Good morning from another sunny Dorset day!

Sherry, just do it! You won't regret having a fitbit they are fun. Then come and friend us on the Fitbit site and we can all see each other's steps. Maybe that's not such a good idea as I'll drop down my ranking if you are on there!

Ralph, you have made awesome changes to your life. Well done and keep at it, life is meant to be full of fun and happiness.

Hi all, I had a good day today. The temperature is still cool but the middle 70's are much nicer. In other words no jackets were needed today. We went down to the library again because another reserved book came in for me. I also browsed the new nonfiction and found a new country song book. I have decided to try playing guitar again. I haven't even touched it for about 10 years.

You all are doing a lot of discussing about Fitbit. My niece has one. She has always been "large" so I was astonished at her last picture. She has lose nearly 75 pounds and she swears by her Fitbit and some other online sites. She has become addicted to bicycle riding. I'm definitely going to get back on the bandwagon ASAP.

Ralph. You have done a wonderful job in turning your life around. Keep up the good work.

I need to get to sleep. Goodnight all.

My Fitbit is a healthy addiction, but it is an addiction. Really.

Pam misplaced her Fitbit One last week and tore her house apart for three hours. When she gave up, she found it on the driver's seat of her car where she had left it after returning to her car for something.

I put it on right after my shower, and check it throughout the day. My iPhone tracks my Fitbit for me. So I don't have to take it off to see how I am doing. I wear it until bedtime, and then relax.

You will love yours, I really believe that.

Job well done, RC. I am thrilled to have had the chance to know you.

Thanks for all the Fitbit info. It is a bit like joining WW, Afraid once I put the money out, I won't use it. But, from all I have read, that is not the case!

Those incredible machines seem to chomp up anything in their path. We stayed indoors while they screamed and chopped away. Kiwi was nervous for a bit but decided he'd rather be inside, too.

Pleased that the dead trees and branches are gone far, far away. emoticon

Wow! What a makeover for your life. You have done amazing things for yourself.

Congratulations.

Hello Cupcakes,

Today is the 14 year anniversary of my 3X bypass. I fell pretty good given the alternative.

In that 14 years I've beaten chemical addiction & alcohol addiction(although I still drink beer & some margaritas).

I've gotten married to a wonderful woman.

I've bought a home, gone back to school & joined a band.

My life is much more full & enjoyable since I've rejoined humanity.

I'm grateful...'nuff said.

Ah-h-h-h-h the tree service guys are done. The noise level was extreme while they cut the trees and branches down and then pulverized the branches. Big machines doing an incredible job. Glad the trees are gone.

My Pam wears her Fitbit One in her bra with no clip at all. She uses it without the clip and just drops it into her cup. Works fine for her. I only drop mine in the bra for dressy occasions. Otherwise mine is basically ON my shoe. I wear Balance shoes with the velcro straps. I wear my Fitbit One tucked inside the strap [upside down in case it slips out] using its clip. So mine rides between the shoe tongue and the velcro strap. I have worn it in pockets, clipped onto waistbands and clipped in the center of my bra also, but really prefer it on my shoe for the most "active" time it gives me.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My daughter-in-law Delores wears a Fitbit One and has washed and dried hers twice through complete cycles in her front loading machines. I do not recommend that, but hers came out working just fine. She clips her Fitbit One in her slacks and forgets to remove it. My son wears his clipped inside his pocket.
emoticon

Joe's cousins we visited in Florida both wear theirs in pockets. Mac gets more steps on his bc it flops around in his big cargo pockets while Lois gets normal steps bc hers is clipped inside the pocket opening. Lois swears that's why Mac gets more steps than she does.

thanks ANGELA. I like the idea of not washing it, or forgetting to put it on, so the bracelet solves that problem, but I am currently seriously considering the One.

My hearing aid comes with a remote that I will carry in cleavage, wonder how much I can get I there? emoticon

I have the Fitbit 1 and I bought my daughter the Flex as that was the one she had been eyeing up online. I haven't seen hers yet but I think it might be easier to wear something on the wrist rather than having to find a place to clip it. My other daughter has the 1 like mine and she clips it on her bra but I find that uncomfortable - guess I don't have enough cleavage for it to slip between emoticon Mine lives on the waistband of my skirt/jeans/slacks and in my bumbag (fanny pouch for our USA ladies) if I'm on a day trip.

On a plus point, they are not sold as being waterproof but mine spent 50 minutes in the river with me when we capsized our canoe in a storm and it still works perfectly!

It will probably too late for your decision but I will make a note to check our two tracker recordings when we get together next month for some walking.

Jean, do you have the Flex that you wear as a bracelet? Angela? What did you get your daughter?

The reviews I have read, unbiased reviews, seems to prefer the Fitbit One. I see you have to swing your arm freely with the Flex, keeping hands in pockets give inaccurate step should, also swinging arms and not walking give wrong readings. I already wear 2 bracelets on my left wrist, always.

