I have been doing pretty good at making vegetables (including whole grains) my primary food source and depending less an meat, dairy and eggs. I still eat those, but am doing less. Today's challenge for me is to eat healthy at the annual employee barbeque here ate work. Lots of starchy food and meat with dessert at the end. I am going into this with a motivated attitude. Eat and share the meal, but not select many of the foods that I have been working hard to avoid.

Didn't go swimming yesterday. I knew I should have but I just couldn't muster up the energy to go. I feel a little bad about that, especially since I was looking forward to it just the day before and since exercising has been almost non existent for the past week. This week is a trial week for exercise classes and there are two I want to do. One is called soca-size which is aerobic work outs to soca music (45 minutes) and the other is a strengthening workouts (30 minutes).

Call me Sandy. My goals are swimming in a 1 mile open water sea swim, running a 5K race and performing 50 push-ups in 1 minute.

That is an interesting recipe. I'd have to use cheese instead of the sunflower seed paste though, maybe cream cheese or another spreadable cheese.

You're welcome ^_^ and don't worry about the links just because they weren't clickable doesn't mean people didn't just copy and paste them in the address bar.

I unfortunately can't view facebook at work. I'll try and view the link at home.

I ordered a laptop last week and it's finally here \o/. I need to go pick it up at lunch ^_^.

No morning exercise today but I did go walking yesterday evening on the beach, 2 miles. I was tracking or mapping out how much a mile was for swimming. Not ready to swim a mile yet but it's good to know what I'm working towards.

Thank-you ^_^. I ate my entire chickpea salad for lunch yesterday so I'm winging my meatless day today, trying to figure out what to have for lunch and dinner.

Today's morning exercise was: 15 burpees, 21 push-ups, 45 squats, crunches and sit-ups.

This week had barely any exercise emoticon but I've done really good with sticking to the low carb diet.

Have a happy weekend!

Thank-you for sharing the article. That's very interesting, I need to get more disciplined with my morning exercises then o.o.

Did 15 burpees this morning and I had a veggie omelet for breakfast. Today was going to be my meatless day, I had prepared a creamy chickpea salad for lunch but tonight is date night and we are going to an Irish restaurant and I've always wanted to try their Shepard's pie so my meatless day will have to be tomorrow.

The good thing though my chickpea salad is at least 2 servings so I should have leftovers for tomorrow lunch and breakfast is always easy, I just have to figure what to make for dinner.

Wow you have a long day at work o.o

I can start at 9 and work until 5:30 but since I've been coming in early (7) I leave at 4 (technically I could leave at 3:30 but that feels too early to me)

I love sugar too but because it affects my complexion almost instantly it's easier for me to resist it.

I've started working on my carb intake yesterday. I am trying to do no more than 1 meal with a bad carb in it. That's been breakfast so far but I know I'm going to want pasta at some point so I'll have to think of mixing breakfast up. Maybe a veggie omelette nom nom.

I went walking yesterday evening ^_^. This morning's exercise unfortunately did not happen.

Call me Sandy. My goals are swimming in a 1 mile open water sea swim, running a 5K race and performing 50 push-ups in 1 minute.

515 to 530 is my wake up. I get to work at 630 and work till 4pm.

I try to do 10 mins of yoga/stretching in morning. I got 5 mins this morning.
I have about 1700 steps in so far.

I will go to yoga class tonight. I am stopping the spinning just to much for me but will try to increase my yoga and walking during day and eveing. That way I am home more but still getting in mins. I try for about 30 to 45 mins every other day that seems to work best for me.

My weight is still stuck I got from 120 to 123. I erally want it to be 116-118 but I toning up still so that is good. Carbs and suar is my downfall I am really trying to cut back and I think I am improving some but do need to cut it back.

