We are combining the Chatterbox topic and the Walk Chat topic into one topic for the team. Please go to the new CHATTER BOX topic . The goal is to be together, not duplicate efforts, one spot to check, one united team. Hear is the new link.
I lean to having just one thread, A NEW THREAD and close the current threads off. We can add Thread Closed to the topic name to ensure previous members don't wander onto closed threads. . (Lola, hope I am not wrong on that, used to be we could not change a topic name, but I believe the person who started the thread can now edit the name, and that would be you and me)
I do like the name Chatterbox, it is exactly what this is, a box to chat in. Perhaps just a spelling change would work. Call it CHATTER BOX

Good April Fools Day morning. I guess I can try to get away with saying it was an April Fools joke that I forgot to unlock the S/S this morning. But it would be a lame excuse, truth be told, I remembered the minute my head hit the pillow last night and was too tired to get up, walk ALL THE WAY downstairs and open my laptop and turn it on. Now THAT is lazy! So thanks to Sue and Alice for the gentle reminder. My chance to add to it today is squashed I think, as we have to go downtown Edmonton to return the dog we have been puppy sitting and the lady is ordering pizza. I can tell you, the cat we are kitty sitting will be thrilled to see the dog go! Our pet sitting services took on full capacity this last two weeks.
TOPIC: Our Chatterbox Thread had dwindled to 3 people if you did not count Lola and Jean, two of those three drifted over here and it seems silly to have two chats going now. It was fine when the Main Chat was sooooo busy with well over 50 posts a day, this little chat was a place for those who could not spend the time to keep up with so many posts.
My heart is here, but I would survive if we started a new CHAT PAGE and let this one close. After all, it is only a name change, the same people would be posting on just one chat and eliminate the need for Jean and Lola to be covering two chats. Doing that burned me out before, I know the difficulties and time it takes covering two chats, which was why I cut back to one chat a couple years ago.
Lola brought the topic up on the Chatterbox thread, we would like to have some feed back. opinions, suggestions, concerns. Be honest, I do not want to lose anyone due to a change in threads.

Good afternoon peeps, nice sunny day today, good to see washing blowing on the line. Took me 20 mins to find out the calories in my roast chicken dinner and 10 mins to eat it and could have eaten double potions. The things we endure to keep the weight off a! Walked 2 miles and a brisk walk to the shops to get Steve some chocolate for an easter gift...with instructions to hide it or loose it.
GERRY Lovely to see you energetic in mind and body.

Hello, folks. Not much Easter for me. I had chosen not to go out and it turns out it was a good thing. Most of my family were sick with stomach flu. The last thing I need when my trip looms so close!
The newsletter, calendar, and updated phone list are finished and distributed! WHEW! That's a huge load off my mind. Dr. appt at 10:30, lunch with a friend who moved out of here, laundry, and I don't know what all else today. I've already been to the gym. 20 min of jogging, and 60 min of laps. I only make 20-25 laps/hr so far.
Have a good April fools day...hope you don't get caught in a joke!

Morning all
Delores, great way to give Leon his burger and fries but make it a bit healthier and lower cals. We have to find ways with all our favourite foods to do this.
Jean, some lovely places to walk on that link, love the 'dragon' looks a bit like Nessie from Loch Ness...lol
Our sun has disappeared but still dry, even if cold. Forecast for the week is more cold, but mainly dry so I suppose it is a slight improvement and at least we can see the flowers now the snow is mostly gone!
Ralph, working hard and nice of Staci to help with those splinters...now stop scratching your head or you will get more!
See you all later, elder son and dil and 2 dogs due very soon, want to get the throw covers on the settee!!!!

Hi all, We had a wonderful Easter day. My daughter arrived just at the end of breakfast. Her husband Danny was able to wolf down some before service began. The service was wonderful as usual. I was able to introduce my daughter and her family to my friends at church. Then they had to go to his mother's house for Easter dinner.
Leon and I hurried home and had quick sandwiches for lunch so we could watch the Notre Dame women beat Kansas and Skylar Diggins break the total scoring record for the Notre Dame women's teams ever. Now they are in the great eight. Dottie--You root for my ND women and I will root for Syracuse.
I didn't make any big dinner for Easter. I gave Leon the choice of meals and of course he chose cheese burgers and fries. The burgers were turkey and the FFs were sweet potato fries baked. I added peas I stayed within my calories which is saying a lot considering the big breakfast the church fed us.
Well, I am going to bed now and I will see you all tomorrow.

The musical link I posted is for, "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee!" It is in my hymn book, but I have never heard it played more beautifully than it is in the orchestra's mob flash video. I can sing the English version while listening to it in another language.

