It has been ages since I have posted anything here. I guess I finally feel like I am back on track...AGAIN!!! Today was the fourth day in a row that I have gotten myself up out of bed and worked out. Friday and Saturday I was away, so I used the exercise room at the hotel, yesterday I took a bike ride and today I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill!!! I have been doing much better with my eating, still need to drink more water, though. I am upset with myself for gaining so much weight after I lost so much, but I am past hating myself for it and on to better health. It is hard to take good care of yourself when you are feeling like a failure! My DH was looking at some pictures the other day of both of us when we had lost so much weight, I was already on track, but that really got me moving!!!!

Have a great day!!!!

It will be easy to lose the weight!

hi all, i am having a bad summer, first all the rain in PA, means no swimming, then my daughter in law broke her ankle and i had to go 3hrs away to watch 2yr old hannah, which is ok, just tiring. then on the 20th i had to have surgery, surprise, i got an infection by my stomach and had to have it taken out, now i have a wound vac on and a nurse comes 3x a week to change it. I was supposed to go to my sons to watch hannah again but i couldn't, so my youngest son went to help'
i was a little depressed because they are going to try for another baby [ they have to do invitro ] and i couldn't go, well they will implant the eggs today, please pray for them that we get a baby, i am hoping for a boy but as long as its healthy its good. i am not well enough to be in this chair too long so i have to go. have a great week. hugs liz emoticon

You are in control of your destiny. Here are a few affirmations that help keep me centered:

"Every step I take leads me toward my Life Purpose."

"Divine guidance is with me always."

"I am now free to do the things i Love."

"I now call on the light of God to guide me."

"I am acting upon my Life Purpose with joy and passion"

Have a great day!

I have to remember today that I can't waste precious time worrying about things over which I am powerless.
I need to focus my attention on those things I do have control over and work on doing the next right thing in front of me.

One week to get through--just one week. Finals Wednesday & Thursday and then I can concentrate on my workouts, keeping healthy food around, and preparations for my son's wedding at the end of August. Just one week and I can see my life getting back to normal.

One of my favorite quotations about life is: "The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough." Make time for yourself in each day. Eat vegetables (have them ready/washed in the fridge) - fruits - skim mozzarella sticks - whole grain pretzel sticks....snack every 3-4 hrs so you won't get hungry, and always eat a good breakfast. You can make it!

WOW!!!!! sounds like you have your life in the fast lane...slow down by taking 5, 10, or 15 minutes to sit where it is quiet & just relax with some breathing exercises. hope this will help

I need some encouragement today - it's not food or exercise - it's life in general - the driveway being paved, band boosters, and on and on and on.

Personal size pizza it a good idea.
I had a slice from a local pizza place yesterday.
Plenty of cheese and tomato sauce.
It had just come out of the oven..
BUT the crust was not crisp. It was rather SOGGY.
I doubt I will go back there.
Will chat more when I get back from vacation..
Leaving July 2, home July 14

I seldom eat pizza but I might have one of those frozen personal size ones every now and then. They aren't too, too bad.

The other thing I have given up, but have on a very rare occasion is PIZZA. Bread, pasta, pizza. SIGH.
Even when I go to Olive Garden, I order soup and salad. I don't eat the bread sticks and fill up on 1 bowl of soup and lots of salad.
I am a happy camper with that.

Well, you're ahead of me in a lot of things eaten. I have never tried Agave but I think I've heard of it. I can't give up carbs ... good bread and pasta.

I have been neglectiful in tracking food.
I do write everything down, but never get up the go to track it on SP
I am good with protien.
Lately I have been having some delicious Pacific salmon and Mahi Mahi from the South Atlantic..
I have a Wegmans near me and buy my fish there.
So far this past week I have had 3 fish meals.
I do not buy any farm raised stuff and eat only whole foods. No processed foods of any kind.
I also use Greek yogurt (plain). I add my own fruit.
It's the best and so thick and creamy.
I use Agave syrup,(low glycemic) and stevia in place of sugar.

Well back to orgainzing things for my trip and cleaning up clutter to make room for more clutter.

I am in Cumberland County (Harrisburg area).
Where are you from?

I'll be back on tomorrow.

Well, the whole wheat pasta has 6 gms of fiber per serving and it tastes really good. You do have to have some carbs in your diet. I usually track all my foods and I always meet my goals for fiber and protein when I eat WW pasta. It has protein in it. I've been staying away from a lot of meat lately so I have to get my protein somewhere. I eat beans and yogurt but sometimes my protein falls short.

I haven't been tracking for the past week because I was camping but I'm getting back in the swing now.

I too cook just what I will eat.
That way I am not tempted to eat it all at once.
That's why if I do cook any pasta, it's only enough for that meal..

Thanks for the encouragement.

I have found that I have to practice self control by only cooking what I will eat. If I cook anymore that is when I eat it all.

Thanks for the tip.
I love yogurt and fruit..and veggies.
Pasta is no problem as it is not even a weekly meal for me.
That and bread are the main foods I stay away from. Just one bite of either and I don't know when to stop. Then it dawns on me after the damage has been done, emoticon I could of had a V-8.

