Hello Girls,
What a day!!! I had a wonderful time at the school today. The young librarian was so in awe of me, I was a little overwhelmed. I also met one of my former student teachers that now works st that school. The PTO President took me out to lunch that was delicious.

Then when I got home I called the doctor to have my ankle looked at. They said they were booked until Thursday. I protested a little and they said if I could come right down then, the doctor could look at it. And it's a good thing I went because he said it could be an infected vein and ordered some antibiotics. So now I'm resting after my hectic weekend and day.

Oh, and yesterday my DIL's friend came over and set up my website and my domain name on his server and now I just have to rebuild the website there which should be easy as I can use wordpress to do it and I know wordpress pretty well.

Today is our grand daughter Megan's 18th birthday. We are going out for a family dinner tonight at Zio's Restaurant, her choice of italian for her special big day.

It does not seem possible that our little gal is graduating, going to prom, turning 18 and starting college this fall. So many huge milestones for her. We were in the hospital delivery room when she came into our world all those glorious years ago. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good Monday morning .... I'm running late and it's all Eldon's fault. He woke at 4:00 am, I slept until 7:00 and then he went back for a morning snooze and is still sleeping and I'm still in my pjs and don't want to go in and wake him by slamming drawers and clanging stuff around. Oh well, nothing to do outdoors because it's raining again. Hopefully the sun will be out for a few minutes today.

I'm on Day 3 of gluten-free diet .... and it's either the placebo effect or it is helping my aches and pains. Whatever works. It's really not so bad. Don't eat many cakes or cookies anyway and there are gluten-free things at the store so the next time I go shopping I'll browse a bit more. My back didn't hurt yesterday and I got out of bed this morning without groaning and moaning. I'm tempted to cancel my pain management appointment on the 11th. I can just see me going in and saying I'm not in pain any more.

We have a friend that has financial issues and she is "willing" to take the crackers, etc., that I have had stashed. Eldon can't eat them because of the salt so they were my treat. Saltines with peanut butter...... salty treats to satisfy my craving for salt. He can still eat the graham crackers so they will be staying.

We'll be going to the gym this afternoon. Have to admit it's not my favorite way to exercise but it's good to have the encouragement of a 'partner' to get 'er done.

Thinking of all of you with worries, aches, various issues to be resolved, problems and anxieties. You need some sunshine in your lives. Just think, above all the clouds the sun is still shining.

Morning
I set my weekly goal to 35 miles which means 5 miles a day average. I will do my best to reach that goal. I am so delighted that my weight is changing. It makes all the exercise effort worthwhile. Some days I just do not want to walk, but the darn little pedometer pinned inside on my bra keeps nudging me to get out there and walk.

No word yet this early morning from the car dealership. Joe is adamant if they won't fix it free, he will just do without his blue tooth feature. I'll look at American made cars, I guess. Darn! The little two seater convertible is so adorable.

I have a lot on my plate today, so I have to get cracking.

Sending hope and cheers to all.

Good morning to everyone.

Well, it is a sunny day here, but not as sunny as was prmised! Never mind, it's bright and dry!

Lola, I hope you really enjoyed that sun you have at the moment. Long may it last!

Boni, you did have a busy day. I expect you worked off a load of calories - well done! We have doves - I'm not sure where they actually nest, but we have a lot, they are so beautiful and I love to hear them cooing. I think they probably originate near the river we have at the back of us, there are load of them along with the ducks, moorhens and seagulls! Quite a mixture!

I'm off walking with friends today, so must get a move on. I hope everyone's day is good.

Goodmorning everyone,
It has been quite the weekend, but I feel it has been very productive. I failed to mention in the last msg that on Friday after my Joyce Myer event my DH was sick and so when time to go out Friday evening to do the feeding he needed me to help, so I did and we were in the middleof all of it and I could not see our cattle back on the ridge, and then he saw they had gotten through the fence to the next farm which has no fence on the other side of the lot and here they were coming up the little road headed for the main highway. So a lot of exercise that night with help of somefamily members who came straight way to help us. While they ended up going to the back 40 running the cattle back with their babies I stayed at home and watched after mama and did the rest of the feeding and watering the animals. Have some new baby doves and if you ever had doves and raised them you know they grow really fast, well we have grey doves and a bit of brown on them and white doves. This one young dove is the most beautiful speckled brown on white...Never had one that color before,,,we just love them. I never knew doves giggled till we started raising them,,,really it sounds like they coo then giggle..We have so much enjoyment out of them. Anyway day two (Friday) was another good workout day for me. Sat. not much but then again today DH needed help loading a lg tiller on a truck and we put that on a boom pole lifted up by the tractor and then I had to swing it around and hold up a heavy flapper to allow him to back the truck under it and slide it on...Arm muscle exercise that was!!!! But feeling really good and have to get back to work, but hope all of you had a blessed weekend and have a great Monday. Boni

If the Lord brings you to it He will take you through it....

Ah, it is a quiet day today.