My brother Phill's flight arrangements got totally messed up. Somehow they didn't have his tickets when he got to the airport and told him there was no way they could accommodate him. I don't understand. Joe and I always have our boarding passes within the 24 hour limit before take-off, and a confirmation number for our flights. His office handled the arrangements, but someone dropped the ball. Now he is arriving after 11:00 PM, and we have to get up at 3:30AM to head for the memorial service five hours away by car. Tuesday he has an 8:00AM flight back to WA. This is tax season and he is a CPA, so he can't just hang around.
I am happy he is coming but so disappointed for his sake that everything got fouled up so miserably. I hope his sleep deprivation doesn't make him ill. Maybe he can sleep between Seattle and Houston; I hope so.
Megan and I had a 3 mile walk on the nature trail with the dogs and then drove to the WaterWay and Walked the full circle. So my outdoor miles are awesome today. The Koi Garden is so inviting. I do enjoy seeing the beautiful fish. www.thewoodlandstx.com/photos/view_by_memb er.php?view_member_id=4303
I gave you a link in case you want to stay and browse the WaterWay. It is my favorite place to walk.
Happy Easter everyone.

Happy Easter one & all,
I was standing in 34 degree weather this morning at 6AM. The girls decided to go to sunrise service. Yes, I was wearing shorts & a short sleeve dress up polo shirt.
I worked on the wooden raised vegetable gardens yesterday, my hands are so sore AND Staci took out 5 splinters after services. 4 hours of wood shop.
I also cut bushes & cut up all of the branches & leaves & sucked up all of the errant leaves & debris. 2 hours yard work.
I took apart 2 wooden chairs & re-glued & drove screws into the legs to stiffen them up. 30 minutes chair fixing.
My muscles are sore especially in my wrists & hands.
Today I'm taking the day off.

Morning all
Happy Easter to those who celebrate, and please don't eat too many eggs!! Not got any this year, although Ralph has a couple.
Ralph, yes it is me who has the other Ralph...lol....one day you will have to meet!
Beautiful day again, if only the wind would drop, it would be perfect, but the wind makes it so cold! Still at least it is learning to be dry for a while.
Alice, hope you are enjoying your weekend with Tommy, we saw Emma for 5 mins yesterday....lol

Hi everybody, It's been such a busy but nice day. Went to church at noon to have the food blessed, then to my DD house for lunch with the family. She also had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Went to the store to pick up a few things I needed for tomorrow. Came home, watched the Syracuse basketball game (They won!) Yea! Took a slight nap. Made a cheesecake for tomorrow, and did the dishes.WOW! And now I AM tired!

Hi all, We had an almost spring day today. We went to the library because I had some books to return and some reserved to be picked up. We then went from there to walk along the river. A lot of others had the same idea. There were bikes, joggers and many walkers like us. A lot of them had dogs with them. Leon loves to pet the dogs and he got the chance often.
Tomorrow my church is having Easter breakfast and Ida has promised to bring her family and stay for church. That will make me so happy if they can make it. Then I will have chicken and fixings instead of turkey or ham. It will be only the two of us.
I enjoy the Easter season and I try to catch as many services as I can. I forgot to say that I had gone to the local Methodist Church for their Good Friday service. It was almost completely music.
I will answer the questions about the hat--That is part of Hacienda's birthday party. They come to your table when you are finished eating making a lot of noise singing at the top of their lungs. They brought the hat and placed it on my hat. Then there was this big cake and I had a piece and Danny had a piece but Ida was too full. Then it came home with me so I cut Leon a piece (he doesn't like hispanic food so Ida brought him a double cheeseburger, fries and a root beer). The best part of the party was holding Emmy and entertaining her. I had half my food for dinner tonight and it reheats very well.
Well, I will see you all tomorrow afternoon. Goodbye for now.

Hello everyone, I am heading home using David's "hotspot" for Internet connection. Doesn't that just make you smile.
Our 3 day walking tour went so well, and we created new walks, and modified existing walks for Volkssport walkers when they visit the Calgary, Okotoks, Canmore area. We walked 30.5miles/49k over the 2 1/2 days. I was very lucky to have been asked to join in on this trip.
Lots of traffic on this highway, coming and going. Motion sickness plagues me, so I will sign out.
RC, your wish is my pleasure. I will send you a WHO'S WHO

Hi all, I know I am late. I crashed my computer. It went completely black and I couldn't figure out what I had done. I finally figured it out 3 hours later. I have a box under my desk and I kicked it into the surge protector switch. I turned it off which cut all the power to the computer. DUH! I couldn't get on here with my stupid phone but my son had set it up with Facebook access. Anyone who wants to check there you will see an interesting discussion with my DSon.
I had a wonderful day today. My DD did show up and take me out for dinner we went to Hacienda's Restaurant. I tried something new, and they snuck a cake and hat in on me. I had a wonderful time since she brought her DH and little Emmy with her. There are pictures on my page if anyone is interested.
Now I have to get off here and go to bed. Goodnight.

