Last day of August and felt I'd better check in!!! Still busy with mom and dad...mostly getting dad to the rest of his dr's appointments. The last one for now is with the neurologist to see if there is anything that can be done for the dizziness. He will have all the report from the cardiologist and ears/nose/throat doc. Once this is done, the next step is to see about the possibility of getting his knees replaced. Mom continues to do well and I am so enjoying having this time with her.

Karen, looking forward to seeing pictures of your newest project. Maybe I'll get to attend one of the events where you'll be.

Barb, car is finally done! Good for DH.

Dazsy, emoticon for you for getting your walks in.

Dorothy, have fun in Buffalo. By the way, my bff from MA gets the B12 shots. With out them she just drags and they have made such a difference in her life. Mention it to your doc. It's surprising how many women get them and how much their lives improve.

Hope you all have a great holiday. The rain really came down tonight but God knows we need it. The ground was starting to "crunch"!

Went to the Trumbull Co Car Show this AM near Warren OH. Then off to a flea market. Did not buy anything there. Ice cream and Dairy Queen this afternoon and should have stopped there, but had supper after six. Oh, Bother! Not being a good girl, I guess!

Daizy - thanks for the advice - willing to try anything at this point. Way to go on getting out and walking - one step at a time!

Got out last night and got my front gardens tidied up - love it when they look so good!

Morning Ladies!

So proud of myself...was going to back to bed after kids were on the bus, but put my sweats on and went for a walk instead. Slowly but surely, I'm getting back in the groove :) I am trying to remind myself that I have choices.

Dorothy- I don't know what to use specifically for menopause, but I know my sister has MS and her issue is ALWAYS her B vitamins. Even though for a "normal" person, her B levels are good, she still has to go get B shots once a month, because she just drags without them and can hardly get the energy to get out of bed. Another thing (don't laugh) is bee pollen. I know a lot of people who take that for energy levels and it seems to help. Don't know if either of these are things you have tried, but I thought I would put it out there :)

Barb- so glad things are going well! Hopefully the trip to Ohio comes true this weekend :)

LOL my dog went with me on my walk and is now napping...time to hit the shower!

Have a great day everyone

Dorothy, glad you got some golf in and had a good score. Yesterday was beautiful and DH thinks everything is fixed on the car finally. emoticon When I was going thru menopause, I gained about a pound a month. It was because my hormones were wacky! That's why I came back to Spark after being away for awhile. I lost it all in about 18 months and now I have gained almost all of it back. Bad old sweet tooth! emoticon emoticon emoticon Sweet tooth challenge is done for DGD and I and we tied. I celebrated with a wee bit of chocolate this AM.

Have a great Wednesday, All!

Barb - please do tell on what natural things you found for menopause. The trouble with my thyroid is they tell me that my levels are fine but I am just dragging all the time. I saw my regular Dr yesterday and she is changing my anti depressant - I use it for anxiety - and we will see if that was part of the problom for weight gain and fatigue.

I golfed faily well last night - if only I had done well on all the holes but i was happy with my score.

Greetings, All! On another team I am on someone there used dactinol and said it was allowed in organic gardening because it is natural. I have not found that yet, but it could have been confused with one called 'dacinol' that isn't OK.

My sister-in-law just told me that another relative told her to try using 'seal a meal' for freeze corn on the cob whole and it would be just like garden fresh. Well, she is trying that first and suppose to let me know. emoticon We'll see.

DH is still working on the car. Got the rest of the parts last night after work. The weather is holding up nicely, so, he may get ahead on it tonight.

DD's family has been hit with a head cold virus. She and the twins sound awful. Her DH seems to be over his bout and the youngest seems to have escaped it so far.

If the car gets up and running before Friday, DH wants to visit his sister in Ohio this weekend. Every Labor Day weekend they have a car show out there that he likes to see and we missed it last year. Hope he gets to go. Looking forward to it.
OH. LADIES, I used some natural things for menopausal symptoms that worked great. And, Dorothy, a low thyroid can mimic some of the sleep apnea symptoms. Happened to my DIL.

Good night, All!

Barb - I don't know anything about that pesticide either - like karen I maiinly use manure and let mother nature do the rest, Dpn't feel bad - my hubby now has 2 older cars that need work and a clunker truck - don't know which is worse the clunkers or a car payment.

karen - I am with you - wish I had been more omnformed about menopause - all I ever heard about was the hot flashes - i can handle those its the rest that I am not doing so good with. Hopefully I will have some answers soon - she mmonkeyed with some medication and i am going back in 8 weeks after blood work and I will be getting a scan on my thyroid then. They also want to check me for sleep apnea whcih i don't think is a problem.

Looks like I will be able to golf tonight!

emoticon everyone,

Barb, I'm with you 100% with the no cold Sept!!!! Not sure about that dactinol, not familiar with it at all, I just let mother nature do her thing. I'm a manure kind of gal to treat my soil. Will post some wine chimes tomorrow. No real big deal, but could get as fancy as one could imagine. That car will be up and running before you know it!!!!!