Both have a great feature for me...the silent alarm. Currently, I need to tuck my cell phone into a nightgown to have the vibration alarm wake me up. I cannot hear an alarm. Most times I sleep poorly fearing the alarm will not wake me up.

I am really leaning toward the One, it tracks stairs, of which I have lots, read out shows on device.

Starting to feel comfortable with a choice. I gather now that Jean has one, not a Flex.

This is tough work!

Fitbit and Walgreens.

Did you know that if you shop at Walgreens and have their Balance card you can link your Fitbit to it and gain points for steps and those points change into cash off your shopping?

ALICE, What joy! Tommy and Daisy, visiting is wonderful, but having MARLEE is just sheer euphoria for you. I can just imagine your excitement. You are going to have the time of your life! Steve will have to keep you on the ground! I am just thrilled for you!
If you and Steve work together kicking that habit you will have a better chance beating this thing. I wish you both success, for sure.

JEAN. Those trees sound too dangerous, what a fabulous gift from Pam. We had an arborist in yesterday regarding a tree of ours. Turns out it is fine but she pointed out a neighbours tree that needs serious attention or it will be gone in 2 years. We had to pass thar bit if news on along with the ladies business card. She scaled back and forth over our 6 foot board fence like it had steps! I was amazed!

We are into a heat wave again, into the 80's which is warm for us, especially for as long as this. I have another 10km walk this evening.

Fitbit thinking........thanks Angela for your input also. I certainly know how JEAN loves hers. But who has the other one? Isn't there one other team member who has one? Is it Dottee?
I will be googling today again. I am certainly very close to this decision.

Fitbit may change your life. Yes, it is costly, but a worthwhile investment in yourself. I sincerely hope you go for it. You have done wonders with your walking buddies, but the Fitbit will keep you going between your major walks.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I did notice yesterday that August was up on the Spreadsheet. Thanks so much. I do keep a paper record in my Fitbit file, but the spreadsheet tallies up everything. My entries are done in pencil on paper here at home.
emoticon

Today finally the tree service is coming to remove two giant pines from our property, and take limbs off of a third enormous pine that drops huge branches. When we got home from Michigan there was a terrible amount of debris in the back from the live tree that is shedding limbs. Quite scary. I am so pleased that the tree service has us on their schedule today. Thanks to our Pam I don't have to be concerned about paying for this service. Yeah!
emoticon

We are supposed to have a "cold" front sweep through later this week so the highs will only go into the 80's. That would be grand. Hope it happens.

Coffee is done. Time to jump in the shower and get dressed for the day.

They really are great for inspiration and they log your steps directly into Spark and your food from Spark logs into the Fitbit site (if you want them to of course). I have used mine for a year now and love it.

I bought my daughter one for her birthday and it was delivered to her yesterday. She immediately got on the treadmill and walked 5,000 steps just so she had some steps logged already. She is the youngest daughter, who is insulin dependant diabetic and has neuropathy in her toes so needs to keep walking to up her circulation but only gently. We already have started a repartee going on the fitbit site with a little friendly competition.

Its hot here too at present and I have to stay out of the sun as I'm in the middle of treatment for some basal cell carcinomas on my arms so the treadmill comes in very useful. I had gotten into the doldrums what with no sun plus only gentle walking until I strengthen my strained quads to ease the strain on my knees. All I was doing was yoga and my quads exercises but today has changed that - at least until the next doldrums!

Have a lovely day all.

Weather changes so fast! No fireplace here tonight! It was 90 today! Waited till 7pm to do a 9 km walk, was joined by another member! I am so glad I joined this group!

$100 for a Fitbit, but looks like delivery is free.

Hi all, Today Leon and I had to put on hats and jackets for our walk. The temperature barely got to 64 today, overcast and windy. That was a record low for this date. We walked up to the duck pond and fed the ducks and geese.

We had only one warm day in the 80's last week. The rest of our weather has been cool to downright cold. Only 3 days this summer have been in the 90's. This has been a strange summer. I have tickets to a water park but it's been too cold to even think about going. Enough of my complaining.

I need to get to bed. Goodnight all.

Get a Fitbit already. You will surprise yourself with the motivation it creates. You know I love mine.

I was discouraged after giving my daughter Pam one for her birthday July 2013. But this winter she set a 1,500 mile goal for 2014 and got started. What a change it has made in her life. I am so pleased she stops by after work to take me to the mall for my second walk of the day. She walks in the parking lot by her job each day, and then joins me for a nightly walk.