We have sunshine to share today. It's fairly warm outdoors, anyway warm enough to have the doors open and the heat turned off. Fresh air blowing through the house is so wonderful. The gutters are full of pink "snow" from the flowering tree blossoms that are falling. Grandson came over this afternoon to help Eldon with some chores. Good kid, for sure.

I'm out the door for a few chores - and will enjoy some of that warm spring sunshine we're finally getting. It sure boosts my morale to have sunshine on my shoulders.

Well my trip to the Yumm Center in Louisville,Ky to see Joyce Myer was my first experience at exercise over a long period of time like probably almost an hour if I count the time that I walked from the parking garage to the Yumm Center (over two city blocks) each way, then it is the craziest building, you get inside (after we STOOD outside 1 1/2 hrs to get in) and there are 2 escalators and they take you to the TOP, then you had to walk a city mile in a circle to get to the arena, then you get inside and of course we wanted ground floor up close and we are at the TOP of the arena and had to walk down all those steps to the bottom! Then afterwards we walked back up all the steps, then back to the parking garage. I thought my feet would fall off! The conference was WONDERFUL, she was preaching for near 2 hours before she quit... I left home, picked up my sister, and that was at 2:00pm and it was 11pm before I got home.
Friday morning God just is something I woke up feeling so wonderful in my spirit, I did not ache, I just laid there, I was like I should not be able to move out of this bed at all!!!! I got up my feet did not hurt. I just praised the Lord all morning long. I decided right then if I could do that I could do my workouts, walk, all of which I need so much and no matter how I hurt when I am done, it will get better as I go along...

I am working 4 to midnight tonight so have to get back to work, but just had to tell all of you what an experience it was...Wonderful is what I say!

Have a blessed Sunday.

Saturday and the sun is shining. I am going outdoors to get some natural Vitamin D and putter around in the garden. Still some catching up to do before they deliver the mulch. Who knew there was so much 'stuff' just around in the garden beds. I had put river rocks in some areas and they need to come out - the plants have overgrown them so they are completely covered. There are other places where they would be more useful. I have a low rolling garden stool to sit on so the reaching won't be too bad.

My back is slowly getting better - it will be probably be feeling fine before I get to the pain specialist. Just like a kid - by the time the appointment time comes they are feeling fine, running around the dr's office and acting like normal kids. Same with the knee, it's feeling good now but I'll keep the ortho appointment next month. It's time for the 2-year checkup anyway.

Eldon mowed the lawn yesterday - I need to go out and sweep the sidewalk and clean up around the edges. Sometimes I think the projects are the easy part. Cleaning up afterward is harder. Like putting all the tools away. Or cleaning the paintbrushes. Or cleaning the kitchen after the day is over. I did clean the kitchen stove this morning, though. It was pretty ugly.....

Lynn, I polished your kitchen after breakfast. Washed all the coffee mugs, put the fruit back in your refrigerator, cleaned up the crumbs on the counters, and mopped your floor. It was a lot easier than cleaning my kitchen.

Good morning everyone. A dull day today, a disappointment after yesterday which was brilliant, hot, sunshine all day! Now we're back to normal emoticon

Donna, I have had a Nissan Micra for years. Small, but comfortable and reliable. Now I've gone for the VW Up as a What Car recommendation. Also won best car in America! Look it up.

Delores, I agree the story in The Shack was a bit weak, but it was the dialogue twixt earth and heaven I liked! Wonderful way to look at the Trinity.

Lynn. Have a great day, you're doing lots of walking too. emoticon

Well, I'd better get on. I fear not much walking today, my legs are complaining! I've done 30+ miles in 3 days! Too much for this old gal!

Dolores, I have a Kindle (I've never used it), I have had a Nook for a long time and used it a l lot, then I bought a Nook Touch because it was on sale and I wanted one at my retirement home so I didn't have to carry. I left it there for several months unused, then I tried it. I Love it! It is small, light, adjustable and the pages are turned by touch. It fits in my purse (and probably in my pocket - I haven't tried). There is a new one coming out next month. It will be lit so I don't have to have the light in the bedroom on when my DH is sleeping. And all that for just $139.00. If you like the reader you might look at this pretty little unit.

Jean, Now you see one of the reasons that I don't drive. The other is I see all the crazy moves some of the drivers try to do and I don't even want to try to avoid them. I have enough trouble just avoiding them when I try to cross the street when I'm walking. I'll let the bus and my friends drive my if I can't get there on foot. But you should continue to climb the corporate ladder because that works 9 times out of 10. The 10th time the local people handle it so the bosses don't find out. lol

Sherry, I tried the right click on one of the sites that you had at the bottom of your post and then clicked right back. My whole computer finked out on me. The keyboard didn't want to work and then the whole thing went dead. (Of course I tried moving the mainframe and unplugged the whole thing but that couldn't have had anything to do with it LOL.) I will try it again if I remember to do it.

