NORMA your mother is lovely with that gorgeous hair and joyful face. I see where you get your smile from. She looks quite chipper and healthy so hope you have a lot more years with her. does she still do needle work?

ALICE sometime ago I posted pictures of my neighborhood. 80% or more of the houses are on stilts so when I walk and it rains I can just hop under a house. I know where all the ones are with swings, nice deck furniture, and fridges. most are seasonal vacation homes, not year round. very convienient but lonesome in the winter. Finding a house with a light on at night is scattered so forget Christmas decorations and trick or treating. Of course in a few weeks all that changes until we have half a million people coming and going every Saturday.

GINNA sounds like you have had some fun socializing. I know about the Gkidlets eating and we love to spoil them and show them how special we are, but it is exhausting. My house is a disaster when Annabelle leves. We get into so many projects and of course the dog too. I love luncehon dates with girlfriends and hope your was fun.

GAIL You inspire me with your goals and progress both health and social forays. I have horrible arthritis mostly in my hands and take NSAIDs through out the day. My belly is like iron inside so i have no ill issues and I am not going to keep my hands very idle. My knee and back agravate me from time to time but I try to ignore them. I have osteo so it is the kind to use or loose unless inflammed. Thank goodness NO rheumatoid arthritis

ANGELA I love your silvery beach shot. I just thought of you when I was at the beach. I saw this shot this morning before I sat to respond and our beach is silver today too. There is a slight fog and silvery grey clouds. Just stunning. I see the pier in the distant poking out into the Atlantic ocean. I thought about your mud slides and figure it must be like Cape Breton with mountains and hillsides with rocks and such. We are flat as a fritter with all sand. If you want a rock you have to go to the rock store. Just like Florida. We have the swaps and gators too.

ALICE I have scored the paper, used a steamer, soaked it, all but dinamite. I am going to paint over it and see if it bubbles or has become the new finish for the sheet rock. It is a pretty big bed room with a sitting area too. The paper is just on the bottom half with an incredible border that may get to survive a few more decades. It will most likely be the next ladies problem.

JEAN I get a tickle hearing about your school days. They must have a really good cafeteria if you could gain 2 pounds and walk over 3-5 miles a day. It makes me want to view their food line. I sure hope we get to meet. it would be nice if your trip allowed time for you to come here and spend the night on the beach. Kiwi is welcomed too. My home and condo are dog friendly.

Have a lovely hostess day tomorrow. I used to love playing bridge many years ago when we lived in Liberia. It helped keep me sane after their coup d'etat.

Good Morning::

About a week ago I decided to rejoin the neighborhood bridge group and agreed to host. The leader had me set for April. Well, I got an "emergency" call yesterday afternoon. The lady who was supposed to host this Tuesday can't have it at her home, and I was asked if they could have it here. No problem. Tomorrow I'll go out to get some munchies. It will be the first time that I'm having guests since the renovations, and the first time in ages that I'm not ashamed for people to see my home. Good feeling.

Stay well everyone:

Jacquii: So sorry to hear that you've been ill. Have you ever tried a Netti Pot? They unclog the sinuses and thereby help promote healing.

Norma, Jean and Angela: How did you get that photo on here?

Alice: I don't take ibuprofen every day and usually, when I do take it I just take one dose a day. It never upsets my stomach. So sorry to hear about the weather's effects on your legs. Anything you can do for that?

Good morning everyone!

Whats this about posting a photo? That sounds fun, I'll give it a try!

JAQ - so sorry to hear you are unwell and wish you better soon.

We had a busy weekend. Saturday it was raining all day so we stayed home and after my closet purge during last week we did the same to DH's. Oh my what a lot of outgrown and put away for "gardening/painting" clothes he had to dispose of! I'm sure the home is sighing with relief!

Yesterday was lovely and sunny in the morning so after breakfast we headed out for a beach only 20 miles away but one we had never previously visited. Nice beach with a lovely close view of Isle of Wight and the needles. The area had obviously suffered from major landslides from all the bad weather and many of the clifftop walks were closed. We did have a good walk along the beach although it was very cold and windy.

Today I'm busy doing quarterly VAT returns so I'll pop back later and read the weekends messages.

Have a good week!

So sorry you are sick. Never fun. That's a powerful virus to create so much misery.
Please take care of yourself. Hope you are felling better real soon.

Lovely photo of your Mom. You are blessed to still have her with you.

Ginna
I know you love those little guys. Great you can be a part of their young lives. We had so much fun with our Megan growing up so close to us.

Megan turns 21 next month. Pam is taking her daughter Megan on a short vacation for her 21st birthday. They're going to Universal Studios in Florida to the Harry Potter Hogwart theme park. Megan will have her first legal drink with her Mom. They have both seen the movies, and read the books. I'm happy they can have this special adventure together.