Dorothy, hormones sure make me moan any more!!! Hope your DR gives you good news!!!! The older I get the harder it gets. Wish I'd known years back! Will try to post some pics tomorrow.

Hey Daizy, welcome back !!!! Been doing any freezing of your veggies???

Off to hit the pillow emoticon have a peaceful evening.

Dorothy, don't want a cold September. Please change what you heard. emoticon
Hope your eye apt went well!

Karen, yes, please do upload pics of your newest projects. My older Brother dropped by yesterday and brought us some tomatoes and cukes and looked at our one lonely plant and said it has the blight. So much for that. I am concerned about the tomatoes he gave us because he said he used 'dactinol' a chemical pesticide, to keep from getting the blight. He used it a lot so now I am concerned about eating them! Does anyone else know about that?

Daizy, seems like everyone is slowly getting back to the normal grinding working of things.
The local school where two DGK go started today. Where my DH works, starts Wed.

Sun today. emoticon

DH is still working on the car. It is jacked up waiting for more parts. Oh, bother!

Karen - you need to post a picture of your wine bottle wind chimes or tell me how to make one - would love to make one. My tomatoes are turning so slowly - have cucmbers growing out of my ears - lol! I will be surprised if I get any peppers. I hear its suppose to be a cold September! emoticon

Daizy - I so miss zumba - wish they would offer it at the Y again. They are offering a yoga/pilates class that sounds awesome!

Dr Appt in Erie today to see if my hormones are all out of whack. I can't seem to stop gaining weight!

HI Everyone!

What a crazy two weeks it has been! I did 3 trainings for work, went to a work conference, then took a mini-vacay to Niagara Falls. Now school is back in session and I am able to breathe :)
Back to walking and Zumba-ing.

Hope everyone is well!

emoticon everyone,

Dorothy, quite dreary here, I wanted to get the mowing done, not sure that will happen today. So you say bedrooms, are you starting to do your fall cleaning? I still haven't gotten my spring cleaning done! How's your garden? My tomatoes are starting to ripen all at once, I think I'm going to start looking like a one. Glad you finally got a golf game in. Geez bowling is around the corner! When does your son go back to school? Tom's teacher's were back last week and the kids this week. Seems too early for me!

Barb, ouch on your finger! Glad it's feeling a bit better. No I haven't posted any new pics lately. I've been working on wine bottle wind chimes and fused glass ones. Hope to sell them at the next Flea.

Mary Anne, I've thought of getting some steps for her, but then thought I trip on them in the middle of the night! But they'd probably work near the chair. My sis said the same about her tomatoes. I told her there are plenty of good green recipes out there.

Well off to sneak a walk in and hopefully get the mowing done. Have a great weekend!
emoticon to everyone I may have missed.

Barb - flad to hear the finger is getting better. A couple of weeks ago I slit my finger while pulling weeds - ouch. it finally hilled and I slit another finger on a plastic tie - ouch again. This one is a taking a bit longer to heal. Not to mention a stepped on a nail a couple of weeks ago and had to get a tetnus shot. That is still healing as well.

I am sure April is exhausted from all of the confusion and the throwing up from camping. My dog is a big baby when we have thinder storms and we have had a ew lately. Both of my dogs love when I cut up zuchinni, squash or cucmbers - they beg for some. I have benn giving then the cucmbers that are too big plus they have been steeling my tomatoes.

Dorothy, so glad you had a great day and could emoticon yesterday. emoticon it wasn't a good game but you are right. At least you got out! Oh, the powdered PB can be purchased online or probably at a local health food store. I got mine online. Not really close to health food store and wanted to have a NonGMO product.

Finger is better with less swelling and unless I bump it, it feels pretty good. Showed it to DH yesterday and he thinks I will lose the nail. April is lazing around like she is still recovering from the camping ordeal or it could be because all of this rain keeps us from going out as much.

DH brought home some veggies and a cantaloupe from a farm vendor last night. Had some cantaloupe for breakfast and it is delicious.

Going to the funeral home tonight. The mother of a good friend from church passed away The funeral is tomorrow, but we are not planning to go. The car still needs some work and DH will have the truck at work -- which I don't drive anyway. DH is taking a sick day Friday for some Drs appointments and we may have a light lunch out.

Have a great day, All!

Barb - it was a beautiful day here yesterday and warm but the rain has moved in our area now and does not look good for the next several days!

I did read your blog and enjoyed it - sounds like a good/bad time camping - sorry about the finger.

My golf game was terrible - sigh - but at least I got to get out and play! Lots of biting black flys!

emoticon Dorothy! I saw the weather map on the internet (TV still very sparse here) and locally we are to have chances of showers -- 50/50 tomorrow -- from today thru Friday. Hope you are fairing better there!

I blogged about our camping trip yesterday if anybody is interested. I have some pics to post later on.

Couldn't get in the groove yesterday. Thinking it will be more normal today. I can use my smashed finger some today. I may lose the nail. Thinking about posting a pic of it, too, but it is really ugly looking,

Have to work on sales tax today. I think it is due tomorrow. Didn't do much this time so it shouldn't take much time.

