We are combining the Chatterbox topic and the Walk Chat topic into one topic for the team. Please go to the new CHATTER BOX topic . The goal is to be together, not duplicate efforts, one spot to check, one united team. Hear is the new link.

Good Morning. Any April Fools jokes get you? I have not been anywhere else on the computed except here, so have not fallen into any traps yet. But then, the day is not over. lol.

I did not catch any comments from this Chat regarding Lola's concern to bring our Chatting Thread down to one location. I have some thoughts and I also posted the thoughts and the concerns to the Walk Chat.

As Lola said, we had two Chat threads to separate exercise and chatter, and also back then it was not unusual to have over 50 posts a day here and keeping up with that much chatter was impossible for some so the Walk Chat provided a smaller venue to for those who had less time to read and respond.

It would seem to me that the only person who has not drifted over to the Walk Chat is Fran, and I know, for me personally, I miss chatting with her.

So, I lean to having just one thread, A NEW THREAD and close the current threads off. We can add Thread Closed to the topic name to ensure previous members don't wander onto closed threads. . (Lola, hope I am not wrong on that, used to be we could not change a topic name, but I believe the person who started the thread can now edit the name, and that would be you and me)

I do like the name Chatterbox, it is exactly what this is, a box to chat in. Perhaps just a spelling change would work. Call it CHATTER BOX

Thanks for the Title and Composer Dolores. It was getting very uncomfortable on the tip of my tongue. It's beautiful music with or without lyrics, and in any language.

Hi all, You are right, it is Beethoven who wrote The Hymn to Joy.
We had a wonderful Easter day. My daughter arrived just at the end of breakfast. Her husband Danny was able to wolf down some before service began. The service was wonderful as usual. I was able to introduce my daughter and her family to my friends at church. Then they had to go to his mother's house for Easter dinner.

Leon and I hurried home and had quick sandwiches for lunch so we could watch the Notre Dame women beat Kansas and Skylar Diggins break the total scoring record for the Notre Dame women's teams ever. Now they are in the great eight.

I didn't make any big dinner for Easter. I gave Leon the choice of meals and of course he chose cheese burgers and fries. The burgers were turkey and the FFs were sweet potato fries baked. I added peas I stayed within my calories which is saying a lot considering the big breakfast the church fed us.

Well, I am going to bed now and I will see you all tomorrow.

The musical link I posted is for, "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee!" It is in my hymn book, but I have never heard it played more beautifully than it is in the orchestra's mob flash video. I can sing the English version while listening to it in another language.

Beautiful, Jean. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's too easy for me to not take the time to listen to music, and it's such a treasure for us all.

Be well, Tomorrow is April 1 .... and not fooling.

I, too, thoroughly enjoyed the music. So glad you liked it, too. Beautifully presented and played. Not sure about the composer.

Hi all, We had an almost spring day today. We went to the library because I had some books to return and some reserved to be picked up. We then went from there to walk along the river. A lot of others had the same idea. There were bikes, joggers and many walkers like us. A lot of them had dogs with them. Leon loves to pet the dogs and he got the chance often.

Tomorrow my church is having Easter breakfast and Ida has promised to bring her family and stay for church. That will make me so happy if they can make it. Then I will have chicken and fixings instead of turkey or ham. It will be only the two of us.

I enjoy the Easter season and I try to catch as many services as I can. I forgot to say that I had gone to the local Methodist Church for their Good Friday service. It was almost completely music.

Jean, I loved your link to the beautiful music. That was Handel wasn't it? I enjoy beautiful music.

Hi all, I know I am late. I crashed my computer. It went completely black and I couldn't figure out what I had done. I finally figured it out 3 hours later. I have a box under my desk and I kicked it into the surge protector switch. I turned it off which cut all the power to the computer. DUH! emoticon I couldn't get on here with my stupid phone but my son had set it up with Facebook access. Anyone who wants to check there you will see an interesting discussion with my DSon.

I had a wonderful day today. My DD did show up and take me out for dinner we went to Hacienda's Restaurant. I tried something new, and they snuck a cake and hat in on me. I had a wonderful time since she brought her DH and little Emmy with her. There are pictures on my page if anyone is interested.

Now I have to get off here and go to bed. Goodnight.

Times have been changing. Originally this was a diet support thread then as we all grew to know each other chatter became more and more important. I'm not bemoaning getting to know our internet friends, I think the friendships are just as important as the diet motivation. Our mental health is as important as our physical health. Connections with other people is a huge part of my mental balance at this point in my life. That said, I do not have the time or ability to keep personal contact with the Spark members.

