Finished up LC W2 started W3.
On what should have been my rest day I fit in LC Intervals. Talk about a fantastic workout.
I'm able to do the AB workout pretty well now, compared to when I started.

Man the appetite is back in full force - could not get enough food this week.

Can't believe only two more weeks left. Very proud of myself that I'm seeing this through.

Hope you're all doing well!!

Had to leave town unexpectedly after I started LC W2. (boy, that sounds like I was up to something nefarious doesn't it? It was totally legal - I promise) emoticon

I'm going to start W2 over again.

Had good news this week anyway... My Dr. took me off my high blood pressure medicine. One less thing I have to remember in the morning.

Hello , gone a while - I took a 2 week break ... I pulled a shoulder muscle & hurts to lift weights . So just been doing more leg work / walking / cardio ....... So I'm doing more Stretch Bands , instead of weights --- bcuz my shoulder hurts.

I haven't lost much weight , but can see muscles in my arms. Maybe lost 5 lbs - that's about it. I'm getting mad at my body , bcuz I fell like I work so hard & NO results. !!!! I know I'm suppose to be positive , but m just MAD ! Lol
I'm on the Lean phase & sad that I didn't reach my 30 lbs goal weight loss.

Hi ladies,

I just did Push 2, this workout is tough...You have to use heavy weights, because otherwise you really can't feel it, and it's a killer. I was soaked in sweat :)

I measured myself on Sunday, and as I thought I heaven't lost any weight, in fact, I gained 2 pounds, but that's what happened the last time I did this, first I gain a little, and then in Push phase I start to lose. So I'm hoping this is how it's going to be this time around as well.

I definitely feel a lot stronger, and my muscle endurance is much better now. I can't wait till I lose some pounds. This fat on my belly is really boring :)

Hope You all are doing great...

Completed PC W4 (Yay Me!!)

Wow, two months in already...

I have lost some incremental 'all over' inches since the start of the program; some places more than others. Happy with the progress so far. Feel myself getting functionally stronger and that's what I was ultimately going for.

Start LC on Wednesday and excited to get started.
This is where she says we'll see the most results.

I'm still doing most of my pushups on my knees but slowly adding more on the toes (feel myself a little lazy on this point emoticon ).
This is the challenge for myself - Graduate to all pushups on my toes by the end of the program.
I plan to practice even when I'm not doing the DVD to help myself build up.

I haven't been tracking my nutriition these past two months since hitting my goal weight, just to give myself a break. But I think I'll start again today and track for the LC.

Hope you're all still getting EXTREME with me!!!

Completed PC W3 yesterday.

Though I like the PC I'll admit to getting a little antsy to start the LC. I think I miss working with the leg resistance band. emoticon

PC had definitely improved my balance. I'm able to get my socks on standing up without teetering.

Today's a rest day then on to PC W4!!!!

Hi, thank You all for your replies, I think I've read somewhere too that you can do both, but I will do some more research..DJARAC, thank You for these articles, I'll read them as well. I really don't want to do anything on my rest days, my body needs that rest, and it's sort of a pusher for me, I tell my self only two more workouts till my rest day :)

But maybe I don't have to do them in a row, maybe I can do ST in the morning, and then cardio later in the day..

But You've helped a lot..Thank You:)

These articles above show that you can do both in the same day. If you put in the search engine about Cardio and Weights you will see that 95% of the articles state its not a problem. Today I did Chalean Extreme Burn Curcuit 1 then Insanity Plyometrics and a 20 minute walk with my daughter.

I am feeling it but its funny. I'm sitting here watching tv and I want to do another workout. Don't worry I won't. LOL

Hope this helps.

Hi BUBBA673

I've read on other posts it's not recommended to do intense cardio and ST on the same day. The reason being one will ultimately suffer.

I know after I'm done with ST my arms/legs feel heavy so don't know if I would be able to tackle intense cardio on the same day. I have done ST/Cardio/Cardio/ST on successive days and not had a problem.

Maybe just take one of the rest days and fit the Cardio in there if possible. Or if the only option is to do it on the same day; do a cardio less intense then normal so the ST won't be impacted (since it's more important to the program).

Hi everyone,

today starts my week four of Chalean Burn phase, I only skipped one workout yesterday, I had such a crazy day:( But I plan to make up for it by adding some extra cardio this week. Just wanted to ask you guys, do you think I should do cardio before or after strength training?

Completed PC W1

Funny, in the BC it seemed like my appetite increased. Now it seems my appetite has decreased this past last week with the PC. The body is a mystery.......

