Thanks Lily for the good wishes. Fortunately, I feel so much better and have restarted
exercising. I wll probably restart Chalene Extreme next week. I will be much more careful on form and weights. I have had great results before the pulled back muscle.

I'm not a medical professional but I've wrenched my back (as in meds and laid up for days, not an aching/ twingeing back, which I have all the time due to fusions in my spine!).

The answer is: it depends. Did you see the doctor? You may need to and get her recommendation (and remember that she doesn't know YOUR body as well as you do--you can tell if you're in pain or feeling the burn).

If you didn't see the doctor, start slowly. Do the warm up. If that works, try the last weights you used. You should know immediately if "something's wrong." If it is, put the weights down carefully and see your doctor.

Feel better soon!

First: I'm soooo sorry! Get better soon!

If it's your first rotation, why not try Lean when you come back? Basically, it's focusing on core "all" the time because you're working upper and lower body at the same time (more even than earlier phases). It's not going to harm you to do it to finish that rotation.

If you're on another rotation already, I'd say pick which phase fires you up more: Lean or Burn (finish or start over). I've done them in that manner after injuries and it's grand, no worries.

I recently hurt my back during the cardio portion of Chalene Extreme.
I have not worked out in four days. How long does it take to recover from
a pulled muscle? I really want to return to my workouts. I had just started the
Push Phase. Should I restart the program? I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks,

Got through Burn 1 with both feet on the ground! Lightly on one side (my left leg and core are getting a real workout) - I am not good at being out of commission, but know if I do too much too soon I'll regret it - right now I'm just happy to sweat sitting on a ball, balancing on one foot, and lifting some heavy weight. Time to go ice the ankle!

I am so glad other people find that blog by Chalene as motivating as I do! If I were to meet her that is the first thing I would bring up. It's great to know someone like here goes through the same challenges as the rest of us emoticon

I just sprained my ankle this past weekend - being stupid - wearing those rocker shoes - they should have a "mall walking only" label on them....anyway - I am committed to myself and modifying my workouts to stay on track. Thanks for posting Chalene's blog - it was so good i share it with others - definitely needed it today as my motivation was dwindling and the weekend approaching!!

Wow, what a great blog! Thanks so much for sharing this because it's just what I needed to hear. If ChaLean can get through mega weeks of restrictions, I certainly can make it through 8 weeks!

I HATE those kinds of injuries! I agree with the others - start over.

In the meantime, when you have frustrating days - and I bet you will - here's an article Chalene wrote when SHE was injured and couldn't work out. It really helped get me through the tough times!

Ouch! So sorry you did that! When you're ready to, I'd start over from the beginning....8 weeks is a long time. (yea, I know...tell you about it!)

I was gonna suggest using the bands to do the upper body exercises, but you still would have to anchor it down. So how about google some chair exercises and do them...or maybe there might be some in our fitness articles on the website.

Take care and heal fast!!

When your ready to start again, I'd begin with Burn. I definately would use the weight machines at the gym but at home you could use a stability ball for all sorts of core & upper body work, too.
These next 2 months are going to be a lot different for you but I have no doubt you be working all the muscles you can & will be looking great on your cruise.

I would start all over with Burn Phase. When I injured my back in March I was at the end of Burn but didn't restart again until May and did Burn again.
Upper body weight machines at the gym sounds like a good plan.

I was supposed to be starting the Lean Phase yesterday and ended up breaking my ankle doing the Warrior Dash on Sunday. For at least 8 weeks, ChaLean Extreme will be completely out. I am thinking that when I start up again, I should start over with the Burn Phase rather than the Lean Phase. What do you think? I also briefly entertained the thought of still doing the CLX exercises that only require using the arms (bicep curls, etc), but then I thought what if I drop a dumbell on my foot! That would not be good. I may try to use the weight machines at the gym, just so I'm getting some type of exercise. I appreciate any advice on how to handle all of this. I'm scared to death of losing muscle strength and gaining weight!
