Today my daughter dropped by. We visited a little and then she took me to Walmart to pick up my pills. I later went to a very lively Bible study based on the the book of. Ruth. Today was the last nice day for a while. Tomorrow is rain and cooler weather. Goodnight all.

JEAN, did you say when they will come to fix your garage door so you and Joe can get the vehicles out? Sometimes it seems all the things in a house go at once!

Donna, sweet new pictures on your page. I cannot believe how the girls have grown. The boys are just adorable! Hope you get to visit them before the snow flies.

I love wood grain, RC, and something that strong has to be simple in design to maximize the beauty of the wood. Good job getting the link posted!

ALICE, did you find you were sore after walking with Leslie, Might have to start off a bit slower. Says I, who cannot seem to remember to take it easy when I am supposed to, sheesh.

I did very little today other than getting my friends from the airport. Talked to my Dr. office, maybe I told you that, and all is well leaving the bandage on, actually, they preferred it remained in place. That suits me as I cannot deal with the incision with it being on my back.
My neighbor who helped me yesterday when the incision started bleeding came over with soup today. I think it was a squash base, had quite a bit of flavor, not sure what, maybe cumin or curry. It was a bit too spicy for me but a can of brown beans later it was perfect! lol.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday, we could all go to Donna's thrift shop and buy some stuff we don't really need.
Did you ever go into an antique store only to find out half the stuff in there is also in your house?????

Hi all,

It seems to be the week to have nasty things removed. Went with my girlfriend today for her to have four things removed from her body. One was on her face, and the others on her upper body. Fortunately they were not cancerous so we were a couple of happy campers. Then it was off to have a delightful lunch, and some shopping after that. Left the house at 9 am. and was back at 4:30 pm.

Nice to see weight loss. Very impressive ladies. I was going to say wish I could brag about mine, but, wishing does not do it. I know how hard you have worked at it. Bravo.

Volunteer job at the thrift shop tomorrow. Always an interesting afternoon.

Sorry to hear that you are not having a good day S1. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Jean, your visitor sounds adorable. I love it when Cookie emoticon joins me on the bed or on my lap when I am in my recliner. I do not like the cat hair that is left on me and any other surface in the house. It is amazing how much hair that can come off one short haired cat.

Have a great evening/morning........whatever side of the pond you are on.

Yeah!! for grocery shopping with your dietary restrictions firmly in place. I hope you found many excellent contributions to healthy eating.

On the way home from my beauty consultation yesterday, I stopped at a grocery store in Tomball. I found a tremendous selection of sugar free candy. I wanted a bag of each, but didn't go that far. I certainly did buy some, and am so pleased with my discovery. This Tomball grocery store is just beyond my favorite local quilt shop.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

'Course my all time favorite is the Blanco quilt store, but I frequent the Tomball store a couple times a month.

Well, Laundry is nearly done. Tuna/pasta salad is chilling in the freezer for a short while. Joe is napping, and all is quiet here. Bella thought she should be able to play with Joe while he napped. Very funny. Kiwi has never tried that cause he can't jump up on our bed. Joe escorted the little one out of the bedroom and closed his door. Big grins here.

I am so sorry your recovery is unpleasant, to say the least. God bless you! Take it easy.

Good Afternoon Team. Just finished 4 hours of grocery shopping and paying bills. My back is ready to disown me. But I got in over 3 hours of walking so got plenty of exercise. I'll spend the rest of the day on the heating pad. It's been a steady drizzle all day here but at least the temperature is down some so it's not as bad out.
Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday.

Frustrated but hanging in there! My weight drops then bounces back, it's like 3 steps back 2 steps forward, but I guess I am getting somewhere, but ever so slowly. DRATS! So applaud those who can get their weight down.

I have to stop the treadmill for a few days, JEAN. Yesterday just plain walking started my incision bleeding, then going for a bag of groceries and carrying them did not help, so I have to rest. Geez, that kills me! I called my surgeons office for clarification on keeping the big bandage on, it's no longer giving me trouble, so all is well. Just felt better talking to them. Great office.

Off to the airport to pick up my friends back from California walking tour. I will just chauffeur, no bag lifting for me.

Will address everyone when I get home. Sure appreciate the concern.

Good morning friends!

Hope my brain is a little clearer today.

