Hey, you may want to think about signing your son up with AAA with a vehicle that old! I understand your feeling sad... I don't have children, but I've had a brood of young cousins... seems like only yesterday I was removing a dart from one's head (wasn't serious) and now she has a couple of kids herself. (Maybe I'll tell them the "dart" story, huh? :D)
I haven't been feeling too well since I ate those chips... serves me right though... I think this has put an end to my cheating.
If I don't hear from you before the fair -- have a good time! And careful with those fries! (See what happened to me?!?)
Glad you made it to the gym - I did too, and did 30 minutes on the elliptical - But I've been a bad, bad, girl the past few days. I've been feeling rather 'down' - could be that time of the month, could be that I"m bummed that my son (21 in Oct) moved out and into his dad's house (he bought him a car, so he agreed to move in - it's an '88, but still...) Anyhow, tomorrow to Sunday hubby and i are manning a booth at a fair. We've cooked up some chicken to take and I'll be bringing protein bars and fruit. I really hope the smells of fries don't make me eat them! I'll weigh in on Monday morning and let you know how bad my damage is. I hope you're losing weight - 5 nacho chips... that's not too bad, right?
I don't know where my last post went... did I put it on another board???
Well, I went to the gym late today... and now I remember why I like to go at 5:30 in the morning! Those darn aerobics classes! They don't simply play upbeat music -- they speed it up so it sounds like the chipmunks singing!! I did 30 minutes cardio, then I got the heck outta there!
I hope you made it to the gym!
I didn't eat very well today either... ate 5 nacho chips... but I PAID for it with an upset stomach afterwards! Would tums qualify under eating clean?
no wall involved in this exercise - you use an exercise ball (okay, here's the wall) - pushed up against the wall. put your hands on it and put your feet out behind it - you're now balancing yourself on the ball by your hands. Now you pretty much run in place by bringing up your knees to your chest. Can you visualize it now?
good for your for getting to the gym. You can do push up in the water against the edge of the pool, though they aren't as effective.
I'm not doing good with "eating clean". I am trying to eat healthy, though, and sometimes feel guilty (okay, a lot - what's up with our "obsession" with being 'skinnier'?) (rhertorical question) that I slip up.
Anyhow, I hope to go to the gym 2 X today - lunch time (arms) and after work.
What do you mean by put your legs out behind you? I still can't quite imagine it. Is this done on a rock climbing wall? Or on any wall? Do you travel upwards when you do it?
That's great that you're thinking about becoming a trainer! Maybe it's something you can enjoy part time?
I managed to get out to the pool this weekend and did some upper body work. Dips are much easier in the water! Push ups, however, are a bit difficult because I have to hold my breath!
I'm doing much better on Eating Clean since I went to the grocery store. They had a sale on figs and since I've never had them before, I thought I'd try them. The ones I bought weren't terribly sweet -- nothing like fig newtons! But still tasty. I never knew you could eat the whole thing... skin and all! I also snack on corn on the cob. I buy the ones completely in leaves and put them in a toaster oven for 20 min at about 400F. Then let them sit to cool. Much tastier!
Well it's almost 5am and I'm off to the gym in a few minutes! Have a good day if I don't hear from you!
Sorry, I don't know much about heartrate monitors or bandless monitors... Rock climb on ball - with ball against a wall, put your hands on the ball with your legs out behind you. sort of jog, bringing up your knees to your chest. That's about it.
Today I went to another club because they have an informational session about becoming group work out trainers, but I'm not going to go forward with it. too much work for too little money/classes. Besides, I've got a full time job with excellent wages/hours. I'm still curious about being a personal trainer and will look more into that with other gyms.
I'll be painting a bedroom over this weekend, that in itself it exercise, so I won't be going to the gym. And next weekend my husband and I will be manning a booth at a fair (eek! help!), so thursday/Friday (after work) and Sat/Sun I'll be busy!
I'll try to get some workouts in during the week (at least on my lunch).
