Good Sunday Morning to everyone.

Have not had a chance to check in as my schedule has been just a whirl or so it seemed but hopefully I have touched down to earth. This morning is church, tomorrow afternoon is a meeting where I am secretary and will have to take minutes and then compile them tomorrow evening, Tues. early am is a Dr. appointment. Oh gosh, I will not look any further on my agenda or I will be exhausted just thinking about it. Gosh, I think I am off and running again this week.

I went on a bus trip yesterday which was about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours from home. It was with my 55+ group. First we saw a musical at the Upper Canada Playhouse. It was not what we all expected as the title was 50,60, 70s' music. We all thought it would be more rock and roll. Instead it was folk music and short explanation about each song as to what the words meant. It was an excellent show. Then we got back on the bus and were delivered to a restaurant where we had a delicious supper. Back on the bus and was home by 9 pm. A wonderful day and the weather was perfect for the trip. Beautiful sunshine. Wow, though! How can a day of sitting on the bus, sitting in a theater, sitting in a restaurant, and then back on a bus make me so exhausted? I fell asleep in my chair last night. It was not like I was scrubbing floors or something. Good grief! emoticon

Maypole dancing Jean. Completely forgot about that.

Stories about tornedos are so frightening. So glad no one was hurt.

Loved your story Sherry about changing the time on your grandchildren. I understand how exhausted you must have been. Just the thought of cleaning all those rooms was enough to knock me off my feet, never mind have the children in the mix.

Well, I am off to the kitchen to make a bean salad for church today. I am going to the second service which is much more I guess modern than my regular service I attend. They are having a lunch after the service and I am down for 5 Bean Salad.

Have a great day!

Sherry, your babysitting story was priceless! I needed to set the clock ahead, but, of course, that wouldn't help with Jack checking the iPad or phone. Reese was constantly trying to renegotiate the bedtime. Thank goodness, I didn't have 6 bathrooms. I had enough trouble running back upstairs to shut off every light when they went out. Lol No wonder my Fitbit informed me I made goal by noon.

Maypole dances - wow, Jean. You are amazing. I had forgotten about Maypoles. Fun!

Good morning!

Went out with friends last night. It's the first time in three weeks and also the last time we will see many of them this trip as they are mostly snowbirds who are heading north this weekend for the summer.

Tonight we spend the evening with our neighbors who depart for St Louis tomorrow but we will see them again when we go visit next month. I really hope we are both completely over this nasty cough before we set off on our four week trip.

It used to seem odd spending a few months with friends here and then heading back to England for a few months.

Sheila, I love your story. How wonderful to get them into bed early!

Jean, I used to love Maypole dancing when I was little. Sounds like you get to have lots of fun with the kids you teach. Hope the storms miss you.

Nothing planned for today just a little tidying up, reading and relaxing. Accounts work is on hold until I'm 100%, I will just need to sort out Mums care payments and then I can forget it for now.

Not happy to hear about the Texas storms, but really chuckled out loud at you, Ginna. I head off on the 12 May for 10 days to care for my 2 grandsons 14 and 10-- boys. Haha, I raised 2 girls and active boys just keep me on my toes!
You will laugh at my story. Terry and I went to Qatar (Middle East near Dubai) to look after 3 grandkids, all public school age. Our kids went on a Love Boat Cruise on the Nile. Would now be a good time to remind you I now have FOUR grandkids? but I digress. emoticon
Terry and I were younger then, 60 or so. But let me tell you we were exhausted with our new chores. Just the care of a 5 bedroom 6 bathroom, single floor villa nearly killed me, lol.
Every night after supper, we would set the clock in the kitchen ahead an hour. They had no clocks in their rooms, so they were none the wiser. So we would send them off to bed an hour early, and we then we crashed. Once they were asleep, we'd turn the clock back so they would get to the bus on time.
Us old folks just cannot keep up, tee hee.