40 but the sun is peeking out. Hope we get a full fledge sun at the campground today. The girls are going to be in a dress-up parade. They would not tell me what they were dressing like. Well, the youngest one did. They had great aspirations last year to win a prize, but didn't. This year, they are just looking to have fun.

DH brought home some cherry tomatoes from work yesterday. A co-worker gave them to him. Our plants died. We still have onions and one lonely heirloom tomato plant. Maybe all those blossoms on it will produce something.

April is well again and we are planning to take her to the campground with us since it is an overnight stay. Since we have to keep her on a leash, she won't be able to play ball, but will take two of her chew toys with us. She will get to see Harley, too. Maybe they will play a little bit.

Have some sewing requests to work on next week and lots of cleaning like the rest of you guys. Our yard shopping on the weekends in June and July left much undone here.

Dorothy, how much more golfing can you get in? Hope you get to do some.

Karen, have you posted any new pics? When I get these new projects done, I hope to post.

Mary Anne, how wonderful you are doing with your parents! You are not only a daughter, but a good friend and companion.

Pynetree, how are you? Daizy, whatcha been doing?

IMEMINE, nice to see you post here! Hello to anyone I may have forgotten.

Have a great weekend!

Hi all! I'm loving these cool nights with open windows.

Karen, glad to hear that things are going really well for you and your "venture". Didn't know that your mother painted. Lots of talent in your family. Sorry to hear that girl is really showing her age. I had purchased some stairs for Molly to get up on the bed and now Daisy has started to use them. I never moved them since Poly likes to sit on the top step.

Barb, sounds like DH will be busy with his truck for a while. Poor April. Hope she's feeling better. Have fun at the camp ground.

Dorothy, I have really let my house work go this summer. Didn't even do my windows and probably won't get to them before it gets cold. Heard from my cousin up in Maine and she's afraid her tomatoes aren't going to have time to turn red before the cold hits. They've had either cooler weather then we've had. He plants are loaded but all green.

Daisy, how are you doing.

Will be spending tomorrow with my folks since I didn't make it today so not sure when I'll get on. Have a Fantastic Friday everyone!!!

Karen - I agree - my house definately takes a back burner in the summer months - would much rather be outside. I have some seriously cleaning to do and it looks like my weekend is going to busy - boo!

Beautiful out there this morn, temps in the low 60s, low humidity, gotta love it!

Dorothy, I too think I'll have to take a couple days just to get my house in order. Somehow every summer I always manage to neglect it. I do prefer to be outside, though! Here's hoping our tomatoes ripen before we get a frost and Tuesday you get to swing your clubs!

Barb, new gas lines, ummm, do you think the ethanol did them in? It sure messed our lines on the boat. We switched to non ethanol and it sure runs better. Sorry to hear April hasn't been feeling well, hope the pink stuff works! Have a great time camping this weekend, looks like a super one!

Off to get my walk in. Have a healthy Thursday and weekend!

Barb - oh yes we have had lots of rain - and severe storms last night so no golfing for me. Still pretty cloudy out there - at least I will not have to water tonight.

Karen - my toatoes are loaded but are not ripening and my peppers are pathetic. My zuchinni, summer sqaush and cucmbers are all doing great. Glad you got to enjoy your time at the beach this year and wonderful news on the coffee house and flea market.

Maryanne - I hear you on the house work - I am thinking I am going to have to take a day off to clean mine - sigh! So much to do yet while the weather stays nice - I hope our fall is nice!

Hello! Dorothy, so sorry about the golf. It has been too wet -- and raining -- to even walk in the yard! Puddles, puddles, everywhere!

Karen, what a great closing out of summer! A good Artful Flea and a mess of fish, too! Congrats on the Coffeehouse opening! that's wonderful! Sorry about the kitty!

DH got the 'project' truck running and found out it needs some new gas line. It will still take some time and money to get it on the road.

April has been ill. She was off her food and running to the yard to go yesterday and today. Gave her some pink medicine like the vet recommended the last time and fixed some burger for her for her lunch. She ate some of her regular food with a little juice from boiled chicken for supper.

It rained all last night and most of today. Suppose that is what is going on all over PA. Suppose to go to the camp grounds and stay over with the DD and DGKs on Saturday night. Hope the weather is better for that.

Have a great night, All!

This summer has been super busy for us all! And can't believe it is nearing an end! emoticon Tom has his teachers back this week and next the kids come back. We spent a long weekend down at the shore W-M, almost felt like we were retired!HaHa Anyway had a great time finally got my new range hooked up and like it better than mine here. Took the boat out and caught a mess of fish. Also did another Artful Flea and did really well. I took some of mom's paintings down and sold a bunch. She and Dad would have been delighted! Then one of the CCA people came up to me and asked if I'd show and sell her paintings at their next Coffeehouse, no hesitation on my part! Got my foot in the door down there and they want me to exhibit my glass work and jewelry in the future. Think I'm starting a new chapter and it's exciting.