Still loving the Sumo Squats.
I like slowing the movement waaaay down pushing up with the heel and really feeling it in the inner thigh.
I think the hardest ones for me are the bowler lunges. Man the hip and glutes burn on those.

Rest day today then on to PC W2

Hi everyone,

my first week of Chalean is done:)) I feel great, I've been eating good...

Yesterday I tried Chalenes ball workout and I have to say it's a killer..I did extreme intervals ball, it's 40 min. interval training, and I had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath, but I didi it.

It's a small victory but my weekly goal is done:)

YIWEN - are you maybe squatting too low? I have bad knees and I have been told by numerous doctors / physical therapists that when doing squats never squat to 90 degrees - either go higher or lower, but not exactly at 90 degrees because the pressure is too much on the knees! Hope that helps!

I am scheduled to do Burn Intervals after work today - but I am feeling so exhausted right now! I hope I can get up the energy and motiviation to get in a workout later!

Completed BC W4 yesterday

It's hard to tell if I lost any inches. Some measurements were only a 1/4-1/2" off from my starting measurements.
Not sure if I measured in the exact same place or there is a true difference.
(Just moving the tape measure a skosh can show a 1 " difference in places) emoticon

Oh well, I think once I see a bigger difference then I can say with all certainty I've lost inches.
I do feel better, like I said in a previous post I can shoot up six flights of stairs with ease now and not even be breathing heavy. And I can absolutely see the start of definition especially in the delts.

Week 2 BC 3.
Running late but have to take it slow if I'm gonna go all the way. Getting signs of overtraining, and some pain in the knees... That's OK, I'm in no rush ;-)

Hi all,

I just started chalean today, hopefully this time i will finish what I started. I tried Chalean once, and I had great results after the burn phase, did two weeks of push and gave up for no good reason. Since then I quit smoking and gained 15 pounds. So I'm hoping I'll get my self in shape again. So, proud to say I did Day 1 Burn 1:)

Week 2 : Burn circuit done !
I AM SO SORE !!!! No joke ! My triceps hurt !!! Lol. Feels good to feel stronger. Able to do more push ups & feel stronger biceps. Did ABS extreme & that hurts my back !!! So I improvised with my COREball . Also, I used resistance bands this week. My 10 lbs was too heavy in some exercises ... So I took a little break from the dumbbells. No weight scale decrease , but just feel stronger w/ upper arms a little. Also , gonna jog 10-20 mins adittional weekend exercise.

I'm in W2 of the CLX/TF hybrid. Last night I did Burn Circuit 2 - I definitely need to use heavier weights on the rows. Today I did Extreme Abs and Recharge. Extreme Abs was definitely worse than Ab Burner so I will be feeling that one later! Also planning to get in some cardio this afternoon. Have a great day!

Completed BC W3

For some exercises, I was able to go to 12lbs where I was doing 10lbs previously.
Bought some 15lbs in preparation for Push.

Things I noticed this week:
I'm seeing some indentations in the shoulder area.
My back seems a little more concave. (If that makes sense emoticon )
Able to go up the 6 flights of stairs at work with a bit more ease.

Today is a rest day, then start BC W4 Wednesday !

YIWEN39 - I track the ab workouts as pilates, the stretching workouts as yoga, and the weight training workouts as circuits. Sometimes I use my heart rate monitor and then will manually enter in the categories. I just look for a rough estimate usually.

Friday night I did Core 20 and Stretch 10. Wow my abs were on fire!!! I felt it all day yesterday, and even more this morning! Yesterday I was supposed to do Burn it Off, but my boyfriend actually wanted to workout together, so I skipped the dvd and we did running sprint intervals, and then swam laps at the pool. Still a great workout! Today I am up to do Ab Burner and Recharge again. My abs are going to hate me!! But I am looking forward to the stretching in Recharge!

Day 3 for me today, I just loved the Burn intervals! Super tough... but I enjoyed it emoticon My weight was a bit too heavy, I couldn't keep up on everything.
Then Abs... OMG... I need this emoticon
A question: how do you track all this? Today I put it under circuit training... What do you guys do? I like to track all my food and as much of my exercise as possible... Thanks for your advice!
Have a great weekend emoticon

Motivation is back on track ;-) I lost it a few days ago - I was on the monthly cycle - somehow , I get hormonal & BLAH for about 2-4 days & then , I'm OK again. I read during menstrual periods , we go through cravings & eat more - so I allowed myself to eat more ( emotional / hormonal ). I know it's all "mental" , but when you are sad , etc ....I just gotta get up & do a sumo squats / military press ;-) lol. It works !!!

