Oh dear I bet I will have gained this weekend. Worked from Friday until I finish today in Bradford-on-Avon and our lovely client makes excellent food - 3 times a day and all the time just sitting at a computer!

Never mind - back home from tomorrow so work as normal and exercise will restart. I did go out for a walk along the canal yesterday but it rained and I got very wet. Now I have the first signs of a cold!

Talk to you all again next week.

Better early than late? Tomorrow is still June. Oh well - we'll all figure it out.

i think it was Irene that asked who has an iPad - I have an iPad, what do you want to know? I also have a iPhone and a MacBook Pro - I am all about Apple. Don't use the iPad much, but if I can help I surely will.

Our weather in the middle of the Country has been remarkable. Can't remember when it was so erratic. Well, you can all come visit Ann and I - our weather is perfect.

Night all

Hi all, Apparently we had the same problems that Barb had yesterday. We had 2 different waves of storms go through. The news people told us we didn't have tornadoes since those twist things around. We had 75 mile an hour wind sheers go through and it knocked out a lot of trees and electric lines. There are still about 26 thousand people without lights (and air conditioning) until some time tomorrow.

Barb, Apparently you didn't lose your electricity since you were able to get on line. I was out in those storms yesterday too. It was very scary. I hope you got everything cleaned up as best as possible.

Today I had planned to to spend a lot of time on my computer today. My friend Bob was going to pick up Leon and they were going to spend the day together. We waited all morning for him but he never turned up. So we went down to the library since I had planned to do some genealogy work. I did some and then I decided to go down to the baseball stadium for the game tonight. We went to the game, had hamburgers for dinner, and watched fireworks after the game. We made a day of it without Bob. So now I'm tired and an heading to bed. I will spend my time on the computer tomorrow. See you then. Good night.

Good evening everybody,
We had really bad weather yesterday. Friday was our sewing club and boy! we weren't expecting anything like this. We decided to go out for lunch and went to Lowell's to pick up a couple of things that my DH's cousin needed and then went home to start sewing and we weren't in the house 5 minutes, then things started to pop, we had 90 mile hour winds they said that was tornado winds and the sky was black and we had tree limbs that snapped off my DH'S cousin trees, there were live wires that hit the ground it started to spark and then a tree limb fell behind our friend's truck with wire that was still alive and we watched it to make sure nothing was going to happened, we couldn't get out of the drive way. We unplugged everything in the house because we could smell something that was hot, but we checked out the walls, but they were not hot. We scattered through the house to make sure everything was okay and went down the basement, then my DH called on his cousin's phone and our friend answered it and she talked to him and he was telling her that one of our ever great northern green pine trees, which are fifty five feet tall broke off about 20 feet at the top, plus 30 limbs out of the walnut tree, majority of them 15 feet long. The tree across our street snapped right in half, we have limbs in our front yard and the neighbors. down two houses from us has limbs down also. We didn't want our cousin staying by herself so she went to our friends house. Our son's friend came and picked us up and on the way home there were great big tree limbs and one was on top of this couple's house and it's a wonder it didn't cave in their roof the way it was laying on the roof. I could go on and on, but to many details. I talked to my DMIL and she was telling me that my DH'S sister and her friends were coming to Fort Wayne, but decided not to and told her it was a good thing they didn't come or they were have been right in the middle of it. There were 65,000 people that were without lights, not to be restored until Wednesday. Ours came on at seven minutes til four this morning. I was a happy camper, I didn't like being in he dark.

Well it's getting late and I'm going to scoot out of here. I didn't get very much sleep last night with everything that went on, which I forgot tell you it was raining, I really didn't care, but it was thundering and lightening during the night and that kept me awake, then when I was getting ready to go back to sleep our neighbor's hound dog hollered a couple times. Sheesh!

Great big hugs,
Barb1

P. S. The sandman is on his way.

Donna, we see an occasional gator but it's been a long time since we've been to the south end of the lagoon where they are very numerous. Crocodiles are found a couple of hundred miles south of us but they aren't as numerous as the gators.