Mary Anne, yuck cleaning, go out had have some Mary Anne Fun!!! You have been a super daughter and I know how much time it takes. So cool your mom has been communicating with you!!! Has to be the best! It's a shame, I got rid of my mom's scooters, your dad could have been scooting around with you. But glad to hear they are doing well! I know it was the move, what a great decision you made! I know that Poly girl is a mommys girl and is right by your side! My poor girl, us being away so much this summer has been hard on her. I think her eye sight is starting to fail her and she is having trouble jumping up on some of the furniture. Oh so sad. Our first cat I didn't see it coming. I just hope I don't have to put her down.

Dorothy, emoticon emoticon what is up with all this rain on Tuesday's??? My tomatoes are taking forever to get ripe, thinking it's not hot enough this summer last way too much rain and my peppers aren't doing much either. Have some hot ones, but nothing like other years. Cool on the picking of blueberries, that has to put a big emoticon on your face!

Barb, oh I hate when I lose a long post or any post! How's the truck coming along? When's your yard sale? I'll tell Tom! So glad the lady loved your birdhouse, it was adorable!!! Make more and bet you sell them! I know I couldn't keep them on the shelf!

Daizy, where are you? Picking a mess of fresh produce and freezing it??? Or maybe enjoying the last few weekends at your camp. Well hope you are enjoying!

Hi to everyone I may have missed. Catch a great evening.

I'm actually going to stay home today and clean house. Seems that has been hit or miss lately.

Sorry about your golf game, Dorothy but we really do need the rain here.

MaryAnne - sounds like a beautiful park - glad you and your mom were able to enjoy it. Hope they can fine out what is causing your dads problems soon - must be so frustrating for him. But glad theya re adjusting and that you are getting a life back again. Poly sounds like such a cutie - enjoying being outside with you.

Barb - hate it when I loose posts. My tomatoes and peppers are not doing much - we have had a pretty cool summer. My cucmbers, zuchinni and squash are all doing great though! My tomatoe bushes are loaded - just not turning red.

Busy busy weekend. Took Friday off to help hubby up to camp and to pick some blueberries. SAturday went to the farmers market, got some gardening done and then off to a wedding. And yesterday cooked lunch for my DD and her boyfreiend plus Michael and Mike. Also got the lawn mowed. Dragging today. Suppose to rain tomorrow and probabably no golf - again!

Hope you've all been having a great weekend. Barb, did you get to enjoy this great weather?
We're going to have one more day before the rain comes in. Not going to complain if we get some since the grass is starting to go crunch. lol

Another beautiful day with a cool night. Didn't realize there's a park right near my parents facility. Dad's knees are too bad to walk around much but I try to take mom out. There is a connecting walkway to the park and it's paved walking paths. Mom was trying so hard to tell me things during our walk and just chatted away. It was mostly non-words but beautiful. Can't believe how much she loved the paths. We saw the dog walks and the play ground for the kids full of families having picnics. I want to try to take her back tomorrow if it's not too hot.

emoticon to everyone!!!

Jumping in to play a little "catch up"!!!!

Barb, had to go to your page and see the birdhouse. Love what DH did.

Dorothy, sorry to read about your daughter's father in law but glad you could be there for them.
I'm not sure I'm ready for this cooler weather. It's been feeling almost like September. I like the cool nights but would like it a little warmer during the day.....without humidity. lol Also, we could actually use some of that rain.

Daizy, I use to can the tomatoes but freeze all the other veggies. I always blanched them first and started doing it in the microwave. Use to get packages ready for stir fry...yum!

Karen, don't think my Daisy has ever been out. She never tries to go out the door and my son has held her and taken her out to the decks and she really doesn't seem to like it. As for PolyDactyl, she loves to be outside with me. Even when I get home late from being with mom and dad, I take her out. She likes to go outside the pool area for a little then we go in the pool area and she watches the birds. If we stay out late enough, we get to watch the little bats. Tonight, we were on the back deck until dark.

Mom and dad are doing well, especially mom. Dad has gotten better and we're still going to the doctor's and having more tests. I think we had the last one the other day. Monday we go back for results from the ears, nose and throat doc then next week it's back to the cardiologist. Next month back to the neurologist with all of these results. So far the meds the neurologist gave him have improved his headaches tremendously. He's only had one bad one since and it wasn't as bad as before. New they're all working on the dizziness. I'm starting to feel like I'm getting a life back but we still have a ways to go.

Glad to "see" everyone and hope to try and get back sooner this time. Have a great Friday and awesome weekend. Sounds like the weather will be great!!!

Dorothy, I envy you your pedi! Must be relaxing. I have to get a hair cut tomorrow and that is about all I will do at the shop.

DH got the truck running that is his new project. It still needs a lot of work before it is road worthy or can be inspected. Still have repair work for our Blazer, too. So much to do!