I finally remembered to weigh myself this morning and I've gained two pounds since the last time I remembered to weigh myself (January? maybe?). I'm not surprised considering the way I've been eating lately, dieting has always been my problem especially CARBS. Well despite feeling sad about my weight gain I'm going to use this as the push I need to finally change my eating habits.

I'm not cutting them out completely but like meat I want bad carbs to be a minimal part of my diet.

This morning despite getting up 10 minutes earlier I only got push-ups in for my exercising, I did finish doing laundry and I did get up 10 minutes earlier (I'm trying to move from 5:30 wake ups to 5AM wake ups).

Call me Sandy. My goals are swimming in a 1 mile open water sea swim, running a 5K race and performing 50 push-ups in 1 minute.

I am happy to hear your week has been good overall ^_^. Just keep getting back on track and soon you'll have no problem staying on track.

Yesterday I went swimming - 800 meters - and my arms and legs are sore so the morning exercises were light. I only did burpess (15) and 1-minute pushups (10). I was not pleased with my push-up numbers since it's gone down by half but I think my body needs a break. I wanted to run this afternoon but I think it's best I skip today's run and get in my veggies and water. Maybe, if I have time I can do yoga this evening after dinner.

I have 16 more points to earn before I hit 100 and buy myself something ^_^.

It was a good week thanks!
had my ups and downs with my program, but it now seems that the ups are outweighing the downs, so if I have a slipup, I am better able to get on track again.
Hope to develop your sort of consistency with time
cheers

Thank-you ^_^. I always hesitate before starting but then when I get started I'm fine (as long as I pace myself). This morning I did 12 plust push-ups, squats, and jumping jacks.

I'm hydrating now for a run this afternoon and I'm hoping it will be cloudy.

How was your week? How is everyone else's week?

Saw the video.

The pushup/plank part would be great for your core strength.

I admire your ability to do these.

Thank-you.

No but there can be jumping.

You squat to the floor, kick your legs behind you into a plank position then you bring them upfront again into the squat position and then you jump straight up (or you can just stand up to make it easier). Now you can modify and add a push-up after the plank position part but that's too hard for me so I do push-ups separately.

There are variations to it. I do the one in this video.

I did 10 burpees this morning and my heart was racing afterwards. I want to reach 30 by St. Patrick's Day.

Thank-you ^_^. I did day 30 of AB & Squat this morning (40 sit-ups, 100 crunches, 100 squats) so I've completed that challenge yay :D. I go on to the burpees challenge tomorrow and I am running again this afternoon. The weather is dry, sunny with partly cloudy skies and a feel like temperature of 97F but there is a LIGHT breeze.

I' started a point system on the 17th of February and for every 100 points I get something off my rewards list. I am up to 50 points now ^_^.

I'm thinking of getting a HR monitor does anyone have any good recommendations?

Yesterday I went run/walking :D. 6 intervals of 3 minute run and 2 minute walk (well 5 intervals of walking) so 28 minutes total.

Today was Day 29 of AB & Squat - 30 Sit-Ups, 90 Crunches (so hard ahhh), 95 squats and that was 10 minutes.

Had a breakfast sandwich this morning with my faux (vegan) cheese and egg in a sprouted grain English muffin followed up with a banana, berry and coconut milk smoothie.

Today's weather is sunny but windy with feel like temperatures of 96 eww. Tonight should be a bit cooler at least.

How goes everyone?

Way to go Veronica! Have you checked out the Kick Off Spring Challenge in the Challenges thread? You track and post your fitness minutes for the week from March 1st to the 21st and the person with the most minutes total gets a Spark Goodie ^_^. More details in the thread.

This morning was Day 28 of AB & Squat Challenge (2 days left!). 25 Sit-ups, 80 crunches, 95 squats. All that took about 10 minutes.

Mmm that sounds good. Had sushi last night, I found a new favourite one but probably won't get it all the time as it has delicious bacon in it. Yep sushi with bacon omg.

I asked my boyfriend yesterday to push me to do my exercises in the morning cause I don't tend to do them at his house and he did this morning.