SHERRY, I got some good news today. I had left a message with one of the office people at the oral surgeon's office and today, I got a message while I was at the Med Ctr having tests for Monday's appt at the Clinic. They said to call and make an appt and Dr. Billy (yep, that's his name) will do a biopsy before I have the fillings replaced. WHEW! It'll be a while, but it's not spreading, so I can wait. Got enough other to keep me busy, that's for sure!
By all means treat yourself to a fitbit! But, you will have so many steps and stairs, you might blow the sucker up!

Welcome home ALICE, LOLA, and DOTTEE. You have all been to the sea! I'm so very jealous. It's my favorite thing on earth!

DEB, tell me about this other type of chiropractor. I'm interested, IF Medicare pays. What is the difference in manipulation styles between the two doctors?

DELORES, we're having that hot and humid weather with daily threats of thunderstorms, too. Then today, I didn't get up to 70 but was still humid. It's always nice to hear that you and Leon take advantage of what your city has to offer.

REE, I agree with DOTTEE, you are a really funny lady!

JEAN, I'll bet your private area is pretty with or without color. But I know weeds are relentless.

Hi to everyone else. I'm thinking of you!

LOLA, really good to hear from you. Thank heavens for FB as we can always keep track of friends when they are not here on Spark. Of course, if they are not on FB, that is a bummer! And you KNOW who you are!

Family time is the best Lola, and no ever ever says they wish it never happened. It will be winter soon enough and we will all be here chatting up a storm and catching up with each other. Same as with Eldon, take advantage of this time while you can.

JEAN, I know you watch the SpreadSheet and likely also saw I have August ready to go too. I have started to make a note on my online calendar for the 27th of every month, that triggers my memory to get it up and running.

Dottee, it is funny how our habits change over the years. I never walked before 2007. I would find every excuse in the book not to walk with Terry. Now he cannot do any walking and I am gone on long walks all the time. Do you keep track daily? I can add your name back onto the Spread Sheet if you wish. I can look back to your last posts and have you continue with the last total, too.

My babies were 5 pounds 6 and a half ounces, and 9 pounds, 15 and a half ounces. Good thing I only had two if I was going to almost double sizes in kids at birth!

Looks like an 11km in my day yet. Not a cloud in the sky and it is already 80F. I might just hold off for a bit later in the day and into evening.

Still seriously considering a Fitbit. Now that I seldom work, I might find my daily count is low, but still think the motivation is there to get away from the computer! I did a quick estimate on my 16km yesterday and that is over 20,000 steps, but unless I walk every day, I likely am very low. The bedrooms are upstairs, the laundy is downstairs, so I would get some stair climbing in my day. I am sure JEAN would encourage me!

Dottee, do you have a Fitbit? Someone else does, who is it?

I came to make a grocery list, and you can see how far I got with that. It still sits at "onions". hmmmm, better get back to adding more to that list!

oh, wait, ALICE, I had to smile at you spending 6 hours driving. good grief! Actually, it was more like 6 hours sitting in a car, lol. Loved the pictures of you and Daisy Lee. Such a pretty girl!

Good morning -- I feel that I should introduce myself again. I did a quick run down some of the messages but didn't get a good read of what has been going on.

re my absence. Eldon has been feeling well and has been much more active lately. He has finished scraping all the paint off our concrete patio (10' x 20') and we repainted it with a longer lasting pool paint. Hopefully it will stand up to the rain and the sunshine. If not - tough luck. It has been so nice to have him able to be up and out of his chair and really doing productive things. I know he feels much better for moving more. I have pretty much let him go at his own pace, he has done almost all the work. It has kept me busy doing all the 'fetch and carry' stuff and help him move things around. He has fallen a couple more times but hasn't hurt himself, just needs help getting up off the ground again. It is a question of whether to move and be active with the chance of a fall -- or just sit in his chair and continue to do nothing. Moving seems to be the better option at this point.

We've had family company which was delightful and then spent a long weekend visiting our son down in northern California. They live right by the ocean, it is lovely!! Morning walks overlooking the water, evening walks watching the sun go down and the sunset reflected in the ocean. It regenerates the inner peace to watch the waters just roll and retreat.

Our DD and family come from Maryland Aug. 5. They will be here for about 3 weeks. Today I'm going to go work out in the garage to set it up as a playroom and get away for the kidlets. I can't believe how big they are getting. The littlest, Chloe, will be 4 while they are here and we're going to have a bit family birthday for her and for everyone else. Son #2's daughter, Sarah, will be 24. Can't believe that!! Sarah is going back to art school - she has such an amazing talent, is making a little money doing illustrations for books and doing posters for plays in a theater back in Maryland.

We had a record rainfall of 0.23 inches on July 23. It has only rained on July 23 two times in the past 100 years. The last time it rained on July 23 was in the '40s. For all the fuss about rain in Oregon it normally does not rain between July 4 and the end of September. Today is another bright blue sunny day. I'd better get my outdoor chores done before it gets warm again. It's about 70 degrees out there now. Wonderful!

