I can totally relate! If I cannot do it completely alone, I don't do it at all!! In classes I can be goofy and fun, Zumba perfect example. At practice I really get into the drills, so that I too am sweating and out of breath, which doesn't take long. I think of it as showing the girls that they need to take the sport seriously too. The parents give me looks and the head coach seems like she doesn't appreciate it. But she is 6 foot, a size 0 and has that amazing personality to boot.
When I home ALONE I rock out like I am the only one in the world!!

HECK YEAH I AM!! When I workout I lock all doors, I close the blinds lol. I am so paranoid somebody might see my uncoordinated self at work. I sometimes workout in front of my girls but even thats sometimes embarrassing! They will just watch me and then say I don't think thats how you do it mommy, but that doesn't discourage me though I just keep truckin along! I just remind myself I am burning calories regardless!!!
LOL!! I, too feel embarrassed to workout in front of my husband. I really don't understand it either. He and I have been through a lot together. Seems silly that I would be embarrassed to exercise in front of him, but I am. The only way I deal with it, is to fight through it and exercise in front of him anyway. I tell myself that I am doing a good thing trying to stay healthy and be in shape. I do a lot of home exercise dvd's so he is always around. The other part, I guess is that when I really think about it, I don't care how I look or what he thinks. I know I'm doing good for myself. LOL
Well, its kind of the opposite for me--it's actually motivating! If my fiancé so happens to be in the living room while I'm getting it in, for some reason his presence pushes me to perform every step, rep & set correctly. I be on point like I am the instructor, lol. Now on the other hand if I'm by my lonesome, granted I complete my workout but there are times when I know I could of pushed myself further.
And my daughter is 5 months. She just smiles & stares at me in amazement like, "What the heck is mommy doing" lol..
I hope you find a solution so that you can be comfortable enough to get your exercise in. Remember that you are working on your body & that your current body is only a temporary cover. Take care..

I am with you on this one. I get very self conscious if my husband is even in a room that connects to the one that I am working out in! I always feel like I look goofy while I am working out and just don't want anyone watching but I don't mind classes.

MEE!!!!! I feel so self-conscious about working out infront of my husband and my 8 year old.. I don't know why. I don't want them judging me for my lack of coordination.LOL. I'm not into working out in a class.. They'll judge me too.. It's silly really.. And if I realistically had 30 minutes a day to work out, I wouldn't be on this site ! Having children while trying to get 30 minutes of time to do ANYTHING is tough. BUT, I'm doing it this time ! i can't be fat anymore..
You know what, you do what feels comfortable to you. Once you get down again, I bet you won't think anything of it. We think of all kinds of negative or weird things when we're at our most vulnerable state. Once you reach goal, it won't mean a thing. Cheers!
Thank you!! It's weird, right? Sometimes we play bowling or tennis on the Wii. That I'm ok with, too. I have really taken an interest in yoga and pilates. Somehow, I just can't get comfortable with doing it while he's home. He's really supportive with my dieting and exercising. I just think it's weird!
My crazy husband seems to think watching me sweat is sexy...uh, yeah right! I am nervous about working out in front of him, unless we're playing the Xbox Kinect. That workout has everyone moving so there's a diff there.
I just have to ask. Are there any other Moms out there who are self-conscious about doing workout videos or strength training in front of their significant others or older children? I don't know why, but it really bothers me. I know it may be irrational, but I just can't seem to overcome it. If there is anybody else out there who can relate, any tips on overcoming or even just managing that uneasy feeling would be greatly appreciated!!