A lot has been going on this week. I'm now home from my week at our son's home. It really wasn't that hard as my DIL had a. Very organized agenda for us to follow. Thankfully, there were some carpools for transporting the kids to some of the after school activities. However, I feel as though I've been in a vacuum. Somehow, we missed hearing about tornadoes in Texas. We didn't watch TV while away from home - spent most of time on patio enjoying our rather mild weather. I'm so glad that Jean and family are safe. Those spring storms are really scary.

Thanks, Sherry for your very nice compliment.

Angela, I hope your virus continues to improve. Your walking spot looks so beautiful and inviting. I have missed getting to see my Floridian part of the family this winter. We love walking therebwith the FLAT roads.

A fun day today at home.
We shopped, and banked.

Warm and sunny outside, but another storm coming through tomorrow.

I had decaf coffee at school to warm up (AC too high throughout the building). It did not affect my sleep at all. I slept from 10:00 to 4:00 without a wake-up. Unreal for me. Then slipped back asleep and woke up at 6:00. Very good all around. So today I bought some decaf coffee and half and half for here at home. I'll try it out for a couple of weeks, and then order more from Keurig. Sam's only carries regular coffees in the 80 - 100 count boxes. WalMart's offerings were only 16/box. So I'll get more on line if that continues to work for me. I have missed my coffee.

Good morning!

Jean, that must have been very unsettling and not just for the kids! I'm very pleased to hear everyone is safe.

I finally convinced DH we needed to go out for a walk. We had a lovely walk at Stump Pass State Park. Its a lovely beach but unfortunately it is being rather rapidly eroded by storms and high tides. Yesterday half the main pathway was very flooded and the sea shore side was under high tide so we beat our way through the undergrowth to get to the pass.

I slept like a log last night from 11pm to 7am without a single potty trip! The walking was definitely good and although I'm still coughing I do feel much better.

Sheila, no I haven't been to doctors but there's not much they can do for a virus and I'm sure that's all it is. Its just bad luck to catch two nasty ones so close together!

Enjoy the photos, its my favorite place to walk. Not sure why they are so small but there are bigger ones on my Start, photos page if you want to see them.

JEAN, I can imagine how unsettled the kids were. It's very rare to have a tornado up here, but 25 years ago we had an F4 touch down killing 27 people in Edmonton. Our city received only wind, rain and hail. Terry was at work in the area of the tornado and before he headed out he called our daughter who was 16 ish and had her gather our camping equipment, canned goods and water into the basement. I was on a bus heading out of Edmonton after work, oblivious to all until I got into the car and turned on the radio. By the time I got into the house, Kathy was quite frantic waiting for her parents to get home. The weather was absolutely terrible. It's very scary to be sure. I hope your weather settles down now.
Stay safe.

The tornado was upsetting news, but we were not hit.

So very very many of our young children were uprooted from their beds and sleep, and stashed with blankets and pillows in tubs, closets, or under stairs until the danger was past. Then at 6:00AM, they had to get up and come to school as usual. Believe me those little darlings were wired to begin their day of school. Eventually they calmed down, but understandably being uprooted and stashed in a safe place had an impact on their equilibrium.

Willis School district further down I-45 towards Dallas closed for the day bc of heavy rain, lightning, strong winds and the tornado threat. I heard that Spring (where we used to have an art gallery) did have the tornado touch down. I haven't been home long enough to watch the news for a more detailed account of where it hit, and how much damage it created.

Angela

Angela, have you been to the doctor? There may be something else going on there. It does seem too long to be so ill.

Jean, I was noticing last night about 10 on that the tornado warning were beginning. So scary. I am glad you have an app for that. :-) , sounded funny, didn't it.

Ginna, you sure have dropped the pounds with that DASH diet. Great picture on FB.

Sheila, I can't believe that I am still so ill. I have zero energy and am struggling to get out of bed each day despite the gorgeous weather outdoors. Your walks sound wonderful and I am really craving a good long walk on the beach. DH won't let me go until I'm better!

Teaching 1st grade today. Fun!!

Joined a group of crafting gals at Cooper school yesterday at 4:00PM. Fun time with teachers I have met in the classrooms. I used the time to knit on the hurricane pattern hat I have on the circular needle.

Storm come through here at 4:37AM and my phone weather warning went off with tornado alert. Weather has calmed down now to a light rain. Gotta get Kiwi out before I head to school.