JEAN - congratulations! 120 lbs is an awesome weight that I'd love to be at and you got under it! Well done you emoticon

ALICE I walked indoors today as well - only 1 mile but that was after 20 minutes of yoga to get the joints working and followed by knee strengthening exercises. After that I walked to the post office and came back drenched (not rain but perspiration) and needing another shower. Its hot out here today!

Yesterday I went and bought new trainers so I could go to the gym again. I went last week but when I saw the state of my trainers I refused to go again until I got new ones. Not only did they have holes on the tops but part of the sole of each had fallen off - must be the heat! No excuse now.

SHERRY hope you are feeling better today. emoticon

The worst BCC's I had removed were on my back too. I have been treating some on my arms with Effudix cream which my dermatologist says is great on the little ones that you spot and treat right away.Kills them off if you catch them early and should keep them from developing further. It sure brought out a lot of them.

Thanks. Love you, too.

Sherry
I can't walk the mall this morning. Boo Hoo.

Yesterday the spring and the cable in our garage door opener broke. Both cars are trapped inside the garage. The company we use is short handed bc one of its employees broke his leg recently and cannot go on calls. So tomorrow we'll be free again, but not today. Not early tomorrow either bc we'll get a call between 8AM & 10AM for the mechanic to give us a two hour window of when he can come. It's not an emergency, so we opted not to pay for an emergency appointment.

Last week our garbage disposal broke spraying water all underneath the sink. Thankfully this past weekend Pam's friend could come out and replace that. Now the garage door makes Two inconveniences close together.

I have a wonderful announcement! I managed to break 120 pounds finally. I have not been below 120 in several years. Like Sherry, the extreme walking has paid off. I am beyond thrilled. Oh I still have a tummy, and sagging parts, but the weight is going in the right direction. My goal is 115 - - - so 4-1/2 pounds more to reach goal.

Hi all, I have not done anything interesting today. So I dug out a cute joke for all of you.

Midlife Crisis

Middle age is when all you want for your birthday is not to be reminded of it.

You are slightly past middle age if, before you step off the curb, you look down once more to make sure the street is still there.

Middle age is when, instead of combing your hair, you start arranging it.

Middle age had arrived when a man's idea of get-up-and-go is to go to bed.

Middle age is the time of life when the hardest thing to raise in your garden is your knees.

Childhood is the time when you make funny faces in the mirror.--Middle age is the time when the mirror gets even.

You can usually tell when you hit middle age: It starts hitting back.

You're middle aged if, when the air is springy, you're not.

Middle age is that time of life when you finally know your way around but don't feel like going.

Finally, the really frightening thing about middle age is the knowledge that you'll grow out of it.--Doris Day

Hey
Alice!
Thanks, I am now 78, so much closer to the 80's. I feel healthy, and can move once the morning stiffness is eased Tee hee hee. Bending over when I first feet up is tricky. I know lots of folks have early morning troubles. Not my dear Joe! But then he can't walk once he gets going. So I goes it's better to be stiff for an hour or so, than to have knees that won't let me walk up a storm.

You're looking wonderful yourself, Spring chicken. Those few pounds will not dare stick around. I know you can shoot them to the moon in no time.

How fortunate that it is covered. I think almost nothing is covered in the states unless one is indigent. I do get my annual exams with a low, low co-payment, but that's about it.

I am sorry your cancer went so deep, but gratified to know he kept at it until he was certain to get it all. You do know better than to postpone anything cancer. Dreading the procedure doesn't make it go away. Listen to your Mommie!! You're still young. Take care of yourself, dear friend.

Alice
Off with that weight! Keep pushing yourself. You can do this.

We do so love Mac Island so I think of you often when I daydream about the island. Such a paradise. I suppose it has lost its magic for you after all these years, but we love it.

Hoping for good news from you. Continue to get stronger every day.

I had my MaryKay beauty consultation today. Delightful. I did NOT splurge on the $199.00 moisturizing package. Really??? Whew!! I've recently begun a routine using Naturalizer (with Retinol), and I use a good over the counter moisturizer. I bought a new creamy foundation with better coverage for my aging spots. I added cream rouge in a coppery hue, and likewise a more coppery lipstick. It's autumn, and the natural look of the new shades will compliment the fall colors in my wardrobe. My pink rouge powder is nearly gone, and powder just seems to emphasize my deep wrinkles. I'm hoping the cream variety will help my dry skin.

