in today. Still going to a blue screen for no visible reason. Need to see what's going on. For a while it was only when the top of the computer was hot, but now, it just dies for no reason.

My iPhone 5c quit syncing with my Fitbit. I've gone online and tried to solve this dilemma myself, but even restarting the Fitbit twice didn't work. What a conundrum!!