So , I finished week 1 of BURN. YaY ! I also added a "little bit" of TurboJam , cross fit type workout , Pilates core ball exercises , and power walking. I live in Germany , so my old weighing scale was CHEAP USA scale ( lbs ), I bought a German scale ( Kg ) ---- so it's says 77 kg ( that # visually looks better than 169 lbs - ha ha ha - its 2 digits , instead of 3 digits ).
So my goal is to go down 1 kg a week ( till I reach my goal ).

I think eating healthy is my problem. I been eating more "solid complex food" , than salad. I figured if I stay w/ salad & protein shake , I will be OK ( just finding the self discipline to STAY AWAY from complex carbs - Bread , Rice , Potato , pastry , croissants !!!! In Germany (near French border ) they make the BEST CROISsANTS & I live down a local bakery ( temptations ). I do eat them , from time to time ( once a week ??? ). Germans also have a lot of fried foods & gravy / creamy foods (they are all yummy ). But I avoid eating out for that reason ! If I do go out , I eat only half the portion & take home leftovers .

Good Morning! Yesterday was a rest day for me, but this morning I was back at it! Woke up at 2am unable to get back to sleep, so finally at around 4:30am I rolled out of bed and did Burn Circuit 1. Phew! My legs are shaking and I know I will feel it in my arms later! Feels great to get the workout for the day out of the way so early! Will be getting in a 2.5 mile run this afternoon too! Make it a great day!

On week three of Burn!
We all go through motivational issues, but you have to push through that or you will stay the way you are. My motivation comes by being surrounded by others doing the same thing and wanting to buy cute clothes. I won't buy anything nice until I reach my goal..

Good Morning! I completed Day 2 of my hybrid program this morning! I did Ab Burner and Recharge. Wow the Ab Burner was rough! I used to be really good at ab workouts but I know I will be feeling this later tonight or tomorrow morning! Tomorrow is a rest day for me, but I am thinking of getting in some swimming after work. Not working out in the morning though because I have to get a fasting blood test done before work. Hope everyone has a great day and a great workout!

A big WELCOME to our newcomers to the team. It's not too late....in fact, I was suppose to be starting this last week and I didn't, so I am starting Week 1 today. It's good to know I'll have some company!

Jo, You are doing great! Don't worry about the plateau....it happens. The important thing is to keep on track and never give up. Reflect on what you did last week....Is there is something you can tweak just a bit to get the scale moving again? Perhaps adding 5 more minutes to your walking or hula hooping, or adding a pound to your weights? Sometimes a very small, simple adjustment will get things going again. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Welcome !!!! Congrats on Day 1 .

I was thinking after Day 7 ... This CLX / TurboJam - Fire , etc ...... It should become easier & a habit. Charlene says it takes 21 days to form a habit ---- so I'm giving this a chance ;-). So keep up the great work !

To everyone here - thanks for joining me for 90 days - I appreciate all the support & comradery.
I'm not losing weight & reached a plateau ---- so I'm hoping this helps me. Here's to a new day & a new CIRCUIT (burn , push , or lean !). Muscle burns FAT - " to be extreme , I have to tell myself ---- to exercise automatically for 30 mins is EXTrEME ! Therefore , I need to do ChaLEAN extreme everyday !!! (4-5x a week). Let's be EXTREME together ;-)

E : energy
X : X-fat ( getting rid of OLD fat ) lol
T : Together we can do this !!!
R: Reach for your goals
E: Exhaustion is reality, but we must continue - PUSH !
M: Mental readiness
E: elevate your spirits, your self , think CONFIDENCE !

Xoxo - hugs !

Hello all! Hope you dont mind me popping in to your CLX challenge! I actually just started the TurboFire/CLX Hybrid today, but the hybrid message boards seems pretty dead. I could definitely use the accountability of checking in daily! Today was Stretch 40 from TurboFire, which is kind of like yoga. It felt great, especially bc my boyfriend and I went hiking yesterday so I was feeling pretty sore. A good stretch felt great! :)

I've been gradually gaining weight, and the boyfriend and I have finally decided it is time for us to get serious about eating healthier and working out more. So here's to emoticon !!

Thanks Deb - I will check it out.
Sometimes, extra motivation is needed. Herbalife has a chicken soup thats High protein , maybe I can try that ( so I can feel like im eating a HOT meal , sometimes COLD salad is too cold. Still 35 degrees here in Germany)

Jo,

YES....I can recommmend a couple of motivational books....
First, "PUSH" by Chalene Johnson herself! She wrote a great life coaching book. The trick here is to not just read it, but do the "homework" and apply the principles.