Fun to pamper myself ---as long as I didn't go overboard.

Have a blessed day,

Sherry
Get well. You hear!!

BTW, this procedure is covered under our basic health care in Canada because it is medically required. It's done in a Dr.s office, lots of specialized staff. Local freezing, day surgery only.

Good morning again, I think I am going to live. Was not so sure at my last post, but 3 more hours sleep and tylonal did the trick. I will stick to taking the tylonal every 4 hours for a couple days.

ALICE, I had a couple small spots on my back that needed to be removed as they were skin cancer, the common one, basal cell. I had put it off a bit too long, I know. Trouble with these things is they look innocent enough from the top, but the cancer tissue can run deep and spread. There's always the worry of Melanoma and that is not a good thing.

I have had many removed, lots of scars, most no one can see, I have a good Plastic Surgeon. Have to say this is the worst.

Some technical stuff.

You may remember Joni having eye surgery because of basal cell carcinoma, but hers was on her eyelid, what a terrible place to have surgery. Her surgeon used the same technique as mine, MOHS Surgery. "During the surgery, after each removal of tissue, while the patient waits, the tissue is examined for cancer cells, and that examination informs the decision for additional tissue removal.
Two isolated studies reported cure rate for primary basal cell carcinoma as low as 95% and 96%". Using this technique, the chance these things grow back is very unlikely.

My doc came back in once to go at it again, one reason it took so long. You wait about 20 minutes for results so I had two waiting periods before he sewed me up. Of course, the freezing kept coming out, I really was beginning to stress over more needles, but the options were not good, emoticon

And THATS THE REST OF THE STORY!

Good morning from a sunny Port Charlotte!

Today is day two of my exercise streak. Yes I know its only 2 days but its a start, you know they say from little acorns grow great oaks! Hmm!! I guess that's not a good saying - who wants to be a great oak?!

Anyways, I am getting up at 6 am now and doing 20 mins yoga, 20 mins Walk at Home and then a knee massage and strengthen routine. This morning I followed that with a 20 min cycle ride. I'm not sure about the Walk at Home as I really like to get outdoors but we get such a lot of rain here at present and I need to do something I can be consistent at without have nature made excuses. Keep thinking I'll go for an afternoon swim but then it rains every afternoon!

Sherry and Jean, I'm not even thinking of competing with your steps but I do love to see you at the top of my friends list. Its just inspiring to see how far you both walk - you're amazing!

Must do some work now.

Have a nice day everyone!

PS Sherry, not sure how I got into the chat midway through a few days past but I only saw your post after I just posted. Hope you're feeling better now, that sounds like a lot of stitches. What did you do?

PPS Ok Sherry don't answer that I can see that I missed a whole lot of posts so I'm going to read them now. Wishing you well my cheery friend. emoticon

Good morning peeps, just done 2 miles with Leslie and it killed me I feel so out of shape.
SUSIE Q where are you I need you bum wiggling in front to give me some encouragement.

SHERRY Knees and legs were fine but need those meds, the Doctor rung about the MRI scan and he can only see some wear and tear on the spine that he would expect to see in someone my age but is still conferring with another department??? he increased the meds.
NOW what on earth has happened to you, please let me know. It sounds very serious I cant imagen what has caused you to have that amount of stitches.
Hope your not in too much pain my friend.

GINNAR Nice to see your smiling face this morning, how ya doing girl.

DELORES Good idea buying those stamps, our stamps are dearer than the cards now.

DONNA Nice to see you are still swimming, fresh orange juice and coffee got my taste buds going.

MANNI so sorry to hear you havnt been well and hoping your better and back with us soon.

Good morning team!
I've been off Spark for so long and I've missed you. Tried to get on here several times during the summer, but couldn't get around those blasted pop-ups with my tablet. Decided to give it one more try this a.m. So far I haven't encountered the problem.

I'm glad to see some familiar names on here. And, my dear friend, Jean, mentioned me. I've thought of you often, Jean, when walking with Koby along the shore. I'm really glad to see you.

Sherry, I'm hoping that your surgery on your back is doing well and not bothering you too much - especially with your walking program. I'm still walking with Koby, although not any great distances. I do miss that, but my knee doesn't really do well for too much over 2 miles.

