Jean, hope things are easing off for you and that you start to feel better, real soon.

Hubby back at work today so not much happening here, just cooking and reading today, will leave the cleaning until tomorrow.

Evening
Not through this mess yet. I hoped it was over yesterday, but not so. I am still nauseated, and my head ache comes and goes. I couldn't keep ibuprofen down this morning. Didn't expect that at all. I'm not exerting myself, just laying low for another day. I had my flu shot, but. I know the flu shot does not protect us from all strains of flu.

Nasty business. emoticon

I hope you are taking it easy today, Jean! It sounds as if you have a monster of a bug. I'll be thinking of you. You probably won't have trouble getting some sleep today after that miserable night. The yarn on the scarf has calmed down some, I hope I can stem a little more relaxation into it. Good luck with the shawl.

Alice, I did get lucky with the email. I waited a few hours and miraculously the messages had downloaded. No geeks needed!

I've got to go out and walk with Kobe. I need some cardio today.

Hope your snow is going back where it came from, Gayle.

Oh, dear, Oh, dear.
Very ill throughout the night and this morning. The nausea and splitting head ache were ferocious. Much, much better now. I got some coke to stay down at 2:00PM. I've had some ibuprofen and chicken soup. I think I am through this mess.

No walking or cleaning today. Just huddled under the covers all day.

Ginna
I hope you get your knitting sorted out. The shawl I am working on curls at the bottom, too. I'm hoping I can press it out. I've deliberately loosened the stitches at each edge, and pulled the edges to stretch the yarn there, and it seems to help a little, but the bottom still curls up. I like my shawl - - especially the colors. No knitting today.

Good news, Alice fixed her computer without getting the "Geeks!" The Geeks over here are quite pricey. Now I'm going to have to try my luck on this side with AT&T. My email won't download my messages. Dealing with AT&T can be a real pain in the behind.

Delores, we are jealous - tickets to the Notre Dame game. DH is such a fan that we'd be going if we had to take a dogsled from Atlanta. I went to a game or two there when I was in school. - very memorable. I'd love to hear the band in person again.

I'm going to try to find my Sparkpage to play a picture of Reese's scarf for Jean. I am having trouble with it. I can't get it to stay flat. It wants to curl rather like a bad hair day. In the picture I have it pinned. I used Berroco Vintage and it does have some acrylic which doesn't have the memory of pure wool. I've blocked with steam and water.

Hi again, Right after I hit post I got a phone call from my friend Bob. He got 2 tickets given to him for Saturday"s Notre Dame football game. I have never gone to a Notre Dame football game. The weather is supposed to be warmer (read rain instead of snow but still a little cold). It may even rain so I will have to buy one of those ponchos to try to keep dry. Our major problem is getting there and getting home. That is if those tickets will really work. I'm not sure I really want to go since I have so many things to do to get ready for Thanksgiving but it is Notre Dame. We shall see.

I am heading for bed now so goodnight all.

Hi all, Today I have been doing cleaning and launder today. Remember the lake effect snow the weather people were talking about for today. . .well it never happened. It didn't turn out to be a bad day so I could have picked up the few things I need for my Thanksgiving dinner but got the place in shape instead. We will pick up the stuff tomorrow by bus since it will be a little warmer and probably only a little snow.

Wow! I forgot about my American Sewing Guild Meeting. So no cleaning yet. I have a hair cut appointment in a few minutes.

Meeting was fun. We brought our goodies to show off from the quilt festival. So many lovely projects to drool about. I took my supplies that have not begun to become anything yet. Lots of grins and smiles as we shared our purchases.

I just took a dry-up coricidin pill. Nose has been dripping again. Course I didn't sleep worth a darn last night and that makes for uneasy health. Kept waking up restless. No reason, just happens sometimes. Yes, I drank some hot milk with a biscotti. Looked at online articles for a while, and then returned to bed.

Cleaning waits patiently. Oh, well!!

Good morning. I hope you have a good day with the cleaning project, Jean . We HAVE to do our rec room. I can't even stand to ride my stationary bike in there. My neighbor brought me about 4 People Magazines to while away the time on that bike. Funny thing, I seldom know who is being written about in those now.

I have to block several knitting projects today - not my favorite part of the project. Hope getting them done will give me a sense of accomplishment. See you all later.

Love your sense of humor. Hope you enjoyed your nap.

Norma
A very productive day indeed. Way to go.

I am still walking morning and evening in the mall, and in-between with Kiwi.

Today I relaxed reading stuff on line. Wasted two full hours. I cannot believe I did that.

I have to break that routine and do some cleaning here. Our home is sanitary, but if I wait too long, then cleaning can be a real chore.

Tonight I knit for a couple of hours. The triangular shawl is not easy for me, but it's coming along. I'm trying to get it done by November 30th which is the end of the November StashBuster knitting challenge. Not really sure I can finish the shawl by then.

