Thanks. I was looking at the Walmart website and I think I found one that is similar with what the SP store was selling. I'll look at the resistance bands too. I had shoulder surgery and the bands will help strengthen my arm. I'll keep you posted. Ruthie

Hi Ruthie,

I know the ball has been out of stock for a long, long time in the SP store. I can tell you the one they sold is by Bell Fitness. I have had my original one for about 4 years and it is still in good shape so I'm very happy with that quality. I am sure you can get it other places. I am not really familiar with other brands so can't give you any first hand advice on them. But, I know several Spark members who have bought their balls at Walmart or Target or Dick's Sporting Goods. Especially with money being tight, you might be able to catch a sale at one of those places.

BTW, they come in various sizes and here is what SP recommends for size ball compared to your height:

55cm 5.0' to 5.5'
65cm 5.6' to 5.11'
75cm 6.0' to 6.3'

Those stores would also have resistance bands. They come in lots of different strengths and lengths so I find them a bit trickier to pick the right one. I can only suggest that you go with something kind of "medium" resistance/strength so it is not too hard for you to pull on.

Let me know if you end up buying them.

Hi Merle, I'm new to the exercise ball and bands. I have no clue what's good or what is a waste of money. Do you have any ideas for me? Money is tight, I was thinking of Walmart. I'm from Mass. I keep looking the kit on Sparkpeople, but it's always out of stock.

Just thought I would mention that I've been incorporating more ball exercises into my strength training routine to keep things mixed up. I know it's important to shake things up periodically so that my body does not get too used to the exercises. Using the ball and some of the Coach Nicole videos / DVD to help with that.

Are you using your exercise ball? What are your favorite exercises with it?
