There is the link.

Well, it seems this group has drifted off. It happens. Instead of feeling bad for not being active on here, I'm going to delete my SP account and fully commit to Body by Plants. I signed up for a full year. I like it a lot, even though I go in fits and starts, just like I did with SP. :)

Good luck to everyone!

Hello, ghost town!

I finished my Body by Plants bootcamp and lost 5 lbs overall, and that's with NO food tracking and nearly no exercise. I want to keep it up, but start incorporating exercise, too, of course.

I did do a core workout this morning, so that was good.

I hope you are all well! Can't believe it's December! emoticon

Hi, gang! Or am I speaking to myself? :)

I'm on day 19 of the Body By Plants boot camp, and have lost 4 lbs, so that is nice. I still can't get in regular exercise, but at least my eating is better.

Hugs!

Hello, out there!

My 5K in early October went very well, and then I promptly fell off the wagon again. Sigh. So I'm just now getting back on track, yet again. I actually did yoga yesterday and ran today. Yay. And I'm eating better again.

I bit the bullet and signed up for the 30 day Body By Plants Boot Camp. It isn't cheap, and it isn't easy, but I like it a lot and I'm learning a lot.

Hi emoticon

Way to go with keeping up with the 5k training Rachel. I hear you Amy...the weight can come back on too easily. I'm not in maintenance yet but I will get there and then it may likely be 3 to 5 pounds up, 3 to 5 pounds down...I hope to never let myself get so overweight again. One thing I will not do is stress about it...I hear that makes the scale go up. emoticon I watch what I eat and I'm moving more. I also follow the 80/20 rule and allow myself an occasional indulgence without beating myself up. I'm not perfect at this eating right and exercising thing yet but I'm working on it.

Take care and emoticon ,
Diane

Anyone out there?

I'm keeping up with my 5k training. Hard, but getting there. It did make my appetite shoot up, so I gained weight back. I'm reluctantly going back to food tracking!

I did yoga this morning and it felt SO amazing. Gotta keep up with that.

Say hi!

Hey, Amy! Good to see you. Glad you've had some summer with your kids. Good luck with the job search.

I hear you on the yo-yo of weight. I bounced back up a bit, too. So now going back to a VERY LIGHT or no dinner. It works fine for me, since I eat lots throughout the day.

Keeping up with my 5K training and yoga. Feels really good.

Hugs to all! Check in when you can!

Your tenacity and persistence is inspiring, Rachel. Congrats on the weight loss. We all have to find our own paths, so I'm glad you're finding yours...eating vegan and prepping for the 5K. Keep it up. We're cheering for you!

I haven't really started looking for a new job yet. I had 2 weeks to finish up at my old job, one week of vacation, a week recovering from vacation and some contractual work I've had to finish up. I HAVE done some ground work like updating my LinkedIN info and my e-portfolio. I've also been grateful to have the summer to be a mom. My son is a senior in HS this year, and my daughter is 13, going into 8th grade. It's been good to be around home for them. (Not that THEY think much about it. emoticon )

Well, I signed up for a 5K on Oct 5! And I put the "couch to 5k" app on my phone and did my first workout this morning. It feels great to be moving again! It is so helpful to have a goal to work toward.

How's everyone? Have a good weekend!

Thanks! I just weighed myself again and down another 2 lbs. I'm below 150 for the first time in years. so that is nice. I'm sure I'll have to actually start exercising soon, though, to see the numbers continue to fall.

I hope everyone is well. Have a good weekend!

Sorry about the job, Amy! Hope you are doing ok.

I'm doing about 95% vegan. I really like it, and do feel better when I'm following it. I think I did a very short blog about it? I would recommend it to anyone who'd like to try.

Now I feel like I'm getting back on track yet again!

Sure glad there are still a few of us hanging on here. I ended up losing about 7 of the 8-10 I wanted to lose with our Biggest Loser Challenge at work. I just lost my job this past week, so in trying to look on the bright side of things, I'll have more time for Zumba, and I might even be able to sneak in a yoga class or two.

We pretty much skipped spring here in Minnesota. We went straight from flannel sheets to having the AC on. Crazy! I suppose that's one good thing about my exercise of choice being Zumba...it's usually indoors.

Hope all is going well with everyone and that Teanut's move went well. Rachel, did you ever write that blog about the vegan challenge? Are you planning to continue with that, or are you back to eating meat? DDHeart, I hope you're able to enjoy running outside again.

Love the new team photo...it sure is nice to finally see Spring. Way to go on the Vegan Challenge Cornpicker!

I've balanced out my nutrition but my workouts have slipped...I'm going to put my focus there now.

P.S. I'm not perfect and did enjoy a great Easter Dinner...

Hi DD and All, First day of Spring it snowed here...but this weekend looks promising it's going to be above freezing! I've been experimenting and upping my protein intake from 60 to 100ish, eating more balanced I think...I haven't really gotten back into my groove. Working on it. It's interesting what you have to say (DD) about feeling hungrier when your body is getting ready to realize some weight. Looking forward also to getting outside! Have a great week everyone!