Since my library book is due the next day, I may have to switch priorities in time to actually read the book before I return it. My 822 page library book, "The Luminaries" by Eleanor Catton is due back Dec 1st, and I haven't started it. Even renewed it once already.

Pleasant dreams everyone. emoticon

All is well here.

Celebrating anniversaries is magical and wonderful. Glad you had a happy time together.

Still chilly here. Those of you below freezing would have a good laugh at how I dress to walk Kiwi when it's in the 40's. Not only my layered inside clothing, but I add a down-filled finger tip coat, hat, gloves and a fuzzy scarf. Kiwi is so pokey some days, I just get chilled waiting for him to smell all the various "roses" on his journey. Joe laughs at me, but HE doesn't take the little darling out and wait for him to perform. So I get comfy and then go out and patiently wait while my little friend does his thing.

I suppose some of you only add a sweater in sunny 40 degree weather. I'm a confirmed wimp.

No substitute assignments until February. Oh, well. I hope to get some still. Maybe as the staff gets closer to Christmas without all their chores done, they'll call me. We'll see.

After my mall walk this morning, we drove to Trader Joe's to get my cranberry/orange relish. I want it for Thanksgiving, and the regular super market is not offering it yet. With that bought, I am all shopped out for Thanksgiving. Yeah! I am pleased. Trip by trip to the local market I picked up the necessary items for our feast. I am ready for a stress-free dinner.

It looks like only eight of us will gather here this year. Youngest son's family is gathering at their lake house.

Thankfully, ALICE, it's not me with that snow. That much snow is plain dangerous!

Terry was visiting with family for most of the summer, but did remember to send a lovely card. So, he remembered, just was not here, so we went out and celebrated late. He can return to top of your list now.

Sue, don't feel bad about missing my anniversary, --- so did Terry. emoticon He was away in September.
My step count was similar to yours, at least you looked, I was afraid to. I have lots of excuses, if you need any, I can loan you some. emoticon
I can answer for you ALICE about the miles question, and yes, this little gadget gives lots of info, including miles.
Can you imagine getting 4 feet of snow in a day? Cannot believe that mess in Buffalo, NY!

Morning all

Did just over 3000 steps yesterday, which is rubbish compared to Jeans 23,000 lol, but as I haven't been doing anything it is a start, now to add a few more each day. Thanks to Alice for the phone call so that I got a few in while walking up and down while talking to her lol.

Barb, how is your sister doing, scary for her?

You can all keep your snow, even our weatherman showed what is happening over there, and it looks awful.

Sherry, have I missed your anniversary? Sorry, hope you had a good one and enjoyed your Italian meal.

see you later

Barb, good thing your sister went in to the ER. proves we should not ignore warning signs.

Delores, cannot believe your snow! What a horrible weather system.

Jean, with those temperatures, you will need all the sweaters you have knit!

ALICE, salt or arthritis acting up in those fingers? Salt would not produce soreness, arthritis would though. So sorry to hear when you have pain.

NORMA, great going with TOPS! Had a good chuckle over your horrid day, glad today was better!

Gayle, did you finish that book?

Went out for a belated 47th anniversary supper tonight. Very nice Italian restaurant close to home.

Working on a fix for that lousy weather from the Artic, better days ahead. ( I hope).

Hi all, I have been staying inside as best as possible since the wind chill has been sub zero the past 3 days. I have been doing a lot of reading and watching of the tv. I have been going to our new exercise room every day for half an hour.

Today my best friend asked if we could get together before she goes to her brother's for Thanksgiving. I needed to pick up some groceries but the weather has been too dreadful to think of walking outside. So.....she took us shopping for things I needed and then I fed her some pizza and we then played a few games of trivial pursuit. She just went home and now I will be heading to bed a shortly.

Barb, I am so sorry to hear that your sister is in the hospital. Those stints in her heart should help her and she should be doing much better very soon.

The rest of you girls need to keep behaving well. Sherry, Norma and all you with fit bit you have this activity recording thing down pat. I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow. We won't here. They are forecasting 2-3 more inches on top of the foot and a half already on the ground. And our temperature won't be above 20 not counting whatever the wind will be like. Well goodnight for now. :-)

So sorry your sister is not doing well. I'm glad she got to the ER, and then stayed overnight. It's good they are on top of her issues to help her out.

Way to go on losing another 1.6 pounds. Keep plugging. It's going away just like you want it to.