What beautiful family pictures, Jean! Little Emmet is a real cutie to add to your family. You and Joe look great in the pictures also.
I know your stamina will hold up for your teaching. Those teachers must love having you come in to sub. They can call in and not have a worry. Have fun!

This isn't a fun morning. I'm sitting in the dealership waiting for a routine service on my car. At least they provide WIFI. Have a good day. I'd rather be walking at the subdivision's Lake.

Giving up caffeine has truly helped my sleep, and thus my energy level. The right choice for me.

Off to get my day in high gear.

Hugs for all of you

Recipe sounds delicious. I will definitely use this one. Must make the house smell great while it cooks, too.

Good Sunday morning.
Dreary, rainy, mixed snow/rain kind of day here, perfect for our dry conditions and a crock pot!
I make a 3 ingredient recipe that tops them all for flavour and ease.
Dried soup mix on bottom of crockpot, beef roast next, spread can od cranberry sauce over roast. Cover, cook on low 10 hours. I have used a pork roast and think chicken breasts or chicken pieces would work with a shorter cooking time.

That links to my own recipe book, if it does not work for you, and you care :-) let me know, I will use the website link.

Just stopping by to say good night. Bet you'll sledp good tonight Jojo. I tossed too much last night. I'm hoping my evening walk with Koby will make me sleep.

You are right, Sherry. I think I'll probably have to do something about the knee. I'll go back to the orthopedic and see what he thinks.

Night night, Everyone!

It is late afternoon here in Maine and it has been a beautiful day. I had a great therapy session yesterday but I am tired from it all still today. I did some household chores today which added to my now tiredness but I feel like I am beginning to accomplish some things rather than just look at them and get depressed! Now can hardly wait till I can begin raking the yard. Keep well everyone and have a wonderful week end. Jojo

Angela, hoping you are up and about more. Sounds like the two of you picked up quite a bug!

Ginna, hoping that knee doesn't get so painful that you will have no choice. Sounds like both Donna and JoJo left it as long as you possibly could. There is a pain threshold .

Jean, I was reading yesterday how much rain Texas had received, you could have sent some up here. Apparently I got too good at diverting snow and rain to Donna.

I am up early too, hoping to grab another hour or two yet!

Clear skies this weekend so hopefully cleanup can start for those most affected. We're are fine. Businesses and school are open once more.

I taught yesterday afternoon, and am subbing again today.

We may get to meet our new great grandson Sunday. We'll see.

Hugs for all of you.

Good to see you again JoJo. Glad you are feeling more like yourself.

Jojo, you have had quite a winter with the new knee. So glad that you have advanced into the therapy stage. I have also heard that the knee brings the more difficult recovery. I know so many people who have had really good results that it ends up being worth the pain. I know one of our members, Donna seems to have done very well with her new knee. Right now I still treat mine with pills, topical gel and the occasional cortisone shot. I think I need to go for another shot soon - had the last one last May.

I've got to go back to bed. I got up when I awoke and couldn't get back to sleep. Think I'm ready now.

Hi Ginnar emoticon for the welcome - Bravery had nothing to do with it - It was a forced decision - The pain was beyond endurance. It had come to bone on bone so after a meniscus tear repair and then discovering all the other problems - and going through a series of gel shots - there wasn't much of an option - then the opposite side acted up for the hip. I had an injection for that (2 months now) and that is buying some time before what may be another no choice option of hip replacement. BUT the upside of that is I have heard many reports that the hip replacement is minimal recovery to the knee. There is a lot of exercise, painful nights, tears, and depression linked to that recovery but that too is getting better. I had home health come in and they were so good. I am now in out- patient therapy and that is going well. God is good.
I have missed the group but the wall blurps have brought more friendships - Sparks has been a blessing in so many ways.

Glad to hear that our members are recovering, Bubblyfish from a bad cold and Jojo from knee replacement. Glad that both of you are around again. Welcome back. I probably need a new knee and hip as well. I'm not as brave as you, Jojo. Actually, not so much for the surgery - just that recovery. I can't stand the recovery time.

