Barefoot is the only way I workout! I have weird feet - very flat, overpronated, etc. so I get stabbing pains in them any time I try to wear sneakers to do Zumba, Turbo Jam, CLX, etc. Running too, so I only run barefoot on the beach. I just have yet to find sneakers that make my feet feel better instead of worse, so barefoot it is!

No way - would hate to accidentally drop a weight on my foot. Plus, what if you twist a toe by accident.

I live in an apartment building with cement/stone (?) floors and it just seems that working out with shoes makes low-impact cardio/dancing difficult. I'd never thought of barefooting it before, so maybe I'll give this a try.

But for CLX and all those lunges and strength moves, I'm really more comfy in lightweight fitness shoes like Nike Free.

I do sometimes do CLX barefoot. I also did Zumba once barefoot because I forgot my shoes but I wouldn't recommend it.

I've been wearing my Vibram Five Fingers as well... I feel like I slide around too much barefoot. But they still allow me to have the flexibility of being barefoot! :)

I tried TurboFire barefoot the other day - definitely won't be doing that again! My shoes were on before the warmup was over emoticon Might try it with CLX today

I started CLX and halfway through the second workout I kicked my shoes off because the carpet is so plush and was messing with my balance.

I have heard other people talking about working out barefoot, but I've always been leery of it. I have had a really tough time finding shoes where my feet don't hurt a few minutes into the workout (I've gone through 4 pairs in 3 months!) After reading all this, I might have to give barefoot a try!

I also workout barefoot. Most of my house has hardwood floors except for the bedroom where I workout. I find I get better traction for pushups on the carpet than I do on the bare floor. I also don't slip as much when my feet or hands get sweaty. When I was doing Yoga X - I'd go into plank and invariably fall onto to my head because my hands would slip out from under me. I never have been able to workout in shoes. If I could I'd go barefoot forever!!!

I do it all the time. Like Wanaka I am born and raised in Hawaii and grew up barefoot and in slippers. Now that I live on the mainland people make fun of me for wearing sandals year round.

I do yoga barefoot and sometimes stretches. I've never really tried cardio or strength training tho. Born and raised in Hawaii and always going barefoot, I'm comfy in 'slippers' (flip flops) or bare feet but never really tried working out that way. Just figured I was supposed to wear shoes. lol

I think I'll try it tomorrow!

Carla, thanks - I am more worried about my toddler (22 months) tripping on them or dropping them! When I workout, she comes over and holds my leg and/or arm and grunts with me - she knows not to pick them up, but she is tempted to pick up the pink one - it's 5 lbs. I try to workout before she's up, but sometimes she wakes up and wants to be near me, at which point I need to stop if she gets too needy. So she's my distraction :)

I wear shoes to workout, but would rather not, but I need the arch support at all times.

Please be careful when lifting weights barefoot. I'd hate for you to drop a weight on your toe/foot.

I have to wear shoes. I tried barefoot, but I dont get the support when I go down to do the lunges. It is just too hard and slippery. I am thinking about getting indoor shoes. my carpet is looking worn, or maybe I need an area rug. Not sure yet...

I often work out barefoot, although lately I have been wearing my Sketchers ShapeUps (and I am crediting them with my rock hard calves). I like not having to worry about shoes when I work out at home, and when I work out with Chalene, I get much better range of motion and pivoting ability barefoot.

I have been exercising now six days a week for three and half months. Missed two days, one to ski... but have been working out the whole time barefoot. I do turbofire 3x a week and chalean 3x a week, and Thank God, I have not had any real discomfort working out so long without shoes. I have wooden floors.

I worked out for year wearing sneakers and always had issues with my knees. Ever since going bare - no problems.

Anyone else experience this?

I save a lot of money on fitness shoes :)