Good afternoon all,
I thought I would pop in and post a little bit.
My sister is the hospital now. She went in Sunday afternoon and wasn't feeling good. We were sitting in church and I notice she was not able to sit still and our pastor was just finishing the sermon and I was about to ask her if she was feeling all right, but I asked her after church and she said she felt real funny, it was like a heart flutter and it went around her neck, she said it felt really weird, but she said she was feeling better and if happened again she was going over to the ER because she just didn't like the way it made her feel so we decided to go to lunch with our DSIL. We were talking and laughing and having a good time. When she got home her youngest son was fixing her furnace and she told him what happened in church and he told her if it happens again he would take her to the ER and it wasn't to long, she called and told me her son was taking her to the ER, it happened again so she went and they were just going to keep her over night for observation and she was to come home. I didn't think that it was going to happen, I knew they were going to keep her a little bit longer, the DR gave orders for her to take a stress test and her nurse came in last night to tell her that the stress test was abnormal and the DR ordered a catheter for this morning and he put in four stints on the right side and one on the left side of her heart, DR said she did well, but she needed her rest today and will be able to come home tomorrow. I am going up for a little while tonight. Roger and I want her to come for some recovery time, here, after all she would be by herself, but she wasn't sure if she wants to. I told her then I would stay with her because I didn't want her to be alone.

It sure is cold here. brr! The chill is ten below, as I said before I really don't like winter. Hey! we are having a heat wave Sunday. Our temp is going to be 50 degrees according the weather report we just on the radio.

Well I better scoot out of here for now. I don't know how long it will be before I get back to talk to you all.

I will make sure that the sandman comes and sprinkle his magic dust on all of to make sure you all get a good night sleep.

Lots of emoticon all around,
Barb1

Back from lunch. It is still cold (low 30's - it was 31 when I got home - has inched up a bit since then), the brisk wind added to the delight on Marietta Square and to top it off I had to wait for a long train to pass on my way to the car.

Sherry, I think I need a trip to Alberta to warm up.

Do we have anyone in this group residing in Buffalo. One friend there has recently sold her house to move to FL, but she hasn't moved yet. Bet she's packing! That is just too much snow. The good thing for us is a warming trend is supposed to be here on the week end.

Lucky lady, JEAN! The bottom dropped out here overnight. Today's high MIGHT be 17°. Add to that 20 mph winds, and you have a deep freeze! The sun is shining...like THAT'S going to help!

Not often do I get to say, "SHERRY, send me some of your heat!".

ALICE, LS and I are sooooo proud of you. Flap those coattails, honey!! I'm reaching as high as I can! emoticon

Morning from a chilly, but not freezing Texas!

I didn't bring my house plants in last night, and luckily for me it didn't drop to freezing as predicted. Now we start a slightly warming trend.

I need to shower, dress, and head to the mall to walk. I got an amazing 23,000 steps yesterday. I walked around and around the classroom, then circled the playground during recess, walked Kiwi, and went to the mall with daughter Pam after her work. Very satisfying. It won't happen again for a long, long time. But it sure felt good yesterday. No aches and pains this morning. That's good.

I know none of you want my Texas summer heat, but I do feel for you gripped by winter's freezing weather, and blinding snow storms. Be safe!

Good morning peeps, not such a horrible day today, mainly because i didnt look in the mirror at myself naked emoticon
Yesterday I threw out all the crap in the cupboards and got back on the tracker, I was so good I went to bed with more calories to eat...dreaming about what I could use them for all night.
Today I walked sedately with Leslie and managed 2 miles, oh boy did I feel good, there was nothing nice to eat or I would have rewarded myself. emoticon
Had a nice chat on the phone to SUE and that cheered me up even more, nice to know I am not the only one struggling.... emoticon with the fitbit twinnie.

GINNAR Really!!! there is such a thing as finger fat, well I am heavy on the salt so it could have been, I will try the rings again later...I must have been REALLY heavy on the salt to get this fat round my waist emoticon

GERRY Thanks for the sparkmail...still grinning at that.

JEAN/SHERRY/DONNA/NORMA emoticon And enjoy your day

Good morning. It is sunny and bright and happily no snow. Just hope the sunshine protects us from that! The temp is only 1 degree higher than northern MI and that is NOT a good thing. We have 34 to look forward to as our high. I'll quit complaining now. Going to lunch with friends so I must get on my stationary bike.

Alice are you sure you didn't just a a touch of something a bit salty. That can raise havoc with "finger fat."

Thanks Sherry for the link, but will leave it as it is for a week or so and try to get as high as I can and do a bit more each day, something to aim for ....right? emoticon

No snow here and we don't want it thanks, but it is dropping quite cold.

Back on track today with food as well, get myself sorted at long last, could lose 7lbs by Christmas if I get my finger out!

I could not find a way to change the Fitbit One. It takes dedication to reach the 10,000 steps which is widely recognized as the goal to achieve. I am not doing well at this time at all.

I am too busy sending my rotten weather to others!! emoticon

We all have bad days, but yours is not a fun day at all.

Alice
Don't give up. Your body will adjust to the new routine. You have the determination to make it work this time You can do it. I believe in you. Love you.