I have RSV again. A nasty virus with bronchitis, ear problems, sore throat. I have been battling it 2 weeks and hope it leaves this week, The past few days have exhausted me but I did have fun with Annabelle. We made some fun birthday cards and a replica of her for her other G'ma.

I ate birthday cake and a spoon of ice cream and a sloopy Joe. This is their favorite meal but nothing I ever eat. I do not eat gluten so it was a real polite thing for me to do. Babs and her brother ar estranged from their mother, just Annabelle and I associate with her. I never did until Annabelle started asking. She was not a good mother. Strange situation and as long as she behaves we will visit.

Raining here again today so no outside walk. Not even the dog.

Hopefully I will feel spiffy tomorrow and be able to respond to the post. I find your discoveries and triumphs inspiring. I need to look at more Leslie videos. She seems to have a big variety now.

NORMA I need to get that T-Sirt or atleast write those words on a shirt.

SHERRY hope ypu are having fun. Come give us a pep talk..

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. I'm resting after having Reese and Jack for a spend-the-night. They were fun. We enjoy them, but it can get you tired. Just the breakfast is a daunting task - a dozen eggs scrambled, sausage, bacon, and silver dollar pancakes. During the week they have a hurried breakfast before getting on the school bus so they make up for it on week ends.

That is so nice that you found your table and chairs, Sue. You will enjoy seeing March 10 arrive. It is fun to be looking forward to a new arrival for the home.

Jean, you and Joe will have a wonderful trip visiting all those lovely places. It is such a good time of year to travel.

Alice, I did get a new Leslie DVD. This one is a mix and match with ten short workouts that you can put together it is kind of fun. Best of all you can turn off the talk. I'd rather hear just the music.

How did you post a photo of your Mom in the message box? I didn't know we could do that. I'm intrigued.

OK. I found the secret. I love these silly goofy shoes bc they look like my Kiwi. I do NOT own them, but still think they are terrific.

Good afternoon peeps, yesterdays walking outside didnt work out, on the way back it emoticon and I got wet through, today I stayed in with Leslie, the sun was shining and I had the window open...much better! (2 miles)

GAIL I dont have arthritis but the pains in my legs are always worse in the wet weather, hang on I am sure some sun will help. Does the ibuprofen effect your stomach if you take regularly?

Good Morning:

Yesterday afternoon was pretty busy for me. I got my hair cut and later my sil and daughter came by to see my new furniture and put up the rest of my pictures. Vic had the wall space taken up with bookcases, but now that they are all but gone the walls look naked. Got to get some more things to hang on those walls. One guest room and the family room certainly need something. Also, I might put up some more things in the living room. It's all coming together.

I don't like to complain but I need to ask: My arthritis has been worse this winter than ever and I've had to take ibuprofen sometimes several days in a row. Are any of you finding the same thing? To be honest, I'm now back off gluten and sugar, two things I succumbed to for the last 2 or so months. Not good because that aggravates the inflammation. None-the-less.....

On the bright side I got in 7 fruit and veggies yesterday and 8 glasses of water. Woo Hoo...I'm on a roll.

It's another cold day and hopefully, now that March is here, we'll be getting some warmer weather.

Stay safe and well everyone.

Gail

Jacqui: I'm staying away from the scale too. Don't want to go near it till I feel I might have something worthwhile to see.

Sue 2: Congrats on the good choices eating out. Also want to say it's very generous of you to make that donation. I contribute to our local hospice thrift store because hospice does such great work and they never charge.

Afternoon
Teaching kept me away from my early mall walk, but I did manage over 10,000 steps a day. Eating out for lunch was yummy, but not good for the scale. Even with a mall walk after dinner, I gained two pounds again. Yuck!! emoticon

I had a great time all week and stayed healthy. Yeah!! Lots of hand washing. This next week I am teaching 2-1/2 days. Happy smiles here.

Joe and I are zeroing in on four National Parks in April: Congaree National Park in SC, and then Biscayne, Dry Tortugas, and the Everglades in Florida. We will also visit my brother in Venice Island, and his cousin near Tampa before we head back.

If we can connect, I'll get to meet Jaq and Angela. That would be great. I promise photos if we can meet.

Sending hugs and warm thoughts to everyone.