The walking chat was started to be a tool for physical encouragement and it has been a tremendous support for that. Originally the chat was to be on the main chat line and the walk topic was a side topic where we could get support for activities. Sherry is a major motivational spark to all of us.

Chat was here - activities were there. As time progressed, more chatting over there but Marie kept the spark for personal contact going here. Here - there. We are all together in our goal for a healthier future, no matter where we chat.

I don't want to make any changes unilaterally, This is a team.

(I miss Marie!)

I agree with Delores. Most of us have gone over to the Walk Chat.

I truly believe Marie kept this thread going bc she consistently had a personal message for each of us here. I cannot take her place. Neither can you or Sherry. We do miss her terribly, but I think this thread was active bc of her loving care of each of us. It's just too time consuming to send a personal message to everyone on the thread. Marie painstakingly did that on a regular basis.

Blessing wished for all those who do mention others in their message.

If you think it's time to disband this thread, I will understand. I do check in here, but like Delores I often just paste my message from the Walk thread over here.

Hugs for all

Hi all, We went for a walk today since the sun was shining and the temperature was beautiful. This evening we went to Maundy Thursday service at our church. Tomorrow my DD is coming to take me out for lunch, hopefully. She still owes me my birthday present. We shall see what happens.

It seems that everyone has defected to the Walk Chat forum. Should we just forget this Chatterbox or should we insist that the chattering should be done here and the walk and exercise reports on there? I usually put the same information on both places and so do others. It's a toss up as far as I am concerned.

Wow!! A Baptist church in our area has rented the pavilion for Easter Sunday and is releasing the largest amount of butterflies ever from Texas, plus they are serving Free Starbucks coffee. Now that should bring some unchurched folks out on Easter Sunday. It's not our congregation, but I am impressed.

March is about over --- now we can see if "In Like a Lion - Out Like a Lamb" really means anything.

Easy day today, just some office-type work and I'm through for the day.

I was ready to go out and walk after an errand but it started raining again. Wish I were more excited about walking in the rain..... Where's Gene Kelly when I need him?

Way to go. Buying your own presents gives you exactly what you want.
Hope your daughter is well soon.

Friend Hank was good yesterday in the daytime, but started trying to pull his IV's out at night. They moved him closer to the nursing station to keep an eye on him. I'm sure he is still "out of it."

Spring is trying to settle in. Not there yet.

Hi again,
Today my daughter and her family were to take me out to dinner but she wasn't feeling well so it was postponed until Friday. I hope her doctor's apointment can figure out the problem for her quickly. So I went out this afternoon and picked out my own birthday present. I shop at a small toy store for my grandkids' presents and I had a credit so I got my present for the cost of the tax. I then went to the Chocolate Shop across the street and bought a small bit of chocolate as well. Wonderful birthday presents if I say so myself.

Now am getting ready to watch the Notre Dame women play in the second round in the tourney. I will see you all tomorrow.

Hi Lola, Happy Birthday to you too.

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes. I got many Birthday wishes from some of you on Facebook as well as here. Today is my birthday but my friend had to help me celebrate early. My DD had already set up dinner out with her family for today. At least I heard from my DSon today. He left a note on my facebook and text on my cell phone. (Real personal)

I just got a call from my DD. She has been struggling with a very bloody nose problem and will have to put off getting together until Friday. It figures. Good thing my friends think of me.
I will bbl with more.

I don't toss pots either. I cannot tell you how old some of my pots are now. Ancient!!

Megan and Elliott came for dinner. It was fun. They stayed after and helped me walk the two dogs. Elliott returns to school tonight for classes in the morning, so they didn't stick around. We knew it would be an eat-and-run time. OK by us.

I ordered Megan's Michael Graves spinning top teakettle on line after she left from Amazon. She loves Joe's taste in architectural designs, so it had to be a Michael Graves for her birthday. J. C. Penny's here in our mall is remodeling a space to carry Michael Graves designs later this Spring. I'll enjoy browsing in that department.

It's in the 50's already and dropping overnight again. Should be great sleeping weather.

