The first couple of weeks were amazing and then poof, back to maybe a pound per week. It's hard to be patient with the process but my clothes feel better and that gives me some hope.

Is Saturday the weigh day for this thread? I usually weigh in on Monday but I was planning to start weighing on Sunday since the new week seems to start over on sunday.

I am new to this whole sparkpeople thing, and infact this is my first post to this group at all... I started with SP a few weeks ago, and just this am, realized that I hit my first goal!!! YES! When I started with SP, I weighed in at about 305.. today? I weighed in at 298.6.. its a small goal, but a big step for me!!!

Wednesday is my weigh in day and I never step on the scale until that day. This week I lost 1 pound but that brings me to 14 pounds since joining Spark people in Sept. This works if you choose to follow the program. Keep a food diary and exercise at least 10 min per day. You are worth it and you can do it. Thanks for all the encouragement.

Hi ArleneMarie64. Not sure if you've weigh-in since this post. However, I wanted to let you know that when you first start weight training, it can be typical to have an initial small weight gain. This is from delayed-onset muscle soreness and your muscles hold on to water weight. I am not a physical trainer/medical professional, though I did see a recent SPARK article by Charlean that speaks to this occurence. Hang it there. emoticon

OK- one week on sparkpeople - met all my marks - tracked all my foods and drank plenty of water. Carbs, fats, proteins all within proper limits. Walked 20 minutes per day (one mile). Tomorrow is my first weigh-in. Does this work? I'll find out tomorrow. My fingers are SO crossed. emoticon

My weigh day is Friday...tomorrow. I know this is my "baseline" but still want it to be decent. Can't seem to get motivated this week. Also, everyone seems to have cool graphs showing weightloss on their post...how do I do this?

Welcome MRSKAUFMAN9713! If there is any piece of advice I can give, it would be a food journal! Seriously, I lost my first 40 pounds without one, but it was VERY HARD. I thought I could just "eyeball" what I was eating and by the end of the day, I could be close, under or way over. More than likely, the latter. I use myfitnesspal app, personally. I was also not a fan of exercise, either. I started off by walking (20 mins a day). Today I LOVE walking and going to the gym. I guess because I know what's it's doing for me!

Good Morning/ Afternoon everyone! This is my 2nd day on spark people and it has soooo much information! I really enjoy looking through everything! Today mark's my 1st week of SP and life style changes. I did cardio, weight training this past week, drank plenty, ate healthy and drank of water. So far, so good.... until I stepped on my scale.... I gained 2 pounds O_o UGH! I am not defeated, nor giving in, I will persevere!

Down 2.4 pounds. Just wanted to say that I found my downfall from before was not keeping a food journal. I was kidding myself believing that I could "eyeball" my caloric intake. I was able to lose some weight that way, but in the end, it started coming right back on. Luckily for me, I got back on track before it ALL came back. A journal keeps you honest (and aware), not to mention you can see your nutritional standings, as well.