Good Morning,
Annabelle will be here soon and we will plan our day. So far the sun is out so we may get a nice bech walk if the wind behves. We have all been sick ill week with colds so I will need to choose wisely. Yesterday Zander and I just did the neighborhood which is rare. I like to go where he csn come off leash during the bleaker winter months.
We will go to PetCo and Annabelle will beg for a new fish, a kitty, a bird, a hamster or any other animal that her eyes see.
I am deliberately staying away from the scale because it will not budge. I think March 6 is my 60 day restart so I will weigh then. I will continue monitoring food and activity and the mirror and leave Mr Scale alone. My fish will just have to dog paddle ontop of his wave.
Hope allthat are making efforts with nutrition and activity keep their SPARK ignited.

Morning all

Like Sue we ate out yesterday but made very good choices having jacket potatoes with salad, have learnt doesn't mean I can't eat out just have to be sensible in my choices, hopefully it will become habit to choose correctly. Had a very productive morning, we were out at 9 to buy a new dining room table and chairs, saw it yesterday and after sitting here last night thinking about it and realising how much we liked and wanted it we did the deed went backand bought it,won't be delivered till 10th though. We also have a large fridge and a tv with built in dvd player that we don't need or use anymore and have donated those to the British Heart Foundation, am sure they will do someone a good turn. This afternoon its housework and ironing so should have burnt a few calories off before I settle down for the evening.

Good morning peeps, looking a bit moody outside but decided to walk to the shops and back will clock up 2 miles might be quicker on the way there with the wind behind me. Only did 2 miles yesterday I think the 3 miles was a fluke.

SUSIE I have heard from Sherry she is ok, hope you enjoyed your Anniversary

ANGELA Sounds like a good workout you had with your new DVD especially your inner thighs, havnt worked those for a while emoticon

JAQ are you scoring the wallpaper before stripping? I expect you are...just a thought. We brought a wallpaper steamer but Steve doesnt like it and went back to the old fashioned way, another bit of plastic left in the garage.

GAIL Your doing good with the water, I do drink 8 glasses a day BUT I add a tiny drop of orange, drinking pure water makes me thirsty...keep it up

GINNAR Is that music DVD Leslies? hows it going with that?

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND FOLKS

Morning all

Chicken dinner cooking already at 8.40 am so that I can zap it when hubby gets home as the rugby will be on by then haha.

Done some walking last few days and I know I am losing weight, but don't weigh in until Tuesday night, so have to hope I don't fall off the wagon before then. We won't be eating out again until after weigh day and ate out twice this week and I made brilliant choices so happy with that.

Jean, enjoying your work and getting steps in as part of it, how great is that? emoticon

Not seen Sherry for ages, is she okay does anyone know?

If the workout stays too strenuous for your muscles that aren't used to handling so much, just back off a bit while they get stronger. Don't give up.

I try to drink my water at least by 7:00PM so I can avoid getting up all night to use the bathroom. I'll still get up a couple of times, but if I wait too late, I'm up every hour or so until I empty all that out. Not a restful sleep.

School was over the top fun again today. I had a great time. My kiddos needed to be walked to science, P E., the library, and lunch. All on one campus, but in different buildings sometimes, and always in a different area from their classroom. Plus I had recess duty, and I walked the perimeter of the playground throughout their time outdoors. That was tremendous bc I got my first 10,000 steps in during school. I'll go over to the mall later and walk again, my main exercise.

This is my relaxation time. Dinner is over and I'm just sitting here. emoticon

Happy Friday evening! I just finished work for the day.

That firm 30 minutes sure was more strenuous than I thought. I can barely walk today and the action of sitting in a chair hurts my inner thighs and butt! I think it was all the squats as the rest of me is fine. Today I did the burn 30 and I think I mau repeat that tomorrow and give my sore muscles a little more healing time.

Have a great weekend everyone!

ANGELA thanks for the Leslie workout tape info. I will look the set up. Sounds like more complete workout and i like it has some strength training. My upper body strength sucks.
I am pretty strong but weak wrist and upper arm. Last time I did hand weights I threw both shoulders out..LOL

GINNA our sun is out today, crisp but pretty so Zander and I will go on a venture. First I am binding off lace shawl. I will soak it then block it.

JEAN it makes me smile to hear your school adventures and how much you enjoy it. I bet the kids love seeing you come. I can't wait to hear about your choir subbing..

GAIL I like your weekly commitment to your goals. Since I could not get my wallpaper down for this weeks goal I am going to switch to veggies. I need to get more veggies. I wat a lot of fruit but not veggies.
As for water our livers don't care and I would think consistently through the day would be good, although i drink most of my water afternoon and night. I need to add more water in at lunch time. I drink a lot of water at night with lots of ice. Pron=bably a southern thing.

Dad was at the hospital today as he had a small growth on his arm, and they just froze it there and then. ralph went with him while I stayed with mum. She is really not getting any better and didn't look like herself at all, strange.

