Soda bottle Polar bears

What you'll need:Gesso (recommended: Liquitex Basics Gesso)
White and black acrylic craft paint
Paint brush
2 liter plastic bottle
2 mismatched socks
Black marker
Pink crayon
Scissors
12" white yarn
White craft glue
Rice, pebbles, pennies, sand, etc (for weight)
Pattern

How to make it:Remove all labels from bottle and rinse out well. Allow to dry, add some weights (pennies, sand, rice, etc.) and place cap back on bottle.
Paint bottle with one coat of gesso and let dry. Paint with one coat of white paint and let dry.
Cut one of the socks on half (see image). You will be using the end with the cuff. Use scissors to fringe the cut end of the sock (see image).
Use pattern to draw face on the front of the bottle using a black marker (see image). Fill in the nose with black paint. Use a pink crayon to color circles for cheeks (see image).
Using the pattern, cut out two mittens from the other sock. Glue one mitten so that it is partially covering the bear's mouth. Glue the other one lower and pointing toward her belly.
Place the cuff end of the first pink sock over the top of the bottle cap. Use yarn to tie a knot around the sock in between the cuff and the fringe. Tie yarn into a bow trim off excess ends, leaving a couple of inches in place. Arrange the fringe so that it flops on top of the hat.

Tips:Don't toss out your mismatched socks! Save them for fun winter projects such as this.
Instead of a two liter bottle, you can make this smaller with a water bottle. We used a 3 liter bottle for ours!
Gesso is a craft medium that allows paint to adhere to many surfaces. It is available in the art department of your local craft supply store.

Autumn Leaf Placemat Craft

Materials Needed:

•Clear Contact Paper
•Leaves
Instructions:
Go for a walk and collect a wide variety of leaves - as many different colors and shapes as you can find.

Cut 2 pieces of clear contact paper about 2-feet long. Remove the backing from one piece. Stick the leaves randomly onto the sticky side of the contact paper. Once you are satisfied with the design, peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and cover the leaves with it to seal them in between the contact paper sheets.

Trim around the edges; use pinking shears or other fancy edged scissors if you like!

How to Make Cheap Gift Baskets

I want to do this! What's This? Homemade tea-themed cheap gift basket

Cheap gift baskets can be made at home with just a little creativity and foresight. These inexpensive homemade gift baskets make great gifts for family members and friends. Use this easy method to make cheap gift baskets that rival expensive store bought packages.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:
Cheap basket
Filler material

Step 1

Choose a theme for your cheap gift baskets. This can be anything from spa, wine, flower, food, or a hobby. Choosing a theme from the beginning will help you later when choosing filler material and items to but in the basket.

Step 2

Select a large, cheap basket. You can find inexpensive baskets at discount stores, garage sales, flea markets, thrift stores, or you can make your own if you have the skill. This is the foundation of making your own cheap gift baskets, so choose accordingly.

Step 3
Add filler material to the basket. Crumpled newspaper or an old piece of foam will work fine for this stage. This will not be visible to the recipient of your cheap gift baskets. It only provides elevation to the contents so they rise above the basket and can be easily seen. Place several inches of filler into the bottom of the basket.

Step 4

Add a second layer of filler material to the basket. This layer should be more decorative, as it will be seen. You could use shredded newspaper or brown paper bag for men's cheap gift baskets. Or, use leftover plastic grass from Easter, curled ribbon, tissue paper, shredded sheet music, etc. Any shredded paper that relates to the theme of the gift basket will work fine.

Step 5

Add gifts to the cheap gift baskets. The gifts you add will depend upon your theme, budget, and time. Look for inexpensive bath and body products, or wine on sale. You could make homemade cookies and candy, put them in plastic bags tied with ribbon, and add them to several cheap gift baskets. Shop discount stores and thrift stores to find your own perfect additions, or make your own homemade gifts.