We had a long, quiet weekend with just the normal things ... visits from friends, a little yard work, some cooking, some laundry, some spiffing up around the house - same old same old same old. Skies are still dreary and will be for the next week. Some neighbor cat decided our garden would be a good litter box and has scratched up some of the lettuce seedlings. I won't need to thin them.... and might buy some bigger starts just because I'm impatient for the fresh salads. I put some long branch twigs along the row to try to discourage the felines from their scratching. A greenhouse would be fun - could putter and keep the wandering pets out of the dirt.

We've got a break in the drizzle/downpour weather and I'm going to get the lawn mowed this afternoon - and maybe take care of some weeds and leaves.... I think the sun is trying to shine. The sky is full of puffy white clouds with tiny patches of blue between. The yard is calling me. The time may come when we'll have to have a yard service but right now I'm counting this as good exercise and I do enjoy being outdoors when it's not too cold, too wet, too windy, too hot.

I'm going to forego planting pots of flowers this year - and will put everything in the ground where it is easier to keep it watered and looking good. Yeah, right. Anyway, that's my plan now. The soil in the pots is getting old and hard - need to replace it before anything goes in. I may be excited about flowers at some point so won't toss the pots.

Hi all, Today we went to the library just to watch the Easter celebrations going on down town. There were kids everywhere getting face paintings, easter eggs, and even free stuffed bunnys. The library had something going on in the children's department. Lots of the stores had special things going on as well. It was fun just to wander around watching the kids and their parents.

I'm going to have to get to bed. Goodnight all.

Good morning to the Chatters.

Ah, Delores, we're not getting older! We're getting wiser. There is no older, there are only more layers of perfection. Hugs to you!

I put books on my 'hold' list for the library and they send me notices when they are available. Right now I have 5 books checked out ...... and no time to read right now. I feel asleep last evening with my Nook in my hand, head on the pillow, and I was down for the night.

I'm waiting for a break in the wet weather so I can do some more cleaning up in the yard. There are still leaves under the bushes that are left over from the oak tree down the block. It loses its leaves late in the fall after everything else is cleaned - then the wind sweeps them around, tucks them under bushes and in the corners. They get mucky and icky - and I don't like to handle them until they dry out a bit - too many slugs hiding in the corners.

Onward - I've been looking at kale recipes and found one that I'm going to try soon - sauteed kale mixed with a drained can of white beans, diced fresh onion, feta cheese and a splash of olive oil for a cold salad. Sounds simple - make ahead. I don't know what's not to like about this one.

Hi all, Today my friends at church took me out to a buffet to celebrate my birthday. I made a wonderful salad and then had shrimp stir fry for my main course. I did real well until dessert--coconut cream pie with ice cream. It was for my birthday after all. I watching Notre Dame in the NCAA Tourney right now.

Hi all, I was just too busy yesterday to turn on the computer. Today was a busy day too but I was able to take a nap so here I am.

We did laundry and then I picked out my other prescription at Walmart and picked up a few groceries. At least I had only leftovers to fix for dinner so I could grab a nap before dinner.

I really enjoy being able to breathe. I had not realized that the reason I had been so tired and unable to do much of anything was because I wasn't breathing as well as I should. I feel so wonderful now.

Now I have to go to bed because we have another party with the seniors of my church. We are going out to eat at a buffet. That is always fun. I'll see you all tomorrow, promise. Goodnight.

Fran, You have things a little wrong. First, the pilot who had trouble with the auto pilot was not the current pilot, just the guy before this one. He reported to the private rental company the problem and assumed it was fixed. The plane bounced on trying to land and just wouldn't stay down. I don't know when the electrical problem was discovered but it was not on or before take off. The company that owned the plane will probably be at least partially at fault but the pilot tried to land a plan that wouldn't stay down. Not his fault. Only the pilot and co-pilot were killed but the two other people on the plane have not told their story yet.

I went through a funky day yesterday ... started to post several times and just sat and stared at a blank screen. My mind must have been blank, too.

Today started with a downpour and now the sun is shining. Guess that must mean spring. The forsythia is blooming, yellow daffodils all around town, camellias blooming - and dandelions in the meadows and lawns. For some reason yellow flowers make me very happy - must be the spring color.

I slept in this morning - briefly checked my mental calendar and decided I didn't need to get up for an appointment. Delightful.

Fran - are you reading any good books? I seem to be soaking them up right now after finding I can read them easily on the Nook. I've started keeping a notebook - think you're the one that suggested that.

Delores, good luck on the meds! What a bothersome thing when you can't get what you need. I'm glad your dr. is looking at alternatives. COPD is worrisome and not being able to breathe is one of the most uncomfortable feelings.