I haven't been walking much lately, too many foot and leg issues to enjoy a long walk. I get my exercise around the house. Maybe that's why the ##s are beginning to creep back up again. Sigh.

Lola - in Oregon

Today is a good day to have a good day.

Oh, dear. That baby will continue to add weight each week he remains inside. I hope he delivers soon. My firstborn, Pam, was two weeks late and weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz. The doctor's comment was, "I thought your husband was that little man!" Tee hee hee. He was and is. Pam's brothers did not wait that long to deliver and each brother came out smaller and smaller. That last one was 6 lbs 13 oz. The same darling doctor delivered all four kiddos.

Good memories in the baby department.

Great walks recorded dear Sherry. Way to go!

Ralph
You continue to walk daily. Great job there!

Dottee
Happy for your great time with the grand babies. They add spice and fun to our lives.

I got a very good start on my walking again today. This morning I even got my stairs covered.

Still no tree removal guys here. They have been hired, but not shown up yet.

Today will be another Texas hot one Kiwi had his walk early so we can miss some of the heat today.

Have a delightful day.

Good Morning Ladies,
Sheila I was thinking of you when I wrote that post last night. Remember how you tried to convince me to walk and I kept protesting. Well, now I am walking 6500+ steps each and every day.

Delores we are supposed to have fall weather here for about 2 days and then it will warm back up. I don't mind. I love this kind of weather. It waters all my gardens and saves me a job.

Ree you are a laugh and a half. I sure hope your grandson's wife has that baby soon.

Alice sounds hot there. We are having storms today too. They predicted rain all day long.

I'm going to try to start tracking my food again. If I can make walking a habit, why can't I do the same with tracking?

Have a Marvelous Monday team!

Hi all, I'm sorry I didn't get on here yesterday. It looked like a wonderful day and so Leon and I decided to take a nice long walk. Like I said it "looked" but it was in the 80's and high humidity. After just a little but of walking I couldn't breathe so I had to take a break. We decided to shorten the walk but I still had to stop 2 or 3 more times before we could get home again. As a friend of mine on Facebook said--just rain already. I felt terrible by the time we got home so I just threw a pizza in the oven and after we ate I took a nap. When I woke up (I tried to go to bed but you know how it goes when you nap too much.

Today we went to church and when we returned it looked good outside. After I got dinner finished there was a thunderstorm warning out for our county (here's the rain). Here in town we got rain but a little thunder and lightening. However south of town, like where my friend and my kids live, there was high winds and hail about the size of quarters to golf balls. We had had a temperature of a high 70 and after the storm went through it was in the low 60's. The weather people are talking about lower 50's for our overnight temperatures. Hey how about we trade some of our moisture and coolness with those of you in Texas?

Well I have to get to bed so goodnight all.

Welcome back Dottee, I was thinking of you today. Our walk was in a town with the country's largest pysanka, and I knew you would know exactly what that was. This huge Ukranian Egg was our start point for our walks today. We did somewhere around 16km in the blazing sun, and it was only Friday I put the fireplace on to take the chill out of the family room. Weird weather! I am on the deck in the zero gravity lounger, feels good not to have any weight on anything!

Hi all,
I just got back from my annual family vacation at Hampton Beach. Alice and Jean we too were stuck in bumper to bumper slow moving traffic on the way home. Thank goodness I wasn't driving. It was a wonderful week doing all sorts of fun things with the babies and older grandchildren.

We had a game night one evening and played UNO for prizes. Then I had a contest to see who could find the most unusual rock. The winner got $5. I also gave the other kids a dollar each so they wouldn't feel bad.

I was able to keep up my walking (6,500 steps a day) except for one day. emoticon Some days I walked along the beach for an hour and didn't even realize it had been that long.

It was a wonderful vacation but it is good to be home, too.
{{{HUGS}}} everyone.

Welcome back. Joe and I had that experience on our trip, too, trapped in two and a half hours of non-moving traffic in Gatlinburg, TN trying to get to the freeway. Frustrating for sure.

Your walks are great. So glad you have walking companions. My mall time sails by when I can hook up with a walking buddy, or go with my daughter.

Afternoon

My house is actually shaping up. Feels grand, too. After vacation, it was depressing to see so much had to be handled. Now it feels good. Slowly, surely I chipped away at it.

Landscaping. Yuck. Mine is horrid. So many weeds where I want beauty. The natural part of the yard is fine. Well, two dead trees that are coming out, but otherwise acceptable. The privacy area could certainly use some pretty stuff, but don't know when I'll feel like putting money out there. The weeds are back out there. Rats!! So weeding would help a bunch, but no color out there for now.

I hesitate to blow money on prettiness when I think my Michigan family may need financial help getting to Texas this fall for Megan's big day. I won't offer until I see how much they can contribute to their own trip. We would love to have them here, but it has to be their priority, too.

