I read recently that weighing everyday makes you more accountable for your weight loss, so I'm going to try to come up with a pattern I could live with, preferably at the same time each morning before I get my day started. emoticon

I'm once a week or maybe once every two weeks. I can get obsessive on the scale and I'm trying to just get balance in my life and healthier, so I'm hoping the weight drops if I'm more obsessed with exercise than the scale.

Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward.

I was weighing myself everyday, then I switched to once a week. I haven't been on SP for quite a while now (or exercising and eating right for that matter) and I was afraid to weigh myself for the last 3 weeks..uh oh! I gained 5 lbs in 2 months! argg..I am switching back to everyday..it keeps me accountable!

Once in the morning. My friend, a dietitian told me something interesting about weighing yourself. She said that getting enough rest is when you repair your body's cells. So if you are not getting enough sleep this can slow weight loss. This is why you can weigh yourself before bed, wake up and have lost weight.

I am surprised at how many weigh once a day. I am seriously thinking about doing this now, I have a REAL PROBLEM WITH THE SCALE. I get upset with once a week if I see a gain. I am also considering ONLY WAIST measurements weekly.
thanks for the great insights.
I am new at this.

I only weigh in once a month. Period. I just find myself being reliant on the number and losing my focus on my goal to be live a more healthy, happy lifestyle. It just works for me.

Every day, sometimes more often... I know it's a little compulsive, but it works for me. I've reached my first goal and I'm going for my second. It lets me monitor my water retention patterns, besides fat, because I use a scale with calculations built in for BMI, body fat and water pecentage, and more.

I've been home four weeks now. The day after we got home I was down 4 lbs, but I'd already factored some of that into my weight by weighing away. Within a week I'd gained it back and now I'm still trying to get down to the number shown. Maybe this week. I'll weigh on Sunday as I am now going back to my once a month, 1st Sunday of the month routine.

I find that weighing daily is very confusing. Some days you can do everything right - eat properly, exercise, etc and gain and other days (the real danger) you can eat too much, crink too much, not exsercise enough and still loose. I'm working on establishing a reasonable ratio of what I know is correct and then just checking periodically.

I weight every day. That way I can adjust what I need to on a daily basis. If I weight once a week, and am up more than 1 pound I don't want to have to wait another week to see if I've suceeded in the changes I made.

Frustration is one of the reasons I moved to just once a month. It's really awful to be doing the right things and gain which can happen when you weight yourself daily.

I was weighing myself daily for a while but staying the same or losing half a pound was frustrating...had it not been for smaller size clothes fitting all of the sudden, it would have gotten discouraging pretty quickly. I'm looking at every other week or once a month to keep myself in check without becoming obsessive. Plus, I have to have surgery and when I do, I dont' want to get freaked out about my weight....I'm trying to make this a lifestyle change and want to get into good shape before I go under the knife. That's more important to me than clothes or numbers on a scale. HERE'S TO GOOD HEALTH!!!

I use the Wii and do a daily body check, as part of the program and routine I have been doing. It is interesting to see how the weight flucuates, but as for SP I change my weight, if it moves, once a week on the ticker.

Since being on Spark I have weighed myself on my monthly markers for the fact that I am scared to death of the scale. On the 10th of April it's a weigh in day and starting then I will be doing it once a week as I'm hoping it becomes more of an accountability thing.

I weigh myself twice a week. Once on Saturdays and the official weigh in on Tuesday. I really need to stop the Saturday weigh in because if I see a loss, I start to feel that maybe I can bend a litte on the weekend and it will be okay on Tuesday. Instead of bending I usually end up breaking. Nobody told me how tought of a journey this would be.

I have been weighing myself several times because that is one of my motivations. When I don't know I tend to eat more than I should. Just like having money in the bank kinda. If you don't know how much is there you spend more. That's my story and I am sticking to it! (LOL)

I am trying to stick to once a week. It is hard for me though. I want to weigh in every day. But I have also learned that what I do on Monday generally does not show up until Wednesday, etc. so I end up discouraged on the wrong day! You know what I mean- you binge on Monday and weigh on Tuesday and the scale is the same or better. "This is good" I think. Then I am good all day Tuesday, and weigh on Wednesday and gain a pound and a half. My twisted mind thinks "I may as well pig out at this rate". Anyway - I will weigh in once a week, and measure once a month like I used to do at Curves.