Hey! It sounds like you had a GREAT workout! How do you rock climb with a ball? I'm still searching for my heartrate monitor... I lost part of it and I'm going crazy without it! Do you know anything about those bandless monitors? Are they any good? I've been seeing mixed reviews -- many people saying it's too difficult to check their numbers while in motion.
The gym closes early today, so I'm off to the pool and a Jari Love video!
Yes, I made it to the gym - first some plank work, then 20 min. cardio, then 15 min. plyometrics (3 X 5 exercises: 15 sit ups with weight, lunge off side of step, finger tap push ups on sides of step, rock climbing while leaning on med. ball, then lunges with weights), then another 20 min. cardio. Eating was "okay" - darn boss! He loves to eat and brought in pizza at lunch time - had 3 slices - shake for breakfast, 2 peaches for snack, and for supper had salmon patties with salad and carrots. Yum! Had blueberries for snack. Today should be cleaner - 2 shakes - B&L, and skinless chicken for supper with salad, probably. I have fruit for my snacks.
Checking in for Wednesday... a little late here... fell asleep.
Managed the gym today, but didn't eat very well. I really need to go shopping. Made a seafood & veggie dish for dinner... protein shake... curried chicken lunch... I forgot what I had eaten there for a moment! Not a good thing to do, but I was really focused on my work.
How did things go with you, Sandy? Did you make it to the gym after work?
Well at least someone got something done today! Good for you for eating right today and GETTING to the gym! (More than I can say for ME! :( ) OMG! Bootcamp exercises?!? You're in MUCH better shape than me!! I'd race ya, but you'd be the roadrunner and I'd be the coyote and fall off a cliff somewhere! :D
I woke this morning and started to get ready to go to the gym when I got a really bad headache. It was unusually bad and I don't know why. I took some meds and lay down and, of course, fell asleep. And I've been behind all day! I never made it to the gym, but managed my diet well -- a protein shake, a couple of small chicken salad sandwiches made with nayonaise and whole grain bread... raw broccoli with a yogurt dip, and a little fresh pineapple.
::looks at clock:: Yeah, I should have been in bed over an hour ago. Have a good day tomorrow and I'll catch up with you in the evening!
Hi Sandy! Well, if anyone wants to, they can jump in at any point. I'd put our challenge on the board, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do things on this message board... sorry everybody!!
I try to get to the gym by 5:30am... it starts my day on a good note. I feel like I did something to advance my goals. I spend the rest of the day with paperwork and phone calls... yawn. I start off the day with a protein shake as well. I like Spirutein. It has vitamins in it. Sometimes I will add ground flax seed, wheat germ or fruit depending on the flavor.
Chicken wings!! I LOVE them too! ACE??? Oh my Gosh! I don't blame you for indulging... I would too!
I've been stuck at 130 pounds for awhile now. My own fault. I've been lax at going to the gym and have been inconsistant with my diet. I'd like to get to 125 by the end of September.
So are you ready to get started? Don't forget your veggies!
I'll weigh myself in the morning before work. I'm expecting it to be close, if not more, than 150 lbs. I ate out for supper tonight (hubby insists that I tell "you"!!!) - all you can eat chicken wings! Argh! But it was good!
Tomorrow it's on to a clean diet, with clean eating and hopefully good results. Ideally, I'd like to lose 10 lbs between here and there - hopefully i'm not more than 150.
Breakfast and lunch will be a protein shake with ground oats in them. Yum. I make it with soy milk (ark! I ran out today and forgot about that - I've one at work already (didn't have it today - whooops-) so my morning shake will be with 1% milk. I'll also have several peaches - the going fruit at the moment. I plan on going blueberry picking in the evening with my youngest son (19, has schizophrenia, but is in control of it, long long story), and my little sister (Big Brothers/Big Sisters - I'm the Big) and her younger brother. I hope to make it to the gym during my lunch hour and do some upper body workouts.
Hi! I'd like to join you on the "challenge"!! I have to get back into my fitness routine that I had earlier this season... I fell off track and have been haphazardly going to the gym -- really doing nothing effective and now my weight is trying to creep-up again.