I'll try this again if the pop-ups don't reappear!

Hi all, I haven't been on lately because I am having trouble with my cell and my computer is a little temperamental too. I have been busy as always walking around town in this beautiful weather. We walked to the post office to pick up some of those forever stamps. You pay the current price and if the cost goes up they are still good. I figured I would get them now because they are talking about closing our local post office and I now have a good supply. We went for a nice long walk the other day and we nearly walked 5 miles.

I guess the best news I have is that my sister is throwing a birthday party for her husband. He is turning 80 and she is throwing a huge party. I am in charge of getting all my side of the family there. I am using Facebook since that is the best way to get my kids to respond. The party will be October 19th and my dd has promised there will be a seat for Leon and I in her van. I am holding my breath on that one but I think she will follow through.

I read some of the posts and I see Alice is back and enjoyed her trip completely. I hope to be back tomorrow night. See you all then. Goodnight all.

Welcome home ALICE, so wonderful you had such a good time. How did the knee and legs tolerate the holiday?

I had a "fun filled day" to be sure. 4 1/2 hours in the surgical suite, 11 internal stitches and 22 external stitches. I can tell you I will no longer slouch. It feels like I walk like a soldier, straight and stiff. Haha, my back has had a facelift!
I had been concerned about after care with Terry away and me not being able to get at my back, but the dressing is to stay on till the 15th, then I go back for dressing removal and stitch removal. If I need wound attention then, Terry will be home on 17th so I just need a fill in for a couple days.

Needless to say, weightlifting is out of the question. grin.

So limit my forward arm movements, no lifting, get lots of rest. JEAN, the Fitbit will not be registering many steps for the next few days.

All is well, just a tad sore as the freezing is easing off. emoticon

Hi Peeps I am back from my travels, Spain was great and we packed lots into our 5 days. Had one scare when my friend took someone's case off the coach, the girl came to claim it but she didnt have hers, lucky enough we had a genuine driver who returned it in tacked, inside was her bag, money and passport so VERY lucky indeed.
My friend is going home tomorrow and there will be tears I will miss her like mad as we have had a right laugh and get on so well. Today we have been shopping and pie and mash for lunch.
I have put on 8 pounds and weigh nearly as much as I did when I first start Spark in 2008 so tomorrow will be emoticon and I am climbing back on the wagon, I hate not getting in my clothes and having this big roll round the middle BUT boy have I enjoyed every mouthful.

Hope you have all been good, will play catch up tomorrow emoticon

Thanks for asking. Megan is coping. Not completely over her wedding cancellation trauma, but is striving for Peace.

I finished the fifth chemo cap last night before tucking in to sleep. Today I started a white one. No sure when it will be done. The challenge ends tomorrow. I need to scope out a good place to donate the caps. Not there yet.

Congrats everyone on lbs lost and walking etc. done. I just finished showering after my trip to the pool. Laundry is on, fresh orange juice squeezed. Breakfast and coffee next and then golly gee, some bills to pay.

Mani nice to see you check in and yes I would not bother with a dishwasher if I had domestic help. The problem is you just get so use to having these things. Anyway, back on the road tomorrow to see what I can find.

Sue, welcome back. Glad you had a nice time. Now we just have to wait for Alice to check in.

Ree, you are doing a marvelous job and the situation you are in is certainly not easy.

Vicki great news on the weight loss. I am sure the Dr. will be thrilled with you both.

Has anyone seen Gayle lurking. emoticon you hoo Gayle where are you?

Ah washer is finished must go empty the machine so I can start again.

Jean glad to hear Bella knows who is boss. How is Megan doing?

Have a great day everyone. Hi to everyone emoticon

Sorry the bug got to you so severely. Yes, it takes quite a while to get over bugs as the years come by.

Ree
I do hope your family can step in and help you out. If he was well, he would never be so demanding of your time and attention. God bless you as you continue to cope with this. Do seek help from the resources close enough to step in for you.

Sherry
Carcinoma has to be taken care of quickly for the best results. Glad you are finding your spots and staying on top of the game. Coffee later for you, dear one. Congratulations on your recent Volkssport walk. Way to go. Knock 'em dead!!

I am getting healthy walks with the little four legged friends, but not much in the mall. Bella is sleeping well, and responding to love and attention. She's quite a cuddle bear.