Yesterday during my "funky" stage I washed all the windows. Must have been working out the frustrations - now I can see outdoors again. It will be good to do the outside of the windows but I'll wait for a warmer/dryer day for that.

Aches and pains, fuss and bother! I think we all need a good day reclined on the warm sand with the sun shining - a good umbrella and a good book - waves lapping on the shore and gulls wheeling around overhead. Maybe a handy person around to keep the ice tea glasses full. We could gather driftwood, pebbles and shells, build sand castles.

So onward - to a better day.

Today is a good day to have a good day.

That was one very lucky lady!

I find many things wrong with the description of that accident. If the pilot had a problem on the prior flight, then the problem should have been repaired before he took it up again! It's the law!!! Then the fact that the plan bounced twice on the runway before taking off is seriously suspicious. That plane should never have left the ground. Still pilot error! Taking off when you know the plane has an electrical problem is risking a lot of lives - I hope they prosecute. Pilots like that give us all a bad name.

Time for bed. Night all

Hi all, I had a doctors appointment again today. I guess I will tell you of the frustration me and my doctor have been going through. I have been having a hard time breathing lately and the doc has been trying to find a solution. I don't know if you know what COPD is but it is either chronic asthma or emphysema or both. I have a hard time breathing when I am walking especially when it is too cold or too hot or too windy. The doctor found a medicine that would work perfectly but---Medicare would not pay for it. So at this meeting he found me a combination medication the we hopefully work. He gave me some free samples but we don't know if Medicare will even pay for these. We shall wait and see.

Interesting up date on the plane crash--The first house it hit will be able to be fixed, but probably the other 2 will be knocked when the inspectors are finished checking the scene. In the house that the plane ended up nose down in there were a woman and her son inside. She grabbed her son and her purse and headed out the door as it was settling on top of them. She said that God really must have been watching over them.

Fran, The pilots reported electrical problems and the pilot that flew that same plane a flight before this one said he had problems with the auto pilot. The plane bounced on the runway 2 or 3 times before rising into the sky again before it crashed. This is the most interesting and exciting story in South Bend that didn't deal with Notre Dame athletics so the news people will keep on top of this story until they get an answer to their satisfaction. They do say that it may take 6 to 12 months but I know we will hear all the details that the reporters can find.

I am going to bed now so goodnight.

Dolores, I read about that accident. I'm a pilot, so I get notifications of wrecks all over the Country on the internet. Had no idea you were so close to it. That had to have been frightening! They are saying he had engine trouble? Usually when entering or departing an airport it turns out to be a 'stall' - pilot error. Time will tell. By the time they determine the cause it will be out of the news and we'll never know. Oh well. Glad your and your home weren't affected by it.

Yiddle, I'll certainly second your motion to bottle up the weather for future use. It is really pretty here as well.

Lola, you're absolutely right about self diagnosis. My DH is big on that, and one of these days it will be serious and he'll be too late getting help. I have learned that I can't change him, so I just go with the flow and hope for the best.

Back to work

Hi all, In case any of you are worried about me, the airplane crashed near the airport very west of me. Two people in the plane died, one person on the ground needed an operation but is doing ok. Two other people walked away from the airplane with just minor injuries. Luckily the fire department was in the area and could put out the beginnings of a fire so nothing else was destroyed. Today they found the black box and sent it to Washington to be analyzed. The people around in the neighborhood could return to their homes today and the electricity and gas was turned on except to those three houses in the wreck.

Today I had company most of the day. My friend Bob showed up about noon. He wanted to see a program I had taped so we watched it. I put together another crock pot dinner of chicken and vegetables because I had invited my friend Christine over since she wanted to show me some ideas for celebrating my birthday. I went to my first Bible study of the week at 3 pm and got home at 6 pm. She helped Bob get the groceries he had bought back to him home and then we sat down to dinner. Then she showed me the fliers of the different live theaters in the area and some of them looked interesting. We then discussed going to dinner and a movie together. Of course we couldn't get our schedules to mesh until next monday. So we have a date to go to the movies (if we can find something we like) and dinner next monday after my Bible study. She then took me shopping for the things I forgot last shopping trip. Then we sat around just talking and listening to oldies but goodies. Now I am tired and ready for bed. See you all tomorrow.

Silly me -I tried to find the "LIKE" icon for posts this morning.

