I don't have any strong feelings either way. In fact, this is one team, that I do feel connected to others.............I like the numbers concept - it's taught me a lot. But as far as a name change........ whatever works for the majority.
Have a GREAT FRIDAY!!!

I am one of the oldest members on the team - time wise. I'm Ok if the name gets changed or not. Like many I'm super busy and most of the emails I get I have to delete or set aside for later. Hoping that I can get a majority of my work done so I can read some or participate in something. I'm just glad you guys are there for me when I do have time.
I understand what Linda and the other leaders are going thru. As a leader of a few of my own teams, it is frustrating keeping a team's interest high. People come and go and teams tend to go stagnant. The leaders need the aid and help of the members to have a successfully active team.
Changing a team name can potentially add new life to a team. Imagine signing onto Spark and seeing a new team name on your team list. You'd be compelled to go see what's happening and be re-introduced to a great team you've inadvertently been inactive on.
"By the Numbers", "Slim City", "Healthier You", they are all good names and still mean we want to lose weight. I'm open to a name change but will also be happy if it's kept the same.
Quit stuffing your face and face your stuff. Be yourself, everyone else is taken. I think therefore I am dangerous. Don't make excuses, make changes.
By the Numbers is what caught my attention to this group, but if the group leaders want to change it, I'm all for it. I wasn't very responsive last week as I was out of state and didn't have access to a computer most of the week. Good to be back; I'm about caught up with e-mails (I think) so as soon as I get my correspondence done for my Pain into Gain group where I am the leader, I will get back to corresponding with my other groups as well.

Here I am - a day late & a dollar short, as usual... lol? I like the name "By the Numbers" ok. I don't care TOO much either way.
I've been MIA recently anyway, due to a very crammed end of semester at school. I've done so much SITTING that I'm almost afraid of developing blood clots like my DH did. (Let's HOPE NOT, ok, but I'm not used to sitting so much!!) I'll try to be more of a participator when I can. At the moment, I'm supposed to be doing a project for school. ahem. So with that, I will bid you ado, (sp?), until later.
Appreciate yall - especially our leaders who are trying to put some thought into what might improve things for others. But vote's need to be taken, because sometimes - this is from experience - what seems like a good idea to me, might not go over as well as we anticipate, right. Again- personal experience. sigh.
Just to add my two sense worth - the name "By the Numbers" is what attracted me to this team because when I am really serious about what I am eating and my exercise I pay attention to the numbers. However it is not just about the calories in vs calories out, but I also focuse on what nutrients are in the food I am eating - there is so much more than just fat, protein and carbohydrates. I even have a food tracking program that will give me a score as to how well I am eating in all the nutrients I have chosen to track.
I have not yet gotten very active with this team, right now my life is sort of hectic, but I am expecting that it will settle now in a couple of weeks. But for what it is worth, I like the name "By the Numbers"
It seems to me that a team's name is designed to reflect the concept and focus of that team. If our name no longer fits or motivates then we need to re-evaluate what our team's focus is, what we want to accomplish and maintain, etc.
My understanding is that this team has been about achieving and maintaining our goals based on knowing where we stand in the numbers game (calories in vs. calories out). Are we planning to stick with that focus? If the name seems too boring we can work on a new one.
Personally "slim city" doesn't do much for me. Perhaps I need to know more about the thinking behind the name. I can always use more motivation so if we can find something that inspires us, let's go for it!
"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." ~ St. Francis of Assisi
I wanted to freshen up the team and a name change felt like a good way to go.
So far with the feedback, there has only been one "Nay" and the reason being "I do not really like "Slim City" - to me it has a eating disorder ring to it; like it focuses on the "slim" result rather than the health part of losing weight. "
Everyone has the right to an opinion. I am thinking to go with the majority either way - and asked this particular member if he/she has a change of wording that would suit better.
I don't like skinny any more than fat - and I prefer not to have any particular weight in mind (no 120-villes - which are already taken anyway). Feel free to suggest. We will definitely go with the majority no matter what name, even if it just stays as by The Numbers.
I am not looking to increase the size of our team - I like a small team - but I wouldn't mind getting more motivation oriented.
I was asked: "I don't have a problem with the name but I think you should have spoken with the team leaders before making the change and announcing it. What was your rationale for changing the name?" My rationale was to try to "un-stagnate" the team. Since the release of The Spark, I personally have noticed that most teams are simply not very active anymore - even huddling is off. Motivation seems to be a biggie on the Introduce Yourself Forum.
I changed the name back - it only takes a moment to do - and will see what the feedback is like.
I never did find out who kept changing the Icon in December - and no, I wasn't asked, but I still liked it and enjoyed seeing what new item would be 'on the scale' from day to day.