I have finished four chemo caps now and will find a place to donate them. So happy to use the yarn for something worthwhile. My fingers have been busy while Joe watches sports on TV. I still have white yarn to use up, and will tackle that next.

Time for my shower and breakfast.

Have a wonderful day.

Good Afternoon everyone....

I know haven't been posting here for a while as I have been overwhelmed with health issues. Caught a tummy bug almost 10 to 12 days ago, was laid up for 3 days and am still recouping my energy....my stamina since has declined and i seem to get tired very easily.

Jean loved reading about your grand-puppy Bella...Awwwww that is so cute keeping the kids posted on how she is doing and you trying to discipline her.

Sherry good luck with the surgery....sending prayers up for you love....

Ree hope you are feeling better, I know at our age and situation it doesn't take too much to overwhelm us and throw us off balance.

Sue...congratulations on the weight loss.

Vicki great going on the weight loss you really are doing a great job with Bob.

Donna2 hope you get a new dishwasher soon before the weather gets chill....well we in India eat so much of oil and spice that we need to stick with the old fashioned way of cleaning. We don't use a dishwasher here....but yes we do have enough domestic help to do the dishes after we have eaten.

Norma grat going on the weight loss....

Have a great new week everyone....

Hugs, Prayers & Blessings

Good morning all, pretty much back to normal after our mini break.

Sherry, good luck with the surgery, mum had a few of those done, and all was well (years ago but they healed fine)
I read your post quickly and thought you had done 11K in half an hour lol....faster than a speeding bullet!

Almost back to pre holiday weight, another 1/2 lb to shift, hopefully by tomorrow, think most of it was water from travelling on the bus, ankles and knees certainly swelled up.

Our break was great, weather beautiful, just a couple of showers one day, but temps in low 80's, and we had long walks on an almost deserted beach, even saw some seals in the sea, great.
That is holidays done for us now until Christmas, when Ralph has booked a couple of days off as he should be working and likes to be at home!

Hope we all have a great week, Sherry give us a shout when you are done and we will get the coffee on emoticon

JEAN, sounds like updates "from Camp" are in order, grin. Glad all is settling down.

I only did 30 minutes on the treadmill, that's half my pledge, but I did walk 11km, that just over 2 hours, so that's helpful. Tomorrow I will not do any exercise as I am having some MINOR surgery on two basal cell carcinoma spots on my back. All will go well, but I know speed walking or running is not going to be part of my day. I will check with doc about further activity. A lot is apt to be determined once surgery is completed.
I have had many of these removed, it's routine, not a concern. Worst part is no coffee in the morning as it has some blood thinning qualities.

Take care everyone!

Bella has truly settled down. Perhaps the bulk of her yappiness yesterday was adjusting to all the sounds of our house. She slept in her own cage in our bedroom last night, and never peeped even though we get up during the night. Today she was a happy camper, and loves her walks. At home she performs mostly in their pool area. I tried her out in our privacy area, and she just sniffed everywhere, but nada. With the leash on she relieves herself almost immediately.

My son and DIL are texting daily for updates, and I respond with photos of a happy little dog. Tonight my son even called. This little dog has traveled everywhere with my DIL, even to Michigan for a month. Separation anxiety for them, but not Bella. She's attached herself to me which we sort of thought would happen.

Kiwi likes her, and willingly walks with us every time I take her out.

This nasty Grandma got the best of that yappy puppy with the water spritzer and a sharp, "NO!". It really works. They told me she would bark and bark in the evenings for attention until I figured out what she wanted. When she tried, I yelled, "NO!", and shot a stream of water at her. Very surprised little gal. Then I did give her an empty toilet paper roll to play with. That roll and empty capped water bottles seem her favorite quiet pastimes. She messed with the roll for a short while, and then climbed up beside me and sat quietly while I knit and Joe watched sports on TV.

They left treats for both Kiwi and Bella, and I am using them sparingly. I believe little ones can be controlled with tough love. So far, so good.

I did take the two dogs for a 2-1/2 mile walk on the nature trail yesterday. That tired them out satisfactorily. I'll continue to work with Bella while she's here. She is loved, but will not rule our lives.

Beautiful warm weather here. I see S1 has sent us some good weather for a change. I think this is her first effort. emoticon She always send the lousy weather. That is a guarantee.

