Hi, I am New but I wanted to share a few answers...
Nevella probiotics.nevella.com/ here is the link to the one I use. Of course regular Nevella doesn't have probiotics and the website is probably just www.nevella.com
I have opened the book today at Books a Million, but I haven't read it, I bought it and I will take it with us on our camping trip and begin reading the magic filled inside.
Somebody asked if it was hopeless (paraphrased) for them to do the Eat Clean way just because Tosca eats differently and 'someone wanted to lose weight'. Rule of thumb is that if you are cutting back calories or just plain eating more healthy than your body is used to; you won't lose weight in the beginning. But, you will lose inches. I suggest strongly you measure all parts of your body and do it monthly or twice a month if you are adding exercise into the mix. Results are better seen via a tape measure than on a scale. Trust me, Been there - Done that!
Everyone is different so what is "at first", "in the beginning" for one is not gonna be the same for another. I suggest that you don't eat 'Eating Clean' as a diet but as a Way of Life - this is when your inspiration, motivation, and dedication will kick in and perhaps then you can start to see weight Loss via the scale.
Another thing I was concerned about is that I saw Tosca do an interview and she showed what was in her cooler. She said she's eating tighter because she's going to have photo shoots soon, so only tuna and salad and splash of lemon...no whole grains or anything like that she said she was hoping that did the trick..which makes me think that if she eats clean regularly she must also gain a little weight in order to have to go on a stricter diet to lose it before photo shoots...if that's the case and someone who works our hard like her gains weight each time she just eats clean...then there's not much hope for me!! What do you think?
you guys are making me nervous about the not losing any weight at first part...like how long is "the first part?" I've been counting calories or points for so many years it's ingrained in me. And now I know how many I have to eat to lose weight according to sparkpeople, I'm sure I'll just eat clean AND watch my calories, otherwise I won't be losing any weight. I bought the flax seed and the wheat germ yesterday (I'm not doing bee pollen) to put in my oatmeal, but that adds another 100 or so calories to the oatmeal..sheesh..it seems like all her little add ins sound so innocent but they just keep adding calories, and if you only get about 1300 to eat a day those add up fast!
You're welcome Jody. Or, if a friend is interested in this too, maybe you can each buy a book and share. Or, do you have a birthday or anything coming up that a friend or relative might need a gift for? No harm in helping them by telling them something you NEED for health.
I understand the waiting for money to come in. Check out eatcleandiet.com. There is a forum and recipes there too.
Maybe the library or local bookstore has Clean Eating magazine. Could you afford one issue? I have found recipes for a week, and that's after I'm picky and only choose a few.
in the recharged book, she warns to go slow. and i had to go slow with the coffee... i also had to go slow w/the sugar for the kids.
"cutting out the sugar" to me meant literally dumping the sugar and flour in the trash. i have fresh fruits for my family, so when they get the sweet tooth, there is always a banana, watermelon cut up, grape, apple, orange, kiwi, peach, plum, etc. so they still have no idea there is literally no sugar in this house.
i make whole wheat bread. i have bought spelt flour but i have not been brave enough to use it yet. i have made blueberry muffins and my kids have had no idea that there is no sugar in it--in fact, i took it to work, and they disappeared in 15 minutes! no joke!
unsweetened apple sauce goes a mile in this house! i have also taken the plain yogurt and added the apple sauce, and kashi cereals. sometimes nuts. sometimes i sprinkle of dried fruit.
i have nevella for my coffee.
i too, was not losing weight at first. and i was discouraged, until i tried on a pair of jeans that i hadn't fit in in 3 years (i yo yo w/my weight). up until that day, i scoffed at "but i am losing inches."... those jeans proved that that is exactly what happened. and now, finally, i am actually losing the weight too...
i am doing a mix between cooler 1 and cooler 2...

Thanks for the info Bethany. I'm going to check out a "new and used" bookstore near my house first. Amazon has some good prices but I have never ordered from the internet. I just have to wait till my hubby gets some overtime. He was recently called back to work after being laid off for a year and a half. We are still catching up on our bills.

I love sucanat in my ff vanilla greek yogurt,it reminds me of a dessert I used to eat in France all the time, I love it!! But I don't like sucanat in my coffee at all. I've tried agave nectar as well, tastes great on and in things, but not my coffee...not sure what' Im going to do about that yet..maybe just cut it out. Anwyay...We ate clean all day yesterday and I'm going to try her family plan meals that are in the Diet Recharged book, but I also want to get the book for families and kids, since I have 3 I need ways to get them to eat healthier before they get any more picky and stubborn about food! :)
I've been EC for the most part for a couple of months now. When I have coffee, and that's now not every day, I started using Agave Nectar but it didn't do it for me. I tried sucanat (SUgar CAne NATural). Hubby thinks it looks like brown sugar but it's not. I haven't found it in regular grocery stores but there are two stores that I have foun in my area where I can buy it in bulk.
I use maple syrup in my daily morning oatmeal most days; some times I use honey. I like the flavor of real maple syrup (I live in NH) better than honey in the oatmeal.
I've sweeted greek yogurt with honey to make a clean parfait and I've use agave nectar and unsweetened applesauce, and whatever else was called for in the recipe, to make applesauce walnut muffins.
I started EC for weight loss. At first I didn't see any changes so I had to go to Tosca's Cooler 1 plan. We go to bed early so I had trouble getting all meals and snacks in before 4 hours before bed. I have elminated 1 snack. I'm not on the Cooler 1 but a personally modified version of it. I've lost several pounds since modifying from just any CE recipes.
I've read and heard that artificial sweeteners are just as bad, if not worse. Worse especially if you are EC for general health or the environment.
It's also said that once you ween yourself from the salty and the sweet that you won't crave it as much, if at all, and that when you do eat it, it will seem far too salty or sweet than you remember, like someone else said.
See if the library has Tosca's EC Diet Recharged or the Complete Idiot's Guide to CE. I bought those and Tosca's EC Diet Cookbook and am enjoying the information and the recipes. Look on amazon.com for deals or at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders or other book store for coupons, etc.
I bought the eat clean diet recharged book yesterday and have been reading it. I started today with coffee with sucanat, but didn't like the way it tasted, so tried it black for the second cup, then had 1 egg, 1/4 cup egg beaters scrambled with bell peppers, onion and a wedge of laughing cow cheese on top of a whole wheat bagel thin...figured that was pretty good for a first meal of protein and complex carbs.........giving up sweet things may be the hardest thing I've ever done though.
I weaned myself to very little and I don't miss it. Occasionally I'll have something sweet for dessert (or, when things are really bad, stress relief) but we're talking in the neighborhood of once a month or less.
I've found that if I consume something sweet the sugar is so overpowering that I usually can't finish the serving.

How do you really give up Sugar?? Tosca says it's terrible and to give it up...Seriously? In today's world...with three small kids and a husband, how could I possibly give it up..sure I could switch to substitutes, but is that really any better? I can't even imagine giving up sweet things, what other things do you use to sweeten something, surely you don't live your whole life never eating another sweet anything?! do you??