Going to try to have a yard sale soon. DH has quite a few things he is wanting to sell and I am going through books, videos, and a few clothes. I wasn't going to do this until he said he is putting some of the bigger items in the yard for sale then I thought I may as well put a few
small things out. We'll see . . .

Thanks for the comments on the birdhouse. When the lady picked it up, she was very pleased. She is sending it to her SIL in Arizona. He collects outhouses, I think.

Our one lonely heirloom tomato plant produced a small split tomato so far. What a disappointment!

Hello to Karen -- hope you do well with your jewelry for the rest of the summer.
Mary Anne -- Hope your parents are doing great!
Daizy -- You must be keeping busy and having a great summer.
Hello to all to write on this forum. Have a great day!

Barb - we had lots of rain over the weekend as well but managed to get a garden planted at DD's despite the rain - lol!

Mowed the neigbors lawn last name and puttered in my gardens - watering and weeding. Also got my van washed and vacuumed. Suppose to golf today but there is 80% chance of rain! emoticon

Greetings! WOW! What a water filled weekend! That raining all night long is really something. We weren't flooded here, thank the Lord!

On Sat we went looking for a part for DH new project -- an old truck! It is not running, but he is still hopeful. We finished the 'toilet birdhouse' and I uploaded a pic of it today and a pic of my DH and two of the grandchildren at Duman's Lake.

DD and family in for lunch yesterday and they were here all afternoon. We watched two videos with the kids while DH and SIL puttered around outside. They put up a canopy in the yard at my DH's favorite sitting spot -- by the oak tree.

Want to do some baking, washing, sorting today and start a new plan of eating and exercise. My self challenge for the week.

Have a great week, All!

emoticon It's been awhile again since I have posted. Having trouble getting in my 3 blogs a week also. Think I will make it this week, though.

Digestion has been off this week and energy has been flagging.
April taking weather well and her bushy tail keeps wagging.
DH has two new projects to work on, and, well . . .
Getting to the birdhouse, when? Only time will tell.

DD and I and girls are going to do some weekly shopping
Sales are going on in town, prices have been dropping.
Looking to the weekend for a time of rest and pleasure
Time spent with loved ones dear is such an awesome treasure!

* * * * *
On another note, I have actually even frozen tomatoes. Can use for salads, soups, and sauces after that. Have some peppers to prepare to freeze. One large Zuke to eat now and waiting to get some cucumbers from brother to do some refrigerator pickles.

Have a safe trip Dorothy! Take time for yourself, too.
Have a great weekend, All!

Karen - August 1 and our summer is flying by. These cooler temps are not doing my tomatoes and peppers any good but it has been great sleeping wether! I bet the beach is perfect in the fall and probably not to many visitors.

Off to Buffalo tday for my daghters father in laws memorial service. Going to spend the night and work on her gardens tomorrow.

emoticon everyone,

Dorothy, yes, for sure on the end of July!!! We've also had 50s in the morn, however today was a bit warmer and I did turn on the Ac again. Yum on the cobbler and BB bread! Love what the summer months bring us as far as fruits and veggies! Glad you emoticon as for putting, I can't help you in that area! I'm lucky if I can hit the golf ball emoticon

Daizy, freezing is the best in my mind! However canning sure saves freezer room, not sure it's my favorite! So do you continue to visit your camp and boat during the fall months? I know my hubs and I love the beach Sept - the beginning of Nov! Out fav time down there!!!

We were busy replacing the wood on our shed. Also painting the picnic table and my bench. I tried that rescue stuff by Olympic, and hope it holds up for years. Off to hit the pillow emoticon Hope you ALL have a restful evening!!!

Daizy - unfortanately we have had a rainy and cold week. Luckily yesterday was not too bad and we were able to golf - it was the best part of the day. Freezing is a good way to go with the veggies!!
Karen - it has been in the 50's here the last three mornings and does not get up much above 70 - hard to beleive it is July. I do freeze quite a bit of the berries/ So far I have mad a cobbler and bread and added them to my yogurt - yum! I use to can tomatoes as well and I am with you - alwasy so hot when trying to can and I do not feed as many people any more.

Had a decent golf game last night - just wish my putting would have been better!

Karen - this is my first year trying my own veggies, so I am thinking freezing is probably the way I'll go. I did buy a book from the Amish on canning, but I am not sure I am confident enough to start with that :)

Dorthy - you are so lucky not to have rain this week! It has rained since Saturday, and I think today is the only day that it isn't supposed to rain. At least I will get my walk today :)

Have a great day all!

emoticon everyone,

Dorothy, emoticon for a good golf night!!! So what goodies have you been making with your blueberries? Do you freeze any? I got to freeze a couple quarts for smoothies this winter. We had a front push through and woke to 50s this morn and low humidity. I have all the windows open and my hands are cold! But I'm not complaining. Not much rain.