There are a few people missing. Nice to see Dottee checking in. We are still missing Mani, Barb, Roger. I hope all is well with them. Gayle is also hiding from us. Anyone else? Nice to see Vicki posting. I know some are away.......lucky them, but should be back soon.

Yesterday wrote a chat and when I came back to the computer about 9 pm which was about 12 hours later, I noticed I had not sent it. Therefore, I can assume you did not read it. emoticon

DS and DIL are coming for supper tonight. My son will barbecue. I am off to church this morning.

I am on the market for a new dishwasher. My old one, which came with the condo, is leaking on the bottom. I am using the "old fashion way" as my DGD told me, to wash the dishes. I am not in a hurry.

Well, must get organized for church. Put my face on, put my pants on. Certainly cannot forget those and step out into that beautiful weather.

Blessing and enjoy this day.

Good evening, SATURDAY, IT IS!

Pulled my boot straps up, better day today. I went to the mall and did 10,000 steps and then hit the treadmill for an hour. I remembered I had an app called CRACKLE, which delivers free movies to my iPad. The App is free also. The movies are older, but I certainly enjoyed Denzel Washington as the good guy and John Travolta as the bad guy while I hot footed through the first hour of the movie on the treadmill.

VICKIE, good work on the weight loss for both of you.

JEAN, that yappy puppy might just get annoying. We have one that visits and the barking gets very tiresome! I am glad you caught up on your sleep.

I am hoping Mani is feeling better, she's been quiet, for sure. Maybe we should send her some flowers, I will get on that! Virtually, of course.

Walking a 10 km with my group tomorrow, gonna be tough to add an hours treadmill. I must try, maybe 2-30 minute walk/runs. It seems to be helping.

emoticon everyone.

Bob is coming around. As of this morning he's down 20 lbs, and he's getting used to eating the smaller sized meals. Getting the NU-SALT helped a lot. He really likes it ( I can't stomach it, I use Mrs. Dash on what I season for me ). And he's moving around a little more. He can't get over the fact that he's lost so much excess fluid in his feet, it's no longer a struggle to get his shoes on ( I have to put them on for him as he can't do it himself at this time).
And with me following the same plan, I'm down a full 10 lbs myself since the 13th.

At 6:30AM we picked up our son and DIL and drove them to the airport, then returned to their house and picked up her dog, Bella. So Bella is here with us now for two weeks while they vacation in Hawaii. She certainly is a yappy dog. Goodness! Hope she settles down.

We are without sunshine, so perhaps we'll get a drop or two of rain, too.

I actually got some good rest last night. Tomorrow begins a new week, and all should be well.

My Taurus horoscope tells me today is the first day of the rest of my life, is not every day that? But it does say if I make a fresh start today I will never need to make another fresh start again.
I did make a few decisions in the night when I couldn't sleep , that's before I read my horoscope.. Will see what the day brings . Enjoy your weekend. Ree

Had a great time though, it will soon come off. Catching up with washing now and waiting for our shopping to be delivered, will catch up here in the next couple of days emoticon

Boy NORMA, that's great news! Let's order pizza! emoticon

Little under on my hour treadmill pledge, just 53 minutes. Made my 10,000 steps, barely! Seemed to be a tough day, maybe the rain and cold. No Volkssport walk till Sunday, I had better get my act together for Saturday and pull my socks up!

JEAN, hope you sleep well tonight.

Yep! Had a nap. Can't say it was a good idea, but I don't feel so wiped out. I had an awful time trying to wake up. Kiwi needed a walk, so a short stint outside helped me come around.

Oh, gosh! I looked at the AB exercises on SP. Now I know why I don't do them. I have a crushed vertebra that would just knock me out if I did something stupid. I will see how I can modify them or try something else. I will not destroy my back. The walking has been exceptionally good for me - strengthening me in places I forgot were weak.

I'll get on the bandwagon with something. Let me think when my sleep rhythm is back under control.

Joe and I went out for a simple dinner. I am so bone tired. I am going to actually lay down for a while. I hardly ever do that bc it ruins my sleep patterns. But, we get up at 4:45AM to take our son and DIL to the airport in the morning before returning to their house to pick up little Bella. I just can't face more sleep deprivation. So I'll gamble that a rest now won't create turmoil tomorrow.