It is our 16th anniv today, which is why we went to the cinema yesterday and we knew today would be all about the parents, lol.
Both days we ate our and both days I was amazing haha. Yesterday we had breakfast out so Ralph had the BIG breakfast and I had one slice of dry toast with baked beans on, the other slice of toast I gave to Ralph.
I wanted the same again today, but can you believe the pub had run out of beans so I had jacket potato with grated cheese and salad no dressing, how's that for willpower?

Hubby bought me lots of tulips and daffs, I do love spring flowers, plus the daffs can double up for St David's Day on Sunday

See you later, need to rest haha

Good morning! It is cold, but it should get past forty today with a bright sun. We are headed out for a doctor's appointment for DH. We should be back in mid afternoon. Hope you all have a good day.

Norma, I hope you wake up refreshed and feeling better.

Donna, you are right about winter. Guess I guilty of being one perpetually awaiting spring! There really isn't anything we can do about winter.

Jaqui: Does it matter if you get your 8 glasses of pure water in before 2pm, or must you spread it out throughout the day?

Yesterday I read one book and started another. In the evening I watched some TV. I'm thinking of going down to basic cable since I only watch a little TV in the evening and it's almost always the PBS or CBS. No use shelling out big bucks for something I don't use. Now that I have an HD radio I can get classical music all day without advertising and interruptions. I used to use the TV classical music channel but don't even use that any more. Any of you just have basic cable?

Yesterday was good for the veggies. I got in 6 servings. Still, my appetite is raging. Can't seem to get a grip. Any suggestions?

Good morning.

Freezing cold here. Gosh will it ever end. I was watching an interview show yesterday and the guest was asked what he thought of the winter we were having? He said I do not know what everyone is surprised about. Winter comes every year.....one of the four seasons. It will end and spring will come. I think we are all worried here that spring might forget us.

I am off to the pool for my exercise. Be back later to read.

Have a great Saturday, and a wonderful weekend.

If we can keep the scale moving downward even a tad, it's encouraging.

This morning before school it was 29F when I walked Kiwi. 35F when I took my students out for recess. They were delighted but surprised we gave them recess. When I saw them shivering, I told them to run and get active. Most of them had a super time outdoors. I walked the perimeter of the playground over and over. So I got my steps, and supervised at the same time.

Great day again. Tomorrow is my last day with these kids. I've made some new friends in 3rd grade. I'll see them again next week bc I'll have them in choir Monday and Tuesday. How sweet is that.

Read all posts since I last posted. There seemed to be lots of interesting chatting today. I ran errands and didn't bills so I ran out of time.

Oh, there was something else - DH, Kobe and I went for a walk. When we returned, I was inspired to finally call Fitbit to get my Zip to sync correctly. The device isn't compatible with my tablet soi will have to continue synching it on Dan's laptop. Wish they would add more devices to the compatible list. Anyway I finally do know how to get it synched now. That will make me more anxious to complete my daily goal. I dropped it back to 7000 which is more doable while the weather is so bad. I actually did that today.

Gail you are smart to stay in with a supply of books. I have been reading a Lisa Inger - new to me, but I'll read her again. Lots of suspense!

Alice, I should have followed your advice yesterday and jumped up to do Leslie! Today I picked up a new video. It has 10 shorter walks to mix and match - hope I can turn off the talking. Still would like to find out what songs are on the one with "hits."

January 5, 2015 must be my New Day 1.
That is when I started tracking everything that went in my out..Including that pesty pizza..
I include my tootsie rolls daily..LOL

Sadly the scale has shown very little movement BUT an exciting noticeable thing by me is the fat around or just below my arm pit, which I hate..is shrinking..YEAH!! I litterally have spots on my body that I can grab a hand full, and they are shrinking..Not enough to use the pinch an inch, but smaller than a hand full..

This probably sounds silly...

GAIL I was thinking of you this morning and how your concentration on drinking water was going. I think it is wise to work on one thing at a time, forming a new habit, and not getting distracted and overwhelmed with too many issues. One thing that sticks in my mind about water is this:

In order to do their job properly, your kidneys require an enormous amount of water. If the water is not supplied, your body goes to Plan B, which is to enlist the assistance of your liver. Because the liver is able to metabolize fat (turn it into energy), every second your liver spends bailing out the kidneys is a second it isn't burning stored fat. Drinking more water allows the kidneys to run at their optimal level and keeps the liver available to burn fat.

I don't remember the source but it stuck in my mind.

So keep the liver happy.. emoticon

Good Afternoon:

I've stayed away till there were some positive developments to report. Well, I've got the 8 glasses of water a day down and as of today have been tracking fruits and veggies. So far today I've had 6 servings. Whew! Got them all in after lunch to be sure.

