Are we married to the same man? ;) Here's some tips to get started- I found it at the library (although I'm eventually going to go buy it) It will already require some expense to get started-but don't go too exotic with the "health food store" items until you're more familiar with everything. Start with basic recipes that require what you already have and slowly pick the rest up here and there until you have a stock built up. Also, point out how it saves money in other ways- buying less meat and dairy and going out to dinner is surprisingly cheap when you eat vegan. FYI I'm down 2 more pounds already this week, so it's worth every penny as far as I'm concerned!!!!!

alright thank you for this information . I will certainly get in touch with book store . My hubby will kill me but what the heck . He is screaming at me all the time . spend less buy less . I am trying but find it hard to do . he wanted the empty ice box look . he thought it looked clean found out bare is not what he wanted because it meant no food . nothing to eat . like his tummy . I made him see if i dont buy it . its not there to eat when he wants it .

I HAVE to share a discovery I have made that was initiated by sparkpeople- here's my story. I joined the Vegan team too hoping to find out more about the lifestyle and I kept reading about a documentary called "Forks Over Knifes" that convinced a few people to become Vegan. I ordered it from Netflix and it really got me thinking, so I went to the library for the book that included some recipes. It wasn't available, but another book by one of the authors in the film was, so I checked it out instead- it's called 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart by Dr. Neal Barnard. It has been life changing. I never thought I could go Vegan completely, but this book and the info in it has changed my mind. I've always tried Vegan but still included occasional junk food with it (because everything is okay in moderation, right?) but always failed. Turns out I just needed to go completely HEALTHY Vegan to make it work. The book explains all the why's of it, so I'll just fill you in on all the results I've personally experienced. Within 5 days of following this plan I no longer have uncontrollable cravings for junk food! I never feel hungry or deprived because it focuses on keeping your blood sugar steady. I lost 4 pds in a week and my energy is way up. I even notice that my knees are hurting less. In the beginning, I thought it was going to be the most difficult diet/change I've ever tried, but because of all this and the way it works it is BY FAR the easiest. Another bonus- there's no need to count calories- I did a few times anyway with the nutrition tracker and I fall PERFECTLY in range for all the recommendations each day which had never happened before. I'm completely amazed at how I feel and I've never felt more confident about being able to stick with a plan as I do with this one. Run, don't walk to get this book. Hope I "pay it forward" to some one because if it weren't for other Sparkpeople's posts I wouldn't have found this plan myself!
