My fasting number was over 250 this week. Can this be affected by sleep problems - my CPAP machine was having problems - or stress - work was terrible.

139 this a.m;inconsistent checking this week d/t semi-emergency 600 mile (each way) car trip by myself to have last visit w/ my failing 87-yr-old mother. 140 after too many carbs last night but back on plan today. Went to Dr yesterday; a1c is down to 6 from its worst of 8.8 from when I weighed 50 lbs more than I do now. However, recently I've developed a swallowing problem so going to get that looked at by a gastroenterologist; might be that my neuropathy is spreading.

158 today; 139 yesterday. Have gotten very sloppy w/ food plan, which shows on both meter and scale (weight has been stuck for about 6 weeks). Breaking out an oldie but goodie from the 70s (managed to get a copy of the book I used then) that keeps carb choices down to 8/day spaced out rather evenly; I lost 50 lbs on it w/o suffering back in the day.

194. Sigh. Been going up for several weeks since my cardiologist added a beta blocker. Don't know if that's it or my age and length of time I've been Type II is catching up with. My A1C is always under 6, but this isn't looking good. Internal medicine doctor just had me increase my Metformin from 500mg twice daily to 1000mg twice daily. Time to get back to basics and quit eating anything I want.

FBS today only 108 so ate breakfast earlier than usual. Had a carton of plain regular yogurt (sweetened/flavored w/ Mio) along w/ the usual eggs; if my sugars are higher I will use a lower-carb yogurt like Greek or a Kroger Carbmaster depending on reading.
The food plan I'm using (Dukan) allows for plenty of FF or LF yogurt plus 2 tbs of oat bran/day, which I also use to help tweak sugars. This high-protein plan would probably give your RD or CDE fits, but it works very well for me--I just can't tolerate the amount of carbs in the routine recommendations. As I continue to lose weight (50 lbs down, 50 to go) hopefully my carb tolerance will improve.

The Big Bounce has started again--123 Sunday, 141 yesterday, and 151 today. Back on lower-carb food plan to see if this calms down. Back to doc in about 2 weeks; will see what a1c is doing.

147--terrible time yesterday evening and all day today w/ severe neuropathy-type pain in hands/arms plus haven't been sleeping well lately. So, I blame stress for both my slightly elevated sugars and horribly out-of-control blood pressure. Made an appointment to see Dr in a couple of weeks; was due to go back about then anyway. Also have been calling around to find a pain management practice.
Re-started food plan; so far so good--next weight day is Sunday.

It sounds like you are off to a good start. Weight reduction is so key. Have you thought about a yoga/meditation class to help deal with the stress? I am struggling with my food plan also. I live with my daughter and her children have alot of food allergies, so she is limited in what she can cook. I don't do the food preparation. Luckily she is pretty healthy in her eating habits. It is so stressful thinking about what you can't eat. I try to concentrate on what I can. It helps. I hope you feel better soon. Keep up the good work!!

142 this morning--awful stress (car trouble that should be resolved today at no cost to me); stress seems to raise my level. Having a lot of problems getting food plan figured out; I make actually too much of my own insulin (problem runs in my family). Re-started the plan on which I lost most of those 45 lbs (lean protein, a small amt of starch, veggies, and dairy products for carbs).
Hoping that w/ consistency levels will drop (Dr wants them in the 120s); actually having serious continuing issues w/ my blood pressure, too. At least one of the BP meds I'm on is known to raise blood sugars and cause hypoglycemia unawareness.
Will be around, hopefully w/ better numbers to post.

Anything over 126 is considered diabetic blood reading. You are not that far from it. Maybe late night snacking or a need for insulin at night?
