Mr.E: Can you tell me where I might find chia seeds? I'm going to try the combo of all 3. do you mix the vinegar (? what kind, does it matter) in anything. And maybe a slice of lowfat cheese.
Thanks again for you input and help. (Do you know if sleep apnea has a bearing on early morning b.sugar counts?).

Thanks much E: I will ck. that site out and I printed the other one you recommended (not sure if they are the same). I have been monitoring my b.s. every day...seems to be going down. Actually I'm probably not eating enough now. It was running like 107 in the afternoons. a.m.'s are still higher.
I really appreciate your input very much. Thank you.
Sincerely/nellie

NELLJERRY - I am not a doctor so I will not tell you that you have diabetes, pre-diables, or any other condition. But your blood sugar reading are higher then a normal persons. As for dawn phenomenon, it means if you take your blood reading just before going to bed and then when you wake up, before you have breakfast, your reading are higher your just experienced the dawn phenomenon. Here is an article on it. www.healthcentral.com/diabetes/c/17/17579/

I tried a few things to lower my morning blood sugar reading. Just before bed I have 2 tbls of vinegar, and little bit low fat cheese, and 1 tbls of chia seeds. My wife is a type 1, I am a type 2. Works for both of us.

Hi: I'm brand new and asking for help. 1st..of all I think I'm in denial. I don't know for sure if I have diabetes...but I got scared tonight after church. I took it and it was 261...right after eating some sweets. I was feeling weird with palps, etc. (the thing is that the only time I ever had higher b.sugars was in the morning..I tried to believe it was that dawn....something. Don't know just what that means...I need help in learning just whats going on with my body. It used to be 140 in the a.m. 's and now it's sometimes 160-175. That scares me. I need to do something. Can you help direct me.My last 3 month test showed 6.8. I'm not on any meds but my dr. did encourage me to go and get counseling for diabetes as he says I have it. I am always trying to eat healthier and I stay same weight...which is over 200...not good I know. Sorry if I'm rambling...just kinda scared about this. How do you find out if you have that dawn phenomonen and what does that mean anyway?
Thank you for listening to a newby...Would appreciate any help you can give.
Sincerely ...Nellie

What I have done to control the dawn phenomenon is take my glucotrol medication at bedtime. I take one glucaphage before my breakfast and one before supper.
That seems to have worked for me. One does what one has to do...The Dr. looked and me and told if that worked for me it was ok.

Hi there and welcome! I get the dawn phenomenon at times and it's so frustrating. Have you tried getting up around 2-3am and checking your blood sugar? I've found that helps. If it's under 10.0 I eat something light (such as a piece of toast). If it's above 10.0, I take a couple units of insulin.