Sending hugs to everyone.

Hello everyone.

Gayle - I hope the chiropractor helps you out. Here is a thought if you are interested or if they have this type of chiropractor in Ohio. It is an Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor. It is very precise type of work. I had seen a "normal' chiropractor for 10yrs, spent lots of money, he made me dependent on him. I was bad to not walk away, but thought there wasn't anything better to help me manage my pain. I found this other type - that was only two blocks away from the other one.. After ONE visit, my body was like night and day. I am not dependent on her. She doesn't want people to be dependent on her. She wants to see people well. Anyway, if you are interested in more information I can see if there is one in your area and give you a link to learn more about it. My husband was not seeing results from the old chiropractor, and when I came home after my one visit with my new one (Cheryl). He was in awe and couldn't get to her fast enough for himself. Well, enough of that right now. If you want or anyone else wants more info, I can share more. Sorry. I totally believe in this and I am actually a hard sale!

Sheila - Yup! I did end up going to the Market! I got a chair massage from my pal there. (My therapeutic massage therapist (Lisa) has a booth there... she sells aromatherapy stuff, etc.. along with doing some chair massages.) So, had her work on my neck/shoulders, even though I had just seen her for my normal Friday night all body massage. I ended up being there longer than planned. Walked around the place without my cane. Of course Lisa said - this is your cardio and your P.T.....for free! I didn't buy anything, since I hadn't planned on really stopping by when I left the house. I had left to go buy a green chai tea !

I love those rainbow carrots! I am going to have to plant some next year!!!
Hope you had a good walk.

Gayle - Yeah... she has had some crazy weather this year. But, I think most of the areas have. Just interesting!

Did some light yardwork when I got home.

I shouldn't say I "enjoyed" reading your post Gayle , but it is good to know what's going on in your life with regard to doctors, dentists, and sex therapists. Oh, wait, was that a secret? BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA , had to do it, usually my sense of haha kicks in later in the day. It is good you can work within the parameters of the chiro treatments. I do wonder about the silver filling being the cause of your mouth issues. How long have you had them? The fillings, that is. Be awful to go through all that only to find that is not the cause.

DEB, did you get to the market? We have a very very large one here. Too big actually. I try to go once a summer only. It's quite pricey. But I did pick up a bag of "rainbow" carrots my visit a couple weeks ago. Orange carrots, yellow and purple.the purple had an orange centre, looked great as carrot coins. They all tasted like carrots, just nice for a bit of flare to the plate.

JEAN, sounds like you will do just fine without your own car. Great idea to get help with housework. You must have had a great mall walk too!

And that is my day too....walk! I am off to help walk a couple walks I created in a new town. Well, the town is not new, the walks are, sheesh. We will get in 20k for sure I imagine. I can map out a route on the computer but once you actually see the area, routes change adding to the miles for the day. Our club rules require we have 2 walks available, one around the 5/6 km mark, then a 10/11 km route.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Happy Saturday everyone. My Saturday is going to be slow. I've been busy all week and want a break.

NORMA, what an inspiration you are. If I could only act on that inspiration!

Hi, DEB! So good to see you posting. I'm in OH and have had pretty wild temp swings this summer like your sis. It's ok though after last winter. That was a real bear here.

JEAN, you're doing great on re-losing those pounds! You're pretty inspirational too.

SHERRY, glad you have that fireplace to cozy you up. Is Terry home yet?

ALICE, your time out with Daisy sounds perfect. She's going to go through her lifetime with some fantastic memories of you!

DELORES, I know exactly how you feel about watching your team play baseball. Mom used to want me to watch the Indians with her, and I would ask her if she wanted them to lose.

RALPH, where are you?????

Hi to the British Belles.

I'm reading faithfully, but I have nothing going on here other than doctor's appointments. Very boring for you. I'll update you now, so if you are sick of it, stop reading now! emoticon

I went to the new chiropractor last Monday. It was a very thorough exam. I even had x-rays taken. She, the doctor, said I was a mess. I knew that, now what? She proposed a therapy program for me. It will be kind of costly, but Medicare only covers the adjustment and this includes ultrasound and electric stimulation. But, I seem to have a little extra money right now (don't know how) and feel this is a wise way to spend it!

I will be seeing her twice/week for 4 wks, then once/week for 4 wks, and so on. Eventually, I'll be at once/month like a few years ago. I hope it all fits in with all the other doctoring I have this summer! I hope this will let me start a walking program again.

I still don't know what I'm going to do about the replacement of all my silver fillings! Don't want to think about it.

I have the pre-testing for the appt for the surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic (for the growth on my parathyroid) at my local medical ctr on Monday. I hope they go better than the last time when I had to cancel the Clinic appt.