Well everyone the Cubs beat the Phillies 3-1. And I will go to bed soon. See you all tomorrow if the showers we are supposed to have keep me home bound. If it's a thunderstorm I won't turn on the computer until it is past. If they lie and there is no rain I have to go pick up some drugs and then we are going to the movies at the library--the new first Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey emoticon Goodnight for now.

Lynn, It is good to see you back and trying to do the plan again. You are a wanderer but I wish I could travel like you. But of course part of it is helping your family with the children. I hope you enjoy each and every little one. As I remember they are bright and wonderful children. I am glad to hear that you are going to see your Brother again. You both need to stick together. Bless you both. And I see you have a friend named Dave also. Is this the same Dave that you had talked about before? I hope you have fun together. You obviously travel together. Sounds great. Enjoy emoticon

Beth, Oh yes I read The Shack and I loved it. It had an interesting view on life and heaven. I have heard from those who object to the story. But is is just that--a story. I may be a guide to your thinking but please don't rely too heavily on it. I almost always borrow my books from the library. They even loan ebooks and e-audiobooks. I have been borrowing books to put on my Ipod that I listen to as I am walking. Now I own a notebook (like a Kindle only cheaper) and I will try a download onto it. At least I can enlarge the print on this so I can read it easily.

Testing 1 2 3 4. I have been having tons of problems with posting on the site this evening. I couldn't get emoticons to work and then at 9:30 SP ate my blog. It's late enough that I won't try to duplicate it tonight. As soon as it happened I found it to be ironic. My theme was "You play with the cards you're dealt" and the blog eating card was totally unexpected.

Emoticon test emoticon Now it works. Wouldn't you know.
2nd try-----No workie!

Oh well, at least I got the wireless network working again and I did get my workout in. Finally, 6 days in a row and it's very slowly having an affect.

Have a great weekend.

Hi all, Sorry I wasn't able to check in yesterday. Very early in the morning my friend Christine called and said that she had time to celebrate my birthday with me (only 1 month late but she has been busy). She came over to my place and she ordered a pizza and we played Trivial Pursuit until my bedtime. She at least was able to up date me on how things are going with her mother. Mom is now on a breathing apparatus and a feeding tube in her stomach. They have moved her into a long care facility. Well anyway, she won the first game, I won the second and she won the last 2 .
Today we took our walk up to the duck pond and there were a bunch of baby ducks that were enjoying themselves. There were also the usual ducks and geese and we had a heron visiting. Someone had also put some goldfish in the pond which the heron was watching very closely. I am now watching the Cubs play against Philadelphia.
I will read and bbl.

Just got back from my First Citizens Conference. Lunch was delicious and conference was interesting. The first speakers were about fire safety etc. Then it was lunch, and then the second speaker was on mandates. Since I have one, and I really do not want to talk about death etc. I came home to do some exciting laundry.

The weather is very cold here, and we did see flakes of snow this morning. Suppose to warm up on for the weekend. We live in hope here.

Made it to the gym, but had to miss the pool. I was going to go this afternoon, but came home and they are doing some sort of chemical thing so pool is closed for a few hours. Figure tomorrow will be a better day.

I, too, have to buy a new car. I am driving a Nissan Altima but want to go to something smaller. Any suggestions? Congrats Sue on your new purchase.

Have a great day, and if you live in my part of the world........... stay warm!!!!!

I loved my 2000 Volkswagen Beetle, and drove it until 2009 when Joe wanted the new MINI Cooper Club. So I gave up my Beetle, and took Joe's 2005 MINI convertible. I seriously may go back to Volkswagen. We'll see how my fiasco plays out.

Well, well! It seems I pushed the right buttons at the dealership. I went in to pick up my car, but they did not want me to take it. I had already put in a call to the Dealership's Sales Manager, and top Manager to set up in-person appointments. I am to receive a call on Monday from the top Manager who has the day off today. I did meet with the Sales Manager, and then the Service Department Manager in person. They are going to see what MINI Cooper can do about the blue tooth, and if MINI will not step up to the plate, then the dealership will see what they can do. I am ready to contact Houston's Better Business Bureau, Montgomery County's Better Business Bureau, MINI Cooper, USA; and MINI Cooper of England. The dealership is aware of my next steps. I have been diplomatic, but controlled in my frustration with them. It seems they do not want me to continue on up the ladder to get a resolution, but I am firm in my resolve.

Also hoping for the best.

Hello one and all! I've done 5 miles so far, lots to catch up on - sigh, and I just feel like a sleeeeep!

I did go and look at a new car - the Volkswagon. UP! It is What Car's small car of the year apparently, but also won top car of the year in America! Wow! I had a test drive and it is just great, lovely solid feel to it and great to handle! Watch this space! Well, ok, yes, I ordered one! Shan't have it for months though as they're back ordered! That's how popular they are and only just out! So that'll be all my savings gone for good, but no point hanging on to it as no interest!

Oh dear, I must try and keep up with Alice - here goes. Me too Alice - never walked so much in my life!!!