For the most part I weigh myself daily. When I was training for a marathon I used to weigh myself before the long runs and after. It was a way of finding out if I drank enough or replenished my carbs enough to keep going. My long runs were 3 to 4 hours and when I didn't take enough water or foods I would loose as much as 3 pounds during that run. Not good.

Right now due to some problems with my knees my runs are pretty short, usually under 5k so I will stick to weighing myself in the am.

However as the weight drops and my knees get better I do plan to again train for another marathon.

I don't keep scales in the house. All my life my weight has fluxuated up and down three or four pounds on any given day. So, to keep myself from getting discouraged I'm only going to weigh myself once a month. Sure, this will mean I wont be completely up to date on how well I'm doing, but this also means I won't be worried about that one pound gain overnight.

I hear the easily discouraged part of teh weigh in. over teh years that I have been losing weight since 2002, I found if I weigh any more than 5 to six weeks I was a basket case and not worth a plug nickle for te next phase. So I and my Dr, worked out an every six weeks and I have less stress and am a happier camper about the whole thing. iknow how discouragement can set you back. In 2002 I weighed in at 545. Today I weigh 327. I still have a ways to go and try to keep a positive attitude and keep daying I am getting there. So we all need to do the weigh -ins that best suit our own needs. Good luck on your weigh ins and try no to get discouraged. Focus on what you have accomplished and know that you are closer to your goal then when you started the whole process

I got weighed at the doctor's yesterday and started Spark today. I want to see my progress, so I went out and bought a scale tonight. I plan to weigh myself once a week, on Saturday mornings. emoticon

I own a wii fit, and you have to take a body test every day, so I weight myself every morning. I lost 6 pounds this week, but have gained 2 back. Im not sure how, but I hope I dont get discouraged and give up...

I have always had a scale but haven't ever used it much. For the most part it has been a sort of warning object. For ten years now I have gone up and down between 155# and 175#. (Once upon a time I weighed much more) I can tell when I am near the high end and eventually I weigh myself to confirm it. My first goal though tends to be that I don't want to feel my belly sprawled out on my lap. It just doesn't feel good. After that? I'd like to see my ankles without leaning forward some day. For now I commit to weighing once a week.

I plan on weighing myself once a week. I think that a 7 day gap in between weigh-ins is a good enough gap to truly get a sense of the progress being made.

I guess I'm the maverick here. I don't even own a scale. Weighing myself actually makes me feel hopeless, but I think I'll buy a scale just to keep track of my progress.

Every morning.

First thing I do when I stop watching what I eat is to stop weighing. Weighing every day keeps me motivated.

I weight myself every morning. I plan to do this forever, otherwise things can get out of control.

I check my weight at least twice a day usually, once in the morning when I know it will be a little lower and once in the evening so I can gauge how well my day went. If the difference is more than 2lbs I know I probably did not lose any weight and might have even gained some. If it's less than the morning weight then I know I did well and probably lost weight. My goal is to have the two weights be the same but that's hard to manage. I only take the weight at the end of the month though to compare it to the previous month to see if I really lost any weight.

I have so much trouble not weighing myself everyday! I have gone so far as to have my husband hide the scale, so that I don't obsess about it. I have been known to get on it multiple times a day when I am really worried. So I will settle for every am for now. I would like to get down to only once a week, but I am still at the baby steps part of changing so many things in my life.

Ok, I know this is probably a little ridiculous, but I plan on getting on the scale every AM. Every time I stop weighing myself I gain weight and then I will avoid the scale because i know it will be bad. One would think that a grown woman of 46 would not do the avoidance thing, but some how I always fall back into the same trap. So since I am back on track again, I will be checking out that scale every day. I will only record my results on Monday mornings, that way I will need to be careful with calories over the weekend. emoticon

2014 Goal 1 - lose 5lbs a month for 3 months -
2014 Goal 2 - log food daily to create a habit
2014 Goal 3 - walk/run 10000 step each day.

I plan on making it a once-per-week thing.

Because of daily fluctuations, water retention, food consumed, etc.. I know that my own personal weight can change by as much as a pound or two throughout the course of the day.

I figure if I stay on a routine and do it once a week at the same time of day, I'll nip the fluctuations in the bud in terms of how it affects my perception of weight loss.

How often does everyone weigh themselves? Or how often do you plan to do so?

I'm thinking I should probably make it a once a week thing but I worry that is too often. I don't know how long it really takes to start seeing results if I stick to my calories and walking.

Cheers to everyone!