The critters here in Florida are not a big problem and I really enjoy seeing the diversity that we have here.

Saturday afternoon .... and it's a little cloudy and a few sprinkles out there. I was planning to go out and do some neglected yard work - but think I'll wait until it's dried out a bit. The front yard looks like a teen boy that needs a haircut.

Yesterday was a lost day -- an early appointment for Eldon and I wasn't ready to wake up and get moving. Bleahh - early mornings are not my time of the day. When we got home I did some necessary house things then started to read. and read. and read. It was a 'reading' day and it was totally delightful to just let all the cares of the outside world go past. Eldon has now improved to the point he can drive the car again - locally - so I didn't have to go with him to his afternoon appointment. The dr. said to use "common sense" to determine when you can drive. My common sense and Eldon's don't always match, though. It's hard for him to not be independent. So I stayed home and took a nap - it was hard with the crows cawing because they can't get to the blueberries through the bird nets.

We've been watching the Olympic trials - and staying up much too late in the evenings. All the events are interesting and exciting in their own way. We watched swimming and gymnastics last evening and Eldon has the soccer program on now. There will be more track and field events tonight.

Laugh - had a bowl of blueberries to take to the neighbor who mowed our lawn this morning. And she gave me a bowl of raspberry jam she had just made. Now I still owe......

Need to go watch videos, read blogs, catch up on mail and then play a scrabble game. I'm happy.
emoticon - blueberries. there are more to pick. Time to start putting them in the freezer for next winter.

Lola - in Oregon

Today is a good day to have a good day.

Donna, Manatees are a protected species and here in Florida it's illegal to feed or touch them. They're several hundred pounds and not the most agile of our sea creatures. They're Vegetarians and they manicure the sea grass in the Lagoon. emoticon When we're drift fishing they will sometimes get under my boat and scratch their backs on the bottom. My boat weighs over 1200 lbs. and we have to sit down because of all the rocking from the Manatee.

Hi gang,
I took my son and girlfriend out to dinner for a fish fry. A favorite food here. Then we went to the cemetery to visit his father's gravesite and then he wanted to get some videos. Oh I also bought a new rosebush and another hanging plant for my porch to replace the one that died on me. I never seem to have much luck with hanging plants.

"Hi" to the rest of the Team. Today delivered an order of 45 books to my distributor and sent out 2 books to 2 little girls that ordered them in the mail.

It was very HOT here today...89 deg.It looks like an 80s week temperature wise. Phooey, too hot for me.

Hi all, Today was payday since the 1st is on Sunday. It is also the Friday that that the oldies band was playing at the fountain. I talked my friend Bob into going to the fountain to listen to them. We first got some money out of the bank so we could buy personal pan pizzas for lunch while we listened. So after the music we ran some errands around town. I picked up some milk and eggs at Kroger and he was looking for a ribbon for his typewriter. I think we all know he was unsuccessful. And we did all this shopping in a driving rain. The storms were so strong that it knocked out some trees and some electricity throughout the area. But even with that we only got half an inch of rain out of the whole deal. I was so tired when I got home I slept through the Cubs game. I woke up in time to see them win another. Too bad they are few and far between. Oh well, wait til next year.

I will go to sleep now but I will be on the computer early tomorrow. See you then.

I

I awakened Ethan at 4 AM and he got right up. 45 minutes later we were picking up my fishing buddy, Dumont, and we headed for the Lagoon. Ethan stayed awake most of the drive but finally fell asleep against his pillow 20 minutes before we got to the ramp. We woke him up when we got to the ramp and we made the fast run north to the same are we fished last week. Ethan quickly tired of not catching fish. Tropical Storm Debby had really churned up the water in the lagoon and hits were few and far between. We were on the water an hour before sunrise but got off at about 9:30. The highlight of the trip for him was when we were drifting in about 2.5 feet of water and a Manatee came up right in front of him and then hung around for a few minutes. I always resist the urge to reach out and scratch their back but that's the main reason they hang around boats. Too many people feed and scratch them so they have no fear of boats. Manatees are so ugly they're cool looking. I came home, cleaned up the boat and gear, ate lunch, and took a nap. I was really tired after 3+ hours of casting and working topwater lures. After my nap I did my Friday strength workout. We went out for Mexican tonight and I ate more than I should but still didn't exceed any of my nutrition limits.