Hi everyone,
I have been relieved of my baby tending duties for today so here I am.

Irene I hope you feel better soon.

Beth hi I don't think we are ever going to see the sun again either.

Sherry I have done that too with the links. It's much easier and you don't lose your first place.

Hi Nancy and Lynn

Sue good job on the walking how many miles will you do today?

Jean I can understand your frustration about the MINI Cooper fiasco. Your new JoAnn's sounds great! Have fun with the fabric and yarns.

Have a great Friday everyone! emoticon

Morning
I love our new JoAnn Fabric store. Bought another piece of delicious fabric and another skein of yarn. Not that I need one more thing in my stashes.

The 100 year anniversary of the downtown buildings was fun last night. I wore heels bc my gown was a tad long for my height, and my feet were sore bc somehow the heels do not fit right anymore. But I did get in my 5 miles anyway, sore feet or not.

Today I must go pick up Joe's car I am so disgusted with MINI Cooper about his blue tooth fiasco. The blue tooth quit and the car is only a 2009. The service department tells me that because the blue tooth is an integral part of a larger system, it costs $1,800.00 [Eighteen Hundred Dollars] to replace the system so the blue tooth will work again. Outrageous!! I am livid, and of course just moving ahead without the blessing of the blue tooth connection anymore. I cannot tell you how extremely unhappy, betrayed and upset I am about this whole fiasco. How can car designers/engineers put together a vehicle so that one little breakdown can wreck havoc on a system? The car will work just fine without the blue tooth, but we paid extra for this feature and now after only three years, it does not work. Of course I am writing to MINI Cooper corporation letting them know how devastated we are about their lack of competence in putting together a productive, efficient automotive machine.

I am to call the service manager today and listen to his explanation of the reasons for the cost, but you must know that I will not pay even half of that cost to restore a feature that was so poorly engineered in the first place. Ar-g-g-g-g-h-h-h-h Forget my desire to own a beautiful new two seater convertible MINI Cooper. I believe I am cured.

There are some changes, modifications, and improvements to our Start Page. You may have noticed that already. Also, the Drop Down lists from the top row of navigation links have been removed, but you can still get a list of what is within a certain List by rolling your mouse over the named link.

For instance, under Healthy Lifestyle, and Lifestyle Centers, you will still find the Limited Mobility Link, buy you have to pass your mouse over "Lifestyle Centers" first.

have a hint to share, in case it helps anyone.

I sometimes, maybe more than SOME times, click onto a link while I still have Spark open and next thing I know, I have either lost my post, or I have lost Spark AND my post when I backed out. I have found much better luck by RIGHT CLICKING the link I want to open and choosing the option "open link in a new window". Then at least I can close it out and my Spark Page is still sitting there. I have used that open in a new window idea often, but never thought about using it here. For instance, I was able to open PrimroseS's Spark Page "in a new window". Then I looked at her pictures, commented, closed the whole thing out and was back to my post I was writing. It was also helpful to answer a question from Louise (Louise404) about the new Spring Boot Camp that is starting again. (sneaky, huh) I just opened the link "in a new window" by right clicking when I pointed to it.

OK, maybe not so sneaky on the Boot Camp comment, but it is worth a look if you like to do Challenges with Coach Nicole. Louise's concern was it might be too difficult for her knee and hip issues. You will notice you can custom your own fitness videos to avoid exercises that just won't work for you. It takes COMMITMENT to daily exercise and they also mention a resistant band, but I am thinking that would be optional if you chose another fitness video.

Hello all. I'm too busy walking to chat!! No, that's not true, I've been to a coffee morning, had an ear syringed (yuk), had lunch, met with several friends walking to and from surgery and have also walked some!

Irene, sorry to hear you're in the dumps. I hope you have the sunshine we have today (although it's still very windy), as sunshine cheers us all up. I hope you can catch up with some sleep too, it's horrid not to sleep well, I DO know, being a sufferer myself. Which old film did you watch?

Dottee, I'm just off to see those grandchildren of yours on your page! Have a productive day with housework and newsletter!

Good Morning Team,
Beth we have bright sunshine here today! Finally! after umpteen days on cloudy skies. Thanks for the book recommendation. I could never keep up with you and Alice, but I will do some walking today.

Hi Primrosespring, Sue I think, sorry for the showers. You did so much already you deserve a little nap.

I'm taking a day off from the baby helping. I need to work on my house and the Historical Society newsletter. I also have a book talk on Saturday and another on Monday.

I added a picture of the 3 redheads with the black-haired baby (my grandkids) on my sparkpage in my photos.
Have a great Thursday! emoticon

Good morning everyone. So far, it's not raining here! We must be thankful for that (small mercies!).

Donna, it is a real joy to have you back with us. I hope your days may be full of hope.

Dottee, you are so busy at the moment! You are fortunate to be able to get to your GKs. Ours are all a distance away, not a vast distance, but too far for a casual drop in! I agree though, they are tiring when we're old! However did we manage with our own?!