Desk Organizer (4 - 6-Year-Olds)

I used to make these desk organizers for my Dad when I was a little girl. The best part about them is that they recycle cardboard you already have at home!
Supplies

Cardboard tubes (any size), colored paint and brushes, cereal box or other piece of thick cardboard, hot glue gun (for adult use only)

How to

Step 1: Cut cardboard tubes to desired size to hold pencils, pens, push pins, etc. Cut a circle out of the cereal box to act as the base.
Step 2: Paint tubes and base and set aside to dry.
Step 3: Once dry, hot glue tubes together, making sure that the bottoms are all level (this is a grown-up job!)
Step 4: Hot glue tubes to base.
Step 5: Embellish and decorate, then fill with office supplies!

Bath Buddies Soap

Ivory Snow detergent (or any other soap flakes)
Liquid food coloring
Water
Vegetable oil

Bowl
String (for soap on a rope)

Pour approximately 3 cups
of soap flakes into the bowl. Add 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water with a few drops of food coloring added to it.

Mix the contents of the bowl with your hands until it becomes the consistency of play dough.

To shape it, take a drop or two of vegetable oil and rub it between the palm of your hands, then shape any way you wish.

If you want to make a soap on a rope, cut a piece of string and tie the ends together. Push the knotted end gently into the your finished shape.

Let the completed soap stand to set overnight

Here is a cheap gift to make for dad for fathers day!

DAD'S SURVIVAL KIT

"Some dads are away from home and whether on a business trip or out to sea serving his country, I've found it's really comforting when the kids make Dad a survival kit."

What You Need:
small box
magazines
scissors
glue
pencils
crayons
paper
envelope
string
contact paper
assorted goodies
What You Do:
Decorate a small box with a picture collage from magazines or drawings and secure it with clear contact paper.

What goes inside? What does dad need to remember that you are thinking of him?

Dad needs a photo of you, maybe surrounded by a homemade frame.

He'll need a paper heart to remind him you care.

A Band-aid in case he needs some TLC

A Quarter or a Phone card so he can call home. (or ride the pony at the store)

A home made ID card with your fingerprints on it so he knows what kid he belongs to.

A drawing of you and him eating Mom's cookies together or some other activity you share.

A piece of paper,and a stamped,addressed envelope, to mail you a letter

A Hershey's kiss (or a lipstick print on paper)

A personal item such as a rock, if you and dad like to collect them, or a fish hook taped to a card...

A cassette tape, with you telling dad a bedtime story.

An I love you dad note in your best printing.

A tracing of your handprint with a piece of string glued around one of the fingers, and words that say "Don't forget, I'm thinking of you"

One of your small toys, like a small action figure or doll. So he can think about playing with you.

Things you can never find when you need them, a rubber band, a paper clip, a thumb tack, a safety pin...

Put everything inside the box, tie the box shut with a ribbon or a piece of yarn and label it "Dad's survival kit"

You may want to put your dad's name on it if he's going to be around a lot of other people called Dad too.

Star Photo Frame And Card

You will need:
Craft foam (or card) in yellow or orange
Foam letters
Our star template
Photos (passport size) one of each child
Glue

Instructions:
Print out our star template on to card. Use this to cut out a large foam star for each child.
Cut a circle out of the middle of each star. Glue the photos to the backs of the frames.
Use the template as a guide to cut one even larger star.
Use the foam letters to add a message to this star (we wrote Grandpa’s Stars).
Finally cut a strip of yellow foam for each star. Glue these to the back of each star and glue the other end to the large star.
The frame can now be pinned up, or attached to a larger piece of card and used as a greetings card or for display

Spiced Tea Mix Recipe

Ingredients:
• 1½ cups of orange breakfast drink (like Tang)
• ¾ cup iced tea mix
• 1½ cups white sugar
• 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons ground cloves
• 1 teaspoon ground ginger
~ Makes about 4 cups ~ Jar Decoration:

• 1 quart (or 4 cup) glass jar
• eyelet lace trim or something similar
• ¼ picot ribbon or raffia
• 2 or 3 short cinnamon sticks
• white glue or tacky glue
• Printable Spiced Tea Mix label
• Scissors

.
Spiced Tea Mix - Gift in a Jar

Instructions:
1. Stir all ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Pour into the quart jar (a funnel is useful for this but not absolutely necessary) and cap with a screw top lid, firmly screwed down.