I will sleep well tonight. emoticon

Hi all, You all have been busy today. I have been hiding out indoors since I have no plans to fry in 100 degree temperatures. We hit just 100 so Barb your being further south made it even worse for you. I stayed indoors and did some housework. I walked for half an hour around and around the hallway here and we did brave the heat and sat outside in the shade. I could only stand half an hour there either. That way were get our vitamin D without any work. We did have a slight thunderstorm scare for a little while but it passed to the south of us and was very scattered. The major problem was the news interruptions more than the rain. We saw no rain and they are talking about cancelling the fireworks around here. We have had just too many fires around here. We don't need the wildfires like they are having further west.

Barb1: I am on Bystolic after my Doctor got me off Atenolol, I am now on Bystolic and Simvastatin and it works fine. Might also be the reason I finally lost the excess weight. At least something to look forward to for you. Have fun at the sewing club and hope it cools down a little for you emoticon

Been neglecting my friends due to all the Travels so I am making a few luncheon dates with them. One is fighting Pancreatic cancer and is feeling up for some time out, need to take advantage of it.
Our weather is unseasonable cool, only in the low to mid 80's and the nights cool down nicely. Workers are supposed to come next week sometime???? lets see if it happens. Also still need to get some clothes to the Salvation Army and hopefully get some closed space for our company.

Trying to read all your posts but just not enough time to respond to each of you.
Thinking of you and sending many emoticon

Hi Marie, I find it very discouraging when a med keeps me from losing the weight, but I will not give up. I am just going to keep right on trucking a long. I do try to do some dancing and I know when to stop, my legs let me know when I had enough. I made an appointment with my doctor today and I went for two reasons and that is asking him to see if he will change my BP med, which he did, he gave me Benicar 40 mg and Bystolic 5 mg and of course I stop the Azor and the second reason is I have a mole that I have to get removed because it's infected and he said I would just keep having problems.
It has been real hot today, when I got out of the doctor's office Boy! the heat really hit me. The temp was 106 degrees and I just checked our weather forecast and it is now 98 degrees at 9:30 p.m. and it's going to 78 degrees tonight. Barb1

Angela, I'm so sorry to hear about Smokey Joe. We had two animals that passed away had cancer, Katie our dog and Shadow our cat. Katie passed away in July and Shadow 3 months later. They both will be gone 2 years this year. My heart goes out to all of you. Barb1

I won't be on here tomorrow because it's my sewing club, but I will try to get back here tomorrow night if I can.

The sandman will see you all later to sprinkle his magic dust on all of you.

Good night all.

Great big hugs all around,

Hello Everyone! I haven't abandoned ship.
The last two days I have been watching for news as to how the Obamacare situation played out and I did come in and read comments but could not concentrate. Now I just want to forget about it for awhile.

Close family illness has been another distraction.....my nieces father-in-law, who has been a part of many family occasions, is going down very fast so there have been phone calls to take care of.

I have been out in the very early morning walking. It's impossible for me to consider working outside in the extreme heat we have been having, but there is always my band, my ball and my dancing to keep me moving, not to mention the normal housekeeping:o)

Donna2, I will try to keep up better. Time flies for me here lately and seems every time I sit down, the phone rings, someone knocks on the door or I think of something that needs to be done.....now! :o)

Dottee, I think if one of my son's walked in the door with a bouquet of roses, I would need them on my casket.....stroke! They're more apt to bring me a plant that I have to dig a hole to plant it:o) All joking aside, how wonderful that you had family visiting from out of state. I get all excite if mine drive 30 miles to see me!!!

LittleLouie.....what do you prefer that we call you? My real name is Marie. It will indeed be awhile before you can sort us all out but we like to talk a lot so soon you will also know what our grandchildrens names are so just jump in like you would in any other group and of course we will cheer you on and encourage you in your efforts to get your health on course.