All is well in our tiny corner of the world. Did a little yard work yesterday afternoon - GD Anna came over to help me dig some ferns that were growing and growing - much larger than their allotted space. It does look a little bare where they were, though. Today I want to go out and do some more winter clean-up - must be several bags of old leaves and sticks left at the bases of the bushes. I'll end up piling them on the concrete and mulching them down with the lawn mower to make veggie garden mulch.

Next chore will be to go to Comcast and get a new modem for our computers and TV. The new ones have wireless access built in. Eldon dropped the wireless Netgear box and it no longer works - we can hardwire the computers but not access anything wireless right now.

A friend is in the hospital checking for a possible stroke. She called 2 days ago complaining of vertigo .... told her I would drive her to the dr. No -- she didn't want to go. She self-diagnosed via the internet and was convinced it was her ears. She still was dizzy yesterday, still din't want to go to the dr. Last evening she went by ambulance. I guess the reason I mention this is that self-diagnosis via internet is not the answer to many medical issues. Denial is also a part of the story - I don't think this is a serious stroke at this point but her reluctance to have it checked in a proper time is an issue.

Take care of yourselves! You have to be able to care for those who depend on you.
And I'm talking to myself, too. I'm a prime example of denial and self-diagnosis. Sometimes it is wrong.

The hand work on the Mexican Star quilt top is nearly done. I have five more triangles to turn down and stitch in place. That will finish the quilt top. Not sure which fabric I will use for the binding. Yes, I'll have to post some photos soon. I am way behind on the photo business. Grins. emoticon

Hi all, Boy, did we open a can of worms. Why don't we at least agree if we are eating, it should be something good and good for you. Anyway, a meal is a meal is a meal.

We had a wonderful church service this morning. Then I came home to a crockpot full of Corn Beef and Cabbage dinner. I like making a crockpot dinner on Sundays so there isn't much extra fixing to do to get ready to eat after church. After that I took a short nap so I would be able to do what I had planned for this evening. Our church was having a trivia game and we went to it. There were 8 teams with 6 to 8 people at each table. We had a good team with a nice age range going from college students to senior citizens like me. Since we had such a nice spread we won. I now need to go to bed because I am very tired. See you all tomorrow after Bible study.

Hot chocolate and a biscuit or cookie means snack to me. A late breakfast - close to lunchtime - is a brunch. But maybe a brunch is a lunch with breakfast items available.....

Anything is fine if there is coffee in the mornings.

Where I grew up in the North of England dinner was at lunch time. Anything in the evening was tea, not the sandwiches and cake tea but a big cooked meal. if anyone watches Coronation Street it's still said ' come for your tea' and its a cooked meal. Supper to me was maybe hot chocolate drink and a biscuit/cookie before bed. Sorry to add to the confusion !
It is food that's all we need to know. Breakfast is alway breakfast of course , just had mine !

Lola, half of this Country calls the evening meal supper, and the other half calls it dinner (I'm in the dinner crowd, my DH calls it supper). My answer has always been that it doesn't matter what it is, eggs, pancakes, or a pot roast, just don't forget to call me.
It's getting really late. Night all

Hi all, We walked to the St. Patrick's day Parade and arrived just in time. It started maybe 5 minutes after we arrived. It was wonderful and had all the basic elements. It had the usual bagpipes, Irish dancers, even an antique fire truck. We also had an antique John Deer Tractor but it was painted pink because it supports breast cancer awareness but it was decorated with shamrocks of course. There were 2 high school bands and lots of floats decorated with green but the best part of it was the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile. It was very cold and windy so by the time the parade was over we weren't going to stay for the greening of the river. We went on to the library and got some hot cocoa and coffee to warm up. I returned 3 books and got 2 more and then we returned home. Great day.

Lola, We have that communication problem here. My BIL called it breakfast, dinner and supper but I grew up calling the evening meal dinner. We have reached a compromise--I say "what do you want for dinner" and he answers " you mean supper?" He knows what I mean by lunch and I know what he means by supper. We don't sweat the details.
Pancakes for supper or whatever sounds great for me. Try putting peanut butter on them--a trick I learned from my Grandson.

I worked out in the yard for almost 3 hours yesterday. I need to be more careful about routinely putting on sunscreen. It was cloudy and I didn't get a sunburn, but.... Eldon worked out part of the time and it was a rather nice day. The peas are up almost 2 inches. Anticipation! Spinach seeds are starting to sprout but there is no sign of the mixed green lettuces yet.