Probably No mall walk tonight. I did pick up a couple miles at school. Yeah!!, but no record setting steps today.

ANGELA, now you can settle into a routine and maybe slot a specific exercise thing. Just getting away from the office turmoil is a necessary diversion. Maybe we can start sit ups, (ugh) or pick a video from here and pledge todo it sometime during the day. It is too difficult for you to compete against us old ladies....BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA , you really have understand my sense of humor and know that is teasing. Seriously, you just cannot compete with Jean and I stepwise, we have so much more free time than you. Let's think of something else. I, for one, really need the motivation, or I would sit all day!

JEAN, how sweet the kids were so happy to see you, that must make your whole day one big smile. The younger grades are far more pleasant, I am sure.

"The best part of a sweaty workout is quitting."

Ok, so let's not use that as a motto! It's how I felt when the treadmill ended the 40 minute routine, though. I still have to modify the speeds, making them not so high, but I know I could do it before, I just have to regain that momentum.

So....give me some other POSITIVE reasons to do serious exercise. I will start:

1. Make those scales move downward.

Yes, the hot milk and time of night finally did me in. Thank goodness. I suppose I'll be silly tired after dinner. Just hope I do not pick up virus with all these new kid germs bc I did't get enough sleep. I was in bed for over two hours before I gave up. Wonder if that counts as resting even though I was awake. Very frustrating!

As always teaching is a delight. Today is 3rd - 5th grade music. Great kids. I've been their substitute multiple times before now. Big hugs from some. I had morning corridor duty, and several wee ones ran up and hugged me before heading on.

Good morning everyone!

Back in Port Charlotte again now emoticon

That was a long hard trip to Davenport. So much work to do in so little time but we made it. DH was too tired to drive home after doing all the garden work so I drove. Got back here at 19:00 and went straight to bed with a headache. Feeling much better today!

My coffee app worked this morning - DH brought mine to bed for me. emoticon

Now to get back into a good routine.

Have a lovely weekend friends. emoticon

Sorry I've been gone for so long...

It was a hot Saturday evening in the summer of 1959 and Fred had a date with Peggy Sue.

He arrived at her house and rang the bell.

"Oh, come on in!" Peggy Sue's mother said as she welcomed Fred in.

"So, what are you and Peggy planning to do tonight?" she asked.

"Oh, probably catch a movie, and then maybe grab a bite to eat at the malt shop, maybe take a walk on the beach..."

"Peggy likes to screw, you know," Mom informed him.

"Uh...really?" Fred replied, with raised eyebrows. "Is that so?"

"Yes," said the mother. "As a matter of fact, she'd screw all night if we let her!"

"Well, thanks for the tip," Fred said as he began thinking about alternate plans for the evening.

"Have fun, kids," the mother said as they left.

Half an hour later, a completely disheveled Peggy Sue burst into the house and slammed the front door behind her.

"The TWIST, Mom!" she angrily yelled at her mother. "THE DAMN DANCE IS CALLED THE TWIST!!!"

We were without a dog for years at a time. I always wanted another dog. Joe hopes each time will be the last, although he is kind and attentive with them, too. Perhaps this little guy will indeed be my final one. He's a great walking buddy, but all pets are demanding. Finding a place for a four legged darling when we want to travel becomes complicated. Time will tell if it's wise to have a new friend after Kiwi. I know you understand.

My lesson plans arrived via email, so I'm all set for tomorrow.

Giggling about the dog. We often take in friend's dogs as we do miss our Saylor, and a part time dog works well for us. As soon as we get those bags of toys, we put them away, so they can be returned in their entirety, then get out Saylor's toys, plus all the new ones we have picked up along the way! I never remember to give the treats, likely a good thing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Darn! I'm teaching tomorrow. Hard to fit anything in around teaching. We'll see how whipped I am after a day with the kids.

I do want to start ab workouts. Maybe I can pledge an amount of minutes per week, but not per day. That might work out just fine for me.

Oh, Pumpkin flavored Culver's is my absolute favorite. I am on sugar restrictions, but it still sounds fantastic. Yum, Yum! for sure.

I would drool for Starbucks pumpkin latte, but I know the sugar content has to be murderous.