Delores, our rain was hit and miss as well. I think they predicted scattered showers for 4 days and I don't think we got a whole inch of rain.......and then that tropical storm in Florida just seemed to pump up the heat.......108 on Monday, so it's been pretty miserable here, especially if one has a reason to go outdoors! We had 4 fatal accidents due to speed and slick roads during those showers, and a couple of house fires as well. Stupid? One of the house fires was a man that fell asleep in bed with a cigarette while he was taking oxygen........his mother dragged him out of the house before it burned totally down. People!
I only wish our temperatures were as nice as yours, so I could walk outdoors more. And my yard has turned to straw and yellow plants.

Lola and Jean had a very nice visit in Oregon. Jean, I hope your trip was flawless and Lola, isn't Jean a perfectly delightful person? I was so lucky to meet her a couple of years ago and she's tops.

Lynn, How convenient that you can adjust the heat in each room. I need a new thermostat but the A/C still works. (Knock on wood)!!! And I think after this year, I may just build some raised flower beds so I don't have such a vast area to water and still have flowers.
That's quiet a weatherizing you are having done! It surely will save on your power and fuel bills!!

Barb, it really is difficult and disappointing when your weight acts like a yo-yo if you take a medication that might be the cause. As long as you are keeping track of your portions, getting exercise when you can and keeping after it...you are doing good! Giving up would be more disappointing!!!

Donna1, have you heard anything more about a closing date on your house......I know you're packing...I can hear you panting:o) I hope we can get together one of these days.......you on your bike and me walking......betcha I can beat you. It has to be cool outside but when I go for a real power walk, I don't slow down unless a truck is coming:o)

Welcome home Jean.....thanks for both of you taking pictures....what lovely smiles!!

Lew, I have to beg your pardon.....here in central Texas, with the heat and humidity we have now....I sweat!! and BIG time. I did one little chore from one house to the other the other day and I know it didn't take 10 minutes....my hair was just short of dripping:o) I know it's unlady like but y'all just have to excuse me:o)
Good luck on your fishing trip tomorrow. I'm sure Ethan will have a wonderful time with you two experienced teachers.......Does he get to clean his own fish?

If anyone is prone to leg cramps.......I read an article in a homeopathic magazine awhile back and didn't believe it but proved it to be right. I had been having leg cramps after extra long walks and the article said to unwrap 2 or 3 bars of plain original IVORY soap and put them under the sheets at the foot of your bed. Worked for me!!! Sure wish it would do something for my neck. Maybe I should put my head at the foot of the bed!

Donna2, they would probably have a lot more good carpenters if they would let some of our youth try their hand at handy jobs instead of convincing those with lower grades that they have to all go to college. Too many video games in this world and kids don't have time to experiment with their natural interests and abilities.

Ree, I'm not brave enough to try an I Pad yet! I'm still wandering around on my PC while all my grandkids are doing the internet on their phones!

Angela, so very sorry you had to say goodby to your Smokey Joe. That's always a sad time. Do you have other 4 legged family members? After my Schnozie passed away, I decided not to get another indoor pet....just my mousers outside. One of them has tried to follow me inside (I think he must belong to a neighbor) but my next pet will have to be able to bark.

Now I have a little chore to do over at mama's old house and I'm gearing myself up to face the heat, so I'd best get it over with. Hope all of you are having a great day!

I've been a tad busy today. My buddy and I are going fishing tomorrow now that the winds have eased up. We're taking my 10 yr. old grandson Ethan with us and I really hope we get on a bunch of Trout. I almost have our gear rigged and ready but I still have to change out an accessory on the boat. I took Ethan to a local pond to teach him how to use the lure he'll be using and he picked it up quickly. I'll see how he does when I wake him up at 4 AM. He's usually good about it because he's so excited about going fishing. He has been on his best behavior since I told him he's going with me and Dumont. When I grow up I want to be just like Dumont but for now I'm just like Ethan. emoticon

The poem is lovely. It is easy to read on your photo album page. Thank you for sharing it.

