Just got back from Lucy Fest 2011 in Jamestown, NY. After eating out every meal (except while driving the first day) I am buckling down to business.

Joined gym and am trying to get to it three days per week but my schedule is making it hard to do. My FIL is doing okay and his care is difficult but we're doing fine. Since I never know what days my hubby must work I am going to gym three days his off. I'm doing water aerobics in morning and evening so i'm getting 2hours of exercise on the days I can. I'm shooting for 6hours per week; I tried zumba but is too much so it will have to wait.

If you believe you can you will! If you believe you can't you will not!

I'm so sorry to both of you Jayma & Ritarose - for your losses. Both my parents are gone now - I'm a middle age orphan. I know how hard it is to lose loved ones - during the process & for a long time afterward. A grief counselor I heard speak said that we never really stop grieving the loss, the grief just "changes."

I'll be thinking of both of you today. Love & hugs from Texas. Jenn

I mixed up my exercise last week eliminating 2 swim sessions which I love with strength training. This AM I am going to go to swim laps followed by a good workout in the water. My instructor is very challenging! then off to work and after work I hope to visit my dear friend who is dying of cancer. Yesterday she couldn't have any visitors. I just want to see her one more time to say goodbye. Very sad.

Today is always a hard day for me so I am trying to keep busy to make it through. I lost my mom to breast cancer 12 years ago and today is her birthday. Every year I think it will get easier and not be quite so painful but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Hope you are all having a great weekend and surviving the heat! emoticon

Rita - I can relate girl! I got a little too "vigorous" with the step aerobics yesterday. I think my hip is recovering now - ha. I was DYING to burn some calories! Tired of the scale being stuck. But I can certainly tell my strength & stamina have increased!

Joined gym yesterday, attended my first water aerobics class today, was able to keep up the pace and burned 400 calories in 60 minutes I will add Zumba in 2 week and circuit training at 4 weeks. I feel great and know I will sleep soundly tonight. I am finally on a sure path to fitness and there's no looking back now! Oh yeah, My son and daughter-in-law joined gym too!

Good Morning Everyone!

Another hot one here! I'm actually glad to be stuck at work today! At least I'm in the A/C!

I was glad not to have to run this morning....so warm, even at 5AM! Tomorrow morning won't be much better & I'll be out there running at 5:30!

Have a great day!

Thanks for the encouragement! I hate that I approach these big things (weight loss) with baby steps, but for me that is how I have to do it to really accept what needs to be done. Soon I will blog about it and repost my weight to reflect my weight gain so that I can more accurately work my plan. Baby steps! so frustrating!

Hi Lori-Good luck with the 5K program. I think it's great that you are taking the program. I didn't even know they had them.

Rita-Sorry for your loss but glad that you are putting yourself first and putting a plan in place. It's all about making small changes and making them permanent habits.
We can make this work with each other's support.
Today I had a good day. Had a great workout and ate well. I'm ready for tomorrow.

Hello everyone! Glad to see the "What's happening" thread is still alive! Sorry I haven't been around. I just got burnt out with calorie counting so I haven't been logging food or anything. Still trying to be mindful, but just not logging.

I've joined an online training course to run a 5k. We are in Week 5 now. It's hard, but I'm already running more than I ever thought I would or could! So...exercising a lot, but not losing an ounce! Sigh................

Have a great day everyone!

After several months of ignoring the scale and eating emotionally to deal with my mother's death, I've been working very hard at eating wisely and continuing my great workouts. I have only lost 4 of the 30 pounds I put on in the past year which is very disappointing given how diligently I've been working, but I am committed. Today I will mix up my exercise by doing strength training. I detest it, but need to give myself a jump to move that scale. My new plan is to do ST two times a week. emoticon

My DH and I will be out the door at 5AM to walk to the Y, swim some laps and then enjoy our water aerobics class, come home, eat a bit, go visit a friend, off to prayer group then to work. This is a treat as I usually go to work at 9AM, today it will be 12. It's very nice to get to do something special today!