Got a pale blue eyeglass holder necklace put together yesterday only to find I didn't have the findings to finish it. So today I shopped both Michael's, and Hobby Lobby looking for the white plastic do-thingy that grips the glasses. Hobby Lobby had them, so the search is over, and I can finish off the job.

I'm knitting a black chemo cap, and a brown one. Black is so difficult for me to see, it can only be done here at home in good light. The brown one I can take to school tomorrow to play with if I have a period without students. I'll take my iPad, too, in case I get bored without kiddos. Not likely to happen my first day back.

I get my DIL's little Brussels Griffin year old dog Saturday for 14 days while they visit Hawaii. They came over last night with a BOX of food and treats, a BOX of toys, her Day bed, a spare leash, and special dishes. Oh, wow! Can you say high maintenance? After we drop them at the airport, we'll return to their home to pick up the dog, her leash, her sleep cage with bedding, her travel cage, more toys, and more snacks. She's a cute dog, and barks in your face to get attention. You have to figure out what she "needs" by process of elimination. Joe told DIL she may have a "different tempered" dog when they return for her. Tee-hee-hee.

I have nine and a half substituting days scheduled between now and March 3rd. Pleased about that. Perhaps more will come once I show up in the building and the teachers realize I am still on the approved list. emoticon

I need to lay everything out tonight before I go to bed, so I can get my head on straight so early in the morning.

Hi Dottee, good to see you again. I knew you were busy with your book, glad you have it all wrapped up and ready for #8!

I decided today, after reading Angela say she changed up her exercise routine and added a Leslie video, that I would dust off the treadmill and give myself a work out. I was way under my 10,000 steps and the thought of walking just did not appeal to me. I thought I was in pretty good shape, but NOT! I had sweat dripping off me onto the treadmill base! I have intended to give the Treadmill away, looks like it stays in the family a little longer! I am surprised it survived the winter in the garage, as the garage is not heated, and heaven knows it gets bitter cold in there. But still, I bet I can use it a good part of the time. Maybe I won't sweat when it is freezing out there!!!

emoticon I pledge a full week of 60 minutes or more on the treadmill, of between 3 and 4.5 mph. Anything after 3.6 and I have to run, so I will combine running and walking.

Anyone else want to pledge a week of something different and something that will change up your usual routine?

Actually, NORMA did the same thing with her new exercise machine... Let's give this a try!

Hi all, I had a busy day today. This morning we decided to go to the library. Now as you know I am in and out that library 2 or 3 times weekly and I had read the sign on the front door saying closed Wednesday the 24th for staff in service. You would a think I'd remember. So instead we went to the Chocolate Cafe for hot chocolate with whipped cream and a cherry on top. I then went to my usual meeting in the afternoon. My church had their Bible study and the lady who picked me up had to drop her husband off at Culver's so we went in and he bought me some pumpkin ice cream. At least I had a salad for dinner. Bad day but it was all so good. emoticon

I'll head for bed now. Goodnight.

Hello everyone,
emoticon I bet you thought you'd never see me again...but here I am.

I was busy working 24/7 getting my 7th book ready for publication. I finally have it all in to the printer and hope to get the proofs back within two weeks. My son illustrated the cover for me.

So I thought I'd stop by and say Hi and see what you guys were up to. And here you all are chit chatting away. Believe it or not, this is the first chance I had to get over here.

It's good to see you Jean, Sherry, and Norma. Wow! Norma you are doing fabulous with your weight loss.

I am now walking 6,800 steps a day but the weight is kinda stuck at this point. At least it is not going up. My blood pressure is good too and I attribute that to the walking.

Hoping to drop in every so often. emoticon

Thanks, Sherry

Wow! 90 years and still sharp as a tack. I would love to be like that. My memory lapses scare the dickens out of me. I think I am doing remarkable better with my increased walking Kicks up the metabolism, and general conditioning. Another reason to walk.

That's great JEAN! CONGRATULATIONS! Onward and UPWARD!

I was invited to a lunch with some of my walking ladies, really nice to be included, too. Met the mother of one of the ladies, 90 years young, sharp as a tack. What a delight! Home made soup and pie, garden carrots and tomatoes, lots of laughter and all problems of the world discussed and solved over coffee. Couldn't be better!

Background music was Alpine Yodelling and Cow Bells. I was thankful my hearing aid could not pick it up. emoticon

(And that was all in one song!)
