I have had people i know who have done that. They don't want to be hungry and they can't believed doing it the way I am doing it will be benifical. I am so proving them wrong. I almost have my mom on here she is seeing how it is working and helping me. I so hope she does it. Show your friend some more on the site it changed me.

Molly, I can sympathize, but there really is nothing you can do to persuade your friend.

It is difficult to sit back and watch loved ones risking their health but I have learned that most have to learn the hard way.

I recently went through this with a dear friend and the Atkins diet - all that protein can hurt your kidneys and I was scared for her. Long story short, she lost a lot - got bored - and gained it all back plus a few.

She was always so afraid of being hungry on a diet. I spent months telling her what I eat daily and now she is counting calories and was thrilled to drop 4 lbs already and the week isn't even over!

About all you can do is keep nudging her in the right direction and hope and pray for her to listen.

I have actually spoken with her about it. I'm not sure how much good it did, but a couple of my friends and I told her how dangerous and unhealthy things like that could be. I just hope it helped!

Molly - Have you talked with her about this. She is just going to keep doing this over and over again. She will tear up her insides. Im not sure what pill she is taking but some of them are hazardous to your health now. You might check it out for her.

Show her a few blogs by some on here. Maybe just maybe she will think about what shes doing to her self.

My biggest challenge this time will be keeping it off permanently this time. That is the reason that I am so passionate about this. I will do it right this time so hopefully when I get to where I want to be then all I have to do is continue to eat right and excersize and NOT gain it back

I agree... there's no way you can live your whole life on 1000 calories a day. A friend of mine has been doing 600-800 lately. And she's taking that fat suppressant pill. Why?? She did the same thing last year. Did it for about 2 months and lost probably 20 pounds. Now she's doing it again because she gained it all back and then some. Why put yourself through that? It's not safe, it's not healthy, and it sure isn't fun!

*Sigh* Ok sorry, I'm getting off of my soap box now. lol

I have decided that this needed to be seen. It was my blog for today but It needed to be in the threads also. I hope that you dont mind it being on the threads.

Ok Im sorry.

I have been on this site for 2 years. I have been told over and over NOT and I mean NOT to go below 1200 calories a day.

I have seen so many blogs and statements on threads about people being happy about staying below 1200 calories. Even going so far as to say they will only strive to eat 1000 calories a day permanently to lose weight.

Its not safe!!! Just do a search online or here on Sparkpeople and you will get the exact reasons!

I understand some of these people are new but there are some that have been here forever and think that 1000 calories is going to be enough to survive.

Everyone is going to do what they want no matter what We tell them or Sparkpeople tell them.

For the new members who are here and reading this. Start out slow. you cannot expect the weight to fall off with out it being slow. Or heck even dropping a bunch of weight in the beginning and then stopping all the sudden and not losing anything for a week or so. You WILL have slow weeks where you lose nothing. I did it for a year.

YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR NEW LIFESTYLE NOT SOME FLY BY NIGHT DIET!!!!!