I did sit-ups, squats, crunches and push-ups ^_^. Drinking tea now.

Thanks for sharing, I really like zucchini! I must confess, I added chicken to my quesadilla...it didn't look complete without it.

I had the sprouted grain tortilla, my vegan cheese, my sautéed red yellow, orange bell peppers and sautéed shallots and garlic (which smelled great) and then I added smoked chicken. If I had discovered the avocado in the fridge before I assembled the quesadilla then I would have left it out. Avocado is DELICIOUS darn it. So sad. I'll do better next time.

My weekend was BUSY. So tired. It's strange on the weekend I don't want to be healthy but as soon as Monday rolls around I want fruit or a smoothie for breakfast. It's weird. Anyway despite wanting a ham, egg and cheese croissant with hash browns Saturday morning from BK I stopped at smoothie king instead and got a veggie smoothie and then went to work.

There was then helping my boyfriend's family tidy up the house for visiting family (they had been renovating bathrooms for the past two weeks and there was mess) and then birthday dinner then Sunday was taking the visiting family around. I am back at my home today so it'll be more chill though today is my sister's actual birthday so I don't know if my mom had extra plans besides the Saturday night dinner we had.

I'm supposed to be making quesadillas for dinner. I got dairy-free cheese :D and I'm going to make mines vegetarian I found a few yummy looking recipes at Oh My Veggies I might try one or deviate from one a bit.

Another day of no morning exercises.

I finished Liar by Justine Larbalestier. If you like books with unreliable narrators and/or psychological thrillers than I highly recommend it. I was supposed to be reading along with a book group but um I finished the book. Ah well.

This morning's breakfast was fruit, fruit fruit. Had no time to make smoothies so I grabbed a banana and then I knew I was going to be hungry soon so I stopped at the supermarket and got a bunch of fruit at the salad bar - honeydew, grapes, blueberries, strawberries and pineapple.

If I can stop at the grocery store after work I am going to look for dairy-free and nut-free yoghurt. Cross fingers for me!

I was hoping to go swimming again this Sunday but the current rainy and windy weather is foiling my plans. I wanted to go running too but I left my sneakers at home gaaaah.

Guys I am so proud of myself. I've been going low on the sugar and dairy this week so last night even though we were sitting by the dessert display case at dinner (with evil looking cheesecakes, eclairs and black forest cake) I didn't get a single one. I got unsweetened hot chocolate (cause I was cold) with soy milk.

How is everyone doing? The challenges are approaching. Who's ready?

That's very good to hear ^_^.

Missed yesterday's check-in, it was a holiday so no computer for me as I was home (need to buy a new laptop).

Yesterday I went swimming in the morning (training for a June sea swim race) and then washed my car as it desperately needed it. It still needs a good wash but it doesn't look as terrible as it did before. Then was treated to sushi for dinner nom nom cause I had to wait for my boyfriend for over an hour while he worked. Oh I got reading in as I waited, reading Liar by Justine Larbalestier.

@Richard - How was your program free day? I hope you and your old work colleague had a good time ^_^.

Last night's dinner was Parmesan Crusted Tilapia and we made our own bread crumbs from Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Bread. That was kind of fun lol.

We're going to make croutons with the bread tonight to go on our salads.

Today is a programmed day free from both dieting and exercise. I am going to be entertaining an old work colleague. This does not mean open slather, however & also means that there will be due attention paid to my program for the rest of the week.

@RKOTTEK - That's what we would call a tostada and yep it'd be more messy but still delicious to eat :D.

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was pretty great. I had such a wonderful time.

you could probably top tortillas this way as well, but they would be more messy to eat

Another day and no morning exercises ahhh also my neck hurts so I don't think I slept too well :/.

For last night's dinner I went out on a date and got a marguerita pizza. The place usually makes great pizza but I've made a marguerita pizza that tasted a lot better, their crust was of course way better but I think the tomatoes brought the pizza down, they weren't sweet sadly (needed to be roasted more or a different kind of tomato).