Delores, a good day for you and I hope that nose clears and makes life easier for you.

Dottee, I meant to say - a good book is Mosquito by Roma Tearne. I feel sure you'd like it.

Well, I'd best get walking. I'm out to coffee this morning and need to make a start before I go! Got Alice to beat!

Hi all, I had a wonderful evening at church and when I got home I had 2 phone calls. So I now am able to get on here. My sinuses have been driving me crazy today. I can barely breathe except through my mouth. And my nose just runs away from me.

I will read and then I am going to bed well doped up. See you all tomorrow.

Good evening friends,
Life has been a double whirlwind here. I didn't even get on sparks this morning. And I have about 35 e-mails to answer.

I've been at my DD's all week helping with the new baby. But I'm taking the day off tomorrow as my DD's twin sister is there to help her. I'll be back on the job Friday. So hopefully I'll get a little more rest by then. This is tiring for an old lady like me. LOL

While I was helping with Sarah, little Jackie came over for a couple of hours since his mother my DIL had to take her father to a dr. appt. Jackie is the love of my life. I think he was born with a smile on his face. He just sat next to me on the couch most of the time while I held Sarah. It's so good to have children and grandkids nearby.

It is COLD here, feels more like late winter. It's been in the low 50s during the day but in the 30's at night. Where did that Spring weather go to?

HAPPY 45th ANNIVERSARY Barb! Hope you have a good one. We made it to 47 years before DH passed away. We had a great big bash for our 40th, renewed out vows, and had a big party out, with all our friends. I'm so glad we did that.

Donna you have had 2 such unbearable events happen so close together. Your whole family must be so devastated. Thank God you have those other 4 grandchildren. Not that anyone could take Oliver's place in your life, but they can be such a comfort at a time like this.

Hi fellow sparklers.

Thanks for the welcome back. It will take me a while to get back to things, but I am giving it the old college try.

Lots to catch up on. Certainly I want to wish Barb a very Happy Anniversary, and congratulations to your son on his recent nuptials. I am popping over to your site to see if there are any pictures.

Lousy weather here, Rain, and more rain. Then for a top off, it is cold.

I cannot possibly read back to where I left off, so will just continue from this point, and hope I did not miss any important events or news.

Have a great evening/morning, depending on what part of the world you live in.

Have been 'resting' this afternoon. This morning we both worked out in our little veggie garden. A little shoveling, raking, smoothing and checking to see which seeds were sprouting. The potato sprouts are starting to come up. ~~grin~~ I could have tossed them in the garbage. Maybe we'll get a few ##s from them. Spring makes me happy!! We really have a small yard and our veggie garden takes up about 1/2 of the back yard. It's 8' x 16' raised bed, about 12 inches high.

After a quick lunch we went to the gym for a bit of a workout. It's been a good day. Did just over a mile on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the recumbent bike. Sure wish I could say it was lots .......... but it's good for me.

Hi all,
I can't stay long because DH is fixing supper and he said it won't be to long. We would like to thank you, Jean, Alice, Beth, Primerosespring, Boni and Delores on our wedding congrats anniversary from all you guys.

It's chilly here and raining. The temp is around 50's today. We can't plant anything until it gets warmer. I would like to plant veggies and my flowers.

Sam (my dog) just brought his raw bone at me and wanting me to play, he put it on my lap and I shuffled it on the floor and then he puts it on my lap, then I put back down on the floor, but I think he's resting for now, yip! he's resting, it probably won't be long and he'll have in my lap again.

I ordered my DS and his wife's wedding cake this morning. Boy! I'm going to have my will power working over time that day at the reception because we are having the cake I'm baking as well, which is a Swedish Nut Cake, plus my DS wanting me to bake peach drops cookies. I need all of your to help hold me back.

Well I better scoot my DH has supper ready. I'll try to get back later.

Hugs, Always,
Barb1

Hi everyone well what a mixed bag of weather we have all had, its so odd. Yesterday turned out sunshine and heat so DH and i worked well like an oiled machine on the redesign of our back garden. If i sday so myself the front gardens are lovely now and well established however we laid all the back to lawn only. When we first moved in 3 years ago the whole of the plot of land was only soil and mud! Now the grass has established we are breating beds and borders, i want to fill them with all cottage type plants and make a nice cottage garden.

Today we have had torrential rain, some hail, some sleet and lots wind, so today has forced me to stay inside and iron and do housework. I have made a huge pan of lovely carrot soup though which will do me the next 2 days at work lunches and i will freeze the rest for another day.

Like the rest of you i am thrilled to see Lynne and Donna2 back in our midst, welcome back friends.

Now to have a lovely soak in a bubble bath before i watch The Apprentice which i love at 9 o'clock

Happy Anniversary! Wishing you many, many more years of joy.

I put potato sprouts in the ground this morning. Not sure at all how they will do. Our Market farmer, Elvis, gave them to me. Two of his big bakers sprouted so he would not sell them, but told me to try growing them. What a hoot!!