Daizy, looks like you will be busy canning all those tomatoes. Mine are just starting to ripen. I don't plant enough to can any more, just too much work and it is usually way too hot to stand over that boiling water. But do miss enjoying my sauce during the winter months! I do have plenty of cukes and zukes. I think I may try a zuke relish this year. Today I am going to spiralize some cucumbers and make a greek salad. Nice on the bathroom! Both ours need a new coat.

emoticon emoticon emoticon to everyone!!! Hope you all have a wonderful healthy day! Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Daizy - nothing better then a fresh clean bathroom. Layaway is a good way to do things! WE have been lucky here - hardly rained at all over the weekend - yesterday was rainy but today looks good.

golf night for me!

Good Morning Everyone!!

I have tomatoes by the dozen coming out of my garden!! 73, at last count :) Also, apparently I need to be a little better about reading the labels on plants I buy...2 zucchini squash, one zucchini, when I wanted 3 zucchini lol. oh well, they are all going on the grill anyway :)

Finally got the bathroom completely painted!! Will be picking up my layaway of new towels from Kmart today to finish it off, YAY! I don't think I could live without layaway lol school clothes, christmas presents, new things for the house, etc. It makes life so much easier and I don't have to use a credit card.

Anyway, everyone have a great day!!! Hopefully the rain stops here :)

Karen - totaly agree - too many people adopt pets with know idea at the costs and don't proparly care for they pets. Did make it to camp and picked the first of many blueberries. And the baking and eating has begun.

Had some thunderstorms last night - my dog was not impressed. But it was nice to get some rain so I won't ahve to water tonight - lol!

Had fun at my grandsons birthday party yesterday - so cute. Going back to Buffalo on Friday for my daughters father-in-laws memorial service. We will probably work on her gardens this weekend as well.

Had a great day out on the boat, caught plenty of croaker, lots of fun!!

Dorothy, 48 degrees, that has to be the best! Would love having my windows open in July! It's creepy, my neighbors down here have had their windows open every weekend in July. Hate to think about the fall and winter ahead of us! Hope you get to camp, and pick plenty of BB's!!!!!

Mary Anne, I so remember when I first placed Mom, I had no time for anything. But I know things will fall right into place for you! Thought maybe you got Daisey out doors with you and Poly. But know our Girl really likes being inside, it's safe. It just bothers me when people don't care for their animals. We have a neighbor down here that keeps her dog in a cage while she is gone. Hurts me to see that dog when it gets out! I think if you want to have an animal as a pet, you need to care for it properly and love it! Otherwise skip trying to be a pet owner! I've probably said way too much.....

Looking for A super day tomorrow!!! Wishing you all a great weekend! emoticon

Maryanne - I woke up to 48 degrees this mporning. This is the second time this month that it has been under 50 in the mornings - crazy for July. But it is nice to have cool evening although the plants prefer the warm nights. That is why I finally got mulch for the back gardens becasue the weeds were out of control - I would no sooner get done weeding and would have to start all over again. And that is why I have been using newpaper and grass clippings in my veggie garden - the weeds are crazy. I still need mulch out front but only have 2 gardens so easier to control. Sure hope you all have a good time at the event today. So very sad when people do not take care of there pets. emoticon Nice that you give the shelties some attention. Is it the same neighbor that lets there leaves blow into your yard?

Think I am only going to work 1/2 a day - need to get up to camp and help the hubby with some projects.

Good morning all. Wanted to "jump" in before I'm off and running again. There having an event at mom and dad's residence today and I want to make sure they can both attend.

Daizy, love the story about the baby and the pup. How cute is that. You should get it on video. Don't you wish you knew what they were both thinking!!!

Barb, I get the little mice in the house every once in a while partly because of all the bird feeders but I've never had a snake. I see many of them in the yard and they don't bother me but don't know if I'd feel the same if one was in the house. How is the birdhouse coming? What a cute idea.

Karen, the newspaper also works great for weeds and it will decompose. Sometimes, I would put it down with grass clippings on top of it. I still tinker with the piano sometimes. I wish I had kept it up more. Still haven't got my mulch and the weeds are killing me. I hate to do it this late in the season but feel that if I don't, I'll really pay the price next summer.
Daisy is really an indoor kitty and I don't think she's ever been out. She doesn't even try to go out the doors. PolyDactyl usually comes out with me but I have to watch extra close now. There's a little sheltie that comes to visit and now she loves to bring her pups to see me. She would be fine with Poly but not so sure about the pups since they are so active. If I'm in the pool area, they come to the gates and "call". I just love the sheltie and wish the owners took better care of their animals.....use to keep them in cages all the time and now just let them run. I really think she comes to see me for attention.

Dorothy, sounds like you have a great crop of blueberries. I've been picking them also...at the store. lol I was hoping to get some of my wild raspberries but the birds are beating me to them. The woods are just full of the bushes this year.

Better get going. Have a great day and sure am glad the storms have passed for now and the humidity is supposed to be down. I'm not going to complain since I still have visions of this past winter!!!!!

Daizy - where do you live?? I am an hour from Erie - near Chataqua Lake or the Kinzu Dam. I think we camped at Pymatuning wehn I was young. Hope you get to get your vacation. Got my golf game in but it was a hot one - Isweated buckets and the bugs were nasty - but still nice to be out and golf.