And easy way to make marguerita pizza: pita bread, cherry tomatoes cut in half, basil sliced/chiffonade, sof mozarella cheese torn into pieces/chunks.

top your pita bread with the tomatoes then cheese then basil and stick in the oven for 15 minutes on about 450F (preheat oven). It will be delicious.

No exercises this morning. No time :(. Well...ok honestly if I got up when the first alarm went off I would have had enough time but I was tired.

The good is that I made a green smoothie for breakfast :). Same as yesterday except no pineapple chunks.

Did AB & Squat Day 17 and 1 minute push-ups (up to 13).

I have a green smoothie chilling in the freezer.

They have a few different kinds in the supermarket. I like the vanilla flavoured one from Silk and Almond Breeze but my boyfriend is allergic to nuts so now I get Lactaid and Silk coconut milk (vanilla) to drink or make smoothies with :).

Almond milk doesn't have dairy though it's a plant milk. Its almonds soaked in water that has been blended than strained.

Thanks ^_^. I read if you drink a glass of almond milk should help with heartburn but since you have medication I guess you don't need it.

You're doing great !!

The baking soda was for severe heartburn ( GERD) that I get during the night. But I got some f the meds I needed so no more baking soda. Baking soda has over 1200 mg. sodium per teaspoon, so it's super bad for me since I retain fluid so much, but I had no choice for a few days. Had to use what I had.

Good Morning :).

What was the baking soda for?

I did AB & Squat Challenge* Day 16 and started working on regular push-ups. I can do 11 in 1 minute.

This mornings breakfast was a fruit smoothie - milk, raspberry yogurt, banana and pineapple. I'll be having a banana for a morning snack soon.

Yeah I say don't worry until your proper weigh-in date. So many factors could contribute to your unexpected weight gain and some of those are removed when you weigh in on your proper date and time and if you have gained then you just continue to work on losing it all.

I've been stuck on a plateau for months now and I know what I need to do to get out of it and I've started this year fitness wise but I also need to get more discipline nutrition wise (and that's the hardest part for me).

This morning's breakfast was a home-made orange julius smoothie (made by my boyfriend).

Kind of disappointed in myself. I decided to sneak a peek at my weight today knowing I'm supposed to hold off until tomorrow. And the numbers are really up there from the 1st. I'm up 4 lbs. So I'm not a happy camper, especially when I felt I was doing really well with my eating all week. Tomorrow is the "official" weigh in so we'll see what it shows then. I won't change my ticker until tomorrow.

Oh I definitely feel better after having veggies, even if I don't notice any significant changes physically, mentally I feel good because I know they are good for me. After all the holiday eating I definitely try to improve meals with some greens :D and green smoothies is also an easy way to get your veggies and fruit servings for the day.

We usually have some kind of meat every night for supper but I try to have a meatless lunch 6 out of 7 days. I know the more green veggies I eat, the better off I feel.

Thanks ^_^. Having no meat with breakfast is doing me good because dinner is usually an unknown until dinner time.

Early morning today and a rush so very little done this morning. I made breakfast the night before (baked eggs in a cupcake tin) and those were packed to go and easy to eat in the car. Did day 13 of AB & Squat challenge, had no time to do anything else exercise wise.

So far I've been increasing my veggie in take (including veggies with lunch and dinner) and it's been going good ^_^.

No meat with this morning's breakfast so my goal of 1 meatless meal a day is still going too yay ^_^.

This morning I did day 12 of AB & Squat Challenge along with 10 burpees (wanted to do 15 but didn't make it).

I did something today I wouldn't normally do. I bought a bag of mini pretzels. I'm trying to watch the sodium but every once in awhile I want a crunchy snack that isn't a veggie. So I got the lesser of two evils ( pretzels vs doritos).