The sweet potatoes he gave me are up about 2 inches each, so they appear to have taken hold.

I got two tiny twigs of dogwood trees at the Arbor Day celebration in Downtown Conroe a while back. Now one of them is knee high with 20 leaves. The second one is smaller. but coming along.

I always do well with begonia plants, and this year is no exception. I branched out and bought 6 red petunias, and 2 white mixed caladiums, plus an unknown very attractive white and green perennial 12" high "bush" At least I think it is a bush. Darn thing cost me $10.95 at WalMarts, so I hope it grows well. I will certainly baby that one.

I am off to do some errands. No word yet on our car's blue tooth repair in the dealership. I called and left a message this morning, but feel ignored.

OK. I have to make it to 10 then! Half a mile to go and I'll be with you! Yes, fun to compete! I'm not even going to try to match Sherry's marathon effort!

It's hailing now, but briefly before that we had brilliant and HOT sunshine! English weather?! Crazy!

Yup, me too!! I've just completed my ninth mile!! Wey hey, we're giving that Sherry a run for her money! I'm doing as you are from now on - sitting then up and walking, sitting (or going to the shop!), then another walk. Let's see how many we can clock up today!! Go girl!

I'll have a look for that one on Amazon, but when I looked this morning they're all about £20! I think that's the general region - works anywhere, but my PC is tuned to the US one now, so I don't need that. I'm not paying £20 anyway!!

My DIL has just informed me she's lost a stone! Oh my, and here am I still sitting pretty much where I was! Well, I'm really pleased for her, she has about 3 more to go! Yuk!

OK Alice, you're on! I've just done that 4 again and I shall start another soon! See you at the finish line girlfriend! Do you have any others of hers from that series (Walk Slim)? I have the Walk Slim Fast and Firm. I like that series, I'm going to see if there are others. I'm bored with some of the others I have. My favourite is the 3 and 4 Express miles I think.

You can betcha Sherry going to do 20 or something! Wow! She's quite a girl! She's not posting, she's walking! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yes Barb happy Anniversary!

I think your onion story tops the potatos...I love my garden it did not do well with all the extreme heat and dry weather last summer. First year we had such a bad crop.

I am very excited to be seeing Joyce Myer...It is free but we will have to get there and stand in line and hope we are going early enough.

I hope all of you have a great day. boni

Woohoo!!! Cubs win. It took then 10 innings but that is 2 wins in a row.

Hi Barb, I am glad to see you here. Congrats emoticon on making it to 45 years of marriage. I hope your party goes well.

Donna, I am so sorry to hear that Oliver has gone to heaven. He has always looked like such an angel anyway. I hope your family can have many good memories of him while here on earth. Bless your whole family. Things will get better. That is God's promise.

I am now going to bed and I will see you all tomorrow. Good night.

Good evening all,
I'm just popping in for a minute to say hello.

Today's is my DH and I's 45th wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything special, but we are going out this weekend to celebrate it.

I have to go out tomorrow at Wal-Mart and order my DH and his wife's wedding cake for the reception on May 12th. I really am going to be busy that week starting May 8th, 9th and 10th of cleaning house and then Friday I have to prepare the food and then everybody is bringing a dish. We will have plenty of things to eat.

Well I'm going to scoot out of here.

Hi everyone, I went shopping today because Big Lots had a big sale on electronics. I have been wanting a Webcam and maybe a notebook for ebooks. I got the webcam for $12 and the notebook for $45. WOW!! The notebook will also run email and internet on Wi-Fi. But at least I can borrow ebooks from the library to start.

Our bus system has cut back service to various areas in our city. I heard on the TV last night that approximately 100 kids have to walk a mile beside a busy highway to get to school in one part of the city. I bet they will change that. But I have noticed that every bus I have been on lately has been crowded with standing room only. I think they cut things back a little too much.

I have been watching the Cubs play Saint Louis and the Cubs are now behind 1-2. There is very little time left in the game but at least they squeezed out a win 2-1 yesterday.

Marie, It is so good to see you again. I figured you were busy outdoors working hard until the heat hits. Your land sounds like it is recovering from the drought. I have a friend who drives a Caddy and she picks us up every Sunday for church. I feel very privileged to be able to ride in her classy car. I hope you can find one because they are beautiful.

I will read a little and bbl.

Hi Everyone. I feel like I've been gone for a month!!! I don't think I've had so many phone calls or someone knocking on my door so much in 6 months!

I've really had a lot of time out in the yard this week too. If I don't get the yard work and planting done quick, it will already be too hot here to do it. Fritz and I worked almost all weekend trimming trees. There were limbs brushing and smacking the roof of my mobile home during the high winds last week when the big tree came down in my vacant lot, so we had to cut those. Fortunately we have a telescopic handle on the big lobber and I was able to reach the higher limbs to hook the blade over, and hold the handle steady while Fritz yanked on the rope to snip them off. He's 3 inches shorter than I and has gluacoma so he can't look anywhere near the sun and see anything......not telling what we would have been chopping off if he had been positioning the blade hooks! I only whacked him one time with the handle jumping out of the way of a falling branch because he didn't see it falling. Before we got to the other end of the 80 foot long house, my left arm was numb but we made it without getting a twig in the eye or the big end of a limb on our heads.