I finished faxing an offer at Midnight. I was up at 8:00 am. because I had to resend some stuff. I also had to finish a listing file last night. I have two closings this week. I need to go through the pictures from the listing and I have a bunch of clients who are panicking. I need to get in my workout today, and then I am going to take a nap as I am exhausted! emoticon

How's everyone doing today? I'm still battling this "grunge". Feel awful this morning. Been up since 1AM sitting in my recliner cause I couldn't stop coughing. Just when I think I'm getting better, I have a set back.

Red Hat picnic tonight......hope I can stay awake!

Feeling a bit better today & I made it thru the work day. I enjoyed playing golf yesterday and actually felt better than I do today. I guess I can expect this thing to hang on for a couple weeks. :-(

I'm playing in another golf tournament this Friday & then early Saturday morning, I'm going with 10 other "girls" to a cabin for the weekend. We're going to go horseback riding & just relax and have fun. Should be interesting!

So sorry you're all feeling awful. summer colds and sinus infections are horrible. I'm doing okay. Went to bed at 9:45 last night and didn't wake up until 12:14 starving! Had a bowl of oatmeal with goodies in it.

Wow sounds like the same thing me and my family just got rid of bout 2 weeks ago! It lasted nearly 3weeks between 4people. Hope you get to feelin better! The best thing that worked for us was trying to sleep it off and allot of nyquil and sore throat spray.

Guess there's some "crud" going around! I'm still battling this sinus/cold/coughing thing. Last night I was pretty sure I had bronchitis, but not coughing so much today so far. The worst is at night when I'm trying to sleep! At one point last evening, my voice was almost totally gone!

I made it thru the golf tournament on Friday, but I can't say I had fun. I played horribly & didn't feel well at all. I'm playing just for fun today. I'm planning on walking and pushing my clubs......not sure that's a wise decision. I feel pretty weak.

Back to work tomorrow. I know I'll have a mess to deal with after being off for a couple days. My boss called me on Thursday and was trying to do some of my work....and making a mess of it! I'll be doing "clean-up" tomorrow!

Have a great week everyone!

It took me forever to fall asleep last night ... my body and heart was fighting it.

Woke up at 6:30 & jumped on the scale (yes I weigh daily and yes I know it fluctuates -- or may eventually). I've been stuck at the same weight for the last 3 days .. so I've been looking forward to nudging it a bit lower and hit that mark. :o)

I'm going to let the little one sleep a little longer this morning, then wake her up and go for our usual walk/bike through the park. Healthy Habits are a great thing.....and doing them before the heat and humidity of the day hit are even better. :o)

Proud of myself ... I stuck to my plan. I did turn to chocolate a little bit, but 10 m&m's is better than the whole bag. And I even got in an 85 min walk at the zoo yesterday after dropping everyone off at the airport. I thought a change in walking locations may give me a boost and keep things changed up a bit ... wasn't able to walk at my usual pace though b/c of the starting/stopping action ... but even when Caitlin stopped to look at animals I was walking in place or doing some of Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds moves while I was standing still. Overall glad that I was still moving in a postive direction.

Nothing special today. stayed within tracking parameters, walked a little, tried to stay toasty. Still waiting for really hot weather and hoping July 4th will be hot. Weather's been unusually mild for this part of the woods. Getting a mani tomorrow.

Today (like most Saturdays) is about errands and chores. Of course, I ran out of time and will end up decorating the birthday cake tomorrow morning before we leave for the party. Hopefully it won't take too long.

I decided to take the kids to a movie ... pre-packaged some nuts in ziploc bags to snack on instead of the movie theater popcorn.

Ironically the children who usually bug me for popcorn, barely touched their peanuts and said that they weren't really hungry.