2. Print the Spiced Tea Mix label shown at right and cut it out (with fancy edged craft scissors, if you have them). Use a paper punch to put a hole in the top right hand corner.

3. Cut the lace trim to fit around the jar lid, adding an extra inch. Glue lace in place around the rim of the lid, overlapping the extra inch of lace at the back. Alternatively, you could cover the lid with a circle of lace or pretty fabric tied in place with the ribbon.

4. Tie ribbon around the lace on the jar lid, then tie the ribbon around the cinnamon sticks so that they appear at the front of the jar. Thread ribbon through the punched hole on the label and tie in place with a bow.

Oatmeal Milk Bath Recipe

1 cup corn starch
2 cups milk powder
1/2 cup baking soda (increase if your water is hard)
1/2 cup finely ground oatmeal
Optional
1/2 cup dried rose petals, lavender or rosemary, and/or a few drops of matching essential oils.

Process oatmeal in the blender until finely ground. Add milk powder and process until well mixed.
Pour into a bowl, add corn starch and baking soda, mixing all ingredients very well. Grind herbs finely with a mortar and pestle, or in the blender, and stir into the powdered mixture. If desired, add a few drops of essential oil and mix well.
Add three tablespoons (or more, if you like) to your next bath to soothe your soul and soften your skin.

Marshmallow Bonbons

38-40 large marshmallows
1 (12 oz.) package chocolate chips
Coconut
Sprinkles
Nuts, chopped
Place marshmallows on a pan that is covered with wax paper and place in the freezer. They will be ready by the time you need to dip them. Pour coconut, sprinkles, and nuts on squares of waxed paper. You could use a bowl but wax paper saves in clean up. Melt chips in microwave for a couple of minutes stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Place frozen marshmallows on skewer or tooth pick and dip in chocolate then in roll in coconut, sprinkles & nuts. Use a fork to slide them back on the wax paper. Chill.

Soda Bath Fizz

You'll need the Following:
1 1/3 c. Epsom Salts or Sea Salts
1 1/3 c. Baking Soda
1/2 c. Powdered Milk
1/2 c. citric acid powder (I purchase this in bulk at walmart in the pharmacy section or at health food stores in the beer/wine making section)20 Oz. Plastic Soda or Water Bottle, washed out & Dried thoroughly (or 24 oz and add 2 T. More powdered milk)10-15 drops of Vanilla Essential Oil Or Essential oil of your choice (Please note, Fragrance oils Can be used, but they tend to irritate sensitive skin. Essential oils are pure & less likely to irritate or cause reaction.) See differences Now.. How to Make Them! In a large bowl combine the salts & baking soda , stirring thoroughly. Carefully add in the powdered milk, squishing it through your hands or sifting it to break up any lumps.
Next, add your essential oils for your desired fragrance (see list of ideas below!), and blend well. Finally, add your citric acid, and mix it in if children are making these, be sure they wash their hands immediately following this step.) Next, Roll a piece of paper into a cone shape to use as a funnel, or use a funnel & carefully pour the bath fizz gently into the bottle. The Contents may settle a bit, tap it gently on the counter, continue filling & then cap it off tightly. Now.. It's time to decorate your ...Soda Bath Fizz. (This is a view of what your fizz can do!)You can decorate your bottle several ways.... by adding a strip of paper (printed on your computer) as a label, or with pretty ribbons. Let your imagination run wild as you design a "soda".
"Flavors"
Cream Soda Fizz: Vanilla Essential Oil
Cherry Vanilla Fizz: simply add 2 pkgs of unsweetened Cherry Kool-aid to the above recipe. The color will be a very light pink, & smell delicious.
Ginger-Ale : Omit Vanilla Essential oil & add 10 drops Ginger Essential Oil & a couple small slices of dried ginger root if desired. "Ginger Ale Fizz - soak out whatever "ales" you."
Tropical Paradise: add 2 pkgs tropical punch kool-aid
Grape Soda Fizz: Omit Essential Oil & add 2 pkgs Grape Kool-aid
Orange Soda Fizz: omit essential oil & add 2 pkgs orange kool-aid
Orange Cream Soda Fizz: vanilla essential oil & 2 pkgs orange cool aid.