Yesterday I went after the small branches of the big tree downed in the vacant lot and got about 40 or 60 cut off before my arms gave out. This morning I heard the engine of our neighbors back hoe in that direction, and bless his heart, Tracy was out there working to get the tree broken up and hauled it over to his huge piece of property behind the old school. He and his brother Tim already had a fire going and were clearing my two brush piles and the remainder of that downed tree. They won't take any money for doing the work but Fritz sent me out there with gas money for their machinery. If the whole world was full of neighbors like them, there would be no problems anymore. I am so thankful! I really need to think of a way to show my appreciation and hope I have a good crop from my veggie plants so I can share with them. Good folks!

Lew, it sounds like your good willpower and faithfulness to that walking is really paying off. CONGRATULATIONS on another 1/2 pound off! You aren't that far from your goal, and I have no doubt that you'll get there in good time.
Those ribs sound so good!!! It's time to get the BBQ grill ready for some good food! It keeps my house from heating up in the summertime when I cook outside.

Dottee, I had to go see your picture of that lovely granddaughter and you. What a delight! Makes me wonder when my granddaughters are going to get started. The two of them that are married have good jobs and are determined to pay off their college stuff before they start families so it may be awhile yet. One of my nieces will have a new one for me to cuddle in June so I'll have to content myself with that for awhile:o) You have such great sons for coming to help you with all that work!!! God blessed you well!

Fran, with my love of trees (and Avocados) I might have to go to the nursery and get myself a pair of avocado trees. They'll order them for me at the time of year it's best to plant then and I think I have enough room for 2 more trees out there. Oh Dear, Fritz will be sure I've gone crazy.

Ree, I hope you've got your computer problems sorted out. Mine is getting up in age and I'm already watching sales but want to see what the reviews are on the new Windows 8 before I make up my mind. I'll also consult with my nephew who sets up computer systems for Dr.s offices to see which ones he says are the best home computers. Little by little he's teaching me things about computers that I never wanted to know:o) Fritz is saying we ARE going to visit his son in Hawaii this summer and I will test my sanity away from the computer. They are building a house, almost through but still working on finish work inside and although they have a brand new computer, still in the box, they won't have the money to get internet until they get finished on their new house so I will probably have to go 'cold turkey' :o)
I think I'll pass on that pancake recipe with a pound of butter!!! Must serve 30 people!
I try my best not to eat bread often too. I did find some gluten free crackers and it sure has made a big difference with my intestinal problems. I'm really pleased that I can put on those little crackers what I usually had on bread if I cut it up.

Fran, you must work with computers a lot with all that knowledge! We'll probably get some of that storm coming from the west too....glad you warned me!

Nancy, I know you will have a good week on your own when Bob goes on his trip. I try to get everything done before Fritz's van rolls in the driveway because he wants to recap everything that happened at the shop in the evenings (and I rarely know what he's talking about).

Delores, it's great to see you posting again. I'm sorry you've been depressed and hope that the weather gets better soon so you can keep us updated on your walks by the river and concerts downtown again. Reading good books IS a great way to get away from it all for a bit, though. Stock up on the carrot and celery sticks and some great gluten free crackers with hummus and you can munch all you want. They keep the hunger down between meals and don't count for many calories. You'll kick right back..........you know we're such good company that you can't stay away for long:o)

Boni, what a wonderful crowd of people for your benefit! I'm sure it must have been a very emotional gathering and brought back so many great memories. You're heart is full.
Boni, it really is difficult to start a new lifestyle when you're so busy all the time. I hope you can start finding half an hour now and then to give yourself some 'ME' time. Maybe if you start with 10 minutes and sort of work it in?????Just don't give up...you'll figure something out.
Your seed potato story reminded me of the year my daughter in law who worked for an ONION farm, told me at Christmas she was going to send me a bundle of onion slips when it was time to plant them. I got my little 20X 20 garden tilled and thought I'd get an early start on my garden. Low and behold, a week or so later, the onions came that she had promised.....150 onions set 8 inches apart. I had little room for the rest of my veggies that year:o) I'm so happy you will be getting to go to the Joyce Myer show.....that woman is a real heart lifter!!! She was here at my nephews church a couple months ago with a 'sold out' presentation. My nephew works sounds and was allowed to share their copy with me and it really lifted me!

Lola, I'm happy to hear that you are sleeping better and hope that very soon, your back with cooperate with your active mind! I know that must be getting to you with better weather setting in. I'm holding my breath here with my fridge and freezer both. I've heard so many people say how quickly they go out now and mine fridge is 12 years old and the freezer almost 7. Sure hope they don't both go out at once! Guess I could have a bar b q and invite all the neighbors:o) Hope you get that trip to the beach soon!!! But I know Eldon must bless the day he found you, everytime he thinks about how ill he has been and all you have been through.