Nearly a month since my last check in here and wouldn't you know it, it's STILL winter!! LOL

A few days ago I was out walking and could see enough of the road's shoulder that I started to have visions of running dance in my head....but alas it has snowed and snowed and now it's blowing and the mercury is at the bottom of the thermometer! sigh I've still been doing the elliptical and running on the mini tramp and anything else I can do inside. My hunger has been running wild...think it's a combo of the weather and the fact that my body is on the verge of dropping a tish and it always wants to cling to that wt. Well, to be honest there are those jelly beans which though I have been carefully measuring and tracking....I know the simple carbs are disaster....well, today I finished the ones in the house and the rest are out in the freezer where they will stay!

Seems we're all doind what we can and anxious to be able to do more.

Every day there is a life fight, and every day we respond to that fight. We may not win each battle, but we will win, with great effort, enriched character and gained wisdom, the great battle that constantly challenges us in our daily lives. - Unknown www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9aJtO0VCqw

Hi, Way to go Cornpicker! I couldnít agree more regarding some structure around the foods we choose. The tracking is important for me too, though I had to play catch up for some of Friday and yesterday. Iím slowly moving toward a clean eating lifestyle. Important to me is making sure I do some form of exercise daily. I do Curves three times a week and at least 10 minutes of something else the rest of the times. Iím looking forward to getting out and walking/hiking in the warmer weather. Have a great week everyone!

Hi, all! I am on day 7 of my vegan challenge and it is going really well. It is helpful to have some structure around what foods I can choose. I'm glad I'm doing it.

I've been keeping up with food tracking, too. I sometimes still go above my alotted calories, but I know I've reigned it in a lot compared to pre-tracking. I will keep tweaking. The tracking is SO important for me.

Check in when you can! It is snowy here today! emoticon

Hi Ladies, Tracking food can be difficult at times...approximates are better than nothing. Yesterday I enjoyed a potluck, I was careful but did taste a small bit of most everything...wasn't sure how to record that last night. I'm going to give it a try now. Thanks! Enjoy your Sunday!

OK, ladies, we'll do this together! The Biggest Loser at work has been helpful for me. I still miss a day here and there tracking...sometimes it's just hard to know what to record...like if I eat out...but I've been doing much better than I had been. We can do it!

Sorry haven't come by for quite a while here....let's see, the year of sparkcoach was just under 50.00....when I first started with it, I was doing the plateu busters....went through that whole segment and actually lost some wt. of course I have picked up a little of that again...I am so close to what I'm striving for, my body just doesn't want to go there especially since I have been mostly housebound this winter...I know when/if I can get running out there, I will be able to kick it up a notch but oh well...I have been trying to build muscle and I just don't know if the number on the scale is an accurate reflection either. My clothing size is holding steady so I guess I have to be ok with this. Now, I have been following the motivation program with sparkcoach....and even though it's all the stuff we know so well already...LOL it bears repeating! I need that!

LOL, thanks for the pep talk!

Well, I did yoga yesterday! So that felt great. Then I gorged on Super Bowl junk food. Ugh.

But today I'm tracking food. Baby steps!

How's everyone? February off to a good start? I have a bit of a cold.

Wow, I haven't heard of Sparkcoach. Do tell us more when you get a chance!

That sounds fun and motivating, Amy! Wow, $1000 would be awesome. Keep us posted!

OMG it is February and I still don't have my mojo. UGH. I feel terrible. I logged food for one day and then was like, eh.

MUST GET BACK IN GROOVE.

Donna, I saw the teaser video Sparkcoach, but it didn't say how much it was or how it works...by the month, year, etc. How along have you been using it? Keep us posted.

Yay for us! Look at us all logging! (And I'm not talking fire wood. emoticon ) Way to go, Rachel and Donna! I lost .4 pounds this week, so I went in the right direction. Our team (7 people) lost a little over 12 pounds this week. The winning weakly team gets to keep this huge pound puppy names Miles for the week. They go by percentage of body weight lost. The winning person gets $1000, and the winning team gets $1000 to split among themselves. It goes until May. My friend and I will start teaching Zumba sometime in February once a week to start, with the possibility of adding a second spot sometime.

Donna, I'd like to hear more about your Sparkcoach experience.

And Happy Sparkiversary everyone! Hope you all are reinvigorated and renewed on this 4th anniversary of our life changes.

That's the key ladies! I bought the sparkcoach for the year and am following the plateau busting program and with increased weighing and measuring and tracking and fitness....whew!...I can report I actually have been able to log some loss for two weeks in a row and though it isn't huge, it is a loss and I am happy. I know it's really because I'm putting more into it and that is what it takes to get more out. Let's keep it going!

So Biggest Loser started last Thursday. I've been logging at about 90% accuracy. I think I may have missed a food or two, and I back logged a meal or two. But I'm taking this as progress, and I'm sticking with it.

Hope everyone else has found renewed "Umph" as you need it and/or you're continuing on in this new year as Friday marks the first day of our Sparkiversary Week.

Day 3 of logging food. I logged MOST of it today. I think I got a little side-tracked and/or ran out of time and missed a food item or two. But I'm still counting it as I'm still in "practice mode" until the official weigh in day.