I'd "Soda" like to wish you a Merry Christmas! Add a couple Tablespoons to a full tub, It's Soda-lightful! We're Soda-Lighted to wish you a Happy Holiday

Essential Oil Room Air Freshener Spray Recipe

Basic
• 1 cup distilled water
• 8-10 drops essential oils, of your choice
Deodorizing Room Spray
• 6 drops bergamot essential oils
• 1 drop eucalyptus essential oil
• 2 drops lemon essential oils
Pet Deodorizing Room Spray
• 6 drops cedar wood essential oils
• 3 drops tea tree oil
Apple Pie Spice Room Air Freshener
• 6 drops cinnamon essential oils
• 3 drops clove essential oils
Orange Spice Room Air Freshener
• 5 drops orange essential oils
• 2 drops cinnamon essential oils
Mood Lifter Air Freshener Spray
• 4 drops chamomile essential oils
• 3 drops orange essential oils
• 2 drops yang yang essential oils
Stress Reliever Air Freshener Spray
• 4 drops lavender oil
• 3 drops rose essential oils
• 2 drops clary sage essential oils (optional)
Sleepy-Hour Relaxation Air Freshener Spray
• 4 drops lavender oil
• 3 drops chamomile essential oils
Directions
Basic: Pour the cup of distilled water into the spray bottle. Add the drops of essential oils and shake very well. Cap the bottle, and allow to sit for a few hours before using. Shake the bottle before each use to evenly distribute the scented oil throughout the water. Use the label to describe what sort of air freshener each bottle is. And be sure to use the fine mist setting on your bottle, so the spray will be distributed nicely in the air. Here are some interesting ideas for wonderful air freshener sprays, but you can go ahead and create your own favorite blends using scents that you love the most! To use the following recipe, just add the recommended amounts of essential oil to the spray bottle with the distilled water, and follow the instructions as above. Please note that essential oils can vary in potency- for this reason, you can add or reduce the amounts of essential oil recommended in each recipe, if you find that the essential oil you've bought is either stronger or weaker than expected. Deodorizing Room Spray: Add to the distilled water in the spray bottle, shake well and spray as a fine mist. Pet Deodorizing Room Spray: Add to the distilled water in the spray bottle, shake well and spray as a fine mist. (If you have pets like I do, this spray is great for around the litter box, or just for freshening up the entire house!) Apple Pie Spice Room Air Freshener: Add to distilled water in the spray bottle, shake well and spray as a fine mist. I love this one sprayed in the kitchen! Orange Spice Room Air Freshener: Add to distilled water in the spray bottle, shake well and spray as a fine mist. Lovely spicy orange scent! Now, here are three blends made to change your mood for the better! It's been proven that with the effects of aromatherapy, just the way things smell can alter your mood. Mood Lifter Air Freshener Spray: Follow directions as with other recipes above. This recipe will make you feel more light hearted, and less depressed. Stress Reliever Air Freshener Spray: Follow directions as with other recipes above. This air freshener will help relieve stress, and it smells really wonderful! Sleepy-Hour Relaxation Air Freshener Spray: Both of these essential oils have wonderful, sedative effects. Spray a little in your bedroom a half hour before going to bed, to enjoy the soothing effects of these natural sedatives. Or spray a little on your pillow or bedclothes to enjoy a whole night of wonderful, restorative sleep.