By Jimminy the weather sucks. So glad to be cozy inside reading. I started a Beaton mystery from the Agatha Raisin series yesterday, DEATH OF AN ENGLISHMAN. It's a quick read so I should finish it today and start on the next Jo Nesbo book, THE SNOWMAN.

Hope you all stay warm and safe.

Jacqui, the dvd is "Walk It Off In 30 Days" by Leslie Sansone (the same one that Alice walks with) but its one with quite fast paced walking/aerobics and also a firming routine. Each one is 30 minutes so they work for me as I don't have long in the mornings.

The hype for the website says:
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, you'll burn BIG calories as you walk the Burn 30 program! It's Super-Charges fitness walking! Then on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you'll build strength as you take on every major muscle group from shoulders to calves in the Firm 30 session!

If I don't find an answer to the tracking of the firming section I will sit and write it out - someday!

I like audio books for walking or for ironing. I also walk with my "reading" book if I am on the treadmill going slowly or just walking while a pot comes to the boil or some such! I'm just about to start Sail by James Patterson - hope it doesn't put me off sailing!

Sounds like we will have those Beach Babe Bods by summer with all the activity and food tracking..Won't that be nice? emoticon

ALICE you are right, there is a certain sense of accomplishment when we push thru that exercise that we put off doing. Then we feel better and wonder why that initial start is so illusive. Most of us have more time than we have had in our lives so that is generally not a factor.

ANGELA i do not know the DVD you are talking about but would be interested in looking it up if you find the answer.

I started a new book too but it is an audio book. I have to walk to listen to it so that keeps me willing to walk. This is a habit I started when I was training for a marathon. I could only listwn to my book if I was walking. I have some books I listen to on the long drive to Cape Breton and other books I might listen to if sitting to knit. But the best books are for walking only. I am listening to The Girl On The Train..

Congratulations on your activity. Way to go!

I am off to walk little Kiwi, and then head to school.

We're actually below freezing this morning. Hope the kiddos dress warm for recess. I may have to take them outside so they can run off some energy.

Sending hugs

New book and lunch sounds wonderful! I am about to start a new one tonight. What are you reading today?

Today I did the 30 minute firming section of the Walk it off in 30 days program. Does anyone have a list of the actual exercises done in the dvd? I want to add them to my tracker but I can't remember/don't know the names of all the exercises. I found all the squats and lunges hard going but the rest was fine.

I must get more careful about my school lunches. The food is awesome, and I need to remember I cannot eat like that and still come home to a normal dinner. Ouch!!

I promise myself to do better tomorrow, and then just drool at the offerings. Today I had a crusted pork chop. So tasty. Oh, my! I skipped the rice and veggies, but it was not a light lunch.

I had 2 good discoveries yesterday with Annabelle.
1. We can walk 50 laps around my Livingroom -kitchen-diningroom circle and click off a mile. It was quite a sight as Annabelle ran and rode her scooter and the dog was totally confused.

2. My husband buys berries ever day or everyother day..We can not eat berries that fast but he forgets he already bought them yesterday. So I made a torte using a ready made graham cracker crust and jello/cornstarch..Worked like a charm and low cal. I only added 2 tbs sugar because I think the fruit is sweet enough. Calories in the crust is about 140,

emoticon stuff Norma, wish it were me, but as only on day two I cant expect miracles,

Keeping within my calories but oh I do miss REAL butter & bread and going back to piddly milk is not nice at all.

Love the picture of Annabelle sucking the icicles, mind your tongue doesnt stick to it.

Had a moan at Bacofoil Monday as their cling film kept snapping and it was winding me up as I couldnt find the edge, I am an OAP I stated in my email, I cant afford to waste the roll ha ha they sent me a £6 voucher, and apology and a pre paid envelope to send it back...customer satisfied.

I have just weighed and entered my roast dinner on the tracker now the good part I am off to eat it emoticon

ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY PEEPS

LOLA it was good to hear from you. Your Elton is like an energizer bunny and still hopping even if shorter hops. I am amazed at the west coast early spring but know it will cool down and hopefully some rains to boost those blooms.

JEAN thanks for th fitbit info. I need to look at the possible attachments. I am generally barefoot of flip flop type shoes so I may need to clip it somewhere else. Also good to know the bracelet can be irritating in our heat.

Annabelle was here yesterday, spent the night then school late because of sleet and icy roads. She was in awe this morning and ate every icicle she could on the way to school. It is so new to her. She would really appreciate a big snow.

NORMA Yippee on the pound down..Was this a surprise? You are very devoted so I expect it will continue that diresction.

My weight seems to be in pause mode but I do see the changes in the mirror and I a not hungry inspite of calorie reduction. I still need a lot more veggies.

Good Morning friends!

