I have struggled with the reward thing too. I love that some people have them posted. I think that would be great to know what I am working for at that day in time. I just haven't put it together.

I am thinking about a tatto at "onderland" I have an idea and would like to do it, just have to decide on the nerve. LOL

Other than that I am thinking of pedicures, massages, etc. Oh, new glasses are a big one, I just don't know where!

I'll have to give this some serious thought and actually write it out. I'll be back. LOL

I haven't planned it all out. I do plan to buy something for myself for every 10 pounds. For the first 10 I got a big scented candle. MMM! I'm coming upon my next 10 pounds. My biggest reward will be looking nice in my wedding dress in June.

Attitude is everything.

I've been thinking about rewards since I joined Spark People. I can't think of any. It's a treat to be able to have time for myself when exercise each day.

My husband offered to buy me an IPOD touch when I lose 20 pounds! :) That's the only reward I have in place so far.

I've spent some time considering planned rewards, but really, every time I lose another pound I'm so excited, it's reward enough for me!

I haven't really thought about it but I'm definitely gonna need a new wardrobe. I have a few things packed away from way back when I was skinny but it's been so long most are likely out of style but who know they may be back in style this time next year...lol.

I've also said I won't run another marathon until I'm less then 200. I've done two already and they took forever. The first was 8 hours the second was just under 7 1/2 hours. My goal is to let the skinny fast runner that's hiding in this cuddly body...lol.

All I can say is it will be so nice to shop for regular sizes.

What a good idea for a topic. The weight loss will be a reward in itself but I need to think about possible rewards and get back to you on that. Everyone has good ideas.

I've seen this on may peoples pages and am going to add some to mine...once I think of them LOL! I'm actually somewhat afraid to put it out there like that. I still have the fears of not being successful and if I fail in the weight loss part I also disappoint myself with the reward part.

Wow that was just really negative...OK those thoughts are gone I'm going to think of some great rewards and look forward to them as well as my weight loss!!!

Check out my SparkPage for the list coming soon!!

Honestly i hadn't thought about rewards for meeting goals...
I know I want a bicycle, an Ipod(touch or product red nano, I haven't decided), and the new Kindle 2

I have lost and regained the same weight several times, and now I have added a lot more. The first reward will be for eating well (within range on calories, fat, protein, and carbs) for a month.
I believe that will merit the bicycle. There are a lot of bike and walking trails around here, and I need to get working out because May 16-June 4 I have a "West Trip" for Spring Minimester. We will be hiking every day and I don't want to be at the back of the pack.

Okay here's how I think it will work...

1. Eating on plan for 1 month = bicycle
2. Riding bicycle 5 days a week (weather permitting) for a month = ipod or solar laptop charger
3. working out 5 days a week for an hour at a time = new clothes for west trip + haircut
4. Being in the front of the pack for the entirely of west trip I'll probably have to note this in a journal while on the trip and then input the information when I get back on the 4th) = Kindle (or Ipod if I choose the solar laptop charger) + splurge on media for the device

I haven't got all my goals figured out yet, but I know the first one is going to be a massage and the last one is going to be a shopping trip with my best friend. Apart from that, I'm not sure. I think there'll be some new perfume in there at the very least...

I'm glad I found this thread. I do want to reward myself and want to work on a list. I'll probably get it up this week. I want to take some time to think about what I want to do.

Great ideas so far! emoticon

Tamzin12-
You scored a bingo for me on your post. I have lost the same pounds so many times over the past twenty years that rewarding myself for losing them just doesn't resonate with me. Rewarding the habit formation that would make keeping them off possible, well, that's perfect!

I want to reward myself with chocolate cake... but that might defeat the purpose. I think I'll get a pedicure instead of exercising one day after I've reached halfway.
To keep myself motivated, I think small rewards for reaching my weekly weight loss might be in order. Not sure what to do yet.

10 lbs - Gym membership
15 lbs - Manicure & pedicure
20 lbs - Highlights
25 lbs - Jewelry from one of my fave sellers on Etsy
35 lbs - New shoes to go with my favorite dress (that at my starting weight I can't fit into anymore)
40 lbs (or so) - Belly button piercing

I really like the rewards idea and sometime next week I'll set up a rewards schedule for myself! One thing that I've always wanted to do, but it's pricey and deserves the "half-way-point" reward, is a hot stone massage. It sounds heavenly!

I haven't quite thought of what I would reward myself with. Probably a new wardrobe when I lose the 30 pounds since I probably won't fit in the clothes I have now. :)

This gets me thinking though, I obviously should have some mini rewards to have something to look forward to during the time it takes to lose the full amount.

Maybe a spa day at the half way mark would be good.

Thanks for starting the thread...I have something to think about for the day.

Thanks for starting this thread. Just this morning I was pondering how to reward myself. I've only gotten so far as to decide that I will focus on rewarding good habits rather than pounds. My first reward will be after I complete 5 days of exercise per week for 3 consecutive weeks. I set this goal because I've been able to do 2 weeks, but never seem to make it to three. I don't know what the reward will be, but I want to make it a good one!

Aside from February I want to lose 10lbs a month. For this month it's only 7lbs because it's a short month and I've started dieting and exercising a week late. As of rewards though I haven't really thought of any. I'm thinking that once I reach my goal I will buy me an ebook reader, Sony's newest model. I want to own one of those before I go on my honeymoon in September so that's even more incentive to lose this weight.

My mom, sister and I are doing our own version of the biggest loser. We've set up little prizes for the monthly winners. I won last month and got my eyebrows done. My mom won December and we bought her a cute pair of socks. I think February's prize is a new purse.

OMG Jay, you have got everything planned. My goodness. This topic just got me thinking and I think Manicure sounds perfectly right to me but I think not before I lose at least 25 lbs. I still have to think about the rewards and I guess i'll wait and see what others have decided to do.

Good topic. I like it.
Thanks

Amber

I haven't set the goals to numbers just yet, but I know that my first reward is going to be a blender. There are some fantastic smoothie recipes out there, and I'm absolutely sure that I'm going to grow tired of Cheerios for breakfast one of these days.

Why not switch it up, make something fun, and get some good fruits and veggies in there right from the start?

I've been wandering around the message boards and noticed that some people have their planned rewards posted in their signatures. Like, get a manicure after 10 pounds, buy new running shoes after 15 pounds lost, etc.

It got me thinking about what I want to do to reward myself and I'm stumped.

Are y'all planning rewards for yourself? If so, what?