Ginna
Rain is no fun to walk in. I agree stay in until it goes away.

I am off for the mall walk with my daughter Pam.

hi all

well have had a rotten day as well grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

first off hubby turned on light in bedroom and wakes me up at 6.00am this morning

says l can't move my arm and l am stiff?

so get up up put some A535 on his arm shoulder and back

then his coworker phoned to see where he was for work

says he can't move so they need the equipment in his car

so we then had to go to his job site

about 30min away and drop everything off

so get back home have breakfast then decide to go and get my treadmill from

walmart get there and no treadmill till Thursday

so came home decided to go back to walmart and get a new stat bike

so l get it home hubby puts it together for me with his bad arm

am trying it out and can't see the moniter and timer???

grrr have tried everything and still can't see the numbers unless l stand up

which is no good for me as you lose the flow?

anyways gonna take this damn thing back and get a refund not happy with it at all

just gonna keep the old stat bike and just forget new machines for awhile

as l am so pissed off and frustrated right now just can't think straight

anyways that is my day lol and yeh my leg is hurtuing from working this sucker

trying to get off and on

not a happy camper right now

thanks for listening

Oh Alice emoticon
I couldn't wear my wedding ring for 3 months and had a piece put in in June.
Hope your mammogram was okay....as these things go.

Just got a fitbit arrive today and synced it with Spark, but today I did 3 minutes lol, because I did it and then checked it worked. I need to walk 10,000 steps a day it says, but I could do with halving that to start, does anyone know how to change it?

Just been vegging out last few weeks, the funeral was last Thursday and all the drama is over, so time to get my butt in gear and back on track with knobs on lol

I have had a really horrible day, I woke up this morning and my wedding ring finger was swollen and hurt like crazy, I had a hell of a job getting my ring off, my fingers must have got fatter (overnight???) getting ready to go for my mammogram and I cant get into my jeans and these are the new bigger size I got, I gingerly stepped on the scales emoticon emoticon
I have put on ANOTHER 7 pounds and am now 12 and half stone the weight I was when I first joined Spark 6 years ago...OMG a combination of eat all you can holidays and not smoking have taken their toll.
They moved the mobile unit so at least I walked a couple of miles today, tomorrow I am going back to Leslie and ask if I can join her SLOW class.

GERRY Oh no you have the blooming white stuff...wrap up and walk with pigeon steps
Hope you get good results next week, perhaps the snow will clear by then???

HOPE THE REST OF YOU ARE HAVING A THINNER LESS HORRIBLE DAY THAN ME

GINNA, yes, MUCH too cold for GA! Stay warm.

DONNA TUTU (I first wrote UNO cause you're number one in my book!), yep, this has SHERRY written all over it!

I've rescheduled for next Tues. This will enable me to have my blood work done beforehand.

Good idea Gayle. Stay off the roads if you do not have to go. The snow is probably from S1. You know she gets around. emoticon

Good morning friends!
Certainly not a pretty start to our day. Like you, Jean, we have rain. I don't really mind, but it isn't going to be a day to walk. I am headed to my old stationary bike. We are working through phase 1 and 2 of the DASH diet and I really want some exercise.

Gayle, I feel for you with the white stuff - means its colder where you are today. Hate that - the cold is coming our way tomorrow with high in 30s. That is way too cold for GA at this time of year.

Of course, you can do it. One day at a time.

56F here with a steady light rain. Great for the plants. Sigh!

Church was inspiring, as it should be. Glad we made the effort.

Have a great Sunday all.

Alice, I missed your question a couple of days ago. I see why you didn't understand what I meant. Somehow I left the "k" off of the word "ask." It left my comment without meaning. At one time long ago, I was a smoker. When I quit I didn't want to be reminded by friends asking me about quitting. That helped me get through those early transition days of going from "smoker" to "non..." That was over forty years ago so it did help. Best wishes to you.

Hi Norma, Gayle, Jean, Barb, Lola, Alice, Delores, Doona and anyone I may have missed.
Alice, I hope that Steve retires soon which will give you a walking partner. Dan, Koby and I walk together quite often and I really enjoy it - especially fun to go to one of the nearby lakes. I really need to do a lot more walking.

Jean, I see that you are making a shawl - is it knitting? That's been occupying a lot of my time later. Reese asked if I would knit her a scarf and with our cold temps she can really use one. I should have it finished soon. Then I'm going to do some hats. At least I don't eat while I knit. Still trying to lose.

Good to read Lola's post. It is wonderful that Eldon is doing well. Hope that the situation with his brother works itself out. I do hope the weather misses you and Eldon. We are not liking this cold at all. I want to go for a walk, but hate the cold temps and wind. Guess I need to dust off my stationary bike.

I hope you enjoy that exercise equipment, Delores.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