Its a grey day here in Dorset but no rain at present.

Planning a weekend with my daughters on 7/8 March. Not sure what we will be doing besides catching up but if weather is ok we may well go and visit London Dungeon. Fingers crossed for a dry day otherwise we may just head out for a nice lunch and stay home chatting.

Have a lovely day!

I have a Fitbit One. It clips inconspicuously under clothing. I wear mine clipped under my shoe laces or under the velcro closure of another pair of shoes. I also clip it on my bra for dressier occasions. I LOVE my Fitbit. It's a terrific motivational tool. Mine syncs with my iPhone, so I can check it easily all throughout the day. It syncs with my computer, too. I just prefer mine syncing with the phone.

Some folks have trouble with the bracelets causing a rash, so I haven't tried that. The latest models do count stairs which was important to me.

Lola
Marvelous to have you come in for a chat. So good to know Eldon is still getting around. I'm sure our kids would step up and help us if needed. It's great your son could come over and do some of the minor repairs and adjustments for you.

School was fun today. I didn't crash last night until 11:00 which was not wise since my alarm went off at 5:30. I need to be more careful about shutting down early. Wasn't sleepy so I stayed up and read. Seemed like a good idea, but I know long term that will not be healthy. I woke up before the alarm, so my sleep was good, just not 8 hours.

Time to wind down. Sending hugs for all

Good morning - I wish I could share our beautiful sunny sky with everyone. It is glorious out but colder this morning.

Eldon is out doing some of his chores. It's good that he's feeling well enough to go out on his own, lately he hasn't done much driving and needs a 'companion' to get him to appointments and haircuts or other necessary events. I'm alone for a good part of the day which is feeling pretty amazing right now.

Our son and DIL were here for a long weekend, they left this morning and I'm slowly getting things back into normal mode. They are easy guests and do little chores around the house that make things easier for me .... he mounted some little LED lights under the kitchen cabinets, changed some light bulbs that were too high for me.... just little stuff but it makes life good to have them around to help this "Harriet Homemaker" keep up with maintenance.

I've been tracking my food again and realize how many times I was making 'exceptions' to my program. A lot of little ones add a pound to the scale by the end of the month. Those little bites add up!!! I'm down 3# in the past 4 weeks. This is a slow loss but it's a loss and has been rather painless. The biggest difference is eliminating the 'snack' in the evening which had been expanding to bigger, sweeter and richer snacks.

How nice to see so many familiar Sparkers when I popped in this morning to do a quick check on the team! Hugs around to everyone.

Lola - in Oregon

Today is a good day to have a good day.

Good Morning:

Yesterday the repairman from the furniture store came and put the levelers on the tables. They are perfect now. While he was here I mentioned the missing shoe on the front sofa leg. Well, he had one in the truck that was the exact same thing as the other three and he put it on for me without charge. Nice man. Now everything is perfect and I'm a real happy camper.

Want to mention I haven't missed a day with the 8 glasses of water and am feeling pretty comfortable with that. Will look to another goal soon.

Still bone-chilling cold here so I'm staying in. Got to say, it's a pleasure now that I have my serene surroundings.

Gail

Ginna - My fitbit one occasionally stops syncing. To fix it I first try a manual sync on my iPhone or laptop and if that doesn't work I restart it as follows:

1. Plug your charging cable into your computer.
2. Plug your One tracker into the charging cable, making sure that the gold contacts on your tracker align with the gold contacts in the inside of the charger.
3. Hold down your tracker's button for 10-12 seconds.
4. Remove your tracker from the charging cable and press its button until the screen turns on.

Worth a try if you didn't already do this. Next I would try a device update as that also can fix a malfunction.

Hope you get it sorted ok.

have a fitbit one Sue and I wear it clipped discreetly inside my bra, or you can put it in a pocket etc. It also comes with a wristband but as I don't even wear a watch I didn't want something on my wrist all the time. Had a very productive morning so far, am on nights today so have made a bagful of sweet potato crisps for me to snack on, I have also made some small leek and potato cakes with some veg that needed using up, some for brunch when I get up tomorrow and the rest I have frozen. Don't know whats come over me I seem to have so much energy at the moment.

Am glad you are making progress with nursing homes Sue, even if your Dad doesn't want to do it yet you have not only sewn the seeds but will know where to look in the future.

Good luck at your class tonight, I havn't joined anywhere as working shifts cannot go the same day each week so am doing it myself. This has always failed me before as I don't have much willpower but enough is enough and am fed up seeing people wearing lovely clothes that I wouldn't get half my body in so this has led to a new determination.

Have a lovely day all.

Good morning! Well, In don't know how good it really is. I'm not up yet - just writing from bed. National Weather Service says we're getting "wintery mix" now. That won't be good. In fact it is ugly for our area.