I know I'm boring you all to death, but this is my life right now. I do very little for fun besides watching Netflix on my new tv. Howard took me out to a fish fry last night. That was fun. And I have a wedding reception next Sat night.

Take care and keep cool, warm, or happy in your weather.

I for one am going to keep our sunshine and warmth. Sorry! We have too many gray and cool days here, so these are precious. Well, at least to me anyway!

My sis lives in Minnesota and the weather there was really odd for that state this year. (She hasn't lived there all her life, but moved from various states due to hubbys job). So, there now since the company headquarters is there.

Let's see. What are the plans for us today! AH.. Saturday! :)
I may go to the Farmers Market sometime today. We do have a b-day party for a 5yr old (neighbor friends), that we were invited to, but I just don't know if I really want to go! Will see about that later. Maybe later, but not for the whole time. Who knows.
Other than that, recoup from my therapeutic massage last night. I am a little achy this morning.

Now, if my sneezing would stop. Not sure what is bothering my nose all of a sudden this morning! But I am done with it already ! LOL

Chatter with ya all later!
Have a great day.
Deb

Had a grand walk in the mall this morning. With that and Kiwi's constitutional I am nearly at my 10,000 step goal for the day.

My next chore this morning is to clean the greenhouse window in the kitchen. It gets dusty more than anything, and needs freshening up from time to time. I am slowly working my way through the house and chores that are needed to make it sparkle once more.

After I give up my car in another two years, I am going to have help with housework. I have promised myself. Since I don't drive much anymore, giving up the car is no big deal. I can use Joe's once mine is gone, so I am steadfast in my resolve to let it go. I didn't drive on our entire vacation, and only got behind the wheel this week to take Megan on a fun filled shopping trek.

Have a great weekend. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wish we could send you some of this heat in exchange for some of your cold. Yikes. The Polar Vortex that swept through Michigan while we were there was unreal. 50F with no warm clothes? We managed, but it was different for sure.

Up and on spot this morning. We washed both cars already. Laundry is going. We're off kilter on scheduling a bit from the trip. Things will work themselves out.

I lost another half pound. Yeah!! Eating right and walking my behind off is working. So I am back to 124, and closing in on the weight I reached before the trip.

Have a great weekend.

Hi all, We went to the concert in at the fountain as usual. This time the band played Blues/Soul and Rock. They apparently are a very popular local band because there were a lot of people there. I completely enjoyed myself since the weather was nice-- partly cloudy and not too hot.

Later today we went to the library since I had a book waiting for me. We then came back home and watched part of the Cubs game. They started losing so I tuned out. Eventually they did win the game. I swear that the only win their games when I'm not watching.

I'm heading to bed to bed. Goodnight all.

I am impressed if you lost weight while visiting family.
Great job! I had good intentions, but they went up in smoke the 3rd day.

Enjoy your time away. Your weight may back up a bit, but do your best to keep the gain small. I gained three pounds in my 11 days away from home. I have 1.5 of them already gone, and will continue to work on the last pound and a half.

Don't beat yourself up, just do the best you can.

Morning
Another wonderful day unfolds. The sun is shining. No aches or pains. Whew!! It's all good.

The weight I put on in such a short vacation is slowly slipping away. didn't want those new pounds to get too comfortable here. Eating better, of course. Walking my tail off, too. That's what works for me.

Joe is smiling more today, and he ate his breakfast, so I hope he's on the mend from his congestion.

Time for Kiwi's first walk so off I go.

Sending hugs for all

Wow, you ladies all sounds so active (treadmill, tea, bike, LONG walks) its just great for inspiration.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. We had a wonderful time at the spa although the look on my DH's face when asked which fruit juice he would like for his "delicious welcome drink" was a picture. He was rather expecting something of the fermented variety! He quickly grabbed a menu to check they did serve wine with meals!

The room was beautifully decorated with a private outdoor area and a little lounge. We spent time in the sauna, indoor pool, outdoor vitality pool and hydrotherapy pool. I went in the steam room (DH hates steam rooms) and the experience shower - now that was an experience! I had to dash out when the iced water hit my head and took away my breath! We never made it to the gym - now I wonder why?!

It was a very long drive both ways and we had to be back for some internet fibre installation on the Wednesday so couldn't stay over with DD. We did break the drive up to have lunch at a lovely, quaint old English pub.in Wiltshire.

Back into the full flow of work now - we have so much to catch up with before 16th September when we go back to Florida! Living in two places sounds exotic but it is rather exhausting too.

Have a nice day everyone, stay cool in this amazing summer heat!

Oh my! You ladies are nuts! Love it!!!!
Okay - here we go!

Yiddle.... Hot there I see. Hope you had a good walk!
Sheila - Were you able to go for your walk? If so, hope it was great.
Norma - What did you do first? Tea or Treadmill. I see that could be BLOG all in itself! That would be a fun one.