I think most of the movie theater popcorn craze is just what you are conditioned to do. It's certainly not for the taste. The last few times that I splurged on popcorn (before rededicating myself to a healthier lifestyle) the popcorn tasted bland after the first layer that caught all of the seasoning.

Now, I'll just watch the movie without snacks -- or with healthier options that I bring in with me.

Hope you're all enjoying your long weekend! I spent Saturday on the golf course, yesterday was for "domestic duties" & today it's back to the golf course for a tournament. I'm looking forward to a fun day.

Make it a good day!

Sorry I've been MIA lately. Since I'm not logging my food, I don't spend as much time here. Not sure how the non-diet approach is going to pan out, but I have to give it a go.

Walked 9 holes of golf last night and tonight I went out for 2 mile walk/run. First rain free, sunny day we've had in awhile......took advantage of it!

Hope all is well!

I got a little off-track this weekend, because of visiting family and the surrounding celebrations. I didn't track numbers or pay much attention to what I ate. However, I had been good earlier in the week, so I still lost almost a pound for the week.

This week it's back on track for me. I want to lose a WHOLE pound, for heaven's sake. And that will put me under 150 for the first time in ages. So, it's a big deal this week and I'm going to be vigilant about the numbers.

This morning I'm treating myself to spa treatment with home made facial and whole body scrubs and moisturizers. After those treatment I finish with a tubby with aromatherapy oils and herbs all the while enjoying soothing music and scented candles. Oh yes, I will enjoy a glass of red wine while in the bath tub. This is a treat for pushing past a plateau I've been in since the end of April.

Hope you are all having a great week!! I'm chugging along till Friday when I break outta here for a few days! I'm going to spend a long weekend with my sister and I'm really looking forward to it. She lives about 2 hrs from me. I'm taking a Chi Running clinic on Saturday that is being held only 10 minutes from my sister's house! Then the rest of the time will be spent just hanging out. Sticking to my "intuitive eating" plan will be a challenge as my sister loves to snack and has already told me that she's buying all kinds of yummy treats......sigh........... Oh well....life happens!!

Today The SPARK book arrived in the mail! Have already started reading it, OMG it's great. Will keep on display as a daily reminder for extra motivation. I didn't get the 500 pts., don't know why.

On the down side I drank a Hansen's Natural Cola, didn't have running water for two days and ran out of bottled H2O. Hot water heater went out and had a tankless water heater installed; it's supposed to reduce gas bill by 40% plus i get 10% tax credit at tax time.

Another rainy day here. Supposed to play 9 holes of golf after work, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Made it to Zumba last night......it was a blast! I don't know why I didn't go for a couple months, I really enjoy it!

I'm doing well with my "no dieting" approach. I only eat when my body tells me it's hungry & when I make something to eat, I look at the size of the portion and picture it fitting in my stomach(which empty is about the size of your fist). I try to eat a portion that is approx that size. I use that method for meals, but snacks are much smaller. So far, so good! I still find myself thinking......I wonder how many calories that is......then I remember......it doesn't matter!

Have a great day everyone!

Lori

Didn't walk today. Had rain and thunder. Don't mind the rain but don't care thunder Water heater is busted so couldn't do much. Do any of you now anything about tankless water heaters. We are thinking of installing one as a replacement but don't know how well they work.

Hoping to get out & walk in the moderate temps & sunshine today - maybe do some yard work. Definitely am going to get this week started off better than last week. I don't regret Mother's day, but it sure completely WRECKED my entire week's calorie numbers. Good Grief!!! My numbers for that day say I layed in bed & received IV Mexican food all day! hahahaha ahem. Ok - better this week.

This weekend, I'm also commemorating the one year anniversary of when I lost my Dad. He died on May 16 last year, on the Sunday. So I'll be spending time thinking about him. I wish the cemetery wasn't 325 miles away - I can't even go there. I'd like to go to the little residential care home where he lived last & passed away, & visit there, but I'm not sure it will be possible.

Jenn