I need to be more careful about planning meals. It's much easier to snack when I've been careless with the menus. I ended up making pancakes for supper last evening. Guess you can't call it a dinner when it's really a breakfast.

What do you call it?
breakfast - morning
lunch - noon
dinner - evening
when is it supper? I grew up eating supper in the evenings and dinner was the big Sunday meal when the extended family gathered together.

Hi all, I went grocery shopping this morning before the rain began to fall. I had my rolling cart and 3 carry bags between Leon and and I. I sure doesn't take too much room to carry home $100 worth of groceries. I am now watching the Notre Dame men's basketball team lose to Louisville. I watched part of my first Cubs baseball game this afternoon. When the score was 14 to 1 against them I gave up.

Lola, I checked and my library has lots of Susan Kearsley's books. I have reserved Winter Sea for when I am finished with what I have now. I am always on the look out for interesting historical novels, among other things. Thanks for the suggestion.

Today is a free day - no appointments or scheduled adventures for the day. I'm not sure what will be happening but it will be my choice how I spend the rest of the day.

The loaf of gluten-free bread I made yesterday was good. I could hardly restrain myself from making toast this morning but settled for oatmeal again. I used a mix of garbanzo and brown rice flour. I'm going to slice it all and put it in containers in the freezer. It does go dry quickly.

PT has done wonders for my back - and I haven't had a headache in several weeks. All I can say is POSTURE makes such a difference. Keep the head high and those shoulders back and do not sag and stoop. It seems to do wonders for my temperament also, guess it's the looking up and not looking down that is good.

I just finished a good book, The Winter Sea, by Susanna Kearsley. Historical fiction of Scotland and England. It was interesting and had an intriguing interaction between the author and the actual history. I'm going to look for more books by her.

Smile - think I'll go outdoors and rake old leaves out from under the bushes. We need a little drizzle to water in the seeds I planted last week -- or will have to go hook up the hose system for a little manual moisture. The weatherman keeps saying we're going to get overnight drizzles..........

Hi all, You know how you are supposed to chain your errands together to save fuel? Well, it is particularly important if you are on foot. I planned to go to the bank, mail something, puck up a few groceries in one trip. I went to the bank by bus and realized I had forgotten the package I wanted to mail. So I went back home and grabbed the package. I went to the post office and realized I didn't have my sister's address. I either had to go home or to the library in hopes of finding it there. The library was closer so we went there and found that you can find addresses on the internet, duh. We went back to the post office and mailed the package and then we went to a little shop and picked up some eggs and bread. Finally we headed home completely wiped out. At least the weather was beautiful, sunny and warmer.

We at least got a lot of exercise and enjoyed it.
See you all tomorrow.

I had a marvelous three days with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. Great quilting class. We were the only two students, so got tons of attention. Most quilt shops in our metro area would cancel for such small numbers. Class was 6 hours but neither of us finished our quilt top. We did do one of each of the different blocks and walked through the sashing details. Great teacher.

Tuesday I walked in the evening with my son. He took me on the roads he runs 7 miles on three times a week. We didn't do 7 miles, bc we only walked each part of his path once. This morning my DIL and I drove to the Canyon Lake Dam and walked the whole dam rim. It is point eight (.8) miles from gate to gate and then we had to walk back, so a nice 1.6 miles.

Have a great weekend.

Would really love to come visit, if I could just find the time. I am so busy with the job, and the Board of Directors (I'm the Treasurer for a senior community of 297 homes).
Maybe when I retire (probably next January) I'll be able to hop a plane and come visit.

Went to the BOD meeting this AM and solved all the problems of the world. LOL
Been working on taxes all afternoon. Think I'll go to bed and dream about doing nothing - at least for a few hours.

Fran - don't wait until the weather is better. It's either too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too windy, too gloomy. Just come anyway.

I'm going to optimistically put my ticker down 2# -- and hope it stays there. I was surprised when I weighed less at the drs. on Monday - and it has stayed down since then. I'm off in a few minutes for another round of appointments - drop DH at the dentist, go to my PT appointment, go back and pick him up and then a trip to his ortho dr. for his knee. Aches and pains --- a side benefit of retirement.

Needy Niece Molly came yesterday and vacuumed the floors and cleaned the kitchen in exchange for groceries I bought for her when we were at Costco. The house looks good again! Time for you all to drop by for that cup of tea or other beverage of choice.