Hope you all are progressing towards your goals!

Day 2 of logging food. The official Biggest Loser kickoff isn't until this Thursday/Friday, when people weigh in. So I'm just getting into the habit of logging food again. If I make my goal calories, great. If not, I'll enjoy my ice cream!

BTW, 240 over upper limit of goal caloric intake...if I were counting it today. Better than yesterday!

Hope you all are finding what you need to do what you need to do.

The big kick-off is tomorrow. Another Zumba instructor and I have been asked to do some Zumba classes during the challenge, so that's fun. I'll let you know more about it after tomorrow.

On another note, I weighed and logged my food today...only 400 calories over goal! emoticon On the bright side, I taught back to back Zumba and Zumba Gold classes today, so I think I may have burned 900-1000 calories extra today. emoticon

OK, folks. The college where I work is starting a Biggest Loser program this Monday, and I signed up. I've got 8-10 pounds that found me again after I lost the 25. I'm hoping that the support of my colleagues will help me actually to this again. I'm planning to come back to SP, because I KNOW this works...WHEN I do it. So, here's to 2013!

That's great, Deanna!

I am doing ok-- not really recommitted yet. It is easier to be in denial and eat what I want rather than log food. I have been avoiding that and need to get real with myself!

Keep us posted!

Happy New Year! Wow, another year already.

I hope everyone's holidays were enjoyable. I'm ready to try again to lose the gut, how about you? :)

I am dreading the step on the scale, but I know I have to start being honest with myself.

Anyone else out there?

Oh, Amy, your post reminded me of a Fitbit which I hear raves about and supposedly it connects with My Fitness Pal. I am buying one for my husband for his birthday. I hope he likes it!

Sending out good thoughts to everyone!

Hi folks! Two days of excitement led into several months of neglect. Boo! On the bright side, I'm down 4-5 pounds since July. I got a health monitor in August, a BodyMedia Fit armband. I wear it 23 hours a day, and it somehow counts steps, calories burned, sleep (vs lying down...it gets a bit funny because it says I'm just lying down sometimes during the night when I'm sleeping, but perhaps it somehow figures out when I'm not sleeping heavily), and if I used the food tracker, it would calculate the calorie overage/underage for the day as well. I'm hoping that the company will somehow somewhen connect with Spark People for things like food tracking at the very least. I don't track enough as it is. I really wouldn't record things twice. When I first talked with the salesman about it (at my Zumba convention in August), he said that there were talks about connecting the two...but I have not idea how much of a certainty that was.

Anyway, I hope everyone is keeping their spirits up and making plans for a successful (in terms of staying strong and healthy) holiday season.

Sorry I haven't been by here for some time but I am still hanging in there and concentrating my efforts on a couple of other teams. So glad to see that the storm didn't cause major problems for you personally it has been more than a challenge for too many. I have actually gotten back down to my pre work trip wt and since we quit the railcar work, I am hoping that I can stay consistent. I still would like to get about 10 more pounds to say good bye!

Hope everyone is ok post-Sandy. Some of the damage is really awful. We're fine but NYC is in bad shape. We'll see.

I think I'm going to wait on the boot camp.

I am thinking of doing this 'vegan boot camp'. I really need a kick start to get my eating under control, and I've always been curious to eat more vegan food.

Got a wake up call this week. Got tripped and work and sprained my right knee. Found out that even though I have been exercising every day, I am OUT OF SHAPE bad. You have to use a different set of muscles when you are injured. My arms and back are weaker than they should be. Going to have to work on these. My left leg got a workout this week.

Hi, DD! I am still slacking but at least checking in today.

I brought my lunch to work today and yesterday, so that is a good step.

I hear you on the desserts. Good for you for seeing the issue and figuring out alternatives.

What other teams do you like? I have not been active on any, but visit this one when I log in to SP.

And congrats on your good race! Who cares how many participated? You did it!

Say hi, team, if you're here!

I'm still here Rachel! but...I have been busier on other teams I admit. I have been struggling...gained wt while working and though I've lost some of it again, I have stagnated. One thing I have recognized though is that I have slipped into some bad habits...desserts started to happen every day (sometimes more than once a day) chocolate has figured more prominently than it should....nothing wrong with chocolate but nothing and I mean nothing should be showing up that often! So, this week, I made a commitment to not have any chocolate or desserts...now, that's not entirely true as I am allowing myself fruit and I whip up a mean soft serve that is frozen fruit, protein powder & either some greek yogurt or crystal light juice to help "loosen it up enough to whiz" These options are actually nutrition so they don't count as desserts which in my definition are things that are very tasty but not helpful in my nutrition. It's only Wed. so I can't say it's made a wt difference yet, but it has made me feel better and I am kicking myself for forgetting how good these things are! LOL DUH

Last weekend ran a 10K and came in 3rd in my age group....before you start cheering, just know that there were only 3 women in the 60-65 age group!! LOL Who cares? I got a trophy, I had fun, and I did the work myself so woo hoo for old age!! LOL