Dottee
I am not sure we even fall to 84 overnight. It is hot, hot, hot here in Texas. After the delicious chill of the Northwest, it has hit me even harder. I did get my miles in yesterday, but inside the mall instead of outdoors. I was able to walk outside in Portland and truly loved my walk.

Thanks for looking at our photos of our Portland lunch experience. Such wonderful friendships are created on Spark People sites. I am grateful for the chance to meet Lola and Eldon in person. Wonderful, warm, caring folks.

Good Morning Team,
We should get to 84 deg. here today. It is warming up here. We are going to the Farmer's Market in Clinton today and then out to lunch. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping! Tweet tweet!

Irene, nope I just have a plain OLD cell phone and no texting. I only use it for emergencies. I don't want people bothering my texting me all day.

Angela it is so sad when you lose a pet. We had our cat Spooky for 17 years when her health failed and she was gone.

Hi Donna2 so happy to see you here again. How are you doing? Hope everything is well with you.

Have a great day everyone!

Dear Angela,

So sorry to read about Smokey Joe. Yes, you did take the right action. It is so hard to have a pet leave us as they are part of the family.

DD took poor Smokey Joe to the vets last night and he is no longer with us. It was the right thing to do as the cancer had gotten so that he could no longer eat and he was miserable. You were all right, she was very brave and called me after they had buried him in the garden.

Its very sad, he was only a young cat, about 5 years old. He was a tiny little kitten almost dead when my dad rescued from under a bush one freezing winter's morning. He nursed him back to a big healthy 11lb cat and Helen took him in after dad passed away last year.

He was an extremely affectionate cat who liked to sit with you wherever you went and he will be missed by us all.

Today a friend posted a link to a lovely poem from a cat rescue charity. Anyone who loves animals should try and read this without a tear in your eye!

Its a Facebook picture and I'm not sure if the link will work. If not I'll copy the photo into my Spark Photos. No well that failed so I've copied it into my photos and added it as my profile picture for today.

You'll need a magnifying glass but I'll copy out the words if anyone wants them!

Good Morning Team,
It took me a half an hour to get on the internet and then my son tells me there was a plug unplugged upstairs. He plugged it in and here I am.

Donna2 so good to see you again.Did you get all your chores done? Coffee and paper sounds better.

Lew sounds like you had fun with the Wii Fit. We sweat too. LOL Glad you were not hurting from it today.

Lynn you sure are having a lot done on your place. It should be in great shape when they are done. Thanks for breakfast.

Good morning,

We all have to be quiet as Lew's family is sleeping. emoticon

Dottee glad you have family around. So nice to be able to get together for meals. Best part of a visit. Time around the table.

Lynn, thanks so much for the explanation of all the work they are doing on your home. Sounds like they are very good workers and well supervised. That is a dying bred for around here.

Thank you for breakfast. So many choices, so hard to chose.

Jean you are home safe and sound. How did you son make out with the insurance company? They are tricky to deal with.

Well I am off to do the things I should have done yesterday. Right after I have my coffee and read my paper.

It's 9:40 AM and everyone is sleeping in so I've had the morning all to myself. We're getting occasional showers as Debby heads for the Atlantic. We didn't get as much rain as I hoped for but I feel bad for those folks further north. They got hammered.

Several years ago we got a WII Fit for our daughter and grandson to use and I played on it with them. Like all toys the novelty faded and it has only gotten very occasional use. Since varying our workouts is a good thing I decided to use it for cardio yesterday. The best cardio for me is the step aerobics so I replaced the dead batteries and got to it. By the time I finished I had done over an hour and I was sweating pretty good. I know you ladies "perspire" but I sweat. emoticon Two hours after I finished I thought I had overdone it because my calves were tightening up. I spent the rest of the day doing periodic calf stretches and awakened this morning feeling good. It worked.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning all its going to be hot and sunny here today so I have been told hope so sick of rain .
All my electric work is done I have a wireless switch down it the hall to alter the boiler plus one in the kitchen to do both the boiler and hot water from these I can put the heating on up down or off as well clever things these new boilers

today its the turn of the builders to see and fix any building work in the boiler cupboard then its wait until they start on the out side