Okay - for you peeps wanting to know where I LIVE! I am in Washington State! Greater Seattle area. I am about 50 miles south of Seattle.
Nope - no "EH's" here! LOL

Okay - an eventful day at work. Some interesting stuff. My job is ever so different from day to day, even though just like any day - it can be mundane. I so wish I could work part-time or retire. Oh well!

Any other questions that you peeps want to know about me? Hmm.
Married 15yrs, got married later in life. First marriage for both of us. No kids.

Okay - I have to go watch Project Runway - new season tonight! It's on now.. Talk to ya tomorrow night!

Have a great day/evening ya all! (No, I am not southern).

Hi all, sorry I have not been on lately. Monday I was too tired to do much of anything. We did go down to the plaza with our own lunches and then on to the library. Tuesday was a heatwave so I didn't go out. We walked in the hallway and cleaned house. We did go out and sit in the shade for about half an hour. Wednesday I had a meeting to go to at 1 pm but that was all I did outside. My daughter came over very late (after midnight) to return some money she had borrowed so I had a hard time getting to sleep.

Today we went shopping since I had been broke since she was supposed to return the money before this (which is why I waited so late for her to bring the money). Leon wandered away from me in Walmart so I got a little upset but things cooled down. He had gone looking for a restroom but couldn't find one so he just kept walking around. I led him to a restroom and all was fine. I finally found him and I led him to a restroom and then everything was back to normal. I got back in line to get my drugs and then got the things on my shopping list. But that was frightening for me.

Well it is now time for me to head to bed. Goodnight all.

Already 86F degrees this morning. Temperature climbing.

Kiwi and I had a nice walk about before the sun heated things up.

Then Joe drove me to the mall even though his chest is congested. I bumped into a favorite walking buddy there, and we walked for an hour. So I am nearly at my 10,000 step goal for today.

Joe has returned to bed. Of course I am worried about him. That's my job!

Do we know where Deb lives? Let me see, she is an hour behind me so that has to put her in Pacific time zone, right? I am assuming American, as she has not said "eh" yet. Be easier if ya just told me, Deb, BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA . I could be at this for weeks narrowing down all the Lowe's in western USA.

If you are wondering about us, or where we live, actually, Deb, most of us have it underneath our posts in the "signature box" from your home page.

I think most of us write how we talk, so you fit right in. Nobody puts on airs here, lol. We'd trip ourselves up somewhere along the way, lol. So, for instance, I laugh a lot. My posts are full of lol or tee hee or some silly giggle. It's because I live in Alberta Canada where we can have snow in May and again in September. Have to laugh to keep sane emoticon

Better go to bed in case I am awake at 3am again talking to our UK gals, ALICE, SUE and ANGELA. (ALICEANDANT, NOWISTHEHOUR, and BUBBLYFISH). Cannot believe I forgot Sue's stage name, I will have to go look and then edit, haha. Oh right, NOWISTHEHOUR! Sheesh.

I am going to bed even without Delores or Dottie telling me it's bedtime!

I am going to keep it somewhat simple tonight. I am tired and just got on the computer here (it is 9:45pm).

I did a very quick scan over the posts and need to read them closer when I can take more time.

Yes - I do work. HAHA! You are so funny! I work full-time, then have my "health" appts, massage 1.5x a week (one whole body, and the other just my legs to help me still recover from an injury 2.5 years ago (getting out of bed). Yes, you heard me right! That was awful and extremely painful and off to the ER at 2-3am!

Anyway...Work and my appts keep me busy. I am finally getting some breakthrough and getting more active and independent, but not where I want to be...YET!

Thanks for the comments on the kitchen!
Yes, the countertops - that is just from Lowes, and is fairly inexpensive, but looks expensive!
Oh yea, we LOVE the floors. Have had compliments on that. Seeing it in person is a whole other story!

Okay..I am signing off. Tired. Off to work tomorrow. Night night all. I will touch base tomorrow. Have a great morning/afternoon/evening...depending on your timezone!!!

So, you like my writing? Hmmmm. Are you being serious or silly or a little bit of both! I tend to want to write, like I may talk. Now, if I am at work, I have to think it through and make it much more professional! Ewww... LOL

Hm-m-m-m gorgeous new hair style. Way to go.

Wow! Your weight loss is inspiring.

I accomplished good things today. Got the yard debris out after the garbage pickup, but it will keep in the huge container until next Wednesday, and that's OK.

I registered our cell phones into the "donotcall.gov" list again. We are getting way too many calls. Takes a while to stop the calls, but enough is enough.

Got a good walk in the mall this morning, and two doggie walks with Kiwi.

Joe has a bad head cold. He didn't nap the entire time we were away, and his body caved. Darn!!