Beth, happy to hear that you got some walking done on your trip! Now to get back to normal:o)

Lynn!!! How wonderful that you are back! What a rocky road you've had but hopefully it will be a brighter future! It does sound like Dave is a decent sort! Shame there are so many scoundrels in this world. One of my grandsons is having 'woman problems' right now, so they're not all of the male gender. Bless your heart......I'm happy you've found another friend who is of better character!! Hope you'll share your weight loss with us this month so we can have a WHOOPIE month!

Jean, Fritz and I went Sunday afternoon to take a look at that Caddilac and it was a beauty. It looked like almost new and Fritz went yesterday to look into it and someone had already bought it. Bummer. The word is out that he's looking though so I'm sure one of his friends will call him with something interesting soon. I'm happy that you teach in such a great enviornment........some of those public schools are horror stories.

Donna2, I cannot imagine the vacancy in your hearts at losing that little angel who brought so much love to your family. God bless all of you with memories of his sweetness and faith that he is keeping his granddad company for now. What a blessed reunion it will be when we are all together with our loved ones once again.

Fritz's brother called a couple of hours ago and brought out some Sago Palms that he's thinning out, had coffee with us and visited awhile, so the rest of the evening will spin away quickly with things I was going to do before our company arrived. Wishing each of you a wonderful day tomorrow.

Here's another of Lew's blogs that resonated with me. Thanks, Lew.

------------------------------

Ray Stevens, comedienne, does a lot of funny songs and one my grandson likes is "The Haircut Song'. It's on U-Tube if you need a chuckle. He sings about some very stressful haircuts when he's away from home. The song is funny but what stress does to us is anything but.

I recently read a great article about stress on Sparkpeople. The title is "Beat Stress, Weigh Less" and it's packed with good information about stress and ways to get some relief from it. www.sparkpeople.com/resource/wellnes
s_
articles.asp?id=1482&page=2
I know there are more methods than are listed in the article because for me just sitting and listening to music can be very calming if it's the right music. I do take advantage of my haircuts to just sit in the chair, close my eyes, and allow the barber to pamper me. It works for me.

Obviously, the article just scratches the surface of stress caused problems as it focuses on weight loss. Not only is stress a detriment to weight loss but it affects our health in so many ways that it's important that we learn to recognize stress and deal with it. During my working life stress had the opposite effect on my health. As long as I was in a stressful job I never got sick but when I retired and took on a low stress engineer position I started catching colds and other ailments. Fortunately for me I was thrust into a high pressure position and my ills ceased. High pressure did not translate to high pay. Darn! Now that I'm not working I still have to deal with stress and I have to work on easing it.

However for normal people, and I'm sure you're more normal than I am, stress can be a real health hazard. If you're dealing with stress that article is a good place to start building your knowledge and learning how to relieve yours. The article says do it every day so if you say I never have time then try doing it when you go to bed. Just lie there and try to thing of something calming. I read somewhere that this works and I have had it work for me. Find what works for you.

Enjoy the ride,

Lew

Dear Sparks Friends,

It has been a very difficult year for our family. First the loss of Lorne, and now the loss of Oliver. To lose a child is the greatest loss of all, but to watch your children lose a child is just beyond devastating. He was an adorable, happy child. He went through all those treatments with a smile on his face and never looked sick. The last month he stopped smiling, and we knew the obvious. The end was near. He took his last three breaths, surrounded by his Mom,
Dad, and his grandparents, with his favourite program on t.v. at home, where he loved to be.

The is the reason I took a break from Sparks.

My dear friends, I could not have gotten through this horrible ordeal without you. Your kindness, goodies, cards, Spark mails, phone calls, donations to the "Ollie Bear Fund," and your sincere comments on the "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" chat. I read every comment many times and rejoiced at what wonderful friends I have. There are no words to say except a very plain thank you.

Thank you so very much.

Oliver will be buried with his grandfather Cinnamon and they will take care of each other in Heaven.

Again thank you.

With love,

Afternoon all
DH's car is in the dealership to either re-program his blue tooth connection, or replace the part. Re-programming takes several hours they tell me, and I am not sure they even have the replacement part. Either way, I am not stuck sitting in the dealership. My loaner is a four door 2012 MINI Cooper S. Very pretty, but not the car on my wish list.

I drove out to the Gallery with lunch for Joe and I. He took the loaner for a spin. On the way back, I stopped in the mall and walked, shopped a bit, but did not find anything worth buying, so I am home again.

Our old refrigerator sits in the garage on its last leg. It keeps beverages cool enough on the bottom shelf. Our newer side by side has the freezer handle pulled loose. I pulled it too hard trying to open the freezer door too soon after closing the frig door. Blasted magnetic closures!! So now I open both doors from the top instead of the handles. Ar-g-g-g-g-h-h-h-h