Everyone seems to be planning wonderful trips. We do have a national park in Marietta, Jean. Did you visit Kennesaw Mountain when you passed through a few years ago? You will have a great trip at a nice time of year.

Alice, I should join you on emoticon today. I keep getting off track. I may even do part of Leslie's Four Fast Miles. My Fitbit must be napping because it hasn't had many steps to track. The darn thing isn't syncing either. I need to call Fitbit, but I hate getting stuck on those CS lines.

Gail you sound like me. I don't enjoy shopping (use catalogs for everything I can) so I experience sticker shock on everything. Penney's used to have wonderful catalogs, but they aren't around any longer. I was shocked at the sixty dollar pillows. You were smart to take advantage of your coupon.

I guess I'll be stuck inside today. It was sad going to Ann's funeral yesterday. She was a real lady at all times. We will all miss her presence at our meetings and activities. The church put on a very nice reception/lunch after the Mass, so we did have a chance to socialize a bit too. The food was wonderful.

Morning all.

Alice, Day one sounded great to me and we have to make time for friends and fun.

I am going back to Slimming World class tonight at 5.30. Not been for a couple of years so that may be a shock, lol, also of course it will say I weigh more as it is the evening and I will have my clothes on, double whammy haha. Not changing my tracker on here will still weigh in the morning after my shower once a week for Spark

Doing okay on my own but need that extra push to get moving a bit quicker.
Talking of moving I am having to put my fitbit in a pocket or my handbag as I came out in a rash from wearing it. I contacted fitbit yesterday and they said they will get back to me within 2 days so we will see what we can do, Maybe I will buy a set of those wrist sweat bands that tennis players wear and put it on over that, lol. So not really tracking and no sleep tracked at all either.

Rang a few nursing homes in the area dad wants for mum, 2 out of 4 do nursing, the others were just residential, so we have brochures coming from 2 and then Ralph and I will go and look. To be fair it is probably just the one we are interested in as the second one although sounds wonderful is about a 15 minute walk from a bus stop and dad can't do that, especially in winter. the other one is about 4 mins from a stop. He asked the Doctor about a referral and he said we have to contact social services at the County council in the first instance so Ralph will enquire when he is back at work.

See you later

Jean, if you're heading down the West coast by road to the Keys you will pass very close to our condo. If you fancy a stop off in Port Charlotte for lunch or overnight after 2nd April let me know as we will be there.

Alice my day one wasn't good either! I spent the morning in my office and the afternoon visiting mum in the care home. Today I walked two miles with Leslie while cooking banana muffins for breakfast at DH's request. Needless to say I just ate back more calories than I burned but at least I used some muscles.

Jaq the steps are in England - well they could be half way to Alaska by now but they fell from the cliffs around the Purbeck Coast line which is where we live part of the year, like now.

Don't kick yourself. Day One sounded delightful.

I have walked, vacuumed, wet mopped floors, and washed throw rugs and two loads of laundry.
Dinner is left overs. Yeah!!
I can still move, but think I better stop so I'm not completely bent over tomorrow. emoticon
Daughter Pam wants to stop over after work and walk the mall with me again. Good reason to lay low for a while.

SHOREIO The blueberries are wonderful and I eat a lot of them. it has been unusual to get large seedless blackberries on the east coast. They seem to last a bit longer than raspberries.

ALICE DAY 1 sounds like it was splendid. I love a fun friend with wine! So if you can accomplish a good shopping list for the next impromptu lunch, your day was a win win.. You might still track the foods you ate and see what each contibuted to the final picture for future. Sometimes the things we think are the worst are actually not so bad. It depends on their contribution and how they will be used or stored.. Day 1 may be more of a success than you think..Don;t write it off yet.

We don't have dates yet for our trip. My brother lives on Venice Island, so we'll plan around his availability. I have a teaching assignment March 13th, so feel it will be after that. Perhaps late March or even in April. We're driving, so not tied to plane tickets.

I'll let you know. We're planning on meeting up with Jaq, at least for lunch on our way across the country before we head down into Florida. Meeting with SP friends is fun. We've had the privilege of meeting Marie, Lola, and Ginna already. Friendship just blossoms that way.

Laundry is started and the vacuum is waiting.

Ginna and Ralph: So sorry for your loss. Though I don't care to think about it, it's something we all face with friends and family as we age. I sometimes wonder if anyone besides my immediate family will be around to attend my funeral and that saddens me so much.

Donna 2: Your trip sounds wonderful. Did you go off on your own or did you take the guided tours provided by the cruise company? What cruise line did you take?

Jaqui: What are you up to this week? Anything special?