I have the energy to accomplish more, but want to keep the place quiet so Joe can get some rest. He's not much on using medications, so he'll just sleep it off.

My dear Pam hired the landscaper she uses on her property management business to remove a 50' pine tree on my property that is next to our neighbor's driveway. Can't let that darn thing drop any more limbs over there. Could be dangerous for cars or folks.

SHERRY We would welcome you both with open arms, but lets not never say never.
Your hair sounds very modern and chic my dear...over here they are doing the bottom a different colour and call it dipping I told them my friend Sherry did that a couple of years ago...trend setter a!

What fun you are having ALICE and DAISY LEE! Dayna and I would fit in nicely, tell Steve to double the order of a fish and chips, we are on our way!

SUE, sounds like your Ralph was plum "cream cracker". Love that! Hope he is better now.

NORMA, you are on inspiration! Must just about be at goal now! I forgot to look at your entire post, but will when I hit POST.

I got my hair fancied up, touch of copper red in front, I know I am getting old, but not going quietly! Picked up some new makeup, I will be a new woman!

JEAN, I knew you would find your MOJO, and sounds like retail therapy and fun with Megan was all that was needed! I enjoyed seeing Megan post on FB that she was with you. Charming granddaughter.

Supposed to have coffee with some friends today, but no walking plans yet.

Hi gang, Daisy and I had the most lovely day, got a train to the end of the pier and back, not much at the end but a cafe and the lifeboats.
Then Daisy took me to her favourite restaurant Bobby Joes, OMG dont know how I have ever missed this it was great, 1950s USA style place with a jukebox and the old booths, all the waitresses wore the 50s dresses and make up and the food was excellent I had a BLT sandwich and waffles with maple syrup.
We then went to the aquarium, very interesting, I could hardly walk the length of the seafront back i was cream crackered.
Managed to stop off at the shops for Daisys birthday present...roller skates and pads, its not until August but thought she deserved an early surprise, of course she wants to go to the park tomorrow and try them as she cant get a speed up in the garden.
Steve is bringing in fish and chips as cant raise the energy to cook

HOPE YOUR ALL HAVING A GOOD AS DAY AS ME

Morning
We slept in today. Very unusual. I think we both needed it.

Garbage pickup is today, and I have some yard debris I need to get out, so I have to scurry a bit, to take my shower, walk Kiwi, and drag stuff to the street for the garbage pick up. Oh, well. It won't stink, so if I miss this week, it can go next week. Not sorry we slept a bit longer.

Morning all, sort of missed yesterday. Had to do all the shopping and cleaning at parents myself as hubby had a 24 hour thing! So got home shattered and then making sure he was okay.We think it was too hot at work the day before and he was moving furniture and not drinking enough water,so wiped him out, so he drank lots of water yesterday and stayed in the cool and is as right as rain this morning.

Sherry busy making new walks, trying to fix the message board reply thingie and getting some sleep, woo hoo

Alice, pleased the meds are working better for you

Hi back to you Gayle

Glad the therapy helped, but it's tragic that sometimes we have to make choices about pain relief, or other needs.

Today was fun with Megan. Guess I'll get my mojo back, and get moving again.

Tremendous walking; first in the mall after breakfast, then shopping with Megan and finally back to the mall after Pam stopped over and the three of us returned to the mall for our evening walk.

Didn't accomplish much on the home front, but retail therapy was fun.

AMMAMMA, thanks for asking about me. Communication problems kept me from getting my pre-consultation testing done, so I had to cancel and reschedule the appointment with the surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic. The new appt is for Aug 4 and I sincerely hope all goes as planned and I will then get a date for the surgery. As for the TV, we exchanged it for another new one this past Saturday, and, so far, it's working beautifully.

ALICE, have fun with Daisy! I want to go with you on the train ride!
So glad to hear your legs are feeling better.

SHERRY, you can't hide from me!!! Your walks sound gorgeous. I can't even get around my .25 mile sidewalk! Hopefully the chiropractor will help and I can get back to walking. But it's been pretty hot and humid for much of the summer so far and that is NOT ideal walking conditions.

DEB, so good to see you here. I looked at your kitchen also and it's gorgeous! I especially like the countertops. Well, and that floor!

Hi to everyone else, JEAN, DOTTEE, DELORES, BARB & ROGER (if you're still reading), JOJO, LOLA, ANN, GINNA, RALPH, SUE's 1&2, ANGELA, LYNN, GINNA, who have I missed?

I went to a new chiropractor yesterday. It was kind of gruelling because I had to have x-rays done and it HURT! (Standing is not my strong suit!) But the electro stimulation on the lower back and the ultrasound treatment they did on the upper back and neck really helped. But, Medicare will only pay for the adjustment, and the other therapies they want to do cost $20 each visit. That would be do-able if it were only once a month, but I have to go again tomorrow then after that, who knows.