Donna they are doing the whole of our houses owned by the housing association I live in
its a plan to help keep the houses dry and warm in the winter keeping the heating bills down and it works the other way in summer to keep it cooler first they put big foam bricks
all over the house then a skin goes over them ,after this they put a mesh layer to anchor.
it on plaster is the next layer and then they pebble dash it they have to move all drain pipes
down spouts and sky dishes and they remove my alarm. as well so the last job will be the new drain pipes etc put back on .The firm have said they will be here for about 3 weeks in all working on a block of four . Their liaison officer calls twice a day to see if you have any problems in fact he has been here at 8.20am to check on yesterdays work.Dave called in yesterday and couldn't get over the way the work was done speedy and clean they even removed all the rubbish after themselves
I got to the swimming baths twice a week and just walk up and down great way to exercise
my leg and helps me to lose weight .

Jean glad you arrived home safe and sound

Dottie its lovely to have the family around you but its nice when they go home again LOLO

Interesting Donna. Never heard of a park that size without a pool. Are you sure? LOL I'm sure you are - but that is odd! Just curious, are you buying the lot, or just the home? Sometimes when you are buying the lot they don't build in the amenities to keep down the maintenance and thus the dues required. Oh well, any way you have to do it - use the water for your exercises, you will be so happy you did.

It was another whirlwind day here today. My Virginia family left for home but my boy from Florida and one other daughter and her sons are still here. So I made spaghetti for supper and everyone ate at my house and tomorrow my other DD is making stuffed cabbage and we will all go over to her house (about 10 minutes away) for supper.

I am having a wonderful time with so much of my family so close. It is warming up here too and will be in the 80s for the weekend.

Hi all, It looks like everyone is either moving, on vacation or just plain busy. We did laundry today and really didn't get too much accomplished. We didn't even go walking. Tomorrow I have to pick up some more of my pills. I always wondered why the pharmacy can not give you 31 pills when there is 31 days in the month. As a result I have to pick these up twice this month and last month. I hate that since these are the most expensive ones. I'll see what's happening tomorrow when I can. Goodnight.

Donna, there is light at the end of the pain 'tunnel'. Where you are moving they will have at least one pool, which will be heated (at least in the summer). Exercising in a pool is much less painful. Hope you take advantage of it.

I'm not staying long I just I wanted pop in for a minute.

Marie, Thanks for the congrats on me losing the 2 pounds you always make my day when ever I lose weight.. The doctor that put me on this azor for my BP is the problem that keeps me from losing like I want to, but when I do lose it and some times I can lose 5 lbs, then 2 pounds and then I gain 1 lb, then I get on my scales again gain 2lbs back and then I get on the scales again and gain it all back and now I lost the 2 lbs, so right now I don't know rather I'm coming or going with this weight of mine. I thought about making an appointment with the doctor to see what can be done about this problem.
We have another beautiful day, which I'm not complaining about, but we do need the rain desperately, our grass started to get green after the down pour we had last Thursday and now it looks terrible again.

Well I'm going to scoot out of here and think about what I want for lunch.

You all take care.
Hugs,
Barb1

Morning all well the new boiler is in and today its the turn of the electrician. The two gas men here yesterday were great no mess they hoovered up be for they left just got on with the work helped me move the furniture so they could change the radiators .The boiler has its own computer so I can turn on the heat in each room as I need it .
Then in a few week (months) we are having the outside warm clad so its cool in summer but warm in winter They put a foam brick on to the outside walls then a damp skin then they mesh
the whole wall and bolt it to the wall then its skimmed and pebble dashed so they have to replace all drain pipes remove and refit sky dishes move all alarm's boxes and flower baskets etc takes about 3 weeks for the outside to be done ;should be fun .