Karen - I use to tinker with the piano - I know the main notes - thats about it. Never had lessons. I am getting a zuchinni, I have picked three cucumbers and I have a lot of summer squash - I will have to post a picture of one - one grew on top of another and they fused together.

BArb - sounds like you have lots of projects going to keep you busy as always.

Suppose to get some rain today and then cooler temps tomorrow and Friday.

Good Morning Ladies,

4.5 weeks until my kids go back to school. I feel like summer is already on the way out and we aren't even in Aug yet :) I guess school shopping will do that to you.

Karen- we have our boat in Pymatuning Lake near Erie. It is nice and quiet and only a few miles from our camp. Its far enough away from home that it's a "vacation" but no so far that we couldn't get back if we had to :)

Dorothy - Golf again! YAY! So jealous!! Maybe I will get to try it out in a few weeks. BF and I are having his mom watch the kids for a week in Aug. Since their dad backed out on getting them at all this summer, we have to plan some adult time :) I will definitely be trying to get us to a driving range!

Trying to save money for a smartphone. I decided to go "basic" to save some money for awhile, and now I realize that was a mistake :) However, in order to get a smartphone, I now have to buy for full price. Would love to have it to video the "babies". They crack me up!!

Have a great day all!

emoticon everyone,

Barb, a warm one here, too! Did you catch that snake in your house? emoticon emoticon eeeewwww, I hate snakes! But they do keep the rodent population down! I made glass birdhouses years back, just for decorative purposes and remember my out house one sold first! Do post a pic when done, I know it will be a cute one!

Dorothy, emoticon on the golfing tonight!!! Enjoy! I'm jealous your birds leave your BBs alone! Mine are completely cleaned off. I really need to get them fenced in next year. I remember picking into August. My zukes are growing way to fast, plan on using my spiralizer tonight and make a spaghetti like meal for dinner.

Daizy, where do you put your boat in? Lake or ocean? We've been spendinglots of time at the beach this summer. Took our boat out last weekend and were catching lots of croaker. Lots of fun. I. too, love spaghetti squash, tried to grow some but couldn't get them to germinate. So will eat on my zukes this summer.

Mary Anne, glad you had a great time with your family. How's your cough? Hope it's gone. Do you still play piano? I had to learn how to play the piano when applying for college. Never did get the hang of it. All that schooling and I never did anything with my BS in music. Haven't touched the flute or violin since I graduated either. How are your kitties doing? Have they been keeping you company while out in your gardens? Have been enjoying your pool?

Have to do some major weeding today! May have to do Dorothy's newspaper trick! The thistle has been horrible, I can't even get rid of it with poison. It's non-stoppable!!! Enjoy this beautiful day. Looks like another cool front will pass by and bring us less humid weather, just in time for the weekend! Catch a great day!!!

emoticon It is a warm day here in PA.

We have some green tomatoes coming on. DH has been working on the Blazer for about three days now -- in his off hours. The door latch went and he is trying to replace it. We had to tie the thing with stretchy cords, so it is out of commission for awhile.

Before the reunion Sunday, I plucked a tiny tick off my arm. It was not burrowed in yet, just looking for a place. Just a tiny dot! Guess the new crop of ticks are coming out now.

Ever since we have had a mouse running around in the house (gone now) we are still putting out a glue trap near the stove in the kitchen just in case another one tries to come in. Low and behold! Yesterday, it caught a snake! He must have been looking for a mouse. What a start that gave me!

Have a client this AM and some crafting and sewing to get to. Have not started the birdhouse yet. Will have to mark it out for DH to cut. Have two different designs I am looking to try to make. May make both and see if I can sell it, too.

Dorothy, hope you do get to golf. Never can tell with this crazy weather!

Daizy, what a cute story about the two 'babies.' You may want to get that on video.

Hello, to Karen, Mary Anne and Kathy. Hope all are doing well.

Pynetree, where have you been?

Good Morning All!

Have been spending a lot of time on the boat and at camp lately. Trying to get our use out of it before Oct 15 when the season closes :) I am so excited because I have 2 spaghetti squash in my garden! I love using those instead of noodles and they can be expensive.

8 month old granddaughter and 4 mo old puppy LOVE each other, but we are keeping them apart with the pack n play lol. Baby would grab and dog would bite and it would be disaster. However they sit and look at each other through the pack n play. Baby laughs and talks to the dog and the dog sits and wags her tail and tries to get in :)

Maryanne - my olfest daughter use to love to be in teh highschool musicals and now her daughter is in a theater group. Love to go watch her perform! And my daughter REbecca use to work in a theater - she loved it! We all love to go the theater.

That is why I use the grass - to keep the moisture in and the weeds out. The weeds have been ridiculous this year so i finally went out and put newspaper down to try and smother out some of them. I should do that today since it is raining out.

Yesterday was a nice day. i watered my gardens and then went and watered my freinds garden - she has been out of town.