Try a yogurt and fruit breakfast and eat a lot of vegetables. Switch to whole wheat pasta if you haven't already. It works for me!

The last time I weighed in was January 24, '09.
I have gained back the 11 pounds since then.
I weighed in this morning with a 2# loss.
I'll be on vacation for 2 weeks and need all the encouragement I can get, especially on the 7 day cruise..THERE IS FOOD EVERYWHERE..
I know all the right things to eat, BUT I just don't know when to stop..

I am on Getting Healthy with the Lord's Help team. One of the team members suggested that I eat a good breakfast, big lunch and a light supper, no eating after 9.
I have done really well following this especially about not eating after 9.. The first few evenings were rough.
TV is getting really raunchy and boring so I turn it off and read.
That has helped slow my evening snacking right up to bed time.

Be Blessed
Make it a great day.

Just back from a 4 day camping trip that included 8 mile walk accumulation daily and a diet of strawberries, meatless meatloaf and whole wheat pasta, etc only to be met with a graduation party upon my return. That included cookies and cakes, potato chips, etc.

I never eat the latter fare but I did at this party. Then I showed up for leftovers the next day.

Today, I am motivated to get back on track. I know I eat chips once or twice a year and that was one of them. I seldom eat cakes and truly, they were too sweet for me. Today I'm movtivated to get to the gym and take a long, long walk.

I think I may finally be back on track. After running a 5K race in the pouring rain yesterday, it made me realize how much I missed running. Today I went out and ran 5 miles. Actually felt pretty good. Legs are a little tired and stiff now, but no pain.

I have also been doing my Slim in 6 workouts for the past 4 days. Skipped it today to give my legs a rest after the run.

Another graduation party--but I behaved and just ate a little of most, with carrots, and watermelon slices--then we came home and walked around our 2 acres of yard!

Hi Everyone - I hope all is well with you!!!

You should be proud of yourself for coming as far as you have come. This is a lifestyle change not a quick fix. And just like life it has its ups and downs. Stay strong and believe in yourself. If you are stuck try something new. Never give up on yourself. Never get discouraged. Keep striving to do the best you can everyday and it will pay off eventually.

Just be patient and great things will start to happen. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!

Hi Everyone, I'm back after being off the boards and the plan for far too long! I wasn't feeling well for a while and started back on the plan today! My first stop after entering my new "measurements" was here for a dose of encouragement. Thank you!! I wish you all a happy and healthy day.

I only have time to exercise Friday, Sat, & Sunday. So I am not really getting a lot of activity other than walking where I can. I'm not toned and not losing anything! I do OK with my easing until I get hungry at the end of the day, and I eat too much for dinner. That is what I need to improve upon.

This past weekend on another team, we had a CICO challenge, which stands for "Calories In, Calories Out." Not only did we have to record our nutritional calories, but we had to stay within the goal range. We also recorded the number of calories expended by exercise.

Turns out, I've not been eating enough! Regularly, I've been under goal for the day, and despite the workouts, I was stuck on Mt. Plateau! So this past week, I've made a concentrated effort to actually HIT goal consumption... and I've lost 2.8 pounds since Monday!

I drink lots of water, and have been walking alot lately, but maybe I need to get back to keeping track of actual calories again.

Hello QUEEN, ANN, DEEC, MISSRISS & GRAM...thanks for the advice you have given me.
I do drink lots of water, anywhere between 72-80 oz. daily.
I just started to do walking DVDs so hopefully that will do something for me.
Sometimes I do not get enough protein in daily so I am working on that
I will be on here daily to keep you posted on my progress.

Thanks again
Em

I find that I do better if I stay off the scale. My doctor suggested I toss out the scale and just pay mind to what I eat and find time everyday to exercise. I am down a pants size and will know the weigh when I see him in 2 weeks. My biggest problem is snacking. I am doing good at night..oh but when it is slow at work. bored eating..lol is there such a thing?

I'm with Whiskers12189--WATER!! And I'll add to that one--SLEEP. Once I gave up caffeine and soda, I really started sleeping better, and that helps me exercise more and have more energy to get more accomplished in a day, which in turn helps me sleep better...

I am not saying this will work for you but I am trying to eat more protein this week. I exercise faithfully and even when I keep my calories down I don't lose weight. Since I started SP and logging in my nutrition, I am realizing I don't eat enough protein. I can't build muscle when I exercise without the protein.

The biggest thing I can suggest is WATER, WATER, and more WATER. Just cutting out soda and making sure I get my water every day has helped me lose 48 pounds in the past 10 months. Well, that and walking!

Try changing up your exercise routine. You can also modify your diet. Try more fiber full meals. Keep switching things up and you will get past this.

You don't need to go to the gym for strength training. The exercises can be done at home with little or no equipment. If you don't have light weights, you can use soup cans. Other exercises use a towel for resistance.

There are no short cuts to any place worth going..

I need some encouragement. I feel like I'm getting into a rut. Tired of just walking/jogging on a daily basis. Can't afford a gym for strength training. I feel it's hopeless and I'm destine to be FAT!!! emoticon emoticon
