Yeah, it is really hard. I think the actual stats are something like, only 5% of people keep the weight off long-term (over 5 years). So if that is true, SOME of the people in our group must have done it!
In my case, I am also back where I started. Since starting SP, I'd been through some personal tragedies and had a second child. So I'm just now getting back into healthy living. I know I will get there, but yes, it is hard and depressing at times. Day by day, right? If we did it once, we can do it again, and hopefully not make the mistakes that slip us back.

My weight has stayed steady...haven't lost any, and I work to keep from gaining. I'm probably pretty close to the weight I ought to be, given genetics, and I'm very comfortable with my weight. But there's more to SP than helping us succeed at losing weight. I get a lot more exercise now, and I have a much better understanding of nutrition. So, I asked my M.D. and she said that although I'm at the high end of BMI, it would be good to lose a few pounds, but to keep on doing what I'm doing. Another doctor told me the only fat I had was on my stomach, and that's the hardest to lose. Although I haven't lost weight, my stomach has been decreasing in size. So, I'm very, very glad that I joined Spark. It has motivated me to keep at it!
I track my food every day. Tedious and time-consuming, but I can see where my problem areas are...usually portion control. I do a lot of walking. I'm on Spark's 10K steps/day team, and I average 10,000 steps/day. That's a lot of walking, by the way. But because I am serious about this goal, I joined meetups of others who like to walk, and I have met some really great people, and some are friends now. I walk in a group about 4 times/week, 3-6 miles. It is really fun! I just walked a 2-miler with my dog tonight, so it helps to have a dog. You must be very frustrated to have gained the weight back. It is easy for me to gain, but very difficult to lose. I weigh myself frequently so I can be aware of any increases. With the new system Spark has of figuring how many calories are allowed daily, I put on two pounds. I think I will go back to cutting more calories.
I think the answer is to keep on keepin' on!

As I look back on my team that had 16,000 people join Spark the week I did, I wonder how many have actually succeeded on their weight loss journey? The sad reality is that very few actually do. Why is this? I had lost nearly 100lbs and felt amazing in the first 4 months I joined spark....then slowly but surely I gained....now over 3 years later I gained all back and then some....what is the answer? I need to do this, but it is so darn hard.