Hello All,
Last night was The Last Supper, today is Good Friday, tomorrow Holy Saturday & then Easter Sunday.
I still remember some Catholic stuff although I'm not a practicing Catholic anymore. My days in St. Vincent's Seminary left some stuff to ponder.
I listened to a very interesting film, 40 years ago RE: Changing our atomic make up or structure. The MOODY INSTITUTE put it out. Too involved to into now AND I never talk religion w/ friends.
Everyone has his/her own belief & s/b able to praise or not praise the way they want to. So that's all I'm going to say about it.
SHERRY - You get to walk & drink to your hearts content. wow. I'm missing out big time. My loss...
ALICE - Dirt under your nails sounds like fun. AND down to 1 glass of wine a day...good for you, kid. Did I ever show you how I sow seeds???
GINNA - I hope everything is going well w/ you. Georgia sounds wonderful about now.
LOLA - I never would have guessed you had your knees worked on. You glide so nicely across the dance floor.
SUE - I hope all is well w/ you & RALPH & I'm glad his tests came back negative. If RALPH isn't yours, I'm sorry I get mixed up sometimes. If RALPH is yours I stand by what I said.
JEAN - You always say good stuff & especially are timely when you talk stuff to me & Staci. Thank you.
My leg is improving & I think I may have a broken wrist??? If it still hurts on Tuesday I'll go have it x-rayed.
I need to write up a spreadsheet w/ names & countries on it. I had one all done up & sent to me by a certain Lady, her initials were, SHERRY N. It needs to be expanded & you do it so well SHERRY. I know I couldn't do it better...please will you send another??? I can pay you in ounces of wine...lots of ounces.
Have the best couple of days ever & have a great Easter.
Ralph & Staci

Donna, I had both knees done at one time. I did go into a rehab facility for about 10 days after being discharged from the hospital. You will need to have someone to care for you for a period of time. I am happy I had both done at the same time. One hospital, one round of surgery, one period of time to recover. Can't say it was fun in any stretch of the word, but I'm glad I didn't have to do it twice. There is equipment that makes it easier - raised seats for the loo, grab bars to help you move, transfer benches to get into the tub. Your doctor can help you decide what you need. Whatever choice you make, do as much as possible beforehand to make your arms and legs stronger. It definitely would be easier to get around with only one leg at a time .... but you would have to do it twice. If you can't get rehab facility accommodations I'd be reluctant to do both at a time. It takes a lot of rehab work and help to keep going.
I need to go add some more outdoor work time to the spreadsheet. I keep forgetting....... If I do the time I should get the credit, right? Rhododendrons are blooming in the back yard. I watched a squirrel do the happy dance when he dug up a filbert stored in the garden last fall. They are starting to sprout. We'll be pulling filbert tree seedlings soon. (nutlings?)

Donna Your arms will have quite a work-out getting you onto the bathroom facilities if you don't have the use of either leg. Oh, my!! That could be a tremendous challenge. If it needs to be done than my all means, get the surgeries now rather than later. You are not getting any younger. None of us are.
Alice How encouraging that you are walking and losing weight Backed off your wine to a single serving. Great! Now your weight is coming down. that is so rewarding. Good for you.
Sherry Your steps and miles will just knock me out of the ball park. Here I was catching up to you and off you go again. Marvelous!! Enjoy every step and hug along the way.
Beth Your knees, too. Do get them taken care of to get your mobility back. A worthwhile course of action to get healthy again. Best wishes.
Ginna Housework can be put on hold sometimes, here, too. Great.
Sue 4 days off in a row. That is something to celebrate.
Our errands are complete. Easter dinner is set back later so my brother can be with us for the meal. I'm glad for that.
Happy Easter one and all.

Hello everyone on Good Friday.
Alice - you're still walking AND losing - well done! I've stopped alcohol for this week as it's Holy Week. I am SO longing for a glass of wine on Sunday!
Great news from Sue about Ralph. I am happy for you both.
Donna sorry about the knees! Join the club! I go in next Saturday to have an arthroscopy on mine.
Have a happy Easter one and all.