Hello on Wednesday , I am getting back on track after a bad month. It was a stressful month with medical and family events , but I have to learn not to turn to food or wine for comfort.
It's a quiet week generally now so I using this time to sort myself out.
I am spending time sorting things out, literally we waste so much time looking for things . So am trying to file paperwork away , sort clothes storage out so I can find the ones I need now for cold frosty weather.
I am back on daily exercises and planning meals ahead. I hope now to keep in touch more with my friends and teams on here, they are also supportive. Have a good day. Ree emoticon

Hi all, My silly computer is acting up again but as old as it is I don't fret it too much. I spent most of my evening watching Notre Dame Women beat Connecticut in the Big East finals. Then I called my friends who don't have ESPN and let them know.

Today we did laundry and I had to make an extra trip down the hall since I put the money into the machine but didn't push in the control to turn the machine on. And then Leon had washed 4 blue jeans in one load or the dryer didn't work too well, but we had to run them in another dryer. That was an extra trip to the apartment and back for the extra money. So I had had enough of the hall but Leon wanted to walk. It was snowing today so we walked around and around in the hall again.

I am tired now so I am going to bed. Goodnight.

Good morning -- Tuesday is here - ready or not. Days pass so quickly that I can't keep up with them.

I was reading some diet information yesterday and struck again at the size of the recommended proportions. It is so easy to over-estimate the size of the servings that are going on my plate! And so easy to underestimate the amount of veggies and fruit that I am eating. Or forget to count that quick snatch of a handful of nuts. The hours outdoors have made a difference - maybe it's because I have dirt on my hands and don't snack.........

I made a very nice green 'smoothie' yesterday with some fresh kale, pineapple, apple and pear cider. We were both surprised now much we enjoyed it - bright green and a bit sweet. Kale is a good alternative to broccoli (which I admit to being tired of cooking and eating). I like kale chopped and cooked into potato soup also.

Eldon is doing well walking with his hiking poles instead of crutches. They allow him to not rely on his arms when walking but to put all his weight on his legs and make them work harder. It's a balancing act in the long run.

My aches and pains are greatly reduced by the physical therapy I've been doing. The winter days indoors have taken their toll and I'm paying for it now.

I have a long LONG list of groceries to buy. I didn't get them yesterday and the larder is a bit empty when it's time to make a meal. At least I'm cleaning out the freezer and the pantry. That's a good thing.......

Hi all, I got home from my Bible study tonight and my Notre Dame women were playing in the semifinal Big East basketball game. I had brought home Taco Bell so I wouldn't have to cook. So we watched the women win their game handily. U. Connecticut is playing in the 2nd game and by half time they were winning. I am assuming that will be the team that ND will play tomorrow for the final.

Jean, I would love to see the Mexican Star Quilt when you finish it. I live just outside the Indiana Amish country and when I get the chance I check out the quilts at Shippewanna, the shopping area for the Amish crafts. I love to look at all the quilt patterns. Good luck on the quilt.

I will see you all tomorrow. Goodnight.

Silly clocks. Yes, we changed our clock manually, and know it will change itself again soon. Yes, our clock is several years old. I don't remember when we bought it.

I have done all my pre-cutting for the Mexican Star quilt class. So I am prepped and ready to go. It should be another fun experience. My DIL, Delores, is taking the class also. We do have a good time together.

Take care and stay busy.

Hi all, I set all my clocks to the proper time. I didn't set my cable box and cell phone because they automatically change.

Jean and Fran, Those clocks that didn't set now but will do it later may be old clocks. They are pre-programmed to reset themselves at the previously scheduled time. I had a clock radio like that but I just gave it to Leon. He can't tell time but he can play the radio. That works for me.

I have my Bible study tomorrow so I won't be on here until tomorrow evening so I will say goodnight for now.

Jean, I had to chuckle at your comment on your bedroom clock not changing. My DH thinks I'm crazy when I say that my bedroom clock changes on Bush time - but it does. It didn't change this morning, it will change when the original time change was supposed to be - before George Bush decided to change it. How does it know? I will change it tonight, and in a week or two it will change again - then I'll have to back it up. Odd!!!

Daylight saving time caught us this morning. We re-set all of our old fashioned clocks, but not the atomic clock in the bedroom which is supposed to reset itself. it didn't, so we missed our traditional early church service, and attended the later one.

It's drippy here today. Rain is always welcome after our severe draught.