Breakfast girls before they arrive :

Had a wonderfully fun and delightfully cheerful lunch today with Jean and Joe - and Eldon and moi. Pictures are still in my camera, camera still in my purse, and I'm feeling road weary and won't get to it until tomorrow. Jean and Joe found a park side cafe and we chatted over our sandwiches and bowls of soup. I so wished the weather had been warmer - it was just a bit 'chilly' sitting outside after deciding that it was time to vacate the cafe table. Certainly not the 100+ weather in Texas!! It might have been 60-65 ... the jackets were zipped to the chin! Delightful day. Jean made a most curiously twisted scarf - so soft and warm around my neck. I still have no idea how it was made even after she carefully showed me what she had done. Huh?

I got a good look at a Fitbit .... so small and easy to use. It certainly is an amazing little gadget. Now I know what to put on my wish list.

We left Jean and Joe and drove to Eldon's cousins who live near Portland, spent several hours sitting and chatting and sipping coffee - then another spell sitting while driving home.

so back to the normal things. I think tomorrow is Tuesday.

Lola - in Oregon

Today is a good day to have a good day.

Marie, Good rain? We did get some "showers" that were hit and miss thursday. The rain gage said we got .10 inch at the airport. We may have gotten a little more but we are still under a bun warning. We may not have fireworks on the 4th since it is so tinder dry around here. Three people have lost their homes or parts of their homes because of stupidity. One person was burning trash and thought the fire was out. NOT! It blew over and burned their home to the ground. The firemen had to return 3 times because it kept flaming up again. One person parked a very hot motorcycle in their garage and it caught the place on fire because of the hot fumes. Last night we heard of another home totaled from a fire that they don't know the origin yet. WE NEED RAIN!

I got that far reading the posts and had to answer it. Read Barb's post since she is only a little bit down the road from me. About 3/4th the state of Indiana is under a no burn warning. In fact the whole midwest is dry as a bone. We have been having high winds too. Expect to see the next fire storms around here if we don't see any rain.

One good advantage to no rain is it is beautiful walking weather. Leon and I have been going to the plaza to listen to the music and then talking a walk either by the river or up to the duck pond. Saturday we went shopping and then I had to make some potato salad for our pot luck at church on Sunday. So after church our Sunday school class had the pot luck after services. I have never seen it where there were just enough salads and no duplicates. We had 2 different pies, and some cookies so even the desserts didn't duplicate. After eating we played Skippo and after a couple of games we came back home. After all the activity this weekend I fell asleep in the couch and barely woke enough to fix a light dinner. I tried watching the Cubs play (they've lost 5 games in a row) but fell asleep and didn't see the end of the game. So I just went to bed and got a good night's sleep for a change.

Today we walked to the library after the music in the plaza. I returned 2 and picked up to new books. Then we walked up to the duck pond and home. I watched the Cubs tonight and they did a better job on the Mets. They got 2 runs and then the Mets fell apart. The Cubs had 4 runs on only 1 hit because of 3 errors on the Mets part. They couldn't catch the ball so their poor pitcher had to be replaced. It wasn't his fault but boy did we enjoy all those goofy plays. In the 9th inning the Mets finally got a home run so they weren't totally blown out.

Lew, I am watching the news now and I how the Hurricane is not too rough in your area. From what you are saying, it is just bringing some much needed rain your way. I almost wish you could send it my way too. But with our luck it would knock everything down.

Hello all,
I bet you were wondering where I was today.

OMGosh another BIG surprise today...my son and girlfriend flew in from Florida and we had another get together with the whole family again.

And he brought me a dozen long stemmed red roses. I've been teasing him about getting me those for about 5 years now and TODAY there they were! What a sweetheart!

Goodevening,

Just watched the news and there is terrible storms in Florida. Hope, Lew, it is not coming to close to you. Tell Debbie to stay away.

Donna uno have you got your head and hands in packing boxes yet? Two moves in one year. You are one brave lady. When we moved I told my kids they are going to carry me out of here, flat in a box. Hope I never have to do it again.

Lynn, thanks for the breakfast. You sure put out a nice spread. I think I missed something. What renovations are you doing?

Marie, so happy to have the update. Keeps me in the know. Seems several of the sparklers are doing very well with their exercise and weight loss. Great news to hear.

Have a great evening.