Secondly, I would recommend a book by Dr. John Maxwell called "TODAY MATTERS". It will really put a sense of urgency into your life to help you get more things done, including exercise. In fact, anything written by Dr. Maxwell is great to read and then apply his prinicipals to your life!

Both of these books can be applied not only to your fitness goals, but any other goals you have in life be it financial, spiritual, relationships, and life in general. Happy reading!

I can have the same problem sometimes too. I have 4 kids... their ages are 11,9,6...and my oldest 47( my husband) who love carbs..like pasta and white bread...waffles...pancakes. The most important thing is always have things you enjoy to eat well stocked in your home so when you make the meals for them you have yours too. It is a lot of extra work but it will help you stay focused.....funny enough my kids and my husband see what I am going to eat and say they want that to.... emoticon

Completed CLX BC W2 today

Things I've noticed so far:

My appetite has increased.
Have begun to get night-sweats. Nothing bothersome just interesting.
My left side (which is usually stiffer then the right) is not so stiff anymore.
My left knee feels sooooo much better. I never had pain, so to speak, but I could always feel it. My jogs have been less stressful on the knees.
It feels like I stand a little taller.

I've been sticking with 8# for the arms and 10# or 12# for the lower leg exercises.

Tomorrow is a rest day then I start BC W3.

Just tell the family things are changing and switch to cleaner foods like the Michi's Ladder document details. I did that and that is what goes around here. If you really want to do this, you just do it, period.

It's very bootcamp style mentality, but that is how it is. I hope you find a way to change their habits..much easier to be surrounded by healthier foods.

Eating healthy ...... I'm struggling with eating healthy. My kid loves carbs ( rice, pasta, etc...) & on weekends , that's when family eating gets serious & I find myself eating more bcuz family is around. I am good weekdays , bcuz I just do my protein shakes for Bkfast & Lunch ( when I'm alone) , around family - I tend to eat more when they are eating w/ me. Any tips ??? I know it's more " mental work " on self discipline , that part is difficult.

HI Everyone!!
I have been doing BB Les Mills Pump since January 2 and finally got to the 3rd month that is the best part of the whole thing to me. But, it is more of a cardio circuit workout, not a muscle builder like other programs. I did ChaLean for the first time last year and really liked it...well, complained along the way because I was starting out and was 224lbs. BUT, I appreciate the results and inches lost I got with it.

I decided to redo it...modified this time around, so only doing the strength workouts and using PUMP instead of Burn It Off or Burn Intervals. This actually now is working great because Pump has gotten harder and ChaLean is 30 minutes, so getting in a faster high rep workout along with a slower paced heavier weights workout.

On off days I do different cardio routines from BBL, Insanity or random other DVD's from The Firm and so on.

I am about to start Asylum and Rev Abs in 10 days, but am throwing that in as a monster hybrid with ChaLean and Pump ( only have a month left of Pump...then I can throw in Asylum, which is a month.) just have to weave it all in as it makes sense.

So, week 2 of Burn was finished yesterday. I do weight work M-WED-FR

Week 3 of Burn starts Monday..I do think this is an incredible workout and lost a lot of inches with this...BUT I was 224lbs...so, that is expected. I did get stronger too.

Curious to see what happens this time. I am about 10-17lbs away from fat loss goal and then need to fine tune to where I try to add more muscle to help change the body composition more. So, fine tuning and the truly hard part begins..

Once I finish this up I plan on starting P90x2...so in 3 months. If I reach fat loss goal before the 3 months are over I might not do the last month...but we will see..just have to see what happens...

I use the Bowflex Selectech weights like the ones in the DVD and they are worth every penny...have had them for 2 years and love them! I also lift very heavy for me...so depending on the body part 12.5-50lbs. Shoulders being the 12.5-17lbs....lots of shoulder work in this program...so be very conservative with those. Have heard of injuries on shoulders with this program...that area is sensitive and doesn't need a lot of weight...well, the overhead presses you can go heavier...but the shoulder raises should be conservative.

As far as eating...if you truly truly want to eat clean and maybe potentially start seeing some muscle definition and abs, it is mostly nutrition...so to learn what are considered clean foods...try out Beachbody's tool...Michi's Ladder. Google it and you will find pdf documents and articles on it. categorizes food into 5 groups..1 being the cleanest and 5 being the junk. You want to see where your eating habits are now and try to get to level ps 1-2 mainly. A few in 3 and 4 are okay, but stay away from 5's. Love this tool and use it.