Good morning! I'm reading along, trying to catch up again. Alice, I'm so impressed by your cutting the wine consumption to one glass a day. I vacillate back and forth with that. Sometimes I cut it out entirely then go back to one or two. When I've cut it out, I tend to think that I'm too old to give up something that I enjoy. Oh well, I think its time to give it up again and try to get some pounds off.
Donna, that is real news about your knees. You will definitely have to keep us posted on your progress with that. Do you have any idea of how long you'll be on the waiting list? My doctor tells me that I should get mine done (my right knee), before aging will make recovery more difficult. I think you are smart to get it out of the way now. I'm just really lazy about another recovery after a leg issue. I'll be thinking of you all through this.
I'm so glad to see the good news about Sue's Ralph. We are all celebrating this happy time with you.
Good for you, Sherry, to be off with your walking group. We'll be looking for your report. I hope that you get in the 30 or 40k. It is wonderful to have such a delightful group to share your walking experience. Have a wonderful time.
Well, I have to do something constructive. Not that reading online isn't constructive, but there is a lot to be done around my house. Lola, my vacuum has been parked in the living room since Tuesday. I think it is calling me right now.

Good afternoon guy and dolls, just spent a very satisfying couple of hours in the sowed 16 trays of different seeds, its warmer down there than it is indoors, Steve covered the inside with bubble wrap and lit the heater...so nice to have dirt under my nails again. My lovely man brought me red roses instead of an egg and a couple of DIME bars (only 150 cals each so I will make these last) ooo the taste of the choc gave me feelings I thought i would never have again...yep THAT good.
SUE 1 & 2 Glad you have some sun not much here so if you can send me a couple of rays I will be pleased.
DOROTHY Thanks for the encouragement and enjoy your festivities to the fullest.
DONNA1 It was because of the anger with the bank that I walked like a good un...walked it off. My friend is down for a knee op and she is pooing herself but has decided to get both done and get the pain out of the way...good luck to you both.
JEAN sorry to hear about your Uncle but as you say maybe a blessing
GERRY Love to see you busy, that darn inspection always gets you going.

Morning We had our deteriorating wooden gazebo removed yesterday by Garry, (Pam's companion) and his crew. The yard looks so different without it. Joe asked Garry to give us a quote now on removing and replacing our front deck. It's deteriorating and sagging with hardi-plank surface over old supports and wooden deck. Needs to be done. So glad to have the funds to take care of repairs now that the gallery is not sucking us dry.
Really looking forward to brother Phill's visit. We visited him on our trip West when we met up with Lola. He does our taxes every year, but it's so grand to have a personal visit and hugs.
Now I have some extra cleaning to schedule in. Walking may have to be curtailed a bit to conserve energy.
Sherry Wow! You are going to really put in the miles with your walking group. I'll fall behind for sure, but as our Jacque would say, "I'll be watching you!!"
I'm so pleased to see the activity on our Walk With Me spread sheet. Congratulations to all who stick with it.
Ralph I carry you in my heart daily. Wishing you comfort and strength.
Hugs and good wishes for all of you I didn't mention by name. We do miss our Marie who consistently had a personal word for each of us. Bless you Marie for all your love and care for us.

Morning all
Jean, sorry to hear about your uncle.
Donna, don't suppose they do both knees at the same time, they don't over here....you literally wouldn't have a leg to stand on! They will do the worst first!
Sunny today and temps up to 15 haha, but the wind is sooooo cold. Still nice to see the sun and it does look pretty with the snow, and at least the roads are clear so we can get out if we want to.
Done my walking, we were up early this morning and catching up on some jobs.
see you later

Hi everybody I just got through watching my Syracuse team beat Indiana! Woo Hoo! Yay! I hope they go all the way. Now I have a sore throat from yelling so much.
I already planned the menu and did some of the shopping. And now just have the the cooking left.
Jean sorry about your uncle's passing.
Good job on the walking, Alice.
Delores I'm glad you had nice weather today. We are getting warmer now but it was cloudy today.
Sherry enjoy your walking adventure. Good Night to the rest of the Team!

Hi all, We went for a walk today since the sun was shining and the temperature was beautiful. This evening we went to Maundy Thursday service at our church. Tomorrow my DD is coming to take me out for lunch, hopefully. She still owes me my birthday present. We shall see what happens.
Jean, That's a sad story about your uncle. It is too bad he fell but those things happen.
Sue, Wonderful news about Ralph. So he at least passed those tests with flying colors.
Well, I need to get to bed so I will see you all tomorrow.

Ralph Very funny!!
Well, some news here, too. My 77 yr old uncle Bob died Tuesday evening. He was my Dad's youngest brother, born six months after my brother Dave, and one year before me. Bob had dementia, fell in his nursing home, trauma to his head caused a stroke, then a heart attack. His brain quit functioning after the head trauma, so it was a blessing that he died.
My youngest brother Phill from Spokane is flying to Houston Sunday to travel to Fredericksburg, TX for the memorial service with us. Bob was cremated and his ashes will be spread in his favorite campsite in Alaska.
So Easter will be highly unusual, but sweet to have an unexpected visit from brother Phill.