Tropical Storm Debby has been pumping in rain off and on for about 30 hours now. Most of it hasn't been heavy so it's soaking in and our aquifer needs all this storm can produce. I can hear my trees sighing uhhh uhhh as the rain keeps washing over their leaves.

I ran a few errands between squalls as best I could but managed to get in my strength workout and decided to hit the treadmill as well. It's a good way to start this week's SP program. It's getting close to time to fix dinner.

Hello Everyone!
What a great weekend I've had. The only thing better than getting together with family is having a get together of old friends and catching up with all the latest news. Both Saturady and Sunday, we had that opportunity and it was just simply fun to get to visit with so many of our crowd again.

Ann, hopefully you get all your home repairs done before your German company gets there. I don't think we have any of our Germans coming this year. Fritz's brother and sister still living there are infirm and I doubt they will be flying anymore, and we haven't any news of any of the younger generation of relatives making the trip this year. Good luck with your dental work and checkups! And CONGRATULATIONS on being so close to your goals. You are one of our success stories. I'm so proud for you!!!

Delores, it sounds like you've been getting some good rain. We've had lenghty periods of rain and some in town was beneficial but it seems we just got borderline clouds over my house. It would look like a good cloudburst was coming and then it would be pouring down across the highway and light sprinkles for me. The next 3 days are supposed to be very high temperatures and then Thursday, our possibilities for scattered showers again. Florida is getting too much from tropical storm Debby so I should not complain. You might be setting a record if you have a 15 year old computer that's still working. I'm 5 years into my second one since then!!! Better pat that thing on the back!!!

Fran, you are about the same distance I am from the water (Gulf of Mexico) but we'd have to drive a bit longer than an hour to reach mountains. We do have rolling hills quiet near though and it always makes for great scenery.

Ree, the shoulder massage sounds like just the thing today!!! And it's much too hot to think of a drive into town so I guess I'll have to shelf that idea. Praying that the xrays on your ankle is good news and you don't overdo it walking around the medical center. They do make it difficult to get around, don't they!

Angela, happy to hear that you were getting some sunshine. We have an abundance!! I hope your rains move down our way so as not to interrupt the Olympics. Sure would be nice if we could move the rain around as needed or wanted:o)

Jean, I feel that Aaron has done a tremendous good job with his competition. I know he worked so hard and it must have been a disappointment to him not to excell but I think he is still and excellent diver. What a talent. Congratulations to him for even GETTING as far as he has come!

Lew, happy you had such a great catch at that new place to fish that you finally got to try. 20 trout.......wow.......what a great fish fry that would be! Are y'all getting that heavy rain from the storm?

Barb, CONGRATULATIONS on the two pound loss!! My yard is just going to have to make it through the summer on it's own again. We barely had enough rain to dampen the ground each time it rained and it's just too hot for the little I could water, to do any good. I'm thinking about putting in a drip system and a deep water well!!

Dottee, this talk of BBQ sure is making me wish I could prepare a rack of ribs I have in the freezer, but I fear if I ventured out today to fire up the pit, I would cook faster than the ribs!

Beth, welcome back from Venice. Lovely photo of the canal you have on your profile pic.

Lynn, how long will the builders be there. I know you put a long list of improvements in another post and hope they soon have your home all fixed up! Flooding in Fla. and Alabama are terrible this week too. Hope your water goes down quickly and no damage for you.

Donna, Happy to hear you're riding the bike again but don't go too far and get that pain in your knees again!

Now I really need to get busy. Looks like it's going to be workout in the house today. It's 103 F outside right now and 82 in my house, so there will still be some sweating going on but I've been lax this weekend other than a few rounds on the dance floor so I need to work my muscles some. Hope all of you are having a great day!!!

Donna, have you tried the Weight Watcher's Ice Cream Bars? They are really good and really low calories. I find they are tasty and just enough to satisfy my craving.

They are beginning to build the hospitals here the same way - enter at the front and walk forever to get to the outpatient (was just there with my DH who had surgery). It is a new (rebuilt with add-ons) hospital, and I can't say I like it at all. Parking was OK, but that is probably because I went at an off hour when nobody was visiting.

Back to work
Fran
