Nope. Not normal. Make an appt to see your doctor to have it checked out. In the meantime, elevate the leg, ice it if that helps at all, try to stay off it until your doctor gives you the all clear.

Hey ya'll,
I have a new question; on my right leg I have swelling from the knee all the way to my foot. I've had this maybe 2 weeks. Is this normal? What can I do?
Thanks

I don't much like water myself. What works for me is having a 1 liter bottle in front of me all the time at my desk. I aim to drink one in the morning and one in the afternoon at work since I work at a desk.

I also have a Britta pitcher in my workout room and drink constantly as I work out. That helps me get it in during the day.

As for taste, I not a fan of most of the flavored waters. My husband is into them, but not me. I prefer straight water or water with real lemon juice or lime juice.

It's individual discretion, but for me I count anything non-caffeinated towards water, although these days I don't drink anything but tea and water. That said, I'd agree that you can count Crystal Light towards your eight glasses. emoticon

Have you tried adding a slice of lemon or berries to your water? It makes a difference!

I myself am a water snob. There is only a couple of brands of waters I will drink; it is the only way I will drink the stuff! If a restaurant serves only tap water, requesting a lemon wedge makes all the difference in the world. emoticon

I am probably the worst water drinker ever! It's not that I like to drink soda but I just can't stand drinking plain water. If I drink Crystal Light, can that count toward my 8 glasses?

EMTFF376 - Are those compression tights?

MOMSTINCT - There is no stupid question, I promise! To add a profile picture, go to your SparkPage and click on "Edit My SparkPage" (first button on the right side of the page). Then, scroll down until you get past all those boxes on the right where you can input your goals, program, personal info, etc. Right under the box where you write out your persona signature, you should see something like "Profile Image." Click on "change this image" to add the pic.

As for the ticker, while you are in the editable mode on your SparkPage, scroll down to just above Member Comment. There should be a big box labeled "My Weight Loss Ticker." There should be a box you can check to show it, as long as options to customize the ticker.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more help, or you need more instructions :)

Does anyone use CW-X tights to workout in? If so, do you have any trouble with them hurting your knees? I have several pair of long tights for working out in less than perfect weather and it seems that when I use the CW-X pair, my knees hurt.

Thanks in advance!
J

Thank you Kitty. I believe you answered another question of mine on the HIIT Training that I was doing with a great article. I've been using it this week as this is my 3rd day. I go to see a Trainer tomorrow that comes with joining the gym. Hopefully he'll have some tips as well. You have been very helpful and I look at your site and it inspires me. Once again, thank you for being so informative!

Well if I want to do the more advanced ones later on, how would I know how many Strength Exercises for each muscle?

Terrific question!!! Here's a fabulous article on that: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness
_a
rticles.asp?id=1050
Basically, if you can do more than about 3 sets of 15 reps comfortably and without any struggle, it's time to move on to a higher weight. When you do move up in amount of weight (10% increase), you know you're using the right amount if you can only do 8-15 reps. This may get confusing at first, but after a few sessions, you'll get to know how much you lift with your biceps, shoulders, legs, etc. Some exercises that don't use weight may have special instructions on how many to do (i.e. plank), so click on the DEMO icon (to the left of the exercise) to see.

Would it pick for me a program just like it does now with the Core Workout?

I do workouts outside of the ones that SP suggests, so I don't know if they change the program or not, although I do know that there is a button right on there that can get you a new program if you wanted (always a good to switch up your program every 4-6 weeks). I suspect though that after awhile, you'll get a good sense of what type of exercises you're ready to move on to. When that is the case, you can always peruse SP's exercise database: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/ex/all_e
xe
rcises.asp

I'm not sure if this answers your question... emoticon

Hi there :)

I have a question? It's about the Fitness. I see that when I choose what Fitness I'm doing for my Strength Excercises it has a plan for me, and I can keep it or remove it. I can also input my on Strength Excercise.

Well if I want to do the more advanced ones later on, how would I know how many Strength Excercises
for each muscle? Would it pick for me a program just like it does now with the Core Workout? Thanks.

GREENEYES422 - To find and manage your board subscriptions, go on the start page and look for the "my Community" column (it's green). In the third section under "My Message Board Activity," there should be a link that says "Manage My Board Subscriptions." Let me know if that's not what you're looking for.

KMALDRED - GREAT question! First, note the time you start and end your walk. Then, use a mapping utility to map out your route. (SP has one: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness
_m
aps_home.asp
) Divide your total time walked by the distance and wah-la: You have your minute mile pace! Let me know if this isn't what you're looking for?

Quick question - How do I find the message boards I subscribed to? I subscribed to one about Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, and when I searched for it on SP I couldn't find it. Instead, I have to look it up on Google. Is there an easier way to access this on SP? Thank you!

To search for teams, you have a few options...

First, go to Community then SparkTeams. You can either click on interest areas and drill down until you find teams that match your interests and life.

On the SparkTeams page there is also a search function. Enter a key word that matches an area of interest for you and see what's out there.

Every time you check out people's pages, take a look at their teams. You may see teams that match your own interests.