Barb - please do post the birdhouse when you get it done. My great Uncle use to make a ton of things out of cans. Wonder what ever happened to all of that stuff?

Going to Sams cl;ub today and then to pick some blueberries. Youngest daughter is coming down tonight with her boyfreind and probably the dogs.

Wow, Dorothy! You have a musical family. My dad could never understand why I would want to lug a tenor sax around when all my friends played things like the clarinet, piccolo and trumpet. He especially liked the piccolo since my girlfriend use to just put it in her pocket! I always use to put grass around my veggies then during the season, I would take the outside tinges of the tiller and till it in. The soil was great. It does a good job of helping to keep the weeds down.

Barb, you will have to post a picture of the outhouse bird house. Can't wait to see that!

Spent the day working in the yard and will be spending it with mom and dad tomorrow. What a great day to be outside.

Karen, Daizy, Kathy and all....have a great weekend. Enjoy this fantastic weather before the humidity comes back emoticon

emoticon Remember me? Just saw that I haven't posted here since last Friday. Things have been hectic!.. See that things are going great for you gals, too.

emoticon Dorothy! You got to golf and get some great veggies, too!

emoticon Karen! Did well with your artsy stuff. Saw some chimes made of aluminum cans today and thought of you. They were quite colorful!

emoticon Kathy!

emoticon Mary Anne. Trying to catch up on all you folks. So glad you had a good time with family! My kids and DGK are all camping this weekend.

DH and I checked out some of the 100 mile yard sale thing today. Got a few buys, but not much and definitely didn't travel the 100 miles. emoticon

He had time off from Wednesday through Friday and things just have not been the same around here.

Got an order for a birdhouse made in the fashion of an old outhouse. Probably will start that next week. Have some shorts to fix for DH, too. Things should get back to normal for us next week.

Have a great Saturday and Sunday, All!

Got the neighbors yard mowed last night - and as a bonus I used her cut grass as a mulch around my veggies. Free weekend this weekend so trying to decide what I want to do - so many projects on my list! Hope everyone has a great one!

Hi all!!! Had a wonderful long weekend with the kids. The have started having a party every other year in one of the parks with a fantastic pavilion. A lot of their friends plus friends and family from MA and around. The party was Saturday and then some of us just crashed together on Sunday. What fun.

Welcome to the group Kathy! Just join right in. I'm originally from ME but raised my family in MA. We moved here almost 19 years ago. I actually live not too far from Karen in Delaware County near the DE border. I've just moved my parents to a facility about 20 minutes away from me since the 12 hour drive to ME had started to take a toll.

Karen, this time it's not allergies but was really weird. Had no systems until I started coughing one night and it was like my lungs were all congested. By the morning, it was up in my head. Stayed like that for about a week then I woke up with a rash. Doc has no idea what was going on. Yes I did play tenor sax in the marching band plus was in a stage band. Also studied piano for 10 years. Glad to hear that you not only had fun but that you were successful also. emoticon That had to be really exciting.

Dorothy, was thinking of you this weekend. Our friends from MA were going to head to wine country when they left Rochester. Wonder if they hit any of the places you visited. Glad you got to play golf. This weather has been so crazy and some of the storms have been wild.

Daizy, didn't realize that your family was with you. Nice that they got to do a little sight seeing! I love to visit Lancaster. It can be like stepping back in time.

So envy all this talk about fresh veggies!!! My daughter planted 6 different blueberry bushes and are they ever producing. The one called the Patriot has some berries as big as grapes and the sweetest thing I have every tasted. Can't believe what they'd already picked and we were out there picking more. Nothing like eating something fresh picked. Enjoy your gardens and think of me while you're eating some of those veggies!!!!

Talking dad for another test tomorrow and then out to eat. Not sure if I'll be on spark or not. Have a great Thursday everyone!!!

Daizy - I picked 2 sumer squash and a cucumber yesterday and havd 2 more summer squash and a nother cucmber to pick. Love it when the gardens start producing. We have a lot of blueberry bushes up to our camp and hubby has planted more - I don't know why - he never picks any. Becasue we have so many they really don't require any special care.

RAined last night after I watered of course and ths morning had to walk in the rain. But it is suppose to clear up by the time I go golfing.

Good Morning All!

Hi Kathy! Welcome! I grew up in Somerset county and live in Fayette, so we are having the same gray weather right now :) I see you have a SPAT...let me know how you like it, as I am thinking of buying one in the next couple weeks :)

MaryAnn- glad you are back on the boards, we missed you!

Karen- We got 3 cukes out of the garden yesterday and it looks like we have about 3 more today. My son counted 51 tomatoes so far...guess we will be canning salsa and vegetable soup :)

Dorothy- you are so lucky! I never win anything at wedding or baby showers :) I would love to walk away with a prize. I love blueberries! Are they something you planted? I would love to have blueberries and strawberries, but wonder about deer and if they require special care.

Was in Lancaster PA last week for a work conference. Family got to visit the Amish village and we went to the HUMONGOUS pet store out there.

Have a great day everyone!!!