Jean: What grade do you teach?

The weather here in Madison has be bone-chilling and I'm fending off a cold right now. There's a pot of chicken soup on the stove. I went out yesterday and I couldn't warm up for hours after I came home. I had a Penney's rewards card for $20 that I wanted to use before tomorrow when it expires. I found 2 sofa pillows and was glad about that. I so rarely shop that I'm always floored by the price of things. These were $60 but on half price sale, so I only paid $10 and change after the coupon.

Need to go to the bank and the library and will go out briefly today. Then it's back to home sweet home.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Gail

Good Morning
I slept terrible for no reason so hope I can stay awake today..

GINNA it is soft rain here but nice and warm so no complaints. I plan on trying once more to get this wall paper off. Maybe if I open the windows and let the rain in? emoticon

ANGELA are the steps gone to to the beach from England or Florida? I suppose England where there is rock and mud. I would love to see pictures of your beach. What a great idea putting Leslie on the computer.

ALICE what will you plant this early? I do not plant much here anymore because I leave for the summer but I do plant tomatoes and peppers and a few things in Cape Breton.
I am glad you are rejuvenated to track your food and exercise. It is amazing how accountability makes decisions easier. It also keeps me educated for certain foods I would normlly eat without thought. Now I realize how expensive they are so determine if it is worth it and what will I do without the rest of the day.

JEAN your trip sounds wonderful and I hope to get to meet up with you.I have a friend that visits all the Pesidents homes. It is his passion and makes for intreting road trips.

DONNA2 I bet you are cold after a warm and tropic cruise. Is your daughter still in Moncton? NB has the worst snow in the continent. My friend in St Stephens has shown me pictures where she has shoveled out windows and doors. Almost 7 feet of snow and 12 + feet snow drifts. Amazing.

RALPH your friend had an amazing long life and a great talent. Are you a fiddler too? I love fiddle and violin. It is the main music source in Cape Breton and we have some exceptional fiddlers, Buddy MacMaster (died last year) his niece Natalie (my favorite) Sandy Macintyre, and so on. There is fiddle music every night and day somewhere. Also a lot of Ceilidh (kay-lees) kitchen parties where musicians drop in and play together at homes and pubs. They come by my camp fire at night sometimes and play..so much fun and talent.

Ooh Key West! What dates are you going Jean?

We are going to Key Largo and the John Pennekamp State Park on 24th March and then on to Key West for a few days before we go to our home in Port Charlotte. We have rented houseboats for our stay in the Keys so we can have a real rest this holiday.

Oh-h-h-h Key West!
Joe and I are now visiting the National Parks for his new Bucket List. Last year we saw four of them. This Spring we plan to visit one in South Carolina and the one in Key West. I need to read about them, but haven't done that yet. He's the enthusiastic one for trip planning. We know in advance that we will not live long enough to see all of them, besides four are in Hawaii, and we won't return there. The parks are fun, and oh so different. Some are geared up for visitors with tours, food, hotels, and gift shops while others are just there. You drive to find them and just enjoy the scenery.

Winter has returned to Texas Cold and windy for the early dog walk. High in the 40's today. Br-r-r-r. No snow, ice or frigid temperatures this far South, but the Northern part of Texas is getting some ice and flurries. Probably traveling towards Ginna soon.

Busy day planned. I have to get rolling.

Hugs for all.

I'm with you on day one again Alice! I had a great Saturday meal with friends and spent the whole day cooking for it. It was a wonderful fun evening but then yesterday I felt lousy and I didn't even drink any alcohol! Better today and I have my Walking with Leslie on my iPad now as its so much easier for me to take her with me when I travel. Now I have no excuse!

Yesterday we went out for a walk at Durdle Door - a very steep climb down the cliff steps but a lovely isolated beach as reward. Unfortunately the lower section of steps had been washed away in our bad weather. It was very wet and windy and the cliff where the steps used to be was a mudslide so we could only get to the beach on the Man o War beach side. The climb back up certainly made my legs ache!

Ralph and Ginna I am sorry for your loss. So sad to lose our loved ones. It certainly makes you think about our mortality. All the more reason to make the most of every day.

Have a good week everyone!

Sorry for your loss, Ralph. It is so hard to see friends leaving us. I, too, am going to a funeral for a friend this morning. One of the ladies in my volunteer group at church passed away last week.
She will be missed by many. As Jean says it is a sobering reminder to us.

It is not a nice start to our day here. It's raining hard -just hoping the temperature doesn't drop.

Donna, you had a wonderful cruise. I'm so happy for you to get some nice tropical weather along with the shows and good food. Spring can't be THAT far away now! Can it? We are coming up on the last of February.

Ginna from Georgia