Thursday morning here .... It's still morning by a few minutes..
My apologies to those who I might have missed responding to SparkMail notes. I finally looked through a huge number of regular emails and saw some that I had not seen before - and didn't find them in the SparkMail box. Curious... I don't always catch everything in the email - and they sometimes get buried at the bottom of the pile. Now I'm curious about what I have missed or not responded to. Bummer.
Sue - what a relief for Ralph. I bet you both had big smiles when you walked out of the dr. office yesterday. It's a big weight lifted.
Sherry, you've found a wonderful group of friends with the side benefit of walking. Friends are #1, walking is #2. There are profound benefits of face-to-face conversations, laughing, joking and sharing. Enjoy your time and we enjoy it vicariously.
The sky is turning very light here, I expect we will be having sunshine between raindrops today.
And no, the vacuuming didn't get done yesterday. I ended up pushing it to the side of the room. Today has to be the day. I need to get out my big chore-board and make big lists to cross off when I've accomplished something. I keep getting sidetracked with other stuff. Sigh. I'd much rather be doing something fun.

Ralph Sue's Ralph So glad it is not cancer. Sherry Wow! That's a lot of walking lady. Good for you!!
Wow!! A Baptist church in our area has rented the pavilion for Easter Sunday and is releasing the largest amount of butterflies ever from Texas, plus they are serving Free Starbucks coffee. Now that should bring some unchurched folks out on Easter Sunday. It's not our congregation, but I am impressed.
The group my DIL and I take quilt classes with is considering a weekend quilting retreat in Conroe. I have never been on one, but if our traveling schedule allows, I will do it. Joe and I have several mini trips planned, so we'll see how the dates are resolved. I googled the retreat site, and it is very inviting. (Aunt Faye's, Retreat) myretreatcenter.com

Alice, we did our wills through a solicitor, BUT through Help the Aged, who offered a free will as long as you left them something...although our solicitor said as long as we said it was through them we didn't have to leave them anything!!!! We left a token amount, much less than the price of the wills. Have a look around as lots of charities do that now. However that doesn't help Steve booking time off work, so here I am, pass your coat, I am ready for anything now!

Hi Dottee, I am checking in also. Second day of sewing and painting for clients in my own basement and that will do it till Monday. Early tomorrow morning I am off for a 3 day walking holiday in Calgary, Okotoks, and might even hit Canmore! I expect we will get in 30, maybe 40k while we are out and about. I am sure you all think I am nuts, I know I felt that way when I joined this group. But this is so enjoyable------once we get the walking out of the way

Hello everyone, I had another busy day today. Library, Accountant's Office, and grocery shopping for Easter Dinner Sunday.
I am having Easter Dinner at my house. Some of the kids are bringing dishes. I'm cooking the rest. We will go to church on Saturday with our baskets of food to be blessed (Polish custom) and then go to my DD's for lunch and an Easter egg hunt for the little kids. Relaxing Saturday evening and cooking on Sunday. Phew! I'll be busy. There will be 19 of us in all counting the grands.

For once I'm ahead of my chore list.- mowed the lawn yesterday because it is supposed to rain today. So far the sun is shining. I have the kitchen window open for a few puffs of fresh air. Today I WILL run the vacuum around the house. I don't know why I resist that chore as much as I do - it always makes me feel good when it's done. The kitchen is sparkling but dust has settled around the edges of the rest of the house. Such is life.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a good evening out with family and a few special friends. Life is good.

Hi again, Today my daughter and her family were to take me out to dinner but she wasn't feeling well so it was postponed until Friday. I hope her doctor's apointment can figure out the problem for her quickly. So I went out this afternoon and picked out my own birthday present. I shop at a small toy store for my grandkids' presents and I had a credit so I got my present for the cost of the tax. I then went to the Chocolate Shop across the street and bought a small bit of chocolate as well. Wonderful birthday presents if I say so myself.
Now am getting ready to watch the Notre Dame women play in the second round in the tourney. I will see you all tomorrow.

I see you talking about ''Wills'' I have one made but i haven't gotten the arrangements made....... i figure the kids should keep all that money instead of paying for a burial.....just cream mate me and throw my ash's near a lake........ maybe bury them under a nice tree by the lake..........they should make sure i am facing the lake........... or if they want to have a funeral..........i want them to do a rehearsal so I know what they will say about me.....................