We had a beautiful walk in Chattahoochee National Park again this morning. Even better, I had over 11,000 steps when we finished.

Sherry, thanks for sharing insight on the tracker and the pictures. Guess I need to break down and borrow Dan's laptop. Of course, I don't know I'll find my pictures there or not.

Gwyn, I'm sorry about adding an "n" to Gwyn. I don't know which device to blame for that. It's probably this little phone - too new, I haven't had a chance to train it yet. I have that problem with Ginna . In fact it just changed it to Gonna and it often comes out Gina, even by family members.

Have a good day. I'm off to grocery shop.

Today I got out of bed, showered and went to make breakfast. Sounds pretty normal but that's the first time in a week! I've been in bed with a nasty cold, DH has too so we have coughed and sneezed together all week.

Still coughing lots but definitely on the mend. My Fitbit wonders where I've been!

It's good to see more of you back chatting on here.

Ginna, I find different tablets, phones, Laptops, desks tops, all relate differently with Spark; then some have apps, and they the work differently too. Must be a headache for the webmasters of Spark. Heck, you and I cannot spell Gwyn and get it right, no hope for the the tough stuff!
No clue on your picture issue. I know to add Winston today, I had to sign out of my iPad, then sign into my laptop where the pictures of Winston were stored. (Puppy lovers understand how their loss is so traumatic, thanks. )

Delish supper this evening next door. Apparently, pickled corned beef is only available at Costco in Phoenix, ( or maybe US) . pickled? That looks wrong. What do I mean! lol. It was awesome with boiled cabbage, potatoes and carrots. Topped off with Saskatoon Pie and ice cream! Oh yeah, and some red wine. :-) Great conversation, cross the lawn and we are home!
Julie made a Dutch oven bread that was just fabulous. Like a sour dough bread, fantastic!

Oh, and my photo gallery is working now.

Things are strange on Spark for me lately. Although I have been much better in tracking food, tonight I gave up. The problem may be using my tablet. I don't think it works perfectly with the regular Spark and the format for phones doesn't work that well either. It is just balky. Finally gave up tracking food. I do better with my smartphone, but it's upstairs on the charger.

Jean, i hope your rain slows down. You could share some in our direction. I'm tired of Dan turning on the sprinklers - too early for those summer water bills. This spring weater is great for getting in the steps. I am happy to be reaching 10,000 most days.

Sherry, I do have a question as you are our "techie" of the group. Do you know if the picture feature should synch with Google pictures? It doesn't give me that as an option to add pictures. I tried to add a picture but couldn't do it since I store in Google.

I'm so sorry to hear that little Winston has crossed the bridge. I know you and your family enjoyed him so much during his family's absenses. Winston certainly had a long wonderful life. He will be fondly remembered.

Lots of rain still. Got caught with Kiwi this morning in a fast developing deluge. We got soaked to our skin in just minutes and were quite far out on the nature trail. Took a while to warm up again, but all is well. I took him out just a half hour ago and we went further on the nature trail until the water across the trail was too deep for very long stretches. Still I hit my goal of 10,000 steps. Harder to do when I stay away from the mall. My back aches a bit, but the severe pinching is gone. Improvement!!

Hugs for all of you.

I'm here, I'm here! I think Jean is building an ark. emoticon

We are heading out this afternoon to visit friends that just put their doggie down. We used to keep Winston for them when they went away, so it is a sad loss for us also. We even took him on trips with us to visit family, and once on a painting contract at a cottage north of here. We were there a week! Winston was 17, lived a great life and was a rescue dog. He was a wonderful puppy friend and certainly will be remembered lovingly.

Then back to St. Albert to the neighbours for a corned beef supper! Complete with potatoes and cabbage, a one dish meal. The best!

I do see a bit of wine in my future ! Medicinal, of course.

Gwyn, Congratulations on the new job! That is really exciting.

Hope the paper work is getting done Sherry. Also hope Alberta is seeing some spring. Beautiful here today. Took Koby for a nice walk, then we headed to the golf course and more walking. I had well over my 10,000 steps when we got home.
